OMGAWD! This place is amazing, the drinks are amazing, the staff are amazing, the FOOD. You guys the food is so good I wanted to motorboat it. It's city food in the burbs and I am so glad I found it! I will be a regular here. read more

Just left and had an AWESOME brunch with Santa! Excellent food excellent service - highly recommended

The food and atmosphere were outstanding. Our server Gina was excellent. Our bartender Andrew made top notch drinks. A gem in downtown Elmhurst. read more

The food is pricey but locally farmed based foods and there is plenty to choose from in drinks. This is more of a wine place and the interior decor an d style of the place looks great as this is another welcome and new addition to the downtown Elmhurst dining and drinking adult scene. The staff was great and they spent some good chunk of dough to open this place. read more

Decided to give this place a second chance, another disappointing experience! Stopped in for lunch ordered a ham and cheese sandwich with broccoli carrot salad and my date ordered a farmhouse chopped salad. I sat there thinking what is the best was to describe our meals, the phrase acceptable not exceptional kept coming to mind. My interpretation is they're trying to hard to offer different presentations and flavors to dishes that are traditional, dishes that are defined by their name, dishes whose name brings immediately recognition. The ham and cheese sandwich was made with 1" thick slices of Brioche bread, off the bone ham, and some kind of cheese other than American. You might ask what's wrong with that, the bread was to thick I left it in the plate, the ham while good would have been more appropriate for ham and eggs, the sauce was to little to even taste. The chopped salad was more like a tossed salad that a chopped salad, there was minimal bacon and blue cheese, the eggs were crumbled and sparsely sprinkled/tossed into the salad, it just wasn't what you expect when you order a chopped salad! Stopped in and had a burger and a couple beers, $30 seems steep. Burger was so so, to many pickles which over powered everything else, had a strong charred taste, a little dry. Sat at the bar, very crowded, stools had low back rests and foot rests on front and back only, also no foot rest down low on the bar, uncomfortable! They just opened could still be getting their routine down, we'll try it one more time. read more

No complaints. Went for lunch and received friendly service and great food. Love the menu selections. The prices are a bit high but the farm to table aspect is worth it. Nice atmosphere and clean. Will return and recommend to others. read more

This place is so cool, nice contemporary vibe, rustic modern design, friendly staff, healthy menu. The portions are not the size of Texas like other traditional restaurants, which is made up by tons of flavor and quality ingredients. The steak and fritz was awesome! Went into the restaurant on 3/31/2028 for a quick drink around 9pm and was told, by the bartenderthat the place was closing early due to the college kids being on break and it's a slow night. We mentioned we wanted to just have a drink and the guy said that well one quick drink. I felt as though he really didn't want to take new customers or something else was going on. Either way, we left because we knew it was a bogus false story. So we went next door to Buffalo Wild Wings and got a couple cocktails and left around 10:30. We pass by the restaurant and we see more people and a guy taking off his coat as if he just arrived. I though to myself I thought they were closing. Actually the door says 11pm close time but i didn't want to argue because there are more places that will gladly take our money. This was my first experience and will be my last at this place. Just to think, I actually have friends that said The service was good. Wait until I tell them this story. The said part about it is you want to rush us in and out two hours before closing but let new people were in their when we left the restaurant next door. Super BOGUS!! Response to replay from restaurant We wanted a drink as stated above, no food. We actually told the guy that and he told us that we had time for one drink. Yet, others were there longer than we would have been. We left the bar and BWW and saw guys taking off their coats 30 mins before closing. Again, the guy was just super bogus and was trying to potentially go home early. Not sure why certain restaurants think people are crazy when it's so clear and obvious what the person was doing. Anyway, just a sad situation. read more

This was a great pick for someone from out of town on business. The bar was wide open (Monday) and inviting. Just a great atmosphere with the whole place open to the street. I would give the food a five. Had the smoked pork and salad. Enjoyed the salad more than the luke warm pork on the oversized focaccia. A little awkward to eat, but awesome flavor and quality. Couple of oddities - dirty silverware, dirty glass, overpriced drinks for what you get. I had to look hard toward the bottom of my glass for my bourbon. Also, felt bad for the bartender who appeared to be taking care of the whole restaurant. Overall, great job. I would return. read more

Cool vibe. Get the giardiniera to start. It comes with little chunks of cheese in it.

