Updated: I thought it was good the first time we tried it, but after a few more visits I realized it's just okay. Many of the main items on the menu are very heavy because it's Southern style. It is really nice decor/ambiance, though, so for happy hour/drinks it seems like a great place to meet. read more

This was our 1st time at 151 & we were beyond impressed!!! Our server, Brett F was beyond amazing!!! Super professional & friendly!!! The food was Ah-amazing!!!! Love the farm to table concept here!!! Delicious!!! I think we found a new favorite spot here in Elmhurst! read more

Pretty good. The place is so pretty but the food was just ok. I did like the drinks and the ambience.

Really enjoyed our night here! It was opening weekend and the restaurant was slammed. The food was delicious, the staff was wonderful, and the restaurant was fabulous! Good food, good service. We will be back!! read more

Excellent dinner date with friends, great vibes and good food. I really enjoyed their chicken dish and beer selection

My wife and I have eaten here twice and loved it both times. First, the food and service were excellent, but more importantly the menu is very diverse and original. My first meal was Lake Perch and the second was a very novel version of fried chicken. They also are able to open the front windows to give an open air feeling to the place. Nice ambience. We will visit regularly for dinner. read more

Great REAL food that's cooked with creativity. Quality on point and will be coming here again

I was disappointed that at 3:30 in the afternoon, only the brunch menu is available. We were hoping for an early dinner, not eggs or a sandwich. Ambience nice. Service good. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday for brunch and they were out of the chicken for two dishes our table ordered, the crispy chicken sandwich and chicken and waffles. They said the prep cook didn't marinate correctly and didn't want to send out sub par food, this would have been totally understandable but the rest of our experience was also pretty bad. Aside from having to change our orders twice at that point the food took forever to come out and we only had a omelette, salad, cold sandwich and side of Mac & cheese. Of course then the omelette was cold and the food that did come out was very small portions and mediocre. Very overpriced for what we got so either lower your prices or step up the food to match(my ultimate pet peeve is rip offs of this kind where restaurants overcharge & skimp). To note the Mac and cheese was good/the best dish. Service was also very slow. It was mentioned due to being out of the ingredients they might take something off our bill, they did not and instead gave a gift card to come back - no thanks. read more

Seated right away on a Thursday night. Salmon hush puppies were amazing! Service was excellent and love the decor.

First time here and had VERY noticeable spots on my silverware. I might normally be able to overlook that but then my glass actually had remnants of lip stick! Yuck! Seriously, who's doing dishes here?? It's not exactly an inexpensive place either, not that that would excuse such oversight, but I'm just saying. Moreover, being the "new kid on the block" I would expect closer attention to such matters. The atmosphere is great and the interior is well appointed, making for a very comfortable setting. Kudos to the interior decorator! The food has great presentation (check out the pics) and decent taste, but for the money there are plenty of other better options...Cafe Amano & Sushi Nest, to name a couple! In summary, if you're more interested in a cool atmosphere and don't mind paying extra for it then I'd say check this place out. If you're a more critical food junkie, however, I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

Some of my family and I dined at 151 for the first time, and it was a wonderful experience, start to finish! The rustic decor is simple, yet sophisticated. Jim, our server, was very pleasant and attentive, without being intrusive. The drink menu was interesting, with a nice variety of beer, wine and cocktails. The cauliflower soup was delicious! We each ordered a different entree, and shared the banana cake for dessert. Everything we ordered was a treat for the eyes as well as the palate! Definitely comfort food "reinvented" as promised--traditional food taken to a higher level! We tried the chicken, hanger steak, pulled pork and the trout, and were not disappointed. It was a unique dining experience. We'll be back! read more

FIRST TIME LAST TIME!! Terrible service, okay food, and came from the city to meet some people near the train station. Thought we would try out this place and were very disappointed. I understand food can be a hit or miss at many good restaurants. But service should always be expected in this type of business. For a Thursday night it was not that busy. With that type of service, I would imagine the weekends would be greatly affected. Oh well there's too much out there to give this place a second chance. read more

We came in here for a drink and stayed for the food. The food here is amazing. The giardiniera and duck bacon was the best. The doughnut holes, duck bacon benedict and crunchy French toast were also amazing. The mimosa was excellent! We sat by the bar and Brandon was a great bartender. read more

So badly want to like this place. But simply cannot. Service is horrible - slow, forgot to bring our appetizer, etc. when chef Evan was here the food was better. When Johnny was here the service was better. Pretty sure this is our last visit. read more

