Where do I even begin with this review? After relocating here three years ago, I had difficulty finding a suitable hairstylist, which led me to either style my hair myself or travel back home for the service. However, I have finally discovered an exceptional hairstylist who surpasses all expectations. If you are accustomed to receiving hair care services from Dominican stylists in New York, this stylist not only provides expert care but also nurtures your hair as if it were her own. I have never been more satisfied with a hairstyling experience in my life. The outcome for my daughter was absolutely remarkable. I am thrilled to have visited this salon and am deeply grateful. This stylist has earned a lifelong client. I had complete trust in every step of the process. My daughter required a deep treatment and a haircut. This stylist cut her hair with precision, removing just the right amount while maintaining its bounce, fullness, and shine - everything one could desire after a salon visit. Bravo for a job exceptionally well done. You have undoubtedly gained a loyal customer. Thank you‼ read more

Well I have been coming to this salon for close to 2 years now and all i can say is amazing! Before coming to this salon it was very difficult to find a salon that knew how to manage my hair due to the density and length but luckily this salon was open arms with walk-ins everyday! The owner and the employees are very friendly and personable and will ease any concerns you may have about your hair. I've never had a single complaint when it comes to this business. If y'all are looking for a salon that will do wonders this is it!! read more

I have been coming here for a solid two years now. Everytime Im in Arizona this is my go to spot to get my hair done. This is the only spot I trust with when it comes to doing my hair. I'm from the east coast , so when I come here it feels like home and I know I can trust them. It is a little bit more pricey for what I typically pay for a Dominican blowout out back home. They have charged me $60 everytime and I typically pay $30 back home. I will tell you I dont mind paying the $60 because it's all worth it and I did notice my hair does last a lot longer then usual whenever I come here. It feels a lot healthier and has a lot shine to it and has a lot of volume! read more

I went to this salon in Mesa years ago, and had a good experience. In searching for a new salon I found they relocated to PHX. After reading some of the reviews that weren't so pleasant. I figured I reach out to see if the new location required an appointment and confirm pricing since the last one accepted walk ins and the website isn't clear on a price list, not to mention recent reviews complain about being overcharged. I was told walk in or appt, either or is ok. Then was asked when I wanted to come in, I said tomorrow morning for myself and daughter. I wasnt given pricing but was asked to make a deposit for the appointment. Why if you accept walk-ins ? Their response was I only accept walk ins today not tomorrow. If you don't get tf out of here! Horrible business practice. I'm glad I read the reviews and reached out before wasting my time. read more

I was refused service I called and asked if there was any availability for a men's haircut walk in. "Yes, we're actually really slow." I am male but I wear effeminate clothing. When I showed up there were three workers and no clients and it was nowhere near lunch or closing time. They told me they couldn't cut my hair because they don't have clippers. I explained that I didn't want my sides cut and I was looking for an effeminate woman's style hair style and wouldn't need clippers. I don't understand why you would refuse my money with an empty salon. read more

03 July 20 Yesterday Friday morning I came to NYC Beauty Salon LLC to finally get a new look. I requested a wash set/rollers with blowout and hair cut services. The washset lady (sorry I never got her name) did a great job! Loved the scalp massage. Stephanie hands down did an amazing job! After she blow dried my hair and flat ironed my hair. I requested a bob cut with an even cut all around. Stephanie exceeded my expectations and I am so happy with the new look. I work in the military service and with long hair I'm constantly having to have my hair slicked back in a bun. I have tight curls and used to get Keratin treatments all the time back when I was home in Queens NY. It's been 2 yrs since I've done anything to my hair and I wanted to leave my hair chemical free. Stephanie said I didn't need Keratin Treatments and she was right my hair looks so healthy again and I just love the style cut she did to my hair. The receptionist was very professional and helpful. I will definitely come back and I highly recommend anyone to check out NYC Beauty salon LLC. read more

Went to this place thinking they were going to do a quality job with the amount of money it costs. However, it was terrible. They really chopped my hair off, and it looked absolutely awful. Didn't do anything I asked them to do. Would never recommend them to anyone. Do not go there. read more

