We were warmly greeted by Ani--with a glass of rosé already in hand (such a perfect welcome!)--and then beautifully hosted by the fabulous Cynthia, who made our visit so special from start to finish. My daughter Chandra, her friend Chrissie, and I were celebrating an all-girls early birthday weekend (for both Chandra and me), and we couldn't have picked a better final stop. Clos du Val absolutely did not disappoint! Every wine was outstanding--from the crisp, refreshing Estate Sauvignon Blanc (the perfect summer pool wine!) to the delicious Malbec and elegant Yettalil. And of course, I couldn't resist taking home a magnum of the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon--simply exceptional. Not surprisingly, we left with a full case of wine and the happiest memories. My friend and I came to celebrate her birthday with a 10am tasting on a Friday at Clos du Val and had a truly extraordinary experience with our host Aaron. The tasting room is spacious, gorgeous and comfortable, and it's clear from beginning the thoughtfulness and intention placed into everything from the delicious dip made from ingredients sourced entirely from ingredients on the grounds (the honey, walnuts, olive oil, etc.), to the table setting highlighting some of the plants used as part of the regenerative organic farming approach Clos du Val takes. Our host Aaron was very knowledgeable and took his time teaching us the history of Clos du Val, discussing the terroir, geography, the meaning of Hirondelle, and so much more, and he truly made our visit outstanding. We learned so much about the wines, and it was clear that Aaron prioritized helping us discover what we enjoy in wines, not just here at Clos du Val, but in general so that we could apply these concepts to wines elsewhere. A visually gorgeous winery with a smaller foot print, we came in for a morning tasting with Sarah. She was such a sweetheart and gave us such a history on the winery and the wines themselves. We did the classic tasting, starting with a white and going into 3 (or 4) more reds. While the white was ok, the reds really did stand out, especially the Pinot Noir and the last one on the tasting ($200 a bottle). The reds really are the star there and we got a generous pour of each. The dip that came with our tasting was a nice labneh like dip with fresh bread and persimmon. Property is smaller but gorgeous outside and in (sleek but not too cold and bland) and the restrooms were nice as well. Would love to come back in the warmer months to enjoy the patio. We walked in with no reservations hoping to enjoy a couple wine by the glass vs doing a tasting. Luckily it wasn't too busy so we got a high top by the window. Normally this is done outside, but it was raining, the patio area looks great and would definitely come back again to enjoy it. They have 6 options for wine by the glass ranging from $15-45 each. I like this winery because of its size and ambiance. The property is well.kept and scenic. Their reservation system allows comfort during your visit with room for members and walk ins. The patio which is heated overlooks the Lil grapes growing in peace. The staff is attentive and aims to make ones visit enjoyable. Their understanding of the family business seems to he very good. The details in having your personalized visit ready is another fine touch. The wines also are some.of the better in the valley. This is a great place to enjoy a few hours in a nice relaxing environment away from some of the more hectic spots in the valley. Five stars. read more

Really beautiful estate. It feels like you're in an elegant living room space with an open backyard garden and view. I love the attention to detail and the fact that the guest name is printed on the tasting guide. The sourdough and pesto dip was a great addition to the tasting and just made our experience more enjoyable. Service was awesome. Visited Clos du Val on a sunny Saturday afternoon during a weekend Napa getaway with my best friend. We didn't have a reservation, but the staff was accommodating and seated us right away around 2 p.m. We were given a lovely outdoor table shaded by an umbrella, with a peaceful view of the vineyards. She (Sarah) took her time to explain each bottle to us and made offered more to any wines we really enjoyed. Their cabernet franc was my favorite, it was my first red wine that ever tasted like that. Had an amazing, life changing personal tasting with my friend Jen. Our tour guide and host was Aaron; he was incredible!!!!

