I was referred by Dr. Elson to take care of my keratoconus condition. I was fitted for Scleral lenses over several appointments and he was great each time. Very caring and wanted to make sure every fitting was comfortable and I could see correctly. This takes a lot of patience on both the doctor and patient since it's not a one time appointment, it takes time to make sure you have the correct fit, vision, prescription, etc... I was not a fan of trying these hard contacts but he convinced me through talking it over (pros vs cons) and if I did not see a positive result, I could go back to using my glasses. I was very happy he did, since I did not believe I could get better vision than what I was experiencing previously but I sure was mistaken. He is a great doctor, very patient, and understanding. Dr. Elson is a true contact lense Specialist. I know this because I saw another doctor that could not get my prescription right with my gas permeable contact lenses. The comprehensive eye exam is what I got from today's appointment, which is what I did not get from the other 'doctor'. This place is amazing, and Dr. Alex is the man! I came here desperate to get my prescription fixed because my current glasses were giving me migraines. Because of COVID, there were no other optometrists open and Dr. Alex fit me in during his after-hours because of how uncomfortable my glasses were making me. I had a complicated situation too, where the prescription I had in hand didn't match up to the glasses I was wearing. I needed someone to check out what lens was in my glasses while also updating the numbers. Dr. Alex listened to me carefully and spent so much time in assuring that I was taken care of. At the same time, I have some underlying eye conditions and Dr. Alex was very attentive to make sure that I receive the attention and care I needed in that regard. For example, he suggested a particular type of lens because my prescription is very high; that's something no other optometrist has taken the time to look into for me. He was honest in telling me what lenses I do and don't need (like blue light lenses). You absolutely don't need to be worried about being swindled or duped here (like many other places do!). I will be coming back here, along with my full family, for all of my eye-care needs. 17th street optometry has unmatched customer service and personalized friendly staff. I visited the optometry office twice this month and it's been great. The front office makes sure to open the door for you when you get there (after you call them to let you know you are there). They are all wearing masks and hand sanitizers everywhere! The office is very professional and clean (not just because of COVID). It was my first time at the office and seeing Dr. Toki. The exam rooms are clean and organized, which was nice since my previous optometrist office wasn't so neat. I went in for my dry eyes and double vision, and she was very attentive from the start. Lots of questions were asked, tests done, and I loved that she wanted to make sure I didn't leave without resolving my issues. I would highly recommend Dr. Toki! I'm pretty sure other optometrists in the office are just as nice. I've only seen Dr. Toki, but the overall office and staff are all professional and genuine! Highly recommend!!! Oh!!! Also, they explained all the options that my insurance allowed, which is a plus because my previous optometry office never explained what they are billing the insurance for and what I was responsible for. So just having that broken down and seeing it on a post it note for contacts was a plus. :) read more

Dr. Elson nailed my prescription and told me to use artificial tears (not the Visine I was using) for my dry eyes - ever since then I've really noticed an actual improvement in my eyes and really in my daily life! First time here to support private businesses but not a relaxing visit at all. Waited over 30 minutes to be attended after arriving on time for appointment only to be rushed through to the sales table. Asked to just browse but lady brought out like 10 pairs asking try these, try those and so on... None worked out for me. Asked for my prescription prior to leaving and still had to make me wait almost 10 min for it. Got home and of course it's incomplete... I get it, they want to make the sale but frames there were overpriced compared to manufacturers listed price and felt pressured to make a selection there. I just can't say enough good things about 17th street optometry! From the minute I placed the phone call to my actual exam with Dr. Elson I received exceptional service. I called this office in a panic, and looking for results. I had been seeing another optometrist who brushed me off when I complained I had randomly lost vision in my left eye. Not only did the staff at 17th optometry get me in right away Dr. Elson saved my sight.... LITERALLY. After a very through exam and the patience to answer all my questions (as I had a ton) Dr. Elson was able to work with a neurologist and in a matter of days have a diagnosis that needed immediate medical attention. Although, I had been referred to a neurologist for my loss of vision Dr Elson's bed side manner blew me out of the water! I received a personal follow up call on a SATURDAY... yes, a SATURDAY from the Dr. himself, to insure I was hanging in there. Once I had been through my course of medical TX I proceed to go back to 17th optometry. Thats when things just got better. The staff helped me pick out frames in a matter of minuets! Their honesty and exceptional customer service is beyond words. Although my diagnosis was a rare situation, if it wasn't for the staff getting me in right away or Dr. Elson being so through I could have lost my sight completely. I have tried other optometrists in the past, but always come back to see Dr. Broady and her staff. Especially now, as my vision has changed drastically, I need someone who is highly skilled who can help me with the proper lenses. She is extremely thorough and knowledgeable. I have never had a problem with the lenses, Dr. Broady has always been spot on! And, Carla has always been extremely helpful with choosing a frame that looks best on me. I just purchased three pairs and am super happy with them all. I have total trust and faith in this company as they are always kind and honest and I have been going there since they opened.
