Terrible experience with the owner & staff. My wife and I had been going to this salon regularly for a year. We had jumped around between stylists but finally felt we had a good fit. She was getting her hair done by Ramon. I had my second appointment with Carson who is a really sweet person, I asked her to do what she did last time because I loved it and we chatted away. Full highlight and trim is what I normally get I've been wearing my hair the same for a few years. I got home after and realized I had multi color stripes in my hair up by the root area all over, orange and yellow stripes. I went back the next day and she tried to correct it. The owner never came by to look at, instead she and another stylist decided how she should proceed to cover the stripes. I felt really insulted by Amanda, (I think her name is )as she was acting like this was my fault in some way and even suggested my hair was probably dirty which is why it turned out so bad. Excuse me I wash my hair daily. I asked for a deep conditioning tx because my hair also felt unusually dry. The lighting in there is dim I couldn't really tell how I felt about the "correction" Ramon asked if I was ok with it and I stated I'm not sure. After getting home in my bathroom lights I could see a multitude of colors going on in my hair and over night it started to break off. By the next day hair was all over my house, I had inch length hair sticking up all over my head. Also my scalp was red and burned for several days. The hair I had left was brittle and fried. I called and spoke with the owner I conveyed how upset I was, I felt devastated! We went by to pick up a refund ck that he offered, and he thrust a bag of free products at me and dismissed us. I stood there shocked and he said well what do you want me to do I don't have a magic wand. I wanted him to actually give me the time of day and look at what his stylist did to my hair to see why I was so upset, also describing how to use the product he gave me would have been helpful. We left and my wife kept her appointments with Ramon she goes every four weeks, it's been a month, She was scheduled for today she called to leave a message to confirm because they didn't call to confirm her appointment like they usually do. She ended up calling again because no one returned her call, Carson answered and when she asked about her appointment she handed the phone to Ramon. He said to her that he cancelled all of her appointments and he thought she knew that. My wife said no that was never communicated to me, and he said well I canceled them because I don't want to deal with you all anymore and he hung up on her. Wow! After a year of going in there, he used to tell us that we should all get together some time and we thought we were friends. I actually despite my hair being literally ruined some how thought we'd get past this. My wife really liked the way Ramon cut her hair. Now she's due for a haircut and has to find a new stylist, and wait to get in some where else. These people are guilty and they know it. I fully intend to report this salon and the stylist that ruined my hair, and burned my scalp to the board of cosmetology. This could have been handled so much better this person and his staff have zero integrity. read more

I've been going to this salon for about 3 years now and I'm ALWAYS so thrilled with the results. Amanda is an amazing hairstylist. She is so sweet, funny, and knowledgeable about cuts, colors, and pretty much everything about hair. I've changed my hair multiple times (including making the mistake of using black box dye ‍) and Amanda has been so patient and informative through the whole process and has been helping me get back to my natural color! The team of stylists there now (Ramon, Ali, and Amanda) work well together and the experience as a whole is much better! I went in randomly one day and was given a great cut by Ali. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The salon itself was recently remodeled and looks great. I'll definitely be going back. I also referred my sister to Ali. She was hesitant since she had been getting cut by the same stylist at another salon for the past 7 years. Tea is the absolute best hair stylist in town!! 4 years ago I had moved from Tucson leaving my stylist of 6 years, and for almost an entire year I HATED my hair cuts and resented having to get them done until I found her!!! I am so comfortable and excited now to get my haircut because she is such an expert in her trade and knows exactly what she's doing. I don't even have to tell her what I want, I just go in and sit down and she knows exactly what to do and I look flawless every time! I can't thank her enough for being the absolute BEST. If she ever left this salon I would follow her anywhere! (Except out of state) She is a perfectionist like me and no matter what will do an amazing job. I had never had my hair dyed before and I was so scared to do anything to it (natural blonde). It was getting a little dark so we did a couple of highlights. She made me feel so comfortable and knew I had such anxiety about dying my hair but because of her I enjoyed the experience and will definitely get it done again! So yeah the manager of this store printed out