I moved here from the east coast during covid so I didn't have a salon here but the yelp reviews for 20 volume were good and it's a convenient location for me. First impression walking in was what a cute salon!!! I'm usually good with names but I didn't reiterate and ask my stylist name but I think it was Maritza. I was super disappointed in my hair after I left this Salon. I waited almost a month to get in with Veronica an "advance stylist" and left feeling super bummed about the color and application of my "full head" of highlights. To make matters worse I even came in per their suggestion for a consultation to make sure the icy blonde I wanted was a possibility. I have naturally blonde hair so this wasn't a massive undertaking. After looking at my reference photos and my hair Veronica said " no problem I can do this." So I came back a few weeks later for my apt and left it DARK roots all around my face, fat chunks of highlights, and a golden tone all over ( i wanted icey ) While I was sitting in the chair she got hair dye on my face 3 separate times just slopping it on without much attention to detail. I had to keep wiping it off and at no point was there an " oops sorry" At the shampoo bowl for the first rise out, I was not given a neck towel so my ENTIRE back from neck to my butt was soaking wet and freezing for the remainder of apt. The water was always freezing cold, super high pressure, and "shamoo" ( which is usually my fave part was NOT even close to relaxing) Everything was just done with very little care for the client's comfort. Once my hair was dried I kindly told her it was not blonde enough or like the photo I showed her and she said I was a "blonde-orexic" and that "its blonde enough" Well... No mam I just wanted my hair like the photo I showed you and if you thought that was too blonde then you could have said no. I mentioned the color was not to my liking a few times and not ONCE did she offer to add more highlights or fix it. I paid $270 for that apt and STILL tipped $50 regretting so. I then went home to take a closer look at home and that's when I was shocked at how bad the application was! I took photos and sent them to Veronica asking nicely, of course if I could come in to get these areas corrected ( see pics below) and she never got back to me. I reached out to the owner of the salon via e-mail and FB with no response and waited over a week so overall I get the feeling that this salon does not care about its clients. I do not have the money to get my hair done again by someone else so I guess this is what I am stuck with for the next 5 months till I can get back in with someone else. -Take your money elsewhere. Extremely disappointed. After having Bree cut my hair for a year and my son's she no longer is cutting kids hair after she obtained Master Stylist. And I'm the one that added them to Yelp and took the first pictures. Horst M. Rechelbacher would be rolling in his grave right now. VENMO for tips?? Tax evasion and true reporting of earnings? Perhaps, Stacey is opening too many salons. After all, I hear she doesn't visit this location much. This is coming from a salon that is always empty every time I go there. Ego? Guess so. I should have suspected change when Bree suddenly received her "assistant." I'm disappointed in you Bree. Chase the dollar and forget about your customers. I'm done with 20 Volume Salon. Not about the customer's wants. A lot of noise about charity events that are an excuse for the salon to drink. High prices. Good luck making it in Ahwatukee. Let me clarify some things for you. [CAN I SAY CONDESCENDING MUCH?] Bree got promoted. Her prices went up because she got promoted. She's been a hairstylist for a long time and she deserves to get promoted. She also gets to choose the services she gets to perform because she deserves to. She has earned the right to specialize in whatever she'd like to do and also earns the right to not take certain services as well. Especially, when we, as a salon, have other stylists available for those said services. Our stylists accept all forms of finances for tips. [I have never been offered to tip outside of VENMO. Way to try and cover] They can accept Venmo, the customer can put it on the card, or they can accept cash. They, just like anyone else who accepts cash or other forms of cash payments like "Venmo", have to report those earnings to the government. [WHY USE VENMO? Cover earnings?] Not sure what you're mad about here on that one, but please let me know if you'd like me to clarify it more. Also, I'm so sorry that you are frustrated [FRUSTRATED?? YOU DON'T KNOW ME] with all the charity work we do. Our staff is also not permitted to drink at said charity work, [JUST LIKE I SAW A STYLIST BUY WINE SHORTIES AT THE WALGREENS NEXT DOOR AND GO BACK TO THE SALON] but sometimes we do have a company that will donate some drinks for our patrons to enjoy during the fundraisers we do. I'm also not sure why this would cause you anger, but if you need further explanation- please let me know. Horst Rechelbacher is actually the inspiration for all of the fundraising that we do, so I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be "rolling in his grave" to know that we've raised almost $20K this year for local and national charities. [GOOD FOR YOU!] We love being in Ahwatukee. Our prices are actually pretty average for the community. We are also not the only salon in Ahwatukee that promotes it's stylists and have their stylists charge more with that promotion. [MY COMPLAINT WAS NOT ABOUT PRICE. THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE.] We are so infatuated with all of our Ahwatukee guests. The people in Tukee are kind, and good to us. Location is convenient. Setting up the appointment for my first visit proved to be a series of questions and challenges. I requested an experienced hair colorist. Upon my first visit I was set up with a "new coorist". It was her FIRST day. Really ? I am a new client and my service wasn't an easy one. I had a root touch up and a foil, gloss and a cut. Now moving onto the environment. The Environment is very sterile, low light, very cold.. like the air is probablyset at 60 degrees. The staff at the time were not so welcoming for either visit. The first visit, with the first day colorist, her name was Tina... oh my sweet Lord.. my hair end up ok.. but opposite of really what I wanted. I think she was very nervous and the "younger" girls I sensed were making her uncomfortable... so I left feeling like I needed to be understanding vs critical. My haircut was a good cut. My touch up was ok, the highlights weren't highlights but more low lights... too dark. Tina was nice. So I thought , she needs to learn more about me and she will get it right the next time. Here is where is gets interesting. Six weeks later.. my appointment wasn't confirmed. I typically go to appointments for my hair on my day off work. So I schedule my entire day around my hair. I call early morning of my appointment. I can the disengaged person on the other end... I say .. Hi.. I never received a confirmation text or call for appointment today.... the girl on the other end.. puts me on hold. She gets back on.. ask me my name ... she then puts me on hold again... five minutes later. Ma'am I'm so sorry but Tina quit. We forgot to call you. Let me reschedule with one of our "senior colorist" asap. So after another five minutes of going through appointments, I was scheduled two weeks later. This time a text confirmed and a call for my appointment and a credit supposed courteousy credit of 50.00 towards my bill. Oh by the way. My first visit was 445.00 w/out the tip. I get to my second and last appointment with Maricella or whatever her name is that has raving reviews and was excited to maybe leave with what I would at.min like... or hopefully love. OH MY GOODNESS... FORGET ABOUT IT!!!! I looked like someone straight out of beauty school with limited to no experience did my hair. And trust you /me, I experienced that many years ago when I had my hair done at a beauty school in my teens. Except this might have topped that.. my hair not only had the low.lights still but now it had highlights (three different colors and she died my roots some awful orange blond color that didn't match the rest of my hair. She then tried to hide it by masking it with a toner that only made the old blond highlights more gold while others part were ashy green color. I actually love gold but what she did wasn't very becoming...it was awful, just awful. It took everything within me to not cry. When I expressed my dislike, she had The audacity to tell me that Tina really messed my hair up and what she did wasto fix what tina did. It would be a transition process. Uuum sorry, I'll take what Tina did over what you did any day. I was left with literally color bands in my hair, roots a different color than the remainder if any of the colors in my hair, one side.if my head had.more highlights than the other. Hight lights were were uneven one. One side was a sixteenth of an inch from the scalp while others were as much as a half inch. In the back.if my head she missed entire sections. I looked liked Bozo the clown in female form with some wicked out dark blind medium brown lowlights. Also as if that weren't enough, my hair cut was uneven. Yup... she added tge icing to the cake. And this visit cost me 475.00 and I didn't get my courteously credit either. Apparently, that was not noted by the owner who was the disengaged girl I talked to that second time when confirmation of my appointment. Go figure! So I tell ya... go somewhere else.. convenience and easy access and location... mean nothing.. I am convinced the reviews on this salon where there is 5 stars are of OLD staff no longer there or just fake reviews. sorry but this is an honest straight forward as it happened review. read more