Stopped in out of curiosity for lunch. 1 o'clock on a Thursday. There were probably only 2-3 tables taken so the choice was ours. We had an awesome server named Brandon who knew everything you could possibly need to know about the menu and wine list. Brandon gave excellent service. Food came out very fast, within 10 minutes which was excellent for our quick lunch. I ordered the cheeseburger and it melted in my mouth. Not a lot of beef, but the beef that was there, was Top of the line. Awesome burger, great house sauce and fries. $15 for burger and fries. Worth it? I would say yes if it had more meat. Everything was very good. The vibe was a little off as it seemed like a ghost town around lunch and it was very empty, bright and quite. Not necessarily bad, just felt like we weren't supposed to be there. With the lights on, the emptiness, sun shining, the decor and furniture seemed like they bought it off the elmhurst public library. Kinda cheap stuff trying to look expensive. I have some of the same decor In my fish tank, just smaller versions. Not kidding. The plants. Don't get me wrong, with the candles lit and lights dim at night, it probably looks great and has a nice ambience at night. Our server did a great job of making us feel comfortable. He did his job and beyond. The only real big problem was.... The lunch menu. Just simply not enough options. There were probably 6 entrees, maybe 5?, to choose from. 2 of them being a chicken sandwich and fried chicken. They were out of chicken at that time so our lunch options were down to 4 - burger, pork sandwich, grilled cheese, and ham sandwhich.. Maybe I'm forgetting one? Well no to the grilled cheese, I'm an adult and need to be fed. No to the ham and Swiss, I can make that.. So burger or pork. They had a few salads and soups but we were looking to get full. Menu was one side piece of computer paper, expected to flip it over and see the real menu, but it was blank. The waiter kept talking about how dinner time gets really packed and the dinner menu is incredible. It seems like they just pray people don't come in for lunch because they haven't got that aspect quite figured out yet. I will definitely give this restaurant some time to figure things out before I come back. It really is a nice, fresh, hip place and I know it will do incredibly well. It takes time. If a stranger asked me? I would recommend it but for dinner only. If a friend asked me? I would ask do you want to pay $15 for pork sandwich? If not, you're paying $15 for a burger. Give it some time. It has huge potential. I may be getting repetitive at this point so... overall: farm to table, delicious food. pricey. Lunch for 3 was $100 tip included. Good local beer/wine. Cool ambience at night (I've heard), lunch was off. Tiniest menu with so few options. Great service. Give it a try and let me know so I know when it's time to give it another go! read more

151 Kitchen | Bar - Brilliant rose reccomended by our wonderful waiter Brandon - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Elmhurst, Illinois

This place is fantastic. I had raviolis that were to DIE for. Sean the bartender did a stellar job in making the best old fashion I have ever touched my lips on. Sit at the bar...the bartenders are a great time! read more

I have been here my fair share of times, and I have to say that the servers are some of the kindest people I have ever met. The bartenders and enthusiast and are very knowledgeable too. They are so kind and it feels like home, especially when the head chef comes out to greet you and explain the dish in further detail. This place is a must when visiting the Elmhurst area. read more