VERY NICE PEOPLE. Clean. Lots of beautiful plants! Love my hair. I will take a photo next time. I did not want to put off my review. The owner did not want to do anything that she did not think I did not need. Talk about honesty! I walked out with a roller set and shampoo and shiny silky bouncy hair! I believe I have found my place in Arizona. If ever you are in Atlanta, see Chevella at +1 (404) 992-6807. I have given her so many clients after they've seen what Chevella can do. I am looking forward to going back to my new spot here in Mesa, Arizona read more

I am originally from New York. The Bronx to be exact and going to the Dominican shop for my hair was clockwork since moving to Arizona I can honestly say I could not find a hair shop or hair dresser that I liked. Until I found NYC beauty salon. I am now back in my two week regiment for a wash and set. My first time around I got a deep condition treatment which was a bit pricey I ended up paying I think $80 including a tip I also got a trim. Well worth it I now go every other week for their $25 wash and set special which is Monday thru Wednesday. Definably a true NY feel don't expect to be in and out you will spend a few hours here but it's worth it. I love the environment and family feel this is my new go to. read more

I am biracial half black half white with light wavy hair oftentimes dry and frizzy. I'm not good at keeping up with care but now having found this spot I won't have to do it myself. She understands that my hair doesn't do well with a lot of product and weighs down easily. I go there now once monthly for the deep condition treatment and more often for a set and blowout. Also just got trimmed there. She takes her time and gives you your money's worth. After 6 years in AZ I think I've found my spot. Yay!!! Cheers. P.s. for those reviews that mentioned concerns about pricing - they do have a check in station where everyone who goes there has to check in and select the service(s) they came for which shows the price(s) right away so you know what to expect at the end. They don't push services nor products on you. The place is renovated and lovely. The ladies are very respectful so the customer service is on point. Which makes me wonder why their score is lower than I would expect, but most reviews seem old from years ago anyway. Anyway - I love it there. read more

I recently relocated to the Phoenix area and was referred To NYC beauty salon by a new coworker. I was ecstatic to call and find out that they take walk-ins and I could get in the same day. I am Half African-American and half Dominican. I have 4B/4C, shoulder length, thick hair. I know I have a lot of hair so I have become accustomed to tipping extremely well and I'm also understanding if there is an up charge because my hair is so thick. However, the stylist that Started out doing my hair (who I come to later find out is the owners daughter) Made several references about the thickness and length of my hair and it was clear that she really didn't want to do it. After she rinsed the deep conditioner out, she put me back under the dryer without any detangling or adding a drop of product so that it could "air dry a bit". My hair was became dry and tangled. After getting me out of the dryer and starting the process of blowing my hair out, she did not part it into sections to give her better manageability and Instead of using a round brush she used a rat tail comb. She got maybe 1/4 of the way and then passed me over to the other stylist (her mother) who did an okay job although I've had sleeker blowouts with fewer flat iron passes. The lack of professionalism and subpar service is not the reason for my review. My review is based on the outlandish pricing structure. I looked at the pricing on their website and it's no where near what I was charged. The blowout was $80, deep conditioner $25 , flat iron $24 ... never have I ever paid for a blowout and been charged an additional fee for flat ironing. If there was an up charge for thickness and length that should have been relayed and I would have understood. But to receive subpar service and have a blowout priced a la carte is ridiculous. read more

I love this salon and the ladies, looking forward in a couple weeks to going back and getting my hair done again!!!

First let me say I'm from New York, I took my 10 year old daughter who has natural hair there. They initially look at her tight curls and thought her hair was going to be coarse and that she needed a EXPENSIVE keratin treatment! I decline, she came in again and said did she just take out braids ? I told her no, she offered other "special" products which I just felt like they were trying to make money off of me. My child is young and doesn't need all of these products. I also ask that the lady doing my daughter's hair not be so rough or use that much heat. I was ignored and talked about in another language. Long story short, my daughter's hair came out beautiful like it always does when she gets a blow out. The next day my daughter's hair started to break off so bad! It continued throughout the week! I have never seen my child's hair like this! I don't know what they put in her hair or if the heat was way to high like I told them several times! No professionalism, they don't know a thing about hair care! They are money hungry and I feel they think if you have natural curls your hair will be automatically hard to tame! I DO NOT recommend this place! AT ALL! I had to cut my daughter's severely damaged hair so she can start again. This is a disgrace to put NYC on your name. I have never experienced this in NYC, and you should be ashamed of what your doing to people's hair. read more

