We weren't able to get a reservation but went ahead and stopped by Smor on a Sunday afternoon. Not surprisingly there was a wait which ended up being a half hour for a table. Smor is probably the smallest restaurant that I have been to and they try to make the most out of the space (there are tables outside which help provide much needed additional capacity weather permitting). Had the Hangover Sandwich (meat was a little dry but the sandwich was good overall) with a side of excellent Salt & Pepper Fries and the Pancakes (very good) with a side of Smoked Salmon.
Came here on a saturday morning at 11:30 AM and it was quite crowded, so I would definitely recommend a reservation. It was a small but cute space. I ordered the curried herring smorrebrod and really enjoyed the unique curry flavor. I also really liked how fresh the fish was. The bread was a bit tough, but was very hearty and filled with seeds. The smorrebrod is a bit on the smaller side.
I walked by Smor and it looked enticing so I stopped in. All table inside and outside were taken which I thought had to be a great sign. The shop itself is super cute with friendly staff. I ordered a cookie and a cinnamon bun to go. Maybe I chose incorrectly, but the chocolate chunk cookie was bad. It had a burnt taste and overall unpleasant, spongy texture/ mouthfeel. It was quite disappointing for the price ($4). The cinnamon bun was very soft and tasty ($4.75).
This is such a cute little spot in EV. The prices are reasonable and the staff was very kind. We immediately loved the range of non-alcoholic drinks - there was something for every taste. I loved the lemon, lime and bitters drink! Standouts for food were the whipped ricotta and the beans in broth. Super flavorful and comforting. Everything came in big portions which was a plus, so it was easy to share and take leftovers. I'd love to come back and try the cafe portion of the restaurant.
Went to Iceland last year and had there famous hotdogs. When I came back, I've been searching for something close to that. The danish dog here is the closest thing to that. The crispy onions and the sauce make this one of the best hotdogs I've tried before.
This place has been on my list for a while now. The hangover sandwich was so good!!! I definitely need to come back for this!
Came here on a Saturday without a res, ended up waiting ~1 hour. Probably wouldn't go back unless I had a res! I got the everything plate, which was a good assortment. I thought the rye bread was a tad dry, but it was good paired with the other items. We also got the ricotta toast, which was good but wish the jam was a tad sweeter!
Really cute Scandinavian restaurant! Went here for brunch and was able to try a bunch of their dishes. My favorite was the white fish salad. It was citrusy and refreshing My only complaint is that the searing is super tight. I was sitting in a booth and it could barely fit three people. The seating outside is also quite crammed and some don't have shaded umbrellas to cover you during your meal so keep that in mind if that's something important to you!
The food at Smor is consistently tasty and well-executed, and there are a ton of nutritional choices on the menu. I have enjoyed the grain bowl with soft boiled egg, the big breakfast, and the chicken salad sandwich. The cardamom bun is one of the best in the city. The service is friendly, but they are consistently slow about refilling water. I have never gone to Smor without needing to ask for a water refill after a long period of waiting. Avoid the coffee, but the matcha latte and lemonades are good. Definitely make a reservation to avoid a wait on the weekends.
Awesome pastry selection. Saffron bun was so unique it got us questioning if we've ever had saffron on its own before! Loooved how fluffy the eggs in the bec were especially with the tarragon aioli smothered on the bottom brioche bun. French fries also deliciously crispy! with a huge glob of sauce that should've been placed on the side instead imo. Danish hot dog was better than american hot dogs imo the mustard like sauce with the fried onion were the ingredients to switch things up
Food/drinks: yum and simple! Not anything mine blowing Atmosphere: really really cute, love the furniture and details of the walls but very tiny Service: good! Price: $$ pricey
Had a lovely brunch at Smør. The everything bowl was everything I could want in a brunch plate! I do wish it had more smoked salmon though--felt limited compared to the smorrebrod. The potatoes were perfectly crispy and seasoned. Only downsides are the menu does not have espresso beverages (you have to go next door and order separately, and there's often a long line) and the inside seating is very limited and cramped. Eating outside is the way to go, so probably not ideal for colder weather days. Food is great though so would probably try coming again on sunny, non-peak days!
Smor the restaurant was alright, nothing too spectacular, but also not terrible. I got the everything salad, and it was alright. The everything salad had avocado, salmon, lettuce, bread, and egg. Nothing really stood out about the salad, and it didn't have too much flavor to it, or a unique taste to it. It was a regular salad, just ok. The space was pretty small, but had a modern Nordic ambience to it. It's best to RSVP before hand, because it can get crowded and busy at night. The service was alright, nothing extraordinary or terrible. The food came out pretty quickly and the price was alright/average. I prefer SMOR the bakery, a bit more, since it had more variety on the items that it served or had. Price:$20 Rating: 6.5/7

