During our recent heat spell, I started spotting droppings and a few flying insects that I wasn't quite sure about. I called 1st Choice Pest Management and they verified that the insects were indeed termites. They walked my property and found several areas where the wood had been destroyed and inspected the attic, where they found more termites. They came back and sprayed the attic with a product that kills the termites without any danger to people or pets. They removed, replaced and painted all the damaged wood. They cleaned up and took away all the debris and provided a warranty for their work. They are reliable, knowledgeable, professional and friendly. I highly recommend this company. read more

1st choice was referred by our pest company, R&D Pest. We had another company do a termite inspection and their quote was 2x more for spot treatment in our attic. We had wood rot in our eaves and the other company was also charging 2x more than a real roofer. John was honest with his findings and we were pleased with our experience that we referred them to our relatives. They offer a two year warranty. They found not only evidence of live termites but also poor work done by the company who tented and repaired wood damage 6 years ago. We had subterranean termites swarming out from under our baseboards. 1st Choice came out and made a report and gave an estimate for treatment which was significantly lower than another quote I had received. Everyone I spoke to throughout the process was friendly and knowledgeable. They performed a drill and treat of my foundation and trench and treat on the outside. We haven't seen any termites since. 1st Choice was the termite inspection company selected by our sellers in a transaction I was in. My buyers and I took a little longer than expected over the Easter holiday to produce our request for repairs, and Charlene at 1st Choice was SO accommodating she had termite work done the day it was submitted - including carpentry! During the conclusion of the transaction, there was a discrepancy in the terminology used in the report, and Charlene took charge - she was coordinating between the lender, the listing agent, and myself, the buyer's agent, to make sure everything was smooth. She had what could have been a deal killer totally resolved in less than an hour! read more

The other 1 star reviews are 100% on par - Negative 5 stars still wouldn't be enough to describe this company. Our AWESOME pest company K&M was here doing the quarterly spray/check and found evidence of termites. We'd actually suspected it for a couple of months but decided to stay in denial. We were shown all of the areas of droppings, the damage (and where it had been "patch fixed" during the home inspection 5 months earlier when we bought the house) and even some actual dead termites stuck in a spider web under the eaves. K&M said they could absolutely handle it but if we were still under warranty we should go that route first. This is where the downfall began - when I found out we were still under warranty but it was by this sad excuse of a company. I'm not sure which realtor chose them but considering they both live in my neighborhood they've both been told not to do business with them anymore. It all started with a call to inquire about them coming out to handle the termite problem that we were having considering we were still under warranty. The first call goes like the rest - the manager is on another line and she'll call you back. Meanwhile I'll sit here and patiently continue to stress, no problem. I called again just before the end of the day and they were a bit rude saying they'd call me back within 24 hours. Ooookay. My house is being EATEN ALIVE but what do you care the voices inside my head screamed. The next day the manager called me back and asked where the damage was trying to worm her way out of what they actually may have treated and eventually said "well it's been 9 months but sure, they'll send someone out." Fallacy #1: We had only purchased and been in the home 4 months. But even if it had been 9 months? THE WARRANTY IS FOR ONE YEAR. So I'm not sure what the point of that is. She said she'd try to coordinate a "technician" to come out with a truck/chemicals so IF he did find something he could just treat on that visit. Okay, I like the sound of that! Then a couple of days go by....and I call....and I call...and I always get her voicemail or that the manager "is on another line" routine. Eventually they send out a (huge air-quotes here) "technician." I had to run out but my husband was here when the guy showed. And he showed with a TON of excuses and nothing else. He left without doing anything. So I called the manager. And I called. And eventually she called me back with even more excuses. "Just because the home has them now doesn't mean we missed them. We only spot treated, we didn't tent the whole house - so you have no proof that we actually missed anything and that those are there because of us. We spot treated...blah blah blah." Considering how much we paid during the inspection and such I'd hate to see what they actually charge for a legitimate service. It boiled down to the fact that they'd only cover the spots they treated before, not the whole house unless we wanted to pay for that separately. Wow. Great warranty. We attempted to schedule them to come out figuring it was a starting point. And I called and I called, and eventually my husband called a few times. Eventually the "manager" called me back and told me to "Tell your husband to calm down" and that they weren't ignoring us, but there was impending rain and they needed to wait that out and they "rest assured" would call us back to schedule. Wow. He maybe called twice, I called a dozen times. He was always calm but firm that we needed this handled. We were also leaving the country and our dog wouldn't be home so we wanted this scheduled while we were gone. It didn't rain. Days came and went. The phone never rang. We called K&M and within a week the contract was signed, the service scheduled, the additional necessary visits and supplies dropped off and were completed. We had to pay a lot of out pocket for this. But we were taken care off and respected and knew our home was in good hands. We never heard from them again. This was months ago. "Rest assured" you're on your own with this company. If you remember to check out who your realtor or the listing agent is going to use ahead of time tell them NOT to use this company. The best part is that after all of our ignored pleas, calls, and their empty promises we received a letter in the mail the other day to re-new our contract. All it did was remind me I needed to do this review. Renew our "contract?" The one where you come up with excuses and do nothing? Now THAT is worthy of a hearty chuckle! read more