I visited the salon for the $25 wash & set special. In the middle of my wash I asked for the total price for all the services I wanted. When I asked why the wash & set wasn't $25 the stylist blatantly lied & said that special was only on Monday's & Tuesday's (their not even open on Monday's) I told her I called yesterday & was told it was $25 on Tuesdays & Wednesdays she then says in order for it to be $25 my hair has to be short to my ears so I said ok. The wash & set doesn't include a conditioning treatment or flat iron those both cost extra . When my hair was finished I asked the stylist to wrap it she tells me it's $5 for a doobie net unless I have my own. I asked could she use bobby pins instead she tells me she doesn't have any bobby pins how do you own a salon but don't have any bobby pins? When it was time to pay she told me a different price from what was told to me in the beginning When I asked why the price was different she had no explanation then changed it to the original price I was told. This was my first & last visit to this salon. I have tight curls & they didn't get my hair as straight as other Dominican salons I've been to yet they charge more than any Dominican salon I've been to. read more

This was exactly what I was hoping for when I finally found a Dominican salon in the Valley. I've recently transitioned back to natural and was ready to give it up because I couldn't find a salon to help keep my hair healthy and growing. The owner was wonderful and reassured me the second I walked in that they could handle my hair type with ease. I got a wash and set with a deep conditioner and much needed trim for my dead ends. The results were healthy hair and cute little bob! The stylist was an older lady who was so patient and took such pride in my hair and her work. I would highly recommend this place, especially if you're accustomed to NY salons! I felt right at home. read more

I came in on Thursday around 3:30. It wasn't busy. I was seen right away. They have a placenta deep conditioner that leaves your hair incredibly soft. I did the Dominican roller set for the first time. Not so much intense heat as a blowout so I felt good about my decision. I have thick 3b curly hair. Guadalupe washed my hair well & took her time detangling! She knew what she was doing. I was comfortable in the friendly environment & with the music. I loved it here & will definitely be back!! Having mixed texture curly hair, I can never find a hairdresser who knows what they're doing so I literally avoid hair salons but my birthday is this weekend so I gave them a shot read more

Authentic New Yor-inican doobies, press n curls, treatments and bone strait press n shines with the same luster and flip. Delivered with customary confidence, loving attitude, and the know it all advice and family atmosphere that keeps you coming back for more. Prices are no lower than reg white salon prices next door, higher than than what I remember paying back east, but then why shouldn't they be? I'm passionate about my thrift but much more passionate about being able to support a very talented, small family and double minority owned business risking it all to bring this tiny taste of home here to the very foreign and very nothing like home vibe of the east valley and Phoenix area generally. You are so NY, so talented, so real and with longevity that others have not been able to bring or sustain, which means you're not only making me and my fam feel and look beautiful in the ways in which we've come accustomed that make us feel seen, recognized, known and like we are US...you're actually changing the face and cultural scene of the valley in ways it's needed for a long time. Tip: specialist in all types of hair, white, black and mixed! Consistent quality, but also consistently tight availability and lengthy times from start to finish on some services due to detail oriented style and frequent regulars with small staff of family stylists. Book far in advance, take advantage of slow day specials and call to book as the online they yelp doesn't work and likely won't anytime soon. Also don't be afraid to ask for custom styles not on the menu, a norm in NY where everyone wants something no one else got! Lol read more

Stay away from this salon. Taylor and her mom( owners) are scammers. They don't list their prices, don't give receipt and charge outlandish prices and only want cash. Sounds like all the bells and whistles of people who scams and don't want to report their earnings to the IRS. read more

Moving to Arizona from New York was not easy. It's hard leaving family, friends behind. It's hard to find the things that bring you close and remind you of home. I searched for salons for over 3 years. I could not find anyone I could trust with my hair. I finally heard of a salon that had great reviews and came well recommend by a great friend. I had to try. I knew from the moment I stepped inside NYC salon I found a place I could call home. NYC salon is not only a professional place in a warm and inviting environment, but for the time I was there I felt like I knew them my whole life. What A happy environment filled with happy people. I knew it was great already. I was escorted politely to have my hair washed. OMG my wash was fantastic. I had so many questions and each one answered in a very professional manner and most of all with a smile. I sat down and wow, comfy chairs, great music. I enjoyed my experience to the fullest. The best part was the before and after. My hair was full of life they cut it the way I asked. Having long hair is hard to trust when cutting inches. I can't express the gratitude for finding such a great place. I now look fabulous and feel great. Best of all they use nothing but great product and also have a team of experts. Thank you NYC salon for giving me great hair and bringing me back to my Home. I can't wait for my next appointment. read more

