Limited menu on Sunday, and bartender doubles as waiter. So I had a nice cocktail, a salad and very slow service. Management should not ask a bartender to cover a bar and many tables, so matter how many customers show up. The restaurant was dark, with all the ambiance of a hotel lobby (which it is). The bartender was very nice and gave me extra ginger beer to extend my cocktail, so all the stars go to him. read more

Attached to the Midway Marriott it provides good food selection and definitely a solid breakfast buffet with a omelette station! Service is decent and has a nice bar!! I'd say one of the better restaurants attached to a hotel I've traveled to! Not overly spendy and good food choices for all three meals! Pictured here is the omelette and some fruit and cereal! Came in as I was staying in the area and had heard good things about the one downtown. Was seated quickly and brought a water. Place was doing a good business on a Tuesday night. Ordered the pork chop ($28) with crispy brussel sprouts and a side salad ($5). Side salad was good, mixed greens with a balsamic dressing. Little small for the money but fresh and crispy. The pork chop I ordered medium and they delivered perfectly on the temp. It was very tender and delicious. I really enjoyed it, swiping each piece through the chorizo sauce. I would have gnawed the bone if I wasn't trying to be polite. Sprouts were good very tasty but a little dry. Service was good. Will be back for sure! read more

I work around the corner and was craving their salmon entree. I have been to Copper Fox plenty of times and sometimes its not always booming which is probably why staff aren't readily available. I understand. However, today I went about lunch time and waited a bit until I caught someone's eye in the back. Another staff person came from behind and I asked if I can sit down somewhere and order. She said yes. I waited about 10 minutes before realizing no one was ever going to come out and take my order. I left. There was only 3 other people in the restaurant who weren't eating but on their computers. I wasn't sure if it was closed/opened, but I saw that there were condiments everywhere so it must be up and running. Organization, structure and communication need to improve because when I left, I wasn't sure it was even open or not. Awkward. We'll see if I come back. read more

Dropped in on a Tuesday around 8 pm on 09/24/2019. Pros: Food was beautifully presented with a flavor to match. Deviled eggs as pictured were surprisingly good, you could taste the andouille and chives. The main course was a prime steak sandwich which was also excellent. Cons: The dessert, I can't even remember what it was called but it tasted stale and old. Location, if I had not stayed at the hotel I would not have ever found this place! I will return and recommend this location to family and friends. read more

First time dining off the dinner menu. I customized a couple items and it was no problem accommodating my requests. The minestrone soup was perfect, rich and hearty, very freshly prepared. I had a dinner salad and it was almost too beautiful to eat . All items in the salad were super fresh and the presentation was perfect. My friend had the grilled salmon and he said it was delicious. It was a very generous portion, perfectly seasoned, grilled, and served with a sauce and some sautéed peppers. Server was attentive, professional, and friendly. Another lucky find. I was disappointed with TGIF nearby and decided to walk over to Marriott where Copier Fox was located. It was very empty when I cane in. There was s crowd around the bar, but the dining room was empty. No hostess around and I wasn't sure if they were still serving good. Fortunately the wait person came out and sat me with a menu she was very observant and friendly. She saw that I had a check-in coupon for biscuits and placed the order right away. I decided on salad and calamari fries based on other reviews here. 1) biscuits were deceivingly good. The color was darker than I expected. I thought they were burnt but the moment I bit into one ... well, let's just say I finished 2 biscuits despite my low carb diet. 2) Calamari fries were fantastic! Thick piece of calamari that is tender and not chewy. I didn't need the dip to go with them. 3) salad was the surprise of the evening. It was huge and the combination of crispy romaine lettuce with crispy kale was so pleasant. The croutons, like the biscuits, were also deceptively good. They were chunky and visually look like they will be soft and mushy like blocks of bread, but they were crunchy instead. 4) has the mule signature drink served in a copper cup. Nice touch. All in all a good place for dinner. read more

Marriott is doing a much better job of making their restaurants into a better dining experience, and Copper Fox is an example of that. You'll see things like brisket sandwiches and local goods highlighted. While this restaurant isn't quite up to the level of some of the other Marriotts I've been to, it is very good... and much better than the previous incarnations that all had a bland burger, Caesar salad, and fruit cups. My meal was a fried chicken sandwich with roasted tomatoes. The chicken was piled high, seriously it was probably 8-9 ounces. The breading was perfect, and the roasted tomatoes added a great flavor rather than just being a raw tomato that makes the entire sandwich slide apart as soon as you take your first bite. The fries were average at best. Unfortunately, I had what I assume is a new bartender that seemed unfamiliar with the menu and drink selection. read more