my review to show my mother last time she went in. LMAO SERIOUSLY WHO DOES THIS? Basically I get bullied through the entire hair experience and then my mother comes home complaining that now she feels uncomfortable because they were unhappy with my review. So I'm assuming they were trying to bully me into taking this down? Well, take that as you will. Any company that tries to bully you into taking down a poor review is completely unprofessional in MY opinion. As for Wendy apparently she feels really bad about the job and showed remorse (I would too after reading my review) so I'm posting my UPDATE to say that my hair actually wasn't VIRGIN. I had some box color and that might be why it came out so yellow. That still has nothing to do with the fact that I didn't want streaks or that kind of dye job. She still should have just told me no. She has since apologized for it which is very respectable and professional on her part. But of course those are such tiny details that are now corrected but overshadowed by the fact that the owner printed out my review as if he was in high school and tried to bully me into taking it down by showing my mother. Hello, I'm an adult and I'm entitled to my opinion. I may be a lot of things but I am not a liar. The owner has also told my mothers friend who recommended her to the place trying to pit them against each other. I am stunned by Courtney M's rating. I have been a customer of Design Ramon Hair Studio for 10 years, with the last couple of years having Wendy as my stylist. I have referred dozens of my business associates and friends, and every one of them has become a long standing client. You don't obtain long standing clients by bullying and providing the opposite of what a client requests. Design Ramon Hair Studio is an upscale hair salon with professional stylists. Their customer service is exemplary and one thing that I appreciate is the fact they listen to the customer. They will always offer their recommendations with honesty, but never have I had them disrespect my choices. I have had my hair colored on many occasions and have been satisfied every time. I have been to salons prior to Design Ramon's that destroyed my hair because of their inexperience and lack of expertise. Never again! I give Design Ramon Hair Studio the highest of rankings because they are worthy of it. Please do not let one bad apple deter you from patronizing this business. If I could give this salon a 10 star rating I would! I've had my hair done by Ally for a while now and she does a fantastic job everytime! Once when Ally was on vacation and I couldn't wait to have my hair done I had Amanda color and cut my hair and she did a fantastic job as well!! My daughter has also been going to Ally since she was referred by a friend. Yesterday Ally put highlights in my granddaughter's hair and it looks amazing! Not only that but the whole staff there are always very kind and friendly. The salon is always spotless clean and very well decored. The prices are also very reasonable. I think this salon deserves a better star rating and maybe next time things will go better. The owner seems like a genuinely good person, the salon is beautiful and spotless, it appears they have a lot of loyal, return clients, I was warmly greeted for my appointment, it was on time and not rushed.....but it all went downhill when my stylist started cutting. This has been bothering me for 2 weeks. Debating if I would eventually come to like the cut that the stylist gave me when she, suddenly and completely disregarded our preceding 5 minute conversation about the specific style and cut I wanted, and went rogue with her sheers. To explain, I came in with a very specific idea of what I wanted, I'd had an idea for months, and resolved to get it. Then I thought about it for several long days and decided I was indeed comfortable with it. So there was no chance that I undecided about this cut. I came well prepared, bringing 6 different photos of the same style on the same person from different angles. The stylist's first comment to me was that she couldn't see the cut from ALL those photos, which was odd as they were all well lit 3x5 color photos, but I digress. In addition to the photo, I explained it in detail and we discussed the basics of the style and the fact that it was to be collarbone length all around. (Which she didn't think would look good because she thought the ends would flip up if they went past my shoulders, but I assured her that wouldn't bother me and that this was the length I wanted.) We then joked about how she would start slow with the cut since you can't put hair back on after you've cut too much off. Those words haunt me now. Somewhere in the process of shortening the bulk of it before she styled it she grabbed a handful from the back and cut off a good chunk of it around the base of my skull with that hateful razor-comb thing. I knew the very moment she did it that she'd just cut it WAY too short and I said something immediately, but she just kept going because at that point she had to shape it out, so I lost even more length after that. I will blow off a lot of small stuff if it's not too big of a deal and finally speak up when something is serious....well, I commented