Came here for my sister's birthday and the food was phenomenal. The drinks were amazing but to top it off our waiter Denise was remarkable. One Fifty One is my kind of spot. I knew it from the moment I stepped foot inside. The atmosphere is shabby chic/farmhouse chic, casual but nice. You can make reservations online (which I recommend because they do get crowded), and we were seated right away. The crowd is younger, which is nice for a change in the burbs. The service was fantastic. Our waiter came by right away and explained the menu. They are a farm to table restaurant, so using local products, and providing wine and beer from smaller breweries and wineries is important to them. They use quality, organic ingredients. I'm always a fan of this - this is how all food and restaurants should be. Someone came by to refill our water consistently as well, which was nice. The cocktail menu is interesting and very different. They also have a decent wine and beer menu as well. I ended up getting the lavender cocktail. The first one didn't taste like it had any lavender in it, and the second tasted like I was drinking my bath water. So...I feel like there should be a happy medium somewhere. But it was different. I also feel like they are overpriced for the size ($11/cocktail). Maybe $9 would be fair. The menu has a variety of things to choose from - venison, chicken, a burger, a vegetarian pancake, etc. It's not a huge menu, but I tend to like places like that because it means they do a few things really well. All 3 of us ended up getting burgers with fries. The burgers were tasty, and very juicy (to the point where my bun was getting soggy, which I'm not a fan of). The house sauce that comes with it is good, and their homemade pickles were yummy too. I definitely want to come back. They are still new so they are tweaking some things. But it is a great addition to the area. read more

If you're looking for a hip, locally sourced restaurant with excellent food, 151 is the best choice! Clean, accommodating, open floor plan, 151 offers several options that change occasionally. The creative chef pair unique flavors for a dining experience that we've enjoyed several times. Our server, Mia, was very friendly and helpful and especially accommodating and knowledgeable concerning our many food allergies. Thank you to all at 151! Our favorite Elmhurst dining spot! read more

Sometimes I wonder how the guy who invented Dr. Pepper (Charles Alderton) ever determined that 23 flavors were the right number. That seems like a ridiculous amount of ingredients. Seriously, think about most of the meals you make ... they have like ... a half a dozen ingredients. Yet somehow 22 was not enough flavors and 24 was one too many. Go figure. The reason I'm bringing this up is that many of the dishes here have some complex pairings and I'm wondering how they came up with them. For example, I had the pork chop. Here are the ingredients, "grilled beelers farms chop, glazed michigan apples puree, kabocha squash, trumpet mushrooms, braised kale, sweet and salty caramel sauce." I get all the vegetables, but apples and caramel sauce!? Sounds like meat with a desert topping. Interesting concept, and two things that I really enjoy, but combined? Hum ... well ... perfect! Best pork chop I've ever had in Elmhurst, and perhaps, ever. I'm salivating now just thinking about it ... like Homer Simpson thinking of donuts. read more

I would've given this place a 4 star if the portion of the two dinners that we ordered were bigger. The ambiance is great. I love the rustic decor. Our waitress was very nice. We ordered the steak and lobster pasta and were disappointed when the waitress brought it out and the lobster pasta appeared to be a half portion since only half the bowl was filled. However, it tasted really good. The steak on the other hand was charred way too much so it tasted burnt. The potato slices threw me off completely. Extremely underwhelming for what I had expected. read more

My boyfriend and I came here on a Thursday night. Loved the decor and our waiter was excellent. We ordered fries as our appetizer and another waiter came and spilled ketchup all over my boyfriends sweater and jeans. They were quick and accommodating to getting him cleaned up and asked if they could maybe buy him a drink. He of course said yes. Our entrees came and they were delicious. Perfect portion size. We get our bill and they charged us for the drink they were supposed to get him for free.... this wasn't a little ketchup spill either. It looked like he threw up all over himself, it was everywhere. Would of gave 5 stars if they just stuck to their word on the drink. read more