I cannot begin to tell you how much we enjoyed our tasting at Clos du Val. We were attending a wedding and only had a bit of free time. The groom, who's a member, made last-minute arrangements for us to have the Hirondelle House tasting as soon as they opened at 10 a.m. Favian was in a meeting, so Aaron hosted us. He was wonderful! He barely finished telling us about the history of CDV before we started peppering him with questions. We learned so much more than just the terrior; everything from cork to the Brix scale to... well, I can't even remember it all less than a week later. This is, however, a winery, and the five we tasted were wonderful. I loved the cabernet franc, and their '21 Yettalil which had just been named Best in Show at the 2024 Decanter World Wine Awards the previous day. Suffice to say we all became Cercle du Vin members. And, yes, we were able to visit with Favian. He's as gracious and fun as others have said. Despite getting their start in the early 70s and even participating in the 1976 Judgement of Paris, the venue is modern, yet very comfortable. I look forward to my next visit. read more

Clos du Val was truly such a highlight on our recent girls trip to Napa! The short version,: A+++, the service, estate, wine and overall experience was absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. The detailed version: From the moment we arrived, we had our own private table with a customized menu welcoming our party, and a line up, including tasting notes of the wines we would be trying. It's honestly all about the little details and they nailed it. I am so mad at myself, but I cannot recall our wine guru's name (I WILL remember and update accordingly), but he was the absolute best. He was a local gentlemen, who knew his stuff well and really made our overall experience so special. He paced our tasting perfectly, made the tasting relatable and even offered to be our photographer! The estate was gorgeous, the mixed and natural textures really complimented all the greenery and honestly it was such a vibe. They had this super cool photo op wall with a couch and it was just a beautiful place to enjoy some wine. Leading me to....the wine! I truly enjoyed all the wine I had. I am not a frequent wine drinker, I enjoy it, though I made not know all the details I can appreciate it. What I really enjoyed was learning more about their wines and having a lovely and diverse line up of various types. They bring out some lovely snacks to nosh on well tasting. My wife and I had an opportunity to do a tasting at Clos du Val on a quiet November Wednesday afternoon. Since it was raining lightly, the tasting was indoors. The ambience of the winery is very nice, you're amongst the vineyards in this modern building. Our tasting consisted of 5 wines, one Sauvignon Blanc and four reds. The wines were all good, but we agreed that the Cabernet Franc was our favorite. We also had a delicious cheese platter with the tasting. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our last winery stop on our week-long stay in Napa was one of our favorites. Our experience at Clos Du Val was memorable not only for the excellent reds we enjoyed overlooking the grounds but because our guide, Melissa, made our time there special. Located on the south end of the Silverado Trail in Napa Valley, Clos Du Val was a winery on our list to visit due to its history connected to the Judgement of Paris in 1976 and their great wines (naturally). The tasting room has a modern design with a dark wooden interior and open-floor layout. The wide-glass paneled sliding doors open to the outdoor patio area that holds a fountain directly in front with the vineyards in the backdrop. There are further outdoor seating areas to the left and white with paths to walk past the rows of vines growing grapes. There's a cool sofa perched against one of the vine-covered buildings with a large double door that's great for taking pictures and selfies. Our flight tasting comprised the 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Hirondelle Vineyard Estate | Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2019 Yettalil | Stag's Leap District Bordeaux Blend. Everything poured for the flights was exquisite, especially the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, my favorite. Additionally, we enjoyed a nice dip on which nosh while we sipped our wines. Melissa was our wine host and ensured we had a wonderful experience during our stay at Clos Du Val. She was personable and accommodating in her service and had great knowledge of the wines and history of the winery. She even brought out a bottle of the 2015 Hirondelle Vineyard Estate | Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon to compare the 2018 vintage originally on the flight list. Her engagement with us was part of why I decided to join the Cercel du Vin, even though I had already joined two other wineries that week. The wines that we enjoyed on-site I knew I wasn't going to find locally in South Florida, and the experience I had sealed my wanting to continue enjoying Clos Du Val in the future. read more

Favorite winery experience in Napa on my trip!! First of all, Favian is amazing and I would ask for him next time if we come back, hands down. He was knowledgable, friendly, engaging, charismatic, and he listened to us and modified the tasting based on what he heard. He is incredible and my whole group is Favian fans!!! This tasting was exactly what I envisioned for a Napa wine tasting. It was just our group at a nice table outside overlooking the vineyard. We started with a rose which I loved enough to ship one home. We tried like 5 different wines, including a super old one which was cool. I'm not a huge alcohol drinker, but I really appreciated Favian's explanations of the wines and comparing them to one another. We took a ton of photos on the property, and spent about 2.5 hours there. Would 100% recommend Clos du Val to anyone visiting Napa. read more
