Stopped in during a friends' reunion weekend for a drink. We enjoyed the ambiance and drinks so much that we decided to stay for dinner. Staff was excellent! The giardiniera appetizer had the perfect mix of spice and flavor. The server recommended the shrimp and grits. It was fantastic! I will make sure to stop back next time I'm in town. read more

Weekend brunch is great here!!! It was a special Mother's Day menu (they even had Mom-Mosas...pwahaha, that's cute). Anyways, this was the first time I brought my family and it was a nice and pleasant experience. First off, let me just say this is such a beautiful restaurant. It's decor and rustic style is so modern and city country...is that even a way to describe it? If you watch the Food Network, think Nancy Fuller on Farmhouse Rules. Beautiful, wooden tables and booths with vintage couches. It's simply a breathtaking place. The smallest details on the table: the beautiful water glasses and the picnic like napkins and the way they serve the water in an old school glass milk container...it's so quaint and fun!! I mean even the bathrooms are gorgeous (and clean may I add!!!). Every detail is eye catching and you can definitely tell they want you to feel at home here. Food was delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. I enjoyed this dish. It was a more updated version of your normal biscuit and sausage gravy. The biscuits were a little bit too chewy and then some parts of it were flaky. Just a bit inconsistent but hey the flavors were there. It was good. We also tried a side of DUCK BACON. To be honest, that's the first time I've ever heard of duck bacon and it was DELICIOUS! I'm completely sold on it. What else can I say? The service was excellent and exceptional. I loved our server. She was attentive and cheerful. I was definitely happy with the service. I can't really say anything more positive except that this is a great addition to downtown Elmhurst. I can't wait to visit again and try out the other dishes this place has to offer! read more

Very cute establishment, and I love the Farm to Fork experience. I am very much into organic and fresh eating and loved the thought of having another option in the area. After seeing the restaurant for several weeks, we finally decided to try it for our wedding anniversary on Thursday evening - being a very pleasant evening. Can sit outside and enjoy it. The staff is very curious. Very quick and attentive. Ordered a Merlot which was fantastic. The food is average. I ordered the Roasted Chicken - which sounded wonderful. I love good chicken! But not when you pay $27 for one Chicken leg quarter that is not cooked properly. It was done - almost too much. The taste was average. I could make better at home - and do - quite often. Eating out for me is a treat and I love it, but it's been the norm now to be disappointed which is quite unfortunate. My potatoes where nice and crisp on the outside - almost breaded - which was a nice touch, but they were hard in the center. Which means they were not done. The roasted carrots had no seasoning and were cooked too much to taste how wonderful they were - I LOVE rainbow carrots. These were average. A few of these - and a sprinkle of peas and we were done. My husband ordered the Chicken Salad - which for $16 was average in size. Anyone can make a salad - the difference between a good salad and a GREAT salad is the ingredients. His chicken was tough - the blue cheese was not over-powering, which was great. But you couldn't taste it. And it wasn't bacony - not that we were looking for overkill on the bacon. If we wanted bad food, we would've eaten elsewhere - but even for being farm fresh greens I pull better out of my garden. Panera has better salads. This is really sad because I feel they cater to people who can always afford the experience. I always see lovely ladies here having wine - or families hanging out enjoying their meal. We can afford it, we are just are selective - and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when you do decide to pay for a good overall experience and it just doesn't make it. A cute place means nothing if the food is not worth the money you're paying. Would meet up with my daughter here for some wine - we love Flight 112 down the street, but I don't recommend their food. Overpriced and there's better in the area. If you are looking for the experience - Redstone has great salads - chicken and even outdoor music and seating in front of their pond area. Sorry guys - really wanted to be - but was not impressed. read more