Updated Review: I was surprised to find a note under my door at the Marriott this morning from management saying sorry for the experience last night and including 2 breakfast buffet tickets. Totally unexpected and I'm really impressed with how quickly they responded. You have to give credit to places that address problems head-on and resolve them quickly. It's so rare to find places that do this. We took advantage of the breakfast buffet this morning and it was good. I had the South of The Border Omelette and my husband had the Chicago Omelet along with other pastries from the buffet. We both enjoyed everything we ate. The lady working the Omelette and waffle station was especially friendly. The host/waiter was also friendly, but I had to search for him to get water. I'm not sure if maybe there isn't drink service during breakfast, but a water dispenser would be good if there isn't. I will say that managements response and breakfast did change my perspective overall. Perhaps it was an off night the evening before. This experience was a miss for me. Was underwhelmed with food, drink, and service. To start, service was lacking. No one was especially friendly and our waitress disappeared on us leaving the bartender to bring our check and process our check. Everything was very slow from getting our drinks to bringing our check. Food and Drink: Drinks were average. I had the Blueberry Sage Collins and it wasn't the best. I expected a sweeter drink, however it could have been my poor selection. For food, we split the lobster roll with chips. It was ok, but certainly not worth the $17. An average burger would have been better. Also, there was a dark hair in the chips- pretty gross. I'd recommend venturing outside the hotel for a better restaurant. read more

After eating at a terribly disappointing chain restaurant the night before, I found this place tucked away in a hotel around the corner. A gem... it was so much better than my earlier experience that the hotel restaurant afforded. The decor is modern and doesn't feel like the lobby of a hotel at all. I think in the hustle and bustle of hotel life, it is easy to want to grab and go, but this is a sit down and chill experience. I got the deviled eggs and the fried avacado to start. I was not disappointed in the least. The deviled eggs were magic, with bits of sausage to tweak it. The fried avacado was creamy with a crunchy outside. My main was the pork chop. It came out with amazing flavor, grilled to perfection and the brussels sprouts were flavored and charred to add an awesome flavor to accent the pork chop. My recommendation is to go, slow down from the Midway insanity, and just enjoy the experience. read more

We wanted to find someplace close to our hotel when we flew into Midway and the Copper Fox Midway fit the bill. When we first got there, the bar tender was busy with a full bar of customers and it was evident she would be our hostess and server too. We considered going somewhere else but decided to stay and am glad we did. The food and drinks were good and the service was excellent. Maria was amazing, literally doing the job of two people. She needs to get a promotion because it was incredible how she never missed a beat covering the bar and restaurant at the same time. If you ever fly into Midway, you can't go wrong with the Copper Fox and if you are lucky, Maria will be your server/bar tender if she hasn't been promoted yet! read more

As locals we don't often visit the Midway hotel complex. We decided to try The Copper Fox inside the Marriott because of the previous good reviews here on Yelp and the fact it's listed as a "New & Hot" location. We arrived about 30 minutes prior to official dinner start time and the only customers inside were at the bar. The bartender sat us in the dining room in a great slightly intimate booth. Modernistic is the best way to describe the style and layout of the dining area. Quite comfortable and also a joy to look at. The bartender, Divea, was our waitress to start. We ordered the biscuits and honey butter and some drinks. Both arrived quickly and we placed our orders for the main meal. Just after this, Divea walked out and a server that had just come on duty came over and introduced herself. Maggie arrived back shortly with drink refills and then our dinners. The Vegetable Risotto was outstanding. The risotto was creamy and still slightly firm. The freshness of the tomatoes and asparagus on top was a real treat. The Fox burger was simple. As the only burger available, it shined and turns out no others are needed. While I wasn't a huge fan of the "White BBQ" sauce that was mostly mayo, the white cheddar, fresh tomatoes, butter lettuce, crispy onion, all on a brioche bun was marvelous. Alex came by to talk about the local customers (like ourselves) keeping it from just being a mundane hotel stop and was happy to spend time talking about dishes, sources of ingredients, and their amazing desserts. I'm truly making another stop soon to try the bread pudding. The cake in a mason jar sounds tasty and imaginative too. We'll be back soon! read more

Had the chicken salad and it was pretty good and had their white chili soup which was good (needed a little it more spice). However while we had dinner at the bar (tables were closed off already). We ate with a smell of dirty rag. We kept thinking it was someone near us until my buddy smelled the countertop where we were eating from. It smelled like dirty wet rag as if it was used all day to clean the floors and never washed. Because it was such a busy night (cubs were pkaying) we let it go. I would have given this place 4 stars but question the hygiene of the place. read more

