Decor/actual restaurant: This particular location is very small and tight with limited in-store seating. The interior is cute, I like the blue color theme they have here. For a restaurant designed for to-go orders, I believe that there could be more waiting room and a couple less chairs. Service: Like many "fast food adjacent" restaurants, the people who work there have good customer service but I imagine deal with the worst. I know they're doing great with the situation they're in. Kudos to them. Food: this is probably my harshest critique. I ordered a pesto chicken sandwich, and it was fine. I don't believe it was worth the $16 I spent though. The chicken was kind of bland, tasted similarly to frozen grilled chicken pieces you buy from a grocery store. I do wish there was more sauce. The pesto tasted good but overall there was too much bread. I fear you would be better off making something like this at home for a comparable price. The bread was good, just too much. I don't want to base the menu on this sandwich alone, a lot of the menu options sounded delicious, but this was just the experience I had!

This was my first time seeing one with roasted duck though. Just a heads up that the street felt a bit sketchy even though it's near the edge of Chinatown. We were unfortunately harassed by someone outside of the store and ended up giving him a few dollar bills... ＊Chinese Sausage Mala Wrap $10 ** The lap cheong was spread so evenly throughout that I got some in almost every bite. The mala aioli was quite spicy, but not overpowering or lingering. The crispy shallots added such a nice crunch too which I loved! ＊Duck Tsangwich $16 I was quite surprised that the roast duck skin stayed crispy! The crackly cookie topping could've been thicker since it was pretty flat. They give you chili oil on the side, but it was already super flavorful with the hoisin sauce. Only thing I wished for was more cucumber and scallion to help balance out the richness.

((4.5 stars)) Sunny…read moreand Annie's is very much a 24/7 neighborhood gem of a corner store and deli. it's packed with packaged foods--candy, chips, cookies, ice cream, soft drinks, beer, and a lot more plus the deli counter serves ups an endless list of creative sandwiches. i am not going to say this place is cramped but it kinda is. for example, if people stand in the wrong areas of the store, it will cause a complete standstill of a traffic jam in the store. my advice: order from the deli (and stand somewhere people aren't trying to get to) or grab whatever you need, pay, and leave. this place is not a place to linger. keep it moving. anyway, the obvious draw of Sunny & Annie's is the endless list of sandwiches that are handwritten cards that are stuck outside glass of the deli counter. there is literally something for the pickiest eaters--from hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, wraps, and more. some sandwiches are named celebrities, politicians, etc. i have ordered a bunch of different sandwiches and have not made it through much of the menu. you can also create your own Frankenstein monster of a sandwich. while the sandwiches are a big part of the draw, the insane amount of snack foods crammed into the store is quite remarkable from the large stand of Doritos, Takis, Cheetos and other popular branded snack foods in the front to the separate stand of Wise snacks to an entire back corner of the store filled with all kinds of chips, popcorn, etc. imo, Sunny's has the freshest-tasting Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn. i know an insane take consider it's a packaged popcorn snack from a megacorp (PepsiCo), but i'll die on this hill. maybe it's cause Sunny's sells a lot of Smartfood popcorn so it gets refreshed often, maybe they have a secret in/pipelinbe from the factory, or it's just magic/alchemy. i don't know, but the Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn never tastes stale-ish like it does at grocery stores, the bags never feel deflated because they have been on shelf long, and the popcorn never has that soft mouthy feel but still has the crunch to it. maybe it's just me, but Sunny's serves a great list of sandwiches...AND the freshest Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn. beyond the snacks, the service from the deli to cashier is upbeat and friendly. in all seriousness, Sunny and Annie's is an Avenue B institution at this point and remains a charming family-owned store--and is NOT a sterile modern clone of a neighborhood business.

As I took it out the store, it was like I was holding a bomb in my hands. It's literally massive! Unfortunately, I didn't have cash, so I did pay the up charge... But the $20+ is worth it since it is so big & can feed you for 2-3 meals! The Bomb sandwich is made with a hero bread that is like the length of my forearm! It has all the cold cuts you can possible think of (with several pieces of each one). Then comes the veggies like lettuce/tomato. The thing that is unique here is that they add peppers. The peppers add a spicy/sweet/tarty kick to the whole sandwich & it balances the taste really well. The sandwich can definitely be cut into 4 pieces & very well feed 4 different people and they would feel satisfied. It's also very tall so you really need to open your mouth wide to bite into the sandwich. Overall, the food is great! It does live up to the hype & it's a try-at-least-once kinda sandwich. Despite all the ingredients they put in there, the workers literally put everything together in minutes & really wrap it up nicely like it's an art form. They have been doing this for years & it really shows.

We ordered the Pisillo and the New York, but unfortunately, I never got to try the New York because they messed up my order and gave me another Pisillo instead. When I pointed this out at the counter, they apologized but offered to either make me a new sandwich at an additional cost or cut some chicken off and give it to me on the side. Seriously? Why should I have to pay extra to get the sandwich I originally ordered because of their mistake? They then offered to make the sandwich spicy with some peppers, but it still wasn't spicy. As for the Pisillo itself, it was decent, but I've had better Italian sandwiches elsewhere. The portions are undeniably huge, but you're also paying for that size, so the value isn't quite as impressive as it might seem. The service was disappointing. While the staff did apologize, the proposed solution to their own order mix-up was frustrating and didn't leave a great impression. The atmosphere is casual and no-frills, typical of a sandwich spot. Overall, the sandwiches are massive, but size alone doesn't make a great sandwich. Given the underwhelming food and how the order mix-up was handled, I wouldn't go out of my way to return.
