The woman cutting my hair was very nice and knew a good amount of English! I asked her for her recommendation, but my hair was a bit too short to style into something new, so she was very accommodating and gave me a trim like I wanted and told me to come back in two months to reassess where my hair is at to look at my options! My basic haircut ended up being $35 + tip. I think it's a good deal considering they shampooed me mid-cut. She texted him personally to make a Saturday afternoon appointment for me and sent pictures of the wolf-cut I desired. I arrived on time for my 2pm appointment and was greeted by Thanh and seated immediately. I showed him the pictures again. Then he asked me if I wanted to shampoo my hair, which I agreed to. Then we got straight to work. At the end of my cut, he made sure I liked the result, to which I asked for my bangs a bit shorted and he readily obliged. I paid $45 (excluding an additional tip) in cash, but I didn't inquire further if they also accept card or if there's an additional fee for paying by card. I looked around the salon for a menu of costs of services, which he said there wasn't one. No problem, I plan on coming back for haircuts only anyway which I know are $45! Otherwise, I'll text him personally asking for other services if I want them! All in all, I was in and out the door at 2:00 and 2:30 respectively, literally (I looked at the clock). MJ's service was the worst I've ever experienced at a hair salon. My wife came in to get her layers…read moretouched up and ends trimmed before our wedding in one week. I'm posting three photos to show the exact timeline of what happened here. My wife brought in a reference photo (labeled) and had zero bangs, but she did have overgrown face framing layers that she wanted touched up (See the BEFORE picture taken 4 days prior to her appointment). She asked for a haircut like the one in the reference photo, and for a small trim on the ends, but to keep the length. MJ then asked if she wanted the "short pieces," and my wife agreed thinking that MJ was referring to the short pieces that the girl in the reference photo has, which hit right above her nose AFTER styling. Despite these instructions, and even with the reference photo, the first thing MJ did was cut full, blunt side bangs that my wife did not ask for or consent to. When my wife raised a concern about her haircut, MJ replied with, "It's just hair. It will grow back." To which my wife responded saying her wedding is next week, and that was when MJ attempted to fix her hair. By that time, it was too late. When we left the salon, my wife was very distressed and immediately began crying (she has never cried over her hair before, even after a bad haircut). I reached out to MJ privately the next day to let her know how unhappy we were with her service and care. I asked her to rectify the situation by giving us a refund, but her responses were very defensive and dismissive. I responded to her with photos and a detailed explanation of what was asked for and what was given, but instead of reading my message, she asked to call me. I agreed, and she immediately began to yell at me claiming that my wife got the exact hair cut in the reference photo, and that she only cut off one inch from her hair. I could barely get a word in because she kept cutting me off every chance I got to try to explain my message to her (that she didn't read). MJ's negligence to give decent customer service is alarming, and her unprofessional conduct and failure to take accountability is unacceptable. Please think twice before you decide to book with her.