Look no further than 151 for great service, one-of-a-kind drinks, and a delicious farm to table menu! It has an upscale lounge vibe that makes you want to relax and have a drink (or two) before diving into one of their unique dishes. **Highly recommend the crab cakes and pork belly for starters - you can't go wrong with any entrees either** We had Monica as our server and she was very attentive and informative on each menu question we had and she never made us feel rushed. When we didn't know what drinks to order, she asked us to describe what we were looking for and she made several recommendations. The drinks she brought were exactly what we were looking for and came out consistently each time we ordered more. Our food came out nice and hot and we took her suggestions for after dinner drinks and desserts and we were very satisfied with our whole dining experience. With this new menu and great service, 151 has quickly become a favorite of ours. I have eaten at many downtown Chicago restaurants and this one delivers on taste, quality, and service each time. We will definitely be coming back with more people to enjoy the new menu and outstanding service! read more

First time there on Friday night. Nice atmosphere. Started off with the pork belly which was crispy, full of flavor and just the right amount of fat. However, we all waited a very long time for our main course. Three out of the four of us had ordered the Tomahawk & frites from the Restaurant week menu, which you would think they'd have it on rotation. By the time our food came out, ALL THREE OF OURS WERE COLD. I'm talking french fries hard and dry and meat dry and gray. I'm not one to send food back, but all three of us couldn't eat the meat it was so cold. Waiter took food back and said "they had thrown it back on the grill". Flat out lie. Everything was even colder. The least they could do was microwave the whole thing. It's a shame because the food seemed like it would've been really good but this is just horrible. read more

Always good. Positioned under the sparkle of the lights from the classic small town cinema across the street, this cozy venue in the heart of downtown Elmhurst beckons you in with the allure and promise of a good meal. That promise has never been broken on the several occasions I've dined here, breakfast, lunch and dinner (...all on different days, I mean, you have to believe me). Service is adept, quick, polite, brisk anticipation of every need, delivered with genuine warmth and care. Every menu item sampled has been exceptional so far, with personal favorites being the crabby eggs benedict, crispy chicken sandwich, any salad, the almighty chicken and waffles, and whatever the heck those potatoes are made from! I know potatoes. These are not your normal potatoes. These ones have been injected with some otherworldly flavors or spells or something because they are crispy bundles of mouth elation. All of the food is very good, same with drinks, same with service. Faultless. read more

My first 2 star review! A restaurant with a rating almost as bad as the public transit review haha.... sorry! Let me start out with a positive. The "Bolognese" dish they have was really good. Other than that, I don't know how this place has 4 stars. I've seen a lot come and go, based on our experience tonight this place won't be around very long. The menu is small and of the 4 different things we got, the Bolognese dish was the only shining star. The smoked pork shoulder was dry, the portion was small and the piece of focaccia it was on was literally hard as a rock. The mac and cheese was.... mac and cheese (for $10). The baked brie appetizer was OK but also expensive for what you get (imagine a single 10 inch mozzarella stick haha). Our service was easily the worst part of the experience. It was by no means busy and our waiter was just MIA the entire meal. Order drinks, takes 10 min.... Appetizer comes out, no one at the table has plates.... "Would you like another drink?" "please" 15 min later, no drink (computer forgot to send it through.) Ahh the good old service industry days.... Place has cool farmhouse décor and I wanted it to be our new weekly spot, but I just don't see what all the hype was about. The food wasn't great, the prices are high for what you get and the service was less than stellar. There are just too many options around the area to charge $25 - $35 a plate and be decent at best. Hopefully they sell some of the chairs when they close the doors for good, I would totally scoop up a few for the office haha. Hope your visit is better than ours! On to the next one! read more