This has become my go-to brunch spot in Elmhurst. My fiance and I wound up here on a whim after deciding we didn't want to wait an hour plus at another place in town. The food is delicious, and we keep bringing other groups in! We have had everything from the Chilaquiles to the chicken and waffles, and the grain bowl to the quiche. And the coffee is great. The service is impeccable. Megan, in particular, is amazing. I'm pretty sure she only works on weekends in the mornings, but every time we've been in for brunch, she has been our server. She is attentive and personable, and indulges every question we've ever asked her - usually "What would you get if you were picking between this or that?" I can't say enough good things. Did I mention they also have a great lunch and dinner menu? From salads and sandwiches to salmon to mac and cheese. My only concern is that it is never hard to get a reservation - I hope they stay open! read more

Loved the ambience and the staff was polite and attentive when they were at the table. Also, the drinks are great. But overall service was slow and the main dishes were meh. We ordered the shrimp risotto, not very creamy or flavorful. The crabby mac was plain and tasteless. The pork chop was cooked very well but the side of polenta was dry and the corn garnishment was just ok. Desert was pretty awful. The cookie skillet was way overcooked to the point that the chocolate chips disappeared and the pound cake bites tasted like fried dough from the carnival. Pretty disappointed for the price point. Would go back for drinks and appetizers but probably skip dinner. read more

Great decor and atmosphere! The menu needs some improving. But I would definitely return.

We'll be back. We were very impressed with the starters & mains. The starters were so big we could have shared one but wanted to try them out. My husband had "mouse" & I had tartar. Really yummy. For dinner we also chose well. I had "pancake" & he had "pie". Both were fantastic and not too large. I brought half home because I couldn't leave a morsel of the tartar on the plate. The wait staff and front of the house staff were really friendly & helpful. The 4 stars is due to kitchen timing. We waited a bit long for the starters (worth the wait) but our main course came out too soon after and we were still eating the starters. I'm sure they'll fix the timing with more experience. All in all great restaurant addition to Elmhurst city center. read more

Traveling here for work, and I've stopped in twice. Great atmosphere, not too loud, I like that it feels a little upscale but definitely not fancy. Definitely will stop in again, and would recommend to anyone looking for a local feeling great food! read more

My husband and I had an unfortunate experience here. I don't typically give bad reviews and I'm generally forgiving of poor service, but this was just unacceptable. We stopped in here before going to see a movie, giving ourselves more than enough time. I ordered the Lobster Pasta which was not available because they were making the noodles?!? So instead opted for a tomato soup and baked brie. My husband ordered the flank steak. I would love to review the food but after waiting almost an hour (on a slow Sunday night)...it never came! Our appetizer did but was just ok (Salmon Hush Puppies). I'm still not sure why these somewhat simple dishes took so long to make. Ultimately I'm glad we made the decision to leave for our movie - it was great and the popcorn wasn't nearly as overpriced as One Fifty One. Sad because we have little kids and rarely get a date night. We won't be back here. read more

They do not treat people kindly here. Food is just OK. Good bar scene. That's about it. Dinner portions are very small and burgers are popular. We made a reservation and booked online for the wrong day. So we could not sit in the dining area and 4 of us crowded around a bar table to eat dinner. I know mistakes happen however this was our first time here. So this was a bad first impression. read more

This restaurant is GORGEOUS. Beautifully appointed with just enough "atmosphere" (not too quiet, not too loud). I love the grasses that separate some of the tables. The bathrooms are lovely. The lighting is perfect. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. He timed our meal quite well. I called today to share some feedback with Beau, one of the Managers. He was delightful and happy to hear feedback.... KIDS MENU: They have added a kids menu (the Adult grilled cheese was too fancy for my kids). They are looking at including chicken fingers, mac & cheese, grilled cheese and potentially pizza. I requested a salad for kids too! DRINK MENU: Yummy wines! Please add some TEQUILA (gluten free) to your Craft Cocktails. MENU: LOVE LOVE LOVE the brie appetizer. Please add more salads (keeping an eye to nuts and legumes and the gluten free crowd)! Beets? YUM! They are updating the entire menu and it should be ready by the beginning of February. YAY! Overall we had a really good experience. We are looking forward to returning to check out the new menu. read more

