Wine tasting while viewing the grounds. Beautiful.

We had family visiting from the south of France and they asked for beautiful wineries. They loved their visit to Piazza Del Dotto as it was nothing short of spectacular--a truly beautiful visit in a stunning setting. We took some time to explore their lush gardens, picturesque vineyards, and immaculate grounds, which provided the perfect backdrop while sipping a glass of wine. This winery is the epitome of timeless elegance--Italy in the Napa Valley. The service was absolutely fabulous--warm, welcoming, and attentive. We're already planning our return for a full wine cave experience, ready to delve even deeper into their exceptional offerings.

I think you probably need a very specific personality to enjoy this cave tour. The tour guide very direct, not really tolerable to anything that was not what he was speaking about and there was little room for it to be relaxing. The tour felt like it was go go go and the pours were really small compared to all the other places we had been that weekend. The positives, the tour ends with pizza and a glass of wine in their beautiful patio by the gardens. I think a tasting probably would have been more my style when visiting this location than the tour. P.S. There are no photos or videos allowed when touring which is fine but an FYI so you know before you go.

Beautiful and breathtaking winery! They have a couple different tours you can inquire about. This particular winery is known for tasting the wines straight out the wine barrels. Inside where you taste the wine, the decor is something out of a movie! The wine we tasted was between 2021-2023. I must say Roxanne the tour guide, was very informative and knowledgeable about all the wines and their history. She even taught us how the wines get their different flavors from the barrels. I won't spoil that for you, that way you can come see and hear it for yourself. After the tour we ended it off with pizza , some treats and more wine! I give this place a 10/10 and I highly recommend it.

Definitely up there on our favorite wineries list We paid $120 pp plus $50 tip for our guide 1.5 hrs with a tour around the property About 5/6 wine tastings straight from the barrel Amazing time, gorgeous ambiance Great wines, awesome tour guide Couldn't expect anything more! .... Oh then shows up the pizza!!! What a great surprise, had no idea after the tour they give out a glass of wine WITH FOOD to conclude the tour 10/10 will definitely be back!!!

We came here on a Saturday afternoon. We were running a bit behind because of traffic. We called and they were very accommodating to push our reservation back so we could enjoy the full tour. Once we arrived we were greeted in the front with a nice glass of rose and were able to walk the premises, which was beautiful. Our guide met us and told us we would be enjoying some barrel tastings in the cave. He was very knowledgeable about his wines and the property, as well as the sister properties. Once the tour concluded we sat outside and enjoyed a pizza and some tater tots with our wine. I bought a couple bottles to enjoy at home because they had some great reds. I would definitely come back, this place is great!

We really enjoyed our first visit to del Dotto. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. We loved chatting with everyone and talking about different wines and snacks to pair with them. The tots and bread sticks are a real nice touch to the tasting. Definitely helps you soak up the wine a bit before the next stop. Can't wait to try their other location!

Any place that balances generous tastings of wine with pizza is a win in my book. Upon entry, check in was simple - we were asked to select our pizza choice and then we were given a tasting of a wine to enjoy while we waited for our tour to start. During this time we were also allowed to walk the garden. Promptly at our appointment time, we were guided to the cave where we were able to sample at least 6 more wines. It was very interesting to taste them at different ages because even for a wine noob like myself, you could clearly taste the increasing complexity and distinctly note different characteristics. After the tour, we were returned to the garden area where we were served our pizzas of choice with some tator tots and a couple other pours of wine lol. They definitely take care of you here haha! The carbs were super clutch and I'll also give credit where credit is due, the pizza had a nice tender crust and the charred broccolini that we opted for made each bite nice and herbaceous too! Vincenzo was a great guide and overall we greatly enjoyed our experience!

Our sixteenth (and second to last) winery stop of our Napa trip last year found us at Del Dotto winery. We came for our tour in the caves on a day where some of the grounds were under construction, but we were excited to check out all the same. Maybe it was the fact we were on our third tour of the day and towards the end of our trip, maybe it was the fact we weren't allowed to photograph within the caves, maybe it was that one of the other guests on our tour made it clear she didn't drink red wine, even though we were clearly on a tour tasting barrel-aged red wines as what was advertised and selected. I found the experience underwhelming. Make no mistake, the grounds around the tasting house and patio are gorgeous. The backdrop definitely radiates Italian vibes as if you were touring one of the Italian regions such as Piedmont or Tuscany. The interior tasting area is beautifully designed with dark wood finishing and stained glass. The fountains and statues were beautiful against green hedges. Our guide was very friendly, and had us sample four different barrel-aged reds that were solid, and had a fine knowledge on the wines and the winery. But in comparison to some of the other wineries we frequented, I didn't find them show-stopping to where I would spend what the bottles go for retail at the tasting room. Additionally, every cave from the previous wineries we toured never had issues with photography within them, so being restricted within Del Dotto was off putting. While the caves were also well decorated in a Mediterranean design that set it apart from other caves we toured, i did wonder if there were other caves where most of the barrels were aging. You did feel you were more in a museum setting than a wine cave, even if the design was opulent and stylish. This experience made the winery more touristy in feel in contrast to some of the wineries where you felt more like those who were enthusiastic about the wine and wine in general were there. Having someone on our tour that didn't drink red wine and outright refused to try any within the group we were in also didn't help the experience. It would be one thing if it was tour where there was supposed to be a mix of red and whites, but per my memory, Del Dotto does mostly Cabernet Sauvignon reds so that shouldn't have been a surprise or a disappointment.

#1. We were able to secure a reservation same day. #2 Gorgeous surroundings and decorative statues and horticulture #3. Staff are genuinely kind and awesome #4. Food was delicious and we learned that nothing really pairs with artichoke but we won't stop trying. Thank you for the amazing experience!!