I had my appointment with Larissa, this was my first time in the salon and first time seeing Larissa, I has been following her on instagram for sometime and thought her work was just amazing so decided to give her a try and let me tell you it was the BEST decision I made. I would recommend her for cut and color she is on top of her game, she listens to what you want and gives you input and suggestions, you can tell that she loves what she does and cares about what the end product is when you walk out the door. I keep giving this salon a shot. I've been three times and I've taken my daughter three times. We've seen four or five different stylists. Note, we have only had haircuts. Coming from the Midwest I'm a huge supporter of Aveda salons and went for years! I sought it out. My requests have always been very simple. A blunt cut. And honestly I've never had a good cut. I actually even brought my daughter back for a re-cut. I have never done that before, ever. I had high hopes. I have been there as the only customer with country music blaring. Rhonda is incredibly talented and my hair hasn't looked this fabulous in years. Every haircut/color comes with a mini neck/hand massage, and everything smells amazing! The salon is super cute and is painted in relaxing tones. I also got a facial from Cherie and it was one of the most relaxing experiences in my life. How the mighty have fallen. Bree has been cutting my husband's and son's hair for a year and a half. She just achieved "master stylist." Her prices go up 20%, ok I'll play the game even though there has been no improvement in the cut and definitely none when it comes to styling. After all of these monthly haircuts with ridiculously high tipping, she has removed kids cuts as a service. Not to mention 20 Volume doesn't even pay to have a receptionist. I scheduled an appointment with Amy yesterday for my daughter who is 10 years old. 30 minutes before my appointment I was called and and told that sorry Amy doesn't do children's haircuts so my daughter couldn't get in to see anyone today. Very disappointing because I was going to switch from my current salon as well as my mom due to this location being so close to my house. I had them call and ask Amy if she would make an exception due to gaining two other clients and they called back and said she said no. I'm surprised that a stylist would give up 3 clients. Worse experience ever. First they sent me a text only 2 hours before my scheduled time to let me know that my stylist is out of town! I had to call them to set an appointment with another stylist. She was extremely rude, I only wanted a root touch up and a toner, Which is not very complicated, she kept making rude comments about my color choice. I ended up leaving so frustrated. My daughter had a very disappointing experience here. She brought an inspiration picture and left with something quite different and not a good cut. Her aunt pulled me aside and said - her hair doesn't look even and her 89 year old grandma said it looks ragged. We spoke with the management and they offered to redo it but as it was already very short and much shorted than she asked for, we didn't want to risk more being taken off in the correction process. They agreed to a refund. I offered to send the inspiration picture and pictures of my daughter's cut. She took the credit card number for a refund. I send the pictures. She has no issued the refund and now has not answered my messages. I am going to continue to pursue it but am very upset about the cut and then about being lied to about the refund. read more

What an amazing experience!! I am so happy that we have another salon in Ahwatukee. From the minute you walk in you have a comfortable feeling, its inviting and the staff is wonderful. Every salon service includes a short neck/shoulder massage, a hand/arm massage. The product itself is fantastic. I went in for a touch up and ended up with a gloss application which made my hair color even and shiny. A beautiful result. There was no pressure in up selling services or products and I felt that pricing was extremely comparable to other salons in the surrounding areas. Bree was my colorist, stylist and she was amazing. She knew my color by sight and was able to work with me during the consultation to fix some of the impurity's in my existing color. She evened out the tones and will admit as the best part of hair service to me is the wash out and blow out... she was spectacular! I was so comfortable and relaxed that I even nodded off during the blow out. So this is the first time that I've ever left a yelp review for a hairstyle/haircut... But my experience yesterday with Bree at our new salon back in the foothills has blown me away! By the grace of God or the universe intervention, my previous stylist is no longer with them, so I scheduled an appointment with Bree and I will follow Bree to the ends of the earth I think at this point! I have crazy, wacky, curly thick hair and she gave me the most amazing haircut, and while I left with blown out straight hair, this morning my curls have been released and they're nearly perfect! I am beyond excited about 20 Volume Salon Ahwatukee opening up down the street from my house. After many expensive trips to the dermatologist for help with acne scarring, the only options left for me were fillers and laser treatment, both insanely expensive, I decided to go a different route. Cherie, at 20 Volume, answered all of my questions and explained all of the different facials and told me what she thought would work best, how long it would take and what I would be looking at, cost wise.
