We went here for a friend's birthday and it was a great spot! The menu is extensive (almost too many options!!!) and there really is something for everyone. The space is clean, enticing, and as the name implies, modern. The service was very friendly, and the manager stopped by to check in twice. We ordered a few different starters and everyone got their own entrees. My favorite appetizer was the pork belly, and I really enjoyed my bucatini sausage pasta. Lemon drop martini was underwhelming and surprised it came without a sugar rim, but enjoyed the blood orange gin fizz. Food was good and nice portion sizes. Lots to choose from on the menu and I enjoyed the truffle fries. There is an extra 3% charge if you pay with a credit card. We were there during happy hour and the drinks weren't discounted on our bill. Waitress was very quick to fix it, but it took a while after to pay our check and head out. I met a group of friends for lunch here, and we were very pleasantly surprised at the entire experience. The ambiance is very nice, leaning toward upscale with a refined chic that's inviting and comfortable. The service was knowledgeable, attentive and pleasant. Their seasonal cocktail, the pecan old fashioned, was TOO good - a big hit at our table. My shrimp ceasar salad was fresh and delicious. It came with a pile of parmesan, but that was easily pushed to the side and nice to have in case I wanted more. This place had been on my list to try for some time. I made reservations for a Saturday night, and good thing I did as it gets pretty busy. Our sever was Jaime and he was excellent. He took the time to explain the menu and specials. They have a seasonal cocktail list with a ton of mocktails as well. Favorites among our group was the blackberry bourbon smash and Carmel appletini. Food was excellent! I had the chicken skewers and added shrimp to it and it was amazing. Very flavorful. My friend had the short rib risotto and I tried some and it was tasty. This is now my second time here while visiting my sister and once again, I left here super satiated and happy! Being a celiac, it's already hard to find fries that are in a dedicated fryer, but this place does not disappoint! Their sweet potato fries are probably the best I've ever had and they have a lot of GF options! We went to this new-to-us restaurant yesterday on the way home from the city. It has a bar area, large nicely decorated indoor dining room and outside dining along the sidewalk. We chose to sit outside since it was beautiful weather. Our server was Emily, who was so sweet, very attentive and provided great service. My husband and I didn't have any cocktails - next time. We decided to share a couple items off the menu. We shared the Fig n' Awesome Burger - fig jam, caramelized onion, arugula, havarti cheese - it was friggin' amazing!! The restaurant was kind enough to split the burger and put it on two plates. We chose sweet potato fries as our side and they were the best I've ever had. They were thicker crinkle cut and had a real nice crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. We also shared Nonna's Meatball. There was a slight glitch as they had a huge catering order and had to make new meatballs from scratch so we had to wait a bit to get this appetizer. It gave us time to digest the decadent burger we just ate. When the manager Jason apologized for the delay, I mentioned to him at that time that I had to order Nonna's Meatball because I just became a Nonna and we were just coming back from meeting our granddaughter at Northwestern. Jason comp'd us this appetizer as a congratulations. What?! So very nice! Great customer service for the delay and the congrats. We'll definitely be back to dine at Modern Plate again. Arrived at 11:15 for our 11:15 reservation. The four of us order our food at 11:30. 12:15 no food, we mention that our daughter has to leave at 12: 45, told no problem. 12:45 my daughter leaves with no food. The server, who was very nice and apologetic, comes by and says she talked to the manager and they will comp the food that we never got and we smile and thank her. 1;00, server says that she put the order in the system, whatever happened is not her fault. We smile and tell her we know they are busy. 1:10 ,I walk over to the manager who is sitting at the bar and ask him if we could get our food. He says he is aware of the issue with my daughters food and that he approved for her food to be comped. I tell him it has been an hour and 30 minutes and none of us got our food. I walk to the hostess stand to give them a 20 bucks tip for the server and tell her we are leaving and I will pay for my coffee and our mimosas. My wife is packing up the few things on our table and they approach her with a $50 gift card and the manager plans to surprise and delight her with our eggs benedict to go which we really did not want anymore and asks her to wait. He makes her wait, walks up empty handed and says the food is not ready. She walks out and we go to Ella. read more

There is plenty of street and garage parking out front or off the back entrance. I came for lunch during the week and while it was empty when we first got there, it quickly filled over time. The atmosphere was wonderful with tons of seats, cool bar, and modern patterns/textures. I came for a work lunch and all three of us enjoyed our experience! I got the Fig'n Awesome Burger... DELICIOUS! Perfect balance of sweet and savory as well as a great portion size. My coworkers got the slider trio (comes with three different slider types to sample) and a vegan burger. I got to try one of the sweet potato fries and they were perfectly crunchy. My only negative note was drinks weren't refilled unless asked for and some staff felt a bit flustered. The spouse and I visited during restaurant week. It's a fancy-looking place with prices to match, though there are TV's in the bar area. It's the sort of place that puts short ribs, bacon, or prosciutto into dishes to elevate them, so while there are vegetarian options, you'll have to pick your way through the menu. Gluten-free items and vegetarian items are supposedly marked, but the "V" is applied haphazardly and it doesn't look like they bothered to apply it to the sides, so ask questions. The staff is open to making substitutions - apparently the "Vodka pasta" on the prix fixe menu was "Vodka pasta with chicken" (rather an important omission). I got the special prix fixe menu: pesto bruschetta; vodka pasta (with broccoli substituted); the spouse got the vegan burger and an order of the roasted cauliflower. Portions were generous and the food was really good. The cauliflower in jalapeno jam sauce could have used more browning but tasted fine; the vodka sauce married beautifully with the broccoli, surprisingly enough, and the broccoli was perfectly cooked. The pesto bruschetta was on a high quality bread with some toothiness to it; the burger might have been commercial (we couldn't tell). Overall, high quality food with the frou-frou touches you might expect: the burger and bruschetta both featured balsamic vinegar; the burger came with arugula; there is no salt/pepper/ketchup on the tables; the "key lime pie" is deconstructed and comes in a sundae glass. Attentive service and plenty of time to linger over your food. Dinner for two (restaurant week special plus a drink, app and main) ran $86 with tip. read more

They were both good but way too many sauces on the wonton it became a soppy mess of too many flavors to decide which one was appealing. Unfortunately the salad suffered the same soggy fate.