I posted this review on February 28, 2026, but it somehow got deleted. "This is a cute place. It's rather inconspicuous. No flashy signs or neon lighting; the name of the restaurant is simply painted on the side of the building, but hidden a bit by the umbrellas and outdoor seating. The vibe inside is chill. Tonight's playlist included Sza, Clairo, and Kali Uchis. Everyone in the restaurant appeared to be in their 20s and 30s. There was one waiter who also served as the host and bartender. Additional staff was preparing food in the back. The interior of Smør is small. It's like a café. There were three booths for four people each, three small metal tables for two people each, and the bar could seat four people on stools. We had a reservation for 6:30 pm. Several people came by and inquired about eating inside, but all that was left was exterior seating. I ordered the Danish hot dog. The remoulade was light and tasty, the onions were crunchy, and the pickles were fresh, but not sour. The hot dog had a great snap and the bread tasted homemade. Wonderful textures going on with this. I'd get it again. My husband got the Swedish meatballs. He said it was exactly what he wanted it to be. A great dish for a winter evening. The pancakes are amazing. Swimming in butter and topped with whipped cream and lingonberry sauce. The best thing I've tasted this month. If you come to Smør, get the pancakes; they were the best thing I've eaten this month." read more

Hangover Sandwich ($14) - I was blown away by how good this sandwich was. The remoulade and tarragon aioli were clearly the highlights because of how flavorful they were. I'm also not the biggest fan of pickles but theirs were perfect! read more
I really liked the food I got here. My friend and I came here and put our names down for a table. We waited for 30-45 mins. We were seated outside and shared a table with a different group. We got: - chicken club sandwich: kinda messy to eat but super good - sweet potato fries: these are my favorite kind of fries!! read more
Came here without a reservation and was told it would be about an hour to be seated, but after about 15 minutes they called us to let us know there was a table outside available, so we scurried back. Luckily we were in the shade of the umbrella, but the other party they seated at our table was right in the sun. The hangover sandwich was delicious and I would definitely order it again. The fries and sweet potato fries were also both pretty tasty, but the whipped ricotta toast and curry dog I probably wouldn't order again. read more

Great cardamom bun, evenly baked and very pretty. The other seasonal tea cake and danish also looked phenomenal. Staff was quick so the line moved fast. The store is small and the tables are all very close but considering the space they had a good number of seats. read more
Such a simple but delicious brunch menu. This restaurant is also right next to its sister bakery so we were able to grab coffees and bring them right next door to brunch. The ricotta toast and the avocado toast are my favorites but the sweet potatoes are also fantastic. Great brunch, pastries (especially the cardamom buns), and drinks. read more
Smor in the East Village: A Local Hidden Gem Nestled in the East Village, Smor is one of those rare finds that feels like a well-kept secret, one you'll want to shout about once you've tasted their sour dough breads. The cozy spot may not boast a flashy interior/exterior, but once you step inside, you're greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it feel like an intimate neighborhood haven. The staff here is very nice and welcoming and if you're lucky you will see them making the pastries in the front window. The menu at Smor is a delightful celebration of fresh, seasonal ingredients, and every dish is crafted with care and attention to detail. Here are a few highlights that stand out: Olive Focaccia - A must-try. This simple yet exquisite bread is the perfect balance of soft, chewy interior and a slightly crispy, golden crust. The briny olives are folded throughout, giving each bite a pop of flavor that's hard to resist. It's perfect as a snack or paired with a cup of their well-brewed coffee. Everything Rolls - If you're a fan of the classic everything bagel, you're going to love Smor's version. Seasonal Donuts - Smor elevates donuts beyond the ordinary with their seasonal varieties. AEC - Avocado Egg Sandwich- For something savory, the avocado egg sandwich is a standout. The creamy avocado is paired with a perfectly cooked egg, nestled on a soft brioche bun. It's simple but satisfying, and with their homemade aioli, it takes it to another level. A great option for breakfast or a light lunch. Pair all of this with their expertly brewed coffee, and you've got the perfect meal to start your day. Whether you prefer a Cold brew, a frothy latte,my favorite the cafe au lait , Smor's coffee never disappoints, offering just the right balance to complement the flavorful food. Smor's unassuming charm, fresh ingredients, and attention to detail make it a standout. It's the kind of place you'll want to return to again and again, whether for a casual bite or to unwind with a comforting cup of coffee. A true hidden gem in the East Village that deserves all the praise it's quietly earned. In short: - Local favorite - Great coffee and deliciously unique pastries and sour dough breads, not your average bakery - Delicious Eggers read more
Amazing brunch with great flavor and reasonable prices! I got the whipped ricotta toast to share and got a whitefish bowl. My friend got an everything bowl. Everything tasted so fresh and I loved the balance between the slightly sour rye, perfect white fish and citrusy salad. The whipped ricotta was also interesting and tasted more cheesy than the usual ricotta. Me and my friend were both stuffed from this meal. I recommend getting a reservation because I came for weekend brunch around 12:30 and waited for about 45 mins. Note that the place is also pretty cramped and has a shared outdoor seating area so keep that in mind. I would recommend this place for anyone craving a fresh brunch! read more