Ever since my burger here in early April, I feel like I've been on a mission to find a burger as good as theirs! Pimento cheeseburger - awesome! The cheese has a mild bite to it, and the burger was just how I like it: well seasoned, and cooked so it has some char on it! If you're worried about all the anti-char propaganda, find a vegan place and eat some quinoa. I want flame and char on my burger. That said, even at a medium-well, it was still moist and flavorful, seated on a fresh pretzel bun. I wanted to spend my calories on chocolate mousse, so I opted for the carrot salad. It was spiked with a bit of cumin, and the carrots were a mix of classic orange along with some purple & yellow numbers. I still craved the fries ... and others at the table took pity and gave me a few, grudgingly. They were hot and salty and fine. Chocolate mousse disappointed a bit ... good, but not as deep or rich as I like. I also wasn't a fan of the presentation, mainly because the chef's choice to pipe the mousse into shell shapes deprived me of a deep dish that I could dive into. All in all, a really fine meal, featuring fresh ingredients. We were there early on a Monday evening with a group of six. The place was quiet enough for conversation, but our friends who'd been before said that on Friday evenings later, the noise level hits it pretty high, so bring your shouting voice & ear trumpet. Fine selection of beers. A terrific addition to DT Elmhurst. read more

Ordered curbside pick up from 151 last night since we are "sheltering in place". The food was fantastic, perfectly prepared!!! Sat at the bar for lunch and drinks on a Friday afternoon. Not busy at all which is a shame but to my benefit:) Good service and and excellent spinach salad. Perfectly done soft egg on the salad was awesome. Really nice selection of beers including some 3 Floyds on tap. Good selection of small batch liquors too. I'm ready to come back for dinner! If I had a complaint it would be the wine list. I didn't have any but looks a little overpriced for the names I see. read more

My friends and I had brunch here without planning. It was simple but really good. We all had the farmers breakfast. The potatoes were delicious and the bacon really good. I had a Bloody Mary, a little stronger would've been nice but it had good flavor. Service was a bit slow but very nice. Overall, a nice experience. I've always said that the one thing missing in Elmhurst is a restaurant where the servers wear plaid flannel shirts and jeans. But finally, we got a place to fulfill this need. The yuppie hipster movement has officially made its way to the western suburbs with the arrival of One Fifty One Kitchen, and thank goodness for that. At the way the place was packed last night, it is obviously something the town has been long lacking. In honesty, I mean it. This is the type of restaurant Elmhurst has been needing and I hope it's very successful. An upscale, non-chain restaurant that offers a true date-night destination in a less stuffy atmosphere than the town is used to. The clientele was mostly of the younger 20s-30s set; those eager for something closer to home that allows them to have an enjoyable dinner out without having to travel to Bucktown or the city proper. The decor is nice too. Kind of a fusion of reclaimed woods meets industrial contemporary. They clearly dropped a nice amount of money on the place so I hope the business succeeds - and judging by my experience, it's thriving. People were packed shoulder-to-shoulder, but not in an uncomfortable way. My wife and I had a very enjoyable meal. One Fifty One Kitchen does the farm-to-table thing, so if you're familiar with that, you'll understand what you're getting. We started with the tartar appetizer, my wife had the veggie pancake which is something you really have to see to understand, and I did the short rib. I also had a cocktail, and she did one of the handmade sodas. Everything was tasty. We enjoyed it all. The food is very good, but simple. Nothing seems over the top. But maybe that's the problem? Nothing felt like it was something we needed to come back to. Nothing was special or stand out. You look over the menu and think, "Okay, there's lots of things that sound good." But nothing is there to bring me back and say I need to come here regularly. I'm sure the menu will change and evolve and perhaps they'll develop a few signature dishes. As far as the portions, they were a little on the small side, especially for the price. The farm-to-table concept is never offered at bargain prices, but generally you get a bit more for what you pay for. Truth be told, I found myself a bit hungry later that night and grabbed a cold slice of pizza from the fridge before bed. The other problem I had was in the service. Our server was nice enough, but felt like she was still getting her feet wet and inexperienced. She was sort of clumsy, which I noticed from some of the other staff as well, who continuously bumped into me through the evening. Our server didn't refill our water when it was empty, she didn't check on us at all after our meal was delivered, and didn't seem to realize that I probably needed a sharper knife than the standard one she brought me with my entree. Maybe it's inexperience due to it being a new place and she'll get her timing down more and things will tighten up. Also? It's loud. Like night club loud. My wife and I couldn't really hear one another, and just about every table around us had to yell at one another to be heard. I think this is due to the relatively small space and lots of hard surfaces - hardwood on the walls, floors, tables, etc. A little fabric here and there or some sound absorbing panels on the ceiling may help with that if this is something the owners are concerned with. Overall, I liked it. The food was definitely good, but as I said, the portion sizes were a little on the smaller side. My plate was packed with a huge pile of french fries - er - excuse me, "shoestrings" which were obviously there to fill space. Would I come back? Yes, if someone else chooses it I would definitely return. But it's not a place I need to go back to again. This was a destination experience, and one and done is good enough for me. I think my wife was less impressed than I was, because when I asked her what she thought she described it as "pretentious," and judging by other reviews here, she's not the only one who feels that way. read more