at least TWICE in the process that she had already cut my hair shorter than I wanted and needed to stop taking length off, so there is no claim that I didn't speak up and make myself clear. I don't know if she screwed up in a moment of inattention or what, but it was very distressing. Folks, it's now so short that I look like a Samurai if I attempt to pull my hair into a high ponytail, so I can only do a low ponytail; like a Founding Father. Then she raised the back and made the front longer and said she did it because "it's popular with the kids these days". Uh, what the heck? I ended up walking out of there with a cut several inches shorter than I wanted and bitterly disappointed because despite her best attempts to fix the situation and show me how to style this hateful, foreign cut that she decided to go rogue and give me, it still looks awful on me and I look like an idiot. She kept talking about scrunching it up with product and letting it air dry, or doing big beachy waves and letting it air dry. The problem is that I don't have time to air dry my hair and neither of those described styles suit me and my personal look, so the whole time I was just sitting there on the verge of crying thinking that it actually would have been helpful if she'd just stopped and simply asked me what chin length styles I DO like and then showed me how to style this new hairdo to look approximately like one of those, instead of apparently projecting her own style onto me from the cut to the style suggestions. Honestly, that's kinda what the whole experience felt like...being ignored, talked over and contradicted having someone project their personal favorite look onto you, regardless of your personal style. The whole reason I went to get a new style was as a self esteem boost because I thought I looked frumpy and that depressed me, but now with this dumb hairstyle that I didn't ask for, I look like 1981 Steve Perry from Journey, except with shorter hair. My children's 'helpful' first comments when they saw it were "At least it'll grow again, mommy." My boyfriend said "Whoa.......that's.....nice..... A co-worker laughed. Design Ramon was the best possible choice I could have made. The inside of the salon is BEAUTIFUL and have a upscale but relaxing feel to it. My appointment was with Karsyn who was so sweet! We hit is off right away and she listened to what I wanted and advised the best plan to achieve the look. My color is exactly what I wanted and she trimmed my hair to get it healthy while leaving as much length as possible. The price is very reasonable and I love that they sell Eufora products. Even when I lived out of state in 2015, Id make bi-monthly trips home to get my hair done with her. As someone with fine, brittle blonde hair and picky taste, I've always found it incredibly difficult to find a stylist I can trust to make my hair look and feel awesome every time - but Ali has it down to a science. I have been getting my hair cut by Ramon for over 15 years- both my mom and I started going to Ramon before he opened his own salon. She lives out of state now but still schedules a haircut with him anytime she can squeeze one in when she visits. First, the pragmatic things. Every haircut I have had here has been awesome. Mostly I get my hair cut by Ramon, sometimes I get my hair cut by Christina, either way, I always love it. I look really young for my age and I am not great at doing my own hair and makeup, so having a nice haircut makes a big difference both at work and at play. Ramon is also great at changing up my look when I ask for it, even if I have no idea what I want. It's not cheap, but it's most certainly good value for the money. But this salon also delivers on the less pragmatic aspects. Ramon is a great, great guy- he's always nice and funny, asks about family and makes all his clients feel good about themselves. He also does a lot to enrich the community (Maureen M's review sums it up perfectly). Ramon's staff is also amazing- nice, hard-working and talented. Everyone makes you feel welcome and makes every haircut a fun experience. This is definitely the type of business you want to support! Although I typically see Ramon, when my schedule has changed unexpectedly, I've been seen both Wendy and Christina. I always feel welcome and look forward my appointments. My color always looks great. I trust them to help me look my best and to tell me the truth when I am considering a choice that will make me look like a goofball. In addtion, the salon is very community oriented. They assist local non-profits with donations, provision of services and volunteer time. The owner often helps his clients who are undergoing chemotherapy on days the salon is closed to ensure privacy. My wife is currently dealing with evasive breast cancer. Prior to having a double mastectomy we went into Ramon's where she is a regular customer and spoke to Ramon. We told him that there would be a period of time where my wife would be unable to physically style or even brush her hair and we wanted to pre pay for one of the stylist to do that for her. Ramon hugged her, cried with her and Ramon reused to take any money from us and did in fact clear a chair for her every time we went in to see them.