Having finally been to a Scandinavian country now I can confidently say cafes like Smor represent the region well. They take the aesthetics of spaces seriously, so I'd say it's important to note the uniformity of the wood finishings across the cabinets, counter tops, booth seats, and flooring as much as it's important to note their simple and straight forward menu. They know how to make minimalism beautiful. This small eatery has a simple menu of salads, soups, and sandwiches, each made with care and the best ingredients. My sweet potato soup was light but soul warming, with a few sprigs of dill for health and aromatics. I shared the everything bowl, which had nova, avocado, toasted rye bread, boiled eggs, pieces of brie, and house salad with pickled red onions with a friend, and while this dish is simple, the quality of the ingredients elevated it. It came with another house salad on the side, so we were swimming in house salad, which I didn't mind. Their pastry selection at their bakery next door is a bit more exciting, but for a simple healthy meal on a crisp fall day, I can think of few better places to have lunch in the East Village. read more
What a gem! We only got two items but both were so very good. The egg, bacon & cheese on brioche had this incredible, creamy green aioli that put this sandwich over the top. The bacon was perfectly crispy and eggs were fluffy goodness. The pancakes were super unique. Think a thick crepe with some tasty blueberries, whipped cream and seasonal house jam. The slight note would be to have a little bit more of the jam than the whipped cream bc it was drowning in it but still gave this spot a 5 star. Must come back to try more things!! read more

Solid brunch spot - had to make a resy, but it was worth it in my opinion. The chicken salad sandwich was light and great on the palate and the whitefish looked superb. Not a bad to say about this spot-- luckily the weather permitted a nice outdoor eating! Cheers! read more
I went here for dinner a while back with a group though this spot is more well known for brunch which makes sense as the best food I had was the dish that is available at said time. Service was friendly and the place is small. To drink, I had the "Americano" for $12 as many of the other cocktails has prosecco in them. It had cappelletti, vermouth, soda, and citrus and it was refreshing and tasty being negroni spritz-esque. My appetizer was the Conserva with wild sardines, lemon wedge, salted butter, and sourdough for $14. Conserva literally refers to canned fish (well better quality/fancier than the usual) and it was served as such with a semi-open can along with the pieces of bread and butter. I can't tell if I disliked or liked the presentation as it looked more like a food depression plate but the fish quality was good. I tried a salad from someone else which was pretty tasty and someone else had the white beans which they liked. My main was the Smoked Trout Noodles consisting of Danish smoked trout, buckwheat noodles, snap peas, pickled carrots, soft boiled egg, and roe for $22. This was pretty different with a strong fishy flavor of course from the very tasty smoked trout. The eggs added some nice richness and had some briny caviar on it. Unfortunately the noodles were a bit overcooked and there was some type of greens all over the plate (I believe tarragon but I'm not sure) which was pretty unappetizing and I had to remove most of it to enjoy the flavor. Speaking of tarragon, another person had the Hangover Sandwich which I tried a bit of which was tasty. The tarragon worked better here and the beef was tender and I would get that next time if I wasn't here presumably for brunch the next time I go here. For dessert I had the Danish Pancakes which were served with cream and homemade jam for $12 which were excellent. Nice soft texture to the pancakes and not too sweet with a good jam (I think raspberry or lingonberry but I'm not sure.) This would make a very tasty brunch and I can see why it's popular and I would likely go here and just get one of these and their Americano to drink and leave happy. The food here was pretty good. It was worth it for the price point though not all the flavors worked well. I would go back here and get other dishes or more likely go here for brunch or something instead of dinner. Mid/up 3. read more