I love these ladies! I'm transitioning from relaxed to natural and these ladies are the only ones I trust to properly straighten my hair. Everyone speaks Spanish which I think is really cool even though I don't speak it and they have merengue playing all the time which makes it hard not to get up and dance while they're working that flat iron lol. My hair always feels soft, bouncy and healthy after they're done and they're so flexible with walk ins. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Worst salon I have ever been to. The owner (short blonde hair) very rude. All the staff talks shit in their language about the customers. I think I've went to almost every last one of these beautiful ladies and I am always treated good and with respect. The fact that they speak Spanish doesn't bother me at all, if that's the language they are more comfortable with speaking I'm fine with it. However, I don't think they are talking crap. I'm from California and I'm used to my stylist keeping it real with me so if my hair is really damaged and they tell me I'm not easily offended it's the truth. Also I don't think they have a problem with African American hair, as Latin people come in different colors with different hair textures which is why I love coming here, they are certainly not afraid to straighten some naps and kitchen lol. Since coming here I am actually more comfortable with my natural (unrelaxed) hair. Give these ladies a chance they are educated and cool as hell. Oh yea and remember everyone's hair is different so it will act differently than someone else's hair! You have to find a style right for you. Just keep going and let the ladies get your hair healthy first. The wind will style your hair when you come out the salon hair bouncing!! Lol seriously! read more

Ok.. their skills are off the chain.. I won't lie about that.. and coming from NYC my standards for hair are quite high.. but their prices are OUTRAGEOUS! Id prob have to take out a second mortgage to upkeep my hair coming here! I came from paying $25 for a wash and set (rollers and blow dry) and they charged me $35.. I gagged when they charged my gf $70 when they originally told her $40.. that's a $30 difference! I wish I could keep coming here.. but I just can't afford it.. I think they need to take a better look at their prices and then they may have me as a regular. read more

Typical NY DR salon. I have 4c hair and I got a wash, D.C., blow out, flat iron, trim for $70. My hair was LAID. I loved my hair when I was done but I realized I can't go on the regular 'cause they straight up ripped through my hair with a small tooth comb. This is probably a great place to go if you're relaxed and if I do relax I'll probably go back but if you're natural be aware they are NOT gentle with your hair. AT ALL. The wash lady washed the hell out of my hair and it felt great, the problem is that on 4c hair that creates massive tangles which your stylist will straight up rip apart..... yep. I'm telling you. They WILL RIP through your hair with a fine tooth comb. I originally asked for a roller set (having a flashback to when I was relaxed in high school) but they were like "we can't get the rollers into your hair" so I was like cool, just blow it out. She did tell me to make my hair more "tame" I should get a keratin treatment, which honestly I am entertaining. She blew out my hair and I was happy with the end result, I mean really happy with it. BUT. I KNOW how we naturals are and I'm WARNING you, they will not treat your hair like you want it to be treated. read more

Took my wife here recently because she is Dominican. We came all the way from the west valley desperately looking for a Dominican salon so she could get a relaxer treatment. She had been to other shops but wasn't satisfied with the results or the price. I'm sad to say this was just more of the same. All they wanted to do was sell her a Keratin treatment and cut her hair (I've been trying to get her to grow it). We're probably not going to try again for as pushy as the stylist was. i would say if you live close to the shop then you'll get a decent cut or style, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there as the prices and BS is the same as the other shops. read more

After my fourth time getting my hair done, at this typical DR hair salon, I really loved the way they worked with my curly hair, so I kept going back. Always paid about 120-140 for highlighting and color, style included. I recently went and had the same thing done, color and highlights. The lady doing my hair never gave me an estimate of how much it would be. Never asked me if I wanted to have my hair put in rollers either. Because I asked to have her add some curls, I was charged $260 dollars! They totally took advantage of me. Make sure you get an estimate before letting them do your hair ladies. I'll never return again. Totally unprofessional to charge some that kind of money without consulting with the customer first. read more
