The exclusivity of this location means it doesn't have clear signage and access is usually gated to be only allow invited guests onto the property. We went for an event planner reception...and were surprised to hear even our organizers have never had access to this venue before and were excited to be there. Many celebrities will reserve this property due to it's strict accessibility. So if you ever get a chance to check it out, do not hesitate!

Paula LeDuc catering runs the food, and they're top-notch, which is a bonus. Just a heads up, the venue has a lot of rules, like quiet music and an early curfew, so it's not your wild party spot. A few high tops as you enter to the left and a nice long bar with and table against the right wall. This building takes you back to 1890 or so when it was originally a bank. I wonder how many times it was robbed at gun point and the bad boys rode off on horses with the cash??? Many of the light fixtures are original from the same time. It has a bank vault as every good bank should. But since this is a bar the vault is more a private area with seating. Since we just had a late breakfast we only had drinks. Not sure but I'm pretty sure Andrea had a Lemon Drop and I know for sure I had tequila and lime. While we were there a few high tops filled up with Chardonnay drinking ladies getting away from the family (kids and partners) for the day. And a couple of different couples being tourist. I know, I know technically we are tourist but we've spent so much time here over the years we don't feel like tourist and back in the day not long ago many people thought we lived there. There is a posting on the wall of the winery that explains the history of Charles Krug, the oldest winery in the valley. We settled on a Cab which we very much enjoyed. The bartender was kind enough to give us a sample of two different wines before we committed. I also liked that they offer a complimentary tasting of champagne as you enter. The inside of the winery is pretty, but the outside is really gorgeous. We enjoyed the wonderful weather and sat in a shaded gazebo area. There are plenty of nice shaded areas and we saw other parties seated outside enjoying the weather. We sipped on the wine and munched on the tasty cheeses, crackers, and other yummies on the charcuterie platter and had a lovely evening here. First of all, Tom and Desiree are two of the nicest people you will ever meet in the wine country. They invite you into their home, share food and wine and tell wonderful stories. We plan for 90 minutes and always end up staying longer - sorry Tom and Desiree but time goes by quick when you are enjoying yourselves. The winery makes a Howell Mt Cab and a Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc. The Cab is huge and you can taste Howell Mt in every sip. The Sauvignon Blanc has all the qualities of a superior white but at an affordable price point. Truth be known, both wines are priced less than their peers. Tom states he charges less because he wants to treat people like he would want to be treated. Red Cap Vineyards is by far one of the best finds in all of Napa. We have visited most of the wineries in Napa and this one is hard to top. When it comes down to it, it is the people behind the wine that makes the visit special. These two have vested their lives into Red Cap Vineyards. Your visit will be special and you will walk away feeling like you are part of the Red Cap family.