Super busy for Sunday lunch, but the estimated 2 hr wait was only 45! Good outdoor seating and super quick service. Whipped ricotta toast - balanced flavor and the bread was a perfect texture Veggie sandwich - would have liked if it was toasted or more crunch Club sandwich combo - satiating, crisp, fresh Both hot dogs - hot dog itself was a little underwhelming, was expecting a higher quality meat, but good condiments and flavor profile Bacon eggs and cheese - was good on the brioche and had a nice sauce but was missing something more crispy, was maybe a bit to soft of a bread Overall yummy and would come back. Drinks are decently priced. Mimosa is a little small but the elderflower spritz was good, couldn't taste the elderflower too much though. read more
Came here for dinner and it was a little hard to find but it was so cute inside once we found it! My friends and I shared the corn fritters, salt and pepper fries, and the toast skagen (everything was so good! The fries were definitely on the saltier side but addicting). Then I ordered the smoked trout salad (really good but one of the rye toast pieces was a little too crispy/burnt) and my friends ordered the hangover burger and fish and chips and really enjoyed! read more

We recently had a lovely casual dinner at Smør. The interior is quite small with some booths and simple pale wood decor that feels very Scandinavian, there are some tables outside on the pavement also. The staff are welcoming and kind. The food is a mix of sandwiches, salads and plates all typical of Denmark. We had a shrimp sandwich and the Everything plate. The sandwich was packed full of shrimps in a light creamy sauce, well flavored and it came with chips and a cucumber dill salad. The Everything was a plate with salad, smoked salmon, avocado, egg, cheese and some of their delicious bread from the Smør cafe/bakery down the street. The food was simply prepared and delicious, really good quality ingredients that tasted clean and fresh. The prices were very reasonable. We'll definitely be back here very soon and breakfast at the bakery is on the card too! read more

This place is a vibe. Super chill and airy interior, very nice ambient place for a casual hang. Really wanted IKEA food but better on a Saturday evening so stopped in, and seriously the food was so good and did not disappoint. Super fresh, hit the spot, delicious. Highly recommend the pancakes of course: house-made and fresh off the griddle, they make the whipped cream melt into them for that goodness. Gravy + meatball + lingonberry always hits too. Just so good. Huge shoutout to the SERVICE: I left my purse at the booth and our server ran down the street to give it back to me. When I realized I'd left my bag I turned around to go back and he was already there, with my bag. HUGE PLUS. THANK YOU DUDE read more

A cozy Scandinavian cafe in the East Village. It's perfect for a relaxed afternoon snack. We stopped by Smør about 2 PM and were seated immediately--no waiting at all, just super friendly and quick service. I ordered the Danish hot dog, and it was absolutely delicious, with perfectly portioned ingredients and a fantastic sweet-savory mustard. But the big star? The fries. They were super crispy and fresh right out of the fryer and completely incredible with that white creamy dipping sauce. I definitely recommend for a casual bite! read more
Smør in the East Village is a Scandinavian eatery serving hearty Nordic fare. We came ready to feast for dinner and started off with a Danish hot dog, whitefish tostada and corn fritters. I'll tell you this, Smør serves a mighty tasty glizzy. I'd come back just for the hot dog. Mains were the Swedish meatballs, fish and chips and hangover sandwich. The Swedish meatballs were a standout for us amongst the entrees. For dessert we had the olive oil cake and danish pancakes. Smør is a great, affordably-priced, hearty meal for the colder months. Come to Smør to feel the hygge read more