Del Dotto is an upper class winery with the widest range of cabernets (15 versions) ranging from $70 to $500. They have an excellent Zinfandel and pinots, bubbles and port. Construction is ongoing to the $350 million+ project with expansion to include more caves, balcony tasting, crush pad and fountains and bridge on the lake. While membership perks have diminished post-pandemic, the service and quality of the wine is world class. For your expectations, since the fires, the number of barrel tastings were reduced. At one point they literally didn't have any David to barrel taste. So while the tasting fees are high, it is Napa and you are walking on structures built by Italians artisans (saw them working) with stone and materials shipped from Italy. All the cabs are fantastic, big , bold, lots of structure and high alcohol. Make this your last stop otherwise you won't make stop 2 or 3. And the wines are so big you'll get palette fatigue anyways. The nickname for Del Dotto is Del Blotto. Everyone is always friendly and very knowledgeable. Oscar, Simon and Roseanne are my absolute favorite hosts! End our tour food is always awesome and if you're lucky you'll get the tomatoes. Do enjoy the garden if the weather is great and say hi to the chickens and peacocks. Spring time all the blooms are out and the garden is beautiful. We've done Barrels and Beast and that is such an amazing experience. We've also done the food pairing and everyone was matched perfectly. Food pairing is a one stop day event. People coming here complaining about the lake bridge not open or the construction and high tasting fee cost are coming here for instagram pictures not the wine. Piazza is a "must do" experience and you just might see Dave among the guests.

    Edmond T.

This is THE wine tasting to be, period. I have been a proud member for a few years, been to the various locations for over 50 visits and the experience and the wine is just amazing. I personally like the Piazza location the best because of the elevated food pairing experience. The delicacies is the way to go ($225 for non members, $175 for members) which included the cave barrel tasting (about 45 minutes) which is just super fun and educational. Honestly, this never gets old even though I have visited 100 + times. Then you are seated in the patio - beautiful garden area with the 5 courses lunch that I am so blown away. You cannot get this quality of food even at Bouchon or other Michelin starred restaurants! Spoiler alert here is a sample lunch menu: Tsar Nicoulai Reserve Caviar, Smoked Ivory Salmon, Roasted Garlic Flatbread Maine Lobster Roll, with Brioche Bun Bronze Die Radiatori Carbonara, Wolfe Ranch Pancetta, with Sweet Peas Amazing!!!!

    The tasting room, main floor.

You couldn't have a more unique and awesome wine experience. Special credit goes to Doug, our Wine Educator who made our Barrel Wine Experience fun, engaging and informative. Additional credit to Dave the winemaker for such innovative, curious and awesome winemaking. Hands down some of the best wine I've had in any part of the world. Combine this with a gorgeous atmosphere (and they feed you after). This is an experience not to be missed!

Amazing winery. As members, We had the VIP tour and Vincenzo was our wine tour guide and Client representative. The winery is so so romantic and it will remind you of Italy. We had the high end wines to taste and took home some of the new Villa de lago and Beast wines. We had food after your at the courtyard. Great tasting wood fired pizza and some charcuterie paired with amazing reserve wines. David Del Dotto happens to be there and signed our beast 6 bottle lot. I shopped for some candles to take home. I definitely recommend this place.

So I called and someone actually answered the phone and made my appointment for me, THANK you! We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. We also received a complimentary cheese and cracker board and ended up buying a bottle of Hypothesis at the end -- brought it to dinner and it was enjoyable :) will definitely be back here

I finally made it to horseback riding and wine tasting and it was worth it. The property is…read moreabsolutely stunning! The charcuterie board was really good and we were able to get refills which was nice. We opted for both wine options. Everything was explained well and the service was top tier. The outside ambiance was really nice I wish they had low music playing but other than that so worth it.

I was looking forward to celebrating a friend's birthday at Shadybrook Estate Winery, but…read moreunfortunately, the experience was disappointing from beginning to end. Our horseback riding reservation was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. We arrived on time with a group of five, but our ride was delayed approximately 30 minutes while staff waited for another reservation--a party of one--that arrived late. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have minded waiting. However, this was frustrating because during a previous visit, when our group was running late, we called ahead and were told there was absolutely no flexibility. Our ride was completely rescheduled because we were told the 1:00 p.m. ride was the last time slot of the day and they couldn't make other groups wait. It was disappointing to see that policy applied differently when it inconvenienced other guests instead. During the horseback ride itself, there was one staff member leading the group and another following behind. The guide in front shared the history of the winery, but despite riding near the front, I couldn't hear most of what she was saying. If guests are meant to enjoy the educational aspect of the tour, there needs to be a better way for everyone to hear. Additionally, it felt as though much of the staff's attention was focused on the solo rider in our group. They appeared to know her on a first-name basis, and whether they had a prior relationship or were simply trying to make sure she was comfortable, it left the rest of our group feeling overlooked. Unfortunately, the service issues continued during the wine tasting. Before we could begin, our wine consultant insisted that payment had not been made and stated he could not pour any wine until payment was collected. I had already paid in full and ultimately had to log into my bank account and show proof that the transaction had gone through before we could proceed. That was an awkward and unnecessary way to begin the tasting experience. The wines themselves were enjoyable but nothing particularly memorable. At the conclusion, our consultant simply ended the experience without offering a revisit of any of the wines we had tasted--a courtesy that many wineries provide and one we've come to expect during guided tastings. One final disappointment was the lack of any personal touches. I made this reservation months in advance for a birthday celebration and, after reading numerous positive reviews, was excited by the thoughtful