How freakin lucky are we to have a gem like this in Villa Park! My only hope is that we don't blow it. Like any new restaurant they are refining menu items and working out kinks. Food and drinks are on the pricier side (they have a solid kids hot dog and fries option for $5 for kids though) but what is the going rate for Squid Ink?! Staff is also ridiculously friendly and excited about their product. While they have awesome specialty cocktails that you will not find anywhere else (pozole spices in a cocktail?!) they are also great making any classic cocktail you can come up with. My one feedback for now would be to up the dish-ware if going with higher price items vs going with paper products. This might just be they are testing things out. Came in on a Sunday around dinner time--wasn't too busy and we got seated right away. Service was good overall. We ordered drinks, apps, and entrees. For appetizers, we tried the lemon artichoke and white bean dip with naan--everything tasted really fresh, and the naan was especially good. We also got the meatballs, which were delicious with just a hint of pomegranate glaze. For my entrée, I had the bao buns--crispy chicken, great sauce, fresh ingredients, and a little kick to it. I got the honey roasted carrots on the side, which were nicely seasoned without being overpowering... but $9 for carrots felt a bit much. We also tried the sea bass, which was really good. The couscous was well made, and the fish wasn't overly "fishy," which I liked. For drinks, I had the North York Fizz--it was basically a fizzy strawberry lemonade, super refreshing. We ordered the grilled chicken spread to take home, and that was also fresh and delicious. The focaccia bread was a standout. Only downside--we never got one of our sides and didn't realize until we got home, which was disappointing. Service was good, but once we got our food, it took a while to see our server again--about a 10-minute wait, even though there were only a few other tables. Overall, I'd definitely come back and would recommend it. Really good food with just a few small hiccups. read more

I invited my youngest son's best buddy and parents to meet us for brunch with Santa as a way of thanking them for helping out with him when my schedule gets hectic. Everything was perfect. George, our server, was kind and attentive - every single part of our order was perfect. The hanger steak and eggs we awesome! Steak cooked perfectly and so tender! Both the owner and general manager come by the table to ask about our experience and see if we needed anything additional. Not once did a single member of our party have to ask for more water or coffee...they had someone constantly check the levels and anticipate refills before necessary. My sons friend is a picky eater and was not interested in any of the kid's brunch options so we we were told what the lunch and dinner options were for kids and there was no issue what so ever with him getting a kids mac and cheese. The boys both loved Santa, enjoyed their food and had an excellent time. Thank you so much to the staff and management at 151 for accommodating our group and giving the kids a great time! read more

An Unforgettable Evening at 151 Kitchen Bar We had the pleasure of attending an Agave Pairing dinner at our favorite local spot, 151 Kitchen Bar, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting -- perfect for sharing a memorable evening with dear friends. Each course was thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented, with flavors that perfectly complemented the agave-inspired cocktails. The pairings were creative, balanced, and absolutely delicious. The cocktails themselves were a highlight -- bold, refined, and expertly mixed. What truly elevated the experience was the impeccable service. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about making the evening special. Really enjoyed discovering this spot. The outdoor seating is charming and has a relaxed, small-town atmosphere, especially with the York Theatre right across the way. It was a great setting for a meal. My wife went with the salmon and quinoa, while I tried the hanger steak with potatoes. The salmon was cooked really well, and she enjoyed the asparagus that came with it, although I thought it could have used a little more seasoning. My steak was flavorful and nicely prepared, though the portion looked a bit larger than it actually was. Still, it was a very satisfying dish. One thing that definitely deserves a shout-out is the artichoke soup and fresh bread--they were fantastic and absolutely worth trying. Overall, we had a great meal and really enjoyed the atmosphere..The outdoor dining setup was especially pleasant, and it was clear they put thought into making guests feel comfortable. Walking through downtown Elmhurst, we stumbled on 151 before a movie a the theater across the street. Looking like a nice enough place, we looked at the menu on the board outside of the restaurant to see what was on the menu. Everything looked pretty good and somewhat reasonably priced, then I noticed the names of management on the board as well. I always thought this was a strange thing to do. I was curious as to what other restaurants the General Manager Jon Benline had been a part of so I quickly googled his name. Well the first thing I saw was a mugshot of him and a brief article about how he tried to abduct an 11 year old boy 2 years ago. Well, needless to say, I will never step foot in this place and won't be visiting either Pints or Barrel House Social in La Grange, which the owners own as well. If you have young children, I'd give serious thought about entering here as well. read more

Went in last night for an early Father's Day dinner with another couple. We sat at a cocktail table. The place was crazy busy but the bartenders were on point. There were 2 of them and although the bar itself wasnt busy, they were making drinks for the waitstaff in high volume. Both bartenders took care of us in a tag team style. The guy suggested some awesome options and the lady suggested we go for a bottle of wine seeing as that most of us were drinking a similar red. This was our first time visiting and decidedly not our last. As busy as they both clearly were, we never felt overlooked or neglected. Arguably one of the best service experiences we've ever had. It was cool to see the chemistry between the 2 of them as well. You could plainly see they worked well together and enjoyed their job. Way to go guys! Wish I remembered their names. We ordered the baked goat cheese and Marinara appetizer and it was so good. The crispy sourdough bread it came with was great. I had the chicken Tribella and the herb au jus was DELICIOUS! Also all the veggies were cooked perfectly. Only slightly disappointed in the polenta (seemed a bit too crunchy on the outer layer) but I added a little bit of the goat cheese to it and it added a great flavor and texture to it. My boyfriend ordered the Tap Burger and it was very good. The combo of Angus chuck and short rib in the patties was really tasty. One burger had to be sent back because they forgot the cheese and it came back out still well before the rest of the tables order. My father asked for a drink refill multiple times only to end up getting up and going to the bar to get it himself. But the whole experience was not bad. The burgers were great and juicy. Not sure why they call it a smashburger. There is nothing smashed about it. But the flavor is on point! Largest beer selection I have seen at a restaurant. Large seating area and they do a great job of not cramming in too many tables. They have some couches and a nice outdoor area. We will be back, the food was that good. I will update my rating after I give their service another try.