Awesome atmosphere in a very cool space. On the flip side the menu was very limited. What we had was pretty good but there was nothing else I wanted so how do I go back for a second time? On an interesting note, who doesn't have blue cheese stuffed olives for a martini.? I felt that was pretty pretentious. Overall good and I hope they improve the menu. read more

I'm giving it five stars because overall, it deserves it. When I walked in on Friday evening I felt like I was back in the city entering into a bustling and exciting new hot spot. The ambience was great, and guests who looked to be enjoying their food, be it at the table or the bar. The food was really good and I was quite pleased. The only feedback i would give is the service and pace of it. At the bar, the Bartender took his time and again, could be a learning curve or just learning the ropes so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. It was busy so I'd encourage a bigger sense of urgency and engagement with patrons. At the table our server was very nice. Being new to the restaurant it would have helped for him and us if he sold parts of the menu to us versus just mentioning an item or two. Overall though, his style was that of server at a trendy new restaurant. Excited to see this place continue to do well and hopefully they work out some of the minor kinks. read more

I've always told people they have to go try the food here because it is truly so amazing. The last time I went with my family, we all loved it but especially the Pork Chop. I would not substitute or change anything the chef does, since they have truly perfected most of their dishes. The limited menu is also not a huge deal since from the time before I was at 151 there were quite a few new dishes to try. I'll be back, and will always speak of how great the food is. read more

The staff was very friendly right off the hop. The food was outstanding, grilled octopus, pimento Mac and cheese, beet salad and fried chicken. The craft cocktails however made the entire night and experience! Mike the bartender was amazing, super personable while being extremely busy. Great conversation and rad cocktails with attention to detail and great flavor. During a time where customer service has seemingly gone by the wayside, Mike was great, a true testament to customer service and craft cocktails. A real old school bartender! Great atmosphere. Shrimp power bowl was so fresh. Had the blackberry peach dessert and it was to die for.

Food and cocktails good. Not one server was wearing a mask which was very troubling during this pandemic.

We've never tried harder to be fans of a restaurant... but it's just too inconsistent of an experience. Great hits (Brie, Mushroom pancake, select entrees) but too many misses over time. After 20+ visits in spite of the convenient location, hip decor and sometimes delicious foo, it's too inconsistent. The food can be great or completely off balance/out of proportion. The service can rival a Michelin Star restaurant or you can sit between courses or with your card on the table for 20 minutes. There have been a few reincarnations. It's time for a hard reset in that space IMO. read more

Underwhelmed to say the most.... the decor is great and highly impressive. It is very industrial and kudos to the decorator... I firmly believe all the reviews which are 5 stars are probably folks who know the owners. Our first clue that food wasn't going to be great, should have been that we didn't smell any food when we arrived... that would have been clue #1 Clue #2: the place was fairly empty for a Monday lunch hour in downtown Elmhurst. As for the food... it wasn't bad and it also was not good. It was simply there. No flavor to anything which we ordered, unless you count the broccoli / carrot salad which tasted like soap. I would have taken pics, but that would have been misleading as the food LOOKED like it would be delicious. To our chagrin, no flavor. The bacon and Diet Coke were delicious.... but for the prices paid; we left lunch fairly depressed that we opted out of the office for this experience. The service was decent.... which is why I'm giving 3 stars. read more