Came in on opening night with my wife for a date, and the place was packed, chaotic, and really had a great vibe. Host stand was crowded (not really with people talking to the hosts, but with patrons in the bar and hosts themselves). So it was kind of confusing how to approach the stand. But we are so glad to have time together without kids, we decided nothing would deter us from having a blast. The hostess told us it would be around and hour to an hour and a half wait, so we left our number and walked down the street to a wine bar (less than 1 block away). Before we could be seated at the wine bar, they called us and told us our table was ready. Like, 7 minutes after we left. (we saw a lot of people taking their names off the list due to the wait time, but the tables weren't all filled, so we assumed this was opening night chaos and that they'll figure it out). Took around 25 minutes to get our cocktails after ordering them. Insanely long periods in between ordering and seeing the server again, but only the drinks were taking an unacceptably long amount of time to arrive. Table water was always filled promptly, food came out timely, so really no serious issue other than crazy slow drink delivery (beer and cocktails took forever, so beware). Server was fantastic, friendly, and probably the highlight of the night, minus the long bouts of "what's going on here and where is she". My cocktail was a riff on an old fashioned I think (had root beer extract or something going on in a bourbon based cocktail). Very good, and boozey. Major issue here is that all the cocktails are a flat $11, which is totally to be expected, but both of our drinks were around 2 or 2.5oz in volume. So combining the disappointing fluid to $ to 25min wait time, and we were pretty disappointed to start. But the drinks were really good. So I think my advice to the bar is that if you're serving a 2-3oz drink, present it MUCH better so that your middle-class patrons aren't disappointed before they taste your very good work. Food was very good. Homemade pasta was absolutely nuts and I would go back for that. Doesn't matter what it cost, can't even remember. So so so good. I can't emphasize this enough. The burger on the other hand. Well, let's start with that it's $15. That is wrong, and I want to tell the chef/ownership to consider what they're saying here by printing menus with that burger at $15. That burger better have truffles and a savings bond with it for $15. And if you want to know what it tastes like, literally, it is a gourmet version of a big mac. Like, the chef perfected the big mac with locally sourced ingredients, and somehow self-justifies that someone would want to pay $15 for ground meat, bread, mayo, and pickles. Well, I guess they're right, because I did. I'm the sucker who knew there was no such thing as a $15 burger that I wouldn't regret buying. Seriously questing the management over this, like, what are you thinking? If it costs you $15 worth of ingredients to make that, then you either have a chef problem or a supplier problem. But there is a problem here. That being said, the burger is good, again, think big mac, and think about going literally anywhere else for a burger. Unless you want 3 cups of thin cut fries (again, think mcdonalds) next to a $15 big mac. That is 375% the cost of a big mac. (Why can't I let this go? Because places like this live and die by their burgers, and I want 151 to live on forever because elmhurst needs it to). Wished we have room for dessert, but the brie appetizer (absolutely other-wordly good), the pumpkin seed salad, and our two entrees were so filling that there was no way to do it. Next time. 2 stars, but will give 3 because I assume opening night troubles were plaguing them. Love this place, will be back, and will hire a shrink for whomever priced the burger and one for myself since it seems like I still have PTSD over it. read more

The newly opened One Fifty One Kitchen in Elmhurst is a very welcome addition to the downtown area. Finally, there is a place that has the feel of dining in the city, but located in the heart of downtown Elmhurst. The food was excellent (make sure you try the Mousse and the steak) and the atmosphere lively and relaxing at the same time. If you are in the western suburbs or want to get out of the city on a quick jaunt, make sure you try this place for yourself! read more

Visited 151 for its opening Saturday dinner. Cubs game was on, crowd was energized, it felt hip. TVs did not take away from the overall earthy feel. Great decor and atmosphere. Unique for Elmhurst. Wait staff was educated about the farm to table concept and each of the menu items. A lot of enthusiasm, maybe sold it a little too much. Pre dinner cocktails were creative and complimentary to the menu. The (chicken liver) mousse was a nice start and the endive salad was fresh, crisp, tart, very good. The Trout was quite good as well, great flavor, crispy skin, beautiful presentation. The Pork dish was also done well, a substantial portion, well balanced with Fall flavors and cooked to the perfect temperature. Texture was also perfect, highly recommend. The limited food menu works well however the limited wine menu was a little frustrating, plus on this particular night they were out of two reds. Skipped dessert only because we were full. But desserts looked fabulous. We're definitely returning soon if only to hang out in the great bar area. Excited to have a restaurant of this quality in Elmhurst. Great launch! read more

