Honestly, it makes me very sad to have to write this because the food at 1886 Brewing was genuinely very good. My girlfriend and I came here for the first time on Monday, January 5th. The place had a very welcoming ambiance, and we really liked the giant beer canisters behind the bar. We ordered food for pickup but decided to sit at the bar and ordered two mocktails while we waited -- those were really good as well. Our order included the fish and chips, Brussels sprouts, shepherd's pie, Lulu grilled chicken Greek salad, and the 1886 burger with garlic feta fries instead of regular fries. We took the food home that night. I had the fish and chips, and my girlfriend had the Lulu chicken salad -- everything was great. We were honestly excited thinking we may have found our new go-to spot since our old one is now too far away. The next day, I went to work (I work overnights from 5:30 PM to 4:00 AM) and brought the 1886 burger, garlic feta fries, and Brussels sprouts for my lunch. Everything tasted just as good as the day before, especially the Brussels sprouts. However, while eating the burger, I suddenly choked on something I immediately knew was not food. I was alone in my truck at the time. Luckily, I was able to dislodge it on my own after about a minute, which was honestly very frightening. When it finally came out, I realized it was a piece of plastic. I don't know how it got there, but I still have it and am holding onto it in case the owner sees this and wants to see it for themselves. Because of the incident, my throat became sore and it was hard to breathe in the moment, so I had to leave work early. I feel normal now, but I'm still extremely disappointed and frustrated that this happened -- especially because we truly enjoyed the food and experience otherwise and wanted to come back. After this experience, I'm honestly not sure how to justify returning, no matter how good the food was. I just ask that the kitchen and staff be extra careful when preparing and assembling food. I stopped in here for dinner because I heard so many great things about this spot and it definitely didn't disappoint. I went during the baseball postseason, so I was able to watch the game and get a delicious meal! You can sit at the bar or in the other seats. I got a great mocktail and the highly recommended Chile Verde Poutine, which was incredible. It has way more meat than you might expect and it's not as spicy as it sounds. We went to 1886 Brewing Co. for brunch and absolutely loved it. We ordered the brunch board (brunch charcuterie-style), and it was loaded: waffle-battered chicken strips, sausage, candied bacon, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, French toast sticks, churros with caramel and Mexican chocolate dipping sauce, pancake bites with cinnamon syrup, seasonal bread pudding, and maple syrup. It's meant to be shareable, but we somehow ate almost all of it--which says everything about how good it was. Everything was hot, fresh, and really well done, with a perfect mix of sweet and savory. It's the kind of board that lets you try a little bit of everything without feeling like any item is just filler. We're doing sober January, and the mocktails here deserve a serious shout-out. We had two of the best mocktails we've had anywhere--thoughtful, flavorful, and beautifully made. It didn't feel like a compromise at all, and we're already excited to come back and try it again when we're drinking. We were up in Tustin this weekend so I could pick something up that I had purchased online and decided to make a day of it since we don't make it up here often. After our business had concluded, our first stop was to visit Old Towne Orange. I don't get up to Orange County too often and had never been to old towne before and it seemed like a cool area to check out so we made our way over there and it was a great experience. There was plenty of parking when we arrived and we were close by the town center roundabout. We decided to visit 1886 Brewing for lunch just based on the reviews we'd seen and we had a wonderful time there. I believe that they had just opened for the day because we were some of the first people in there. The layout of 1886 was very open with a long bar as well as a large dining room all of which afforded ample seating for guests. I love the interior of this place and it sort of reminded me of something you'd see from a western movie. We walked in and made our way to the bar where we were greeted by Mackenzie. She brought us too menus and waters and asked if we'd been here before of if she could get something started for us. I ended up getting a spicy Bloody Mary which also came with a sidecar and my fiancée ordered a michelada. Both drinks were wonderful and when I asked for my Bloody Mary to be on the spicy side, Mackenzie understood and executed the assignment perfectly. Although we had already had breakfast, my fiancée got avocado toast which wasn't on the menu but they were able to acquiesce and I had French toast sticks with a bowl of fruit. The food all arrived quickly, was presented and checked all the boxes. It was the perfect amount of food and satisfied our hunger perfectly to get us through the day. Both our visit to Old Towne as well as our visit to 1886 Brewing were perfect and I'm glad that we were able to try out something new in an area that we don't ordinarily get to visit. read more

My friend and I met here for a Tuesday night dinner. The place was open, airy, and casual. No hostess at the front, you sat yourself. Which is a curse and a blessing - you can choose your table but no one knows you've arrived. We noticed there were about 20-25 people in the restaurant and there were only two servers. Hmmmm... My friend is a server herself so she made sure to get the attention of one of the servers, which unfortunately was not ours. But eventually we were found. I just can't say enough nice things about this place. I just went for a walk with the dogs in the Orange Circle and stopped in for brunch in the patio. They said the patio was closed because of the wind but let them check. They totally accommodated us, even though a private party reserved the patio soon also. My son and I originally came in for a burger and both of us ended up trying some new items! First, we ended up seated outside on the patio where they have a lot of fans to keep you cool as well as it being covered. It was a very nice space with greenery and the rustic feel of a brewery. We started with the verde pork poutine over french fries. The french fries or crispy and seasoned well and the Verde pork was so tender and flavorful. The pickled onions with their sweet taste and contrast to the spicy pork were such a flavorful addition. My son had the Lulu's Greek salad as a wrap. There were 2 large wraps full of grilled chicken, mixed greens in lemon vinaigrette, roasted tomato, red onion, cucumber, and feta cheese. I was pretty full from the appetizer so I opted for the Gabagool Burrata flatbread. The crust was so buttery and crispy topped with large pieces of Burrata cheese, mozzarella, crispy capicola, pickled onions, arugula topped with a balsamic glaze drizzle. It was absolutely delicious!! We will definitely back ! And next time I am looking forward to the fish tacos! Which I heard were amazing. I also don't want to forget our amazing waiter Joseph, who was so incredibly sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. We always enjoy coming to 1886 Brewing Co. after an always wonderful visit at the nearby (and free!) Hilbert Museum of California Art. We are greeted warmly, seated quickly (we do make reservations via Opentable to get our points), and always receive quick and friendly service. Our last visit Joseph and Makayla took care of us.