As an Elmhurst resident and local business supporter,I was so excited to try this restaurant! Great decor, nice menu that isn't so full of overwhelming choices, and in a prime location in the heart of the downtown area with easy access to parking. Con- terrible service and I really was shocked by how poorly we were treated. There was 1 nice hostess who greeted and seated us, but our server was either really off her game, was clueless on how to run her tables, or was poorly trained. Our server barely said 'hello' to us and ignored us throughout our evening. No warm welcome at all. We ordered beer and a bottle of wine as we were looking over the menu. Our server didn't introduce herself or ask us if we had any questions about the menu. She literally came to our table a few minuets after the hostess seated us and asked "what do you want to drink, and are you ready to order?" We gave her our drink order and she disappeared. After our drinks arrived by someone other than our server, we waited and waited for her to come back so we could order appetizer. We saw our server zooming around but she never made eye contact with us to gauge whether or not we were ready to place an order. So we flagged her down. We let her know we wanted to order our starter first, then to come back in about 10-15 minutes once the starter came, so we could place our dinner order. I get that we were specific about wanting the server to come back after our appetizer arrived before we entered our entree order, but we do that specifically because we've had timing issues with other restaurants where our appetizers arrive at the same time as our entree. We ordered the yummy Brie starter- and it was delicious! I recommend! It was brought to our table by kitchen staff without plates to serve it on. We sat for a few minutes thinking someone was coming back with plates, but no one did. We flagged down a table busser to get us a few plates for our appetizers. Our server never checked in to see how we liked the appetizer nor did she feel inclined to make sure we had plates to eat on. Our server was busy with other tables but I couldn't tell if she was even aware of what our needs were. She didn't come back to see if we liked the app or if we were ready to order entrees until we had to flag her down. My husband was ready to pay for our drinks and appetizer and go elsewhere since our server didn't seem to care. But as we were discussing whether or not to risk staying for the main course, she stopped by our table ready for our entree order. I really wanted to give it a chance, so I proceeded in ordering the pork, so my husband ordered the beef short rib. Pork chop is fabulous. The short rib was okay. We had to prompt the folks who brought our entrees for sharp knives though when our plates were brought out from the kitchen and again had to wait for the basic utensils needed to eat. Our server didn't bother to check on us while we ate our entrees. Sadly- disappointed and had high hopes for such a beautiful little restaurant. Maybe they need to work on fine tuning their service and anticipating basic needs of the customer, or perhaps there were other behind the scenes issues causing for such an unwelcoming experience. I'm willing to try going back but my husband has already decided he will not return. I'm hoping these are kinks they are working on sorting out and I'm hopeful other patrons had a much smoother experience than mine. This restaurant is much needed in our city and I want them to be a success! Upon my next visit, I'm hoping things have improved so I can give them more stars. read more

Nice, contemporary bar / restaurant in an excellent location downtown Elmhurst. No crowd, no wait for lunch on a Tuesday and the staff was very attentive and welcoming. The weather was perfect to sit outside on the sidewalk and the service was excellent. We had the asparagus soup, asparagus salad and pulled pork sandwaich. Everything was fresh and delicious. I will return and recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

I first came here for brunch with friends one weekend late in 2018. I loved the atmosphere, and it was easy to tell this place cares about their customer's experience. Food was fantastic and unique, service was prompt and accommodating, and the overall experience was great. Fast forward to March, 2019, I was looking for a venue to host my wife's 30th bday party. I reached out to over 20 places around the Chicago suburbs. 151 Kitchen was the only place that answered my inquiry with, "how can we make this event exceed your expectations?" The staff went out of their way to accommodate a party of 40 people with custom drink menus, a beautiful setup, and impeccable service. I cannot recommend them enough. Please go and check out this place - you won't be disappointed. read more

I really wanted to like this resturant. The decor was rustic chic and very appealing. The place was extremely clean and looked brand new. The problem though was the food. My table ordered the Waldorf and Spinach salads, both of which had a vinegar dressing that consumed the salad. The presentation of them was nice and they looked very appealing, but unfortunately we were unable to eat much of them due to the excessive amount of dressing. Someone at my table also got the Cobb salad, which had less dressing, but still too much, preventing them from eating the last 1/3. If you get any salad I would just advise to get the dressing on the side if you want to be able to enjoy it. read more

Came in for "Guest Appreciation Night" which I saw on their Facebook page. "Join us for complimentary tastings, cocktail name selection, and discussion on all things mixology! Complimentary Hors D'oeuvres while supplies last." Planned on eating dinner here during Elmhurst City Center restaurant week, a Prix Fix dinner was offered. But the hostess didn't even know about the event, the servers were also unprepared even though we arrived after the 6pm start time, complimentary appetizers were not good. I ordered the crab cakes which I had also seen on their Facebook page, they were just OK. Was looking forward to a lively evening of food and drink; this was a non-event, I'm sorry. We ended up not even staying for dinner at a place that my husband and I have previously been to and enjoyed. We try to support the local restaurants as we live in Elmhurst but I was very dissapointed this evening. We left and chose to eat dinner elsewhere. read more