This isn't about the food or service. My wife, son and I visited for lunch in December. The experience was just OK. What troubled me later was when reviewing our credit card statement, I noticed the charge was a few dollars more than my copy of the receipt. It bothered me so I called and asked for a manager. He said he would look into and email me the receipt I signed. A few days later he said it could not be located. Coincidence or innocent mistake maybe, but it really left an uneasy feeling. The manager offered to refund the few dollars, but I told them not to bother. read more

We had a terrible experience at 151 and am very disappointed in their lack of response. We made a reservation for a large party, and were a few minutes late, and were told our reservation had been given away (even though they told us they offered a 15 minute grace period and never called us to ask if we were coming; we were only 4 minutes late). We were then forced to wait over 30 minutes for a table while the manager was extremely rude to us. The table they then gave us didn't accommodate the two babies we had (who were included in our reservation). Then our waiter basically ignored us, only coming to the table two or three times during our meal, and our food (simple things like omelettes) took over 45 minutes to get to the table after ordering with no apology or excuse except that they had been busy earlier (by that time the restaurant was almost empty). I submitted feedback to them last Sunday and they said they would respond in 24-48 hours, and it's now been over a week with no response. This is extremely disappointing and I won't be returning. Even though their food is good, service is paramount to me when spending the kind of money they charge at their restaurant. It is absolutely not worth the cost! read more

Tried the smoked fish dip and spinach/duck salad as appetizers and they were both amazing! The "bread" accompanying the dip was incredibly thin and tasty on its own! The dip was smoky, creamy and delicious! Had the cavetelli for my main course and it was just a perfect combination of flavors I would never imagined in a pasta dish! My family tried the pork chop ("holy sh*t this is good"), a burger ("I would definitely come back for this") and the pancake ("okay but wish I got the trout"). Great beer and wine selection and I would highly recommend the lavender grapefruit cocktail! (Although maybe have it towards the end of the meal because it made me sleepy!) Oh!!! And dessert was a perfect end to our meal!!! We shared the chocolate mousse which was better than expected and perfectly chocolatey and savory!!! And the service was excellent! read more

I've been going to 151 since they have opened up, I just turned 21 in mid April, during the pandemic not being able to utilize the opportunities to go out to bars and clubs from them being closed. The time I want to go out this past Friday me and my friends who also turned 21 during the pandemic get denied of being served alcohol because our IDs aren't horizontal..I understand that in Illinois some places can't accept the vertical IDs but as a manager and restaurant owner, wouldn't you be a little more understanding when the DMVs have been closed for 3+ months and we aren't able to get our new IDs? Very inconsiderate and terrible management choices. Will never be returning to this establishment and will never be forgiven for the poor poor choices. read more

I had not been here in awhile. I heard they got a new chef. Went there last night and had a great meal and a great drink.

Good food, great vibe, cool decor, mediocre service. We had the burger, it was juicy and yummy. Interesting craft beer selection, I enjoyed the American pale ale. Cool decor but the acoustics in the restaurant is bad. The place was packed which is great, but it was so noisy, it's hard to carry on a conversation. The place has an upscale vibe but the actual experience felt more like eating at a diner where they just want to serve you food and get you out the door as soon as possible. The wait staff ruined the experience for us. - One bus boy attempted to take away our half eaten burgers! Note to staff, when your customers are deep in conversation do not rudely interrupt and assume they are done eating. I told the bus boy that we are still working on it. He then gives us a weird look before he goes away. We're the customers we get to decide when we are done eating. - At the end of our meal, another bus boy is suppose to clear the table. He asks me and my friends to basically hand him over every piece of item on the table while he stood there and just wait for us to basically clear the table for him! I have never in my life experienced that in -my life, it was actually comical. I think he forgot we are the paying customers. He can't reach over and grab the plates, napkins, fork, knives? It's a small table, it was not out of his reach. - Our waitress handed us the check before we asked for it and before we could even look at the dessert menu. We were interested in dessert, but just got fed up with the service and decided to just go to Starbucks across the street and spend our money there. I would love to come back for the food, there were many items on the menu I am really excited to try. But the wait staff.....please train these people properly! read more
