Coming back to say something. I really wish May had put her pride aside and just say she couldn't go the haircut. I live out of town and I'm reminded of this place because of the progress she had cut off. Originally I was supposed to get 3 inches cut off but she didn't know that my hair pulls back a lot so it looks like she cut off at least 7-9 inches. It's so much. I can't believe I even stayed in that dirty chair. I wake up everyday having to relearn how to do my hair and get used to my face looking a different way because it altered my look a lot. She did nothing. You can tell how unhappy I was and she was just making excuse after excuse. And I really can't believe she was stunned. She turned me into her and I'm appalled. I'm 22 years old trying to have cute long hair like Giovanna Ramos but ended up looking like Joey king. I just wanted layers but got a straight bob. read more

I received my first ever perm from May Salon and I'm obsessed! I've gotten 2 digital perms from this salon and highly recommend. I gave the stylist, May, creative liberty with my hair and it always turns out amazing. My hair is pretty long so the price is reasonable at $230. read more

It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to say in this review. On one hand, May and Melody were so kind, and were very sweet. On the other, my hair didn't turn out the best. I went in to get a touch up on my balayage. I confirmed with them that they do dye hair, and when I was there, I showed them some reference pictures of balayage hair that I wanted (black to blonde/lighter hair). I'm not sure they knew what I was asking for, but I blamed that also on my inability to speak Mandarin. They still went ahead and tried, which is great! However, all they did was bleach my hair. At one point, they sprayed water? Some kind of solution? I'm not sure to be honest. Onto my hair, and kept wiping it with a towel. I could hear them squeeze out the bleach/solution mixture. This was only my second time dying my hair at a salon, so, naturally, I trusted them. I wasn't sure what the process was, maybe this was correct? After they were done with the bleach, they washed my hair, and that was it. There wasn't any kind of toning or making things more balanced with the bleach--that was literally all they did. I attached two pictures, one from my front and back. From the front, it looked okay, but from the back, you can see where the different sections of bleach were added on. While I was there, multiple people did come in for a haircut only, so maybe this place is better with hair cuts than hair dye? But I really wouldn't recommend this place at all for dying your hair, as I wasn't happy with mine. Again, it is hard for me to write this review because I do empathize with them as an Asian woman who has family in the service industry, especially after the pandemic that brought out a lot of unkind words to Asians, but I do want to warn people who are thinking of coming here to at least dye their hair. read more

At the very beginning I knew it was going to be a good experience, Melody is very nice and talkative and we had a long conversation over many topics, she is very understanding and is well experienced in her expertise, wonderful vibe. This place is not even a real salon. It doesn't even have a sign from outside. It's just a tiny room with two chairs. I made an appointment and I still waited for around 20 mins until the hair stylist finished up with the client before me. There was only one stylist and an assistant, and clearly they couldn't handle this much of tasks. They were doing multi-tasking in a really bad way. The assistant was doing hair color to a lady sitting next to me. The stylist was going back and forth giving instructions to her assistant and cutting my hair. The hair cut was so rough. I showed her a picture and it was not the way I wanted at all. I paid $25 for a little over 10 mins haircut. They were so unprofessional. I got hair all over my pants. The whole experience was so uncomfortable. Never coming back to this terrible place. read more

I'm sorry Melody but I have to give you just one star. Yes, I understand that you are a student but listening to what the client wants is not something that should have to be taught! I explained to you that my last cut was a bob and that I did not like it. I told you I wanted you to layer my hair all over so that I could "feather" it back (yes, I am that old to still call it that!). I told you I wanted to keep the length. You seemed to understand what I said but as you were cutting my hair and I was seeing A LOT of hair fall to the floor, I wanted to cry. The actual cut that you gave me seems to be a good cut but again, it is not what I wanted. My hair was very short to begin with (shoulder length) and now it is just to under my ears. I look like a boy! So the problem here is not with your ability to cut hair, rather, your ability to listen. A good hair stylist ALWAYS listens to what the client wants and if they don't understand, ask again. Perhaps the problem here was a language barrier. You did speak English but maybe you don't understand it as much as I thought. I don't know. All I know is that my hair grows very slow and now I have to go through the whole process of growing it out again. I have to assume the woman who owns the shop that was there, could tell I was not happy with the cut or she just knew it was the wrong cut and that is why she attempted to style my hair after you were done. I would like to give you, and all others who come from another country, a bit of advice. If tips are a part of your income, then only speak English in front of your clients. When you start talking to others in a foreign language, we the client, have only one option, and that is to assume you are talking about us. Otherwise, why would you do it? Maybe you are, maybe you're not. Who knows. Either way it is EXTREMELY rude and I will leave a very small tip, if anything at all when this happens. Remember, this is the United States and English is the 1st language here. If you do find the need to talk about us, do like everyone else does, talk about us after we leave (just like we do!). read more

May is a very nice and sweet lady. She cuts hair very well and most the time gives you what you want. There is however, a language barrier. It's sometimes hard to explain what you want so I recommend you giving her a picture of what you want. She is I believe, by appointment only. So far not bad. read more

Had my hair cut by her twice now and each time I've loved the results. May is especially good at cutting Asian hair, is detail oriented, and knows what's trendy/stylish/professional. However, like a previous reviewer said, there is a language barrier. She is quite busy so calling ahead of time to make an appointment is necessary (although she does accept walk-ins).