I needed a quick bite when I was visiting someone in the area so I came in. The inside is what you would expect from a hotel restaurant so you can't really knock them for it. But don't expect there to be real ambiance. It was, however, clean and that was all I was expecting. The service was a bit sketchy in that it started not great but picked up toward the end. When I first arrived, only one person, Ramiro, was working the dining room and bar. There were probably four tables full and three parties at the bar, including myself. He was stretched pretty thin but he was extremely friendly and even gave me a recommendation. Because of that, I could tell some people were getting annoyed at the length of time it was taking, but not because he was not attentive; just understaffed. Then Jake came out and it was much better. He was also friendly and if I didn't have to leave, I would have sat and chatted with him for a while. I realize hotels are difficult to staff for because it could be completely dead or you can get unexpectedly slammed but if someone would have just been available to assist, I think most of the patrons' lunch would have been better. I decided to go with the crab cake. Overall, it was good but not great. The best thing on the plate was the arugula fennel salad that was dressed properly with a wonderful vinaigrette. I would order that on its own. The portion size of the cake was spot on and the texture was great. It was cooked well with a nice crust on the outside but tender on the inside and there was almost no filler. This sounds like a great review so why the three stars? The crab cake and the aioli were actually quite bland. There was not a proper amount of seasoning or even ingredients to make it tasty. Most crab cakes have some peppers, jalapenos or something mixed in but this just had crab. There was no spice and in a hotel perhaps they are looking to appeal to a broader audience but most people should know what to expect from a crab cake and there should be some spice or zestiness. Even if the point was not to make too spicy, then add all of the spicy in the aioli and that way people can take as little or as much as they would like. The good news is that spice and ingredients are easy to add and the difficulty is getting solid ingredients and getting the correct texture so they seemed to have nailed the hard part. If they just punch of the flavor a bit and ensure they are staffed appropriately consistently, this is easily another star next time I go back because they have a good starting point. read more

Free biscuits- for checking in here. Nice! Except the biscuits/butter had an unusual taste. I didn't enjoy them but don't want to speak for everyone. 7 later chicken salad - yum! Large salad - sometimes those stacked salads are small - not this one. I wasn't able to eat it all. Very good flavor. Friend had BLT salad. This could be described as a wedge salad. He would've preferred fresh tomatoes rather than roasted but overall thumbs up. Catching a flight out so was looking for a nice safe place to eat and this fit the bill. I came here yesterday for lunch and I'm about to head back for a late lunch today. This place is new and modern. I live my life in hotels and this place is definitely better than just a "hotel bar" as another reviewer stated. I'm going to knock my only 2 cons out of the way right now. - The tap water sucks. I thought it was possibly this whole area, but the water in the hotel and at a restaurant next door tastes fine. - New business, but a tv already needs replaced. The tv by the couch sitting area has gone black 1/4 of the screen which is unsightly. Plus, if you are going to have it on ESPN talk shows with no sound at least turn on the closed captions. I've never understood why more places don't do that. That's it! The only things I would change! The menu here is short and sweet which I appreciate. It lets them focus on key classics rather than have twenty different burgers and a million different salads. Prices look to be about $2 more than a chain sit down, but the food and quality is worth it! I had the fox burger (only burger on the menu) and it was excellent. It comes with white cheese and white BBQ sauce while being large in size. The plain fries were simply okay and nothing special. I'll see today what I can substitute them for. The area itself is modern and clean. It's set up to the side of the hotel lobby so I'm sure some nights it can be extremely busy. Overall, I highly suggest this place. It's more upscale than Applebees or TGIF next door, but still in the price range for a business traveler like me. read more

Stopped to wait on a flight into Midway. We were pleasantly surprised by a unique menu selection. Ordered the poblano grilled cheese and the seven layer chicken salad to share/split. It did not disappoint! The poblano grilled cheese is reminiscent of chili poblanos without the red sauce. Very cheesy and very yummy! The salad presentation was really cool! All the layers of chicken, black beans, corn, avocado, etc were stacked into a tall glass cylinder and brought to the table on a plate. The waitress lifted it around the plate to spread the layers. We met some friends who were staying nearby and had such a great meal. Apparently it was recently remodeled. Great gastropub vibe and really friendly staff who even took a group picture for us. Appetizers: calamari fries were awesome. Biscuits were a little dry but there was enough honey butter to make up for that. Entrees: the burger was phenomenal. I loved the crispy onions and the Parmesan truffle fries were worth it. My wife got the fries avocado salad which she loved. Also, how is fried avocado not a thing that every restaurant in Chicago does. Cocktails were great and the manager there told us that the beer tap uses a special system that keeps the beer super cold so I had to order a beer as well. It was a great way to have my Bells Two Hearted. We are definitely headed back here next time we are out by midway. read more

Overall the food was good and the service was really poor. One person was here for 10 tables and it was a Friday.