Went to One Fifty One the other night and had a really great experience. We're pretty easygoing and not too critical when it comes to going out to dinner, so keep that in mind. The place is really nice and has a little bit of a modern feel, but is comfortable. The bathrooms are also very clean. That's always kind of a big deal for me. My wife and I started with the baked brie, which was really good. She then had the pork chop and I had the burger. Both were cooked to the right temp and seasoned well. Fresh bun for the burger and the fries were great. Our servers/bussers were all really friendly and were more than happy to talk about the menu. I have to say I really enjoyed this place and will definitely be back. read more

Have been here twice since they opened. The atmosphere is great; definitely the best part of the experience and the owners did a great job with the space. However, the menu is somewhat limited (read: small) and they don't seem to have any additional dinner specials. I have had the chantrelle pancakes which were heavy and tasteless and the grilled cheese sandwich which was okay. There is a nice cocktail list but the wine pour is quite stingy with a $12 glass of chardonnay that is about 1/ 4 full. The service the first time was even but tonight we felt rushed in and out by the server (although it was early and the restaurant was not busy yet). We stopped in for an early dinner to get to a 7pm movie but had so much time to kill we just went home! The waitstaff is definitely interested in turning over tables; the server came by 3 times in 5 minutes trying to convince us to order when we really just wanted to relax and enjoy our glasses of wine. Also, lots of little kids so if you are thinking of this spot for a date night this probably isn't the choice. For two people; one glass of wine with a salad and entree each our check was $100 without the tip. I would go back when they change the seasonal menu to check it out again As hopefully the service experience has improved but until then my recommendation is that for the price a better meal and overall dining experience can be had elsewhere in Elmhurst. read more

Stopped in for lunch with a friend while in Elmhurst. We were drawn in by the cool, loft-type atmosphere, minimalist artsy and earthy. We each ordered a salad, and they were so inventive, with outstanding flavor that I would call them the two best salads that I have ever eaten. Both contained various greens and unusual grains with superb dressings. One was the radicchio salad and the other was an arugula salad with roasted cauliflower, nuts, grains and dried fruit. Didn't have cocktails but the ones we saw looked fantastic. I will come back to Elmhurst just to visit this place again!! read more

One of my favorite spots in Elmhurst!! The food is awesome and the menu is really unique, and the servers are always super friendly. One of my favorite starters is definitely the baked brie, but the new menu has a choose your own meat and cheese pairing board, with six different charcuterie and four different cheeses. Definitely get all of them for the best experience!! You can't leave without dessert either, and I've tried both the dark chocolate cake and the strawberry rhubarb crumble. This is a nice, quaint but hipster style place in the heart of York St. First, I ordered the Cosmonaut and I was deliciously prepared cocktail and the pour was generous and not for profit so the cocktail menu is very mixology like and worth the price. Then we ordered the meatballs appetizer for the table and it comes with like 6 in a very savory tomato sauce which made the meatballs a delight. I could have had a cup of just the tomato bisque they put on the meatballs. For dinner, I ordered the grilled Half-chicken and it was just ok, they added some pepper seasoning mix for flavor but it wasn't anything special. The grits were good and creamy and my colleague ordered the shrimp and grits and it looked really good albeit the shrimp was a little light on quantity. I ordered the Apple cobbler for a finale and it's more cinnamon apples with breaded crumbles with a scoop of ice cream on top. Wasn't amazing but wasn't bad, definitely expected more breading than it was. All in all, the food is fresh and light and won't make you feel bloated and they have some great options to choose from read more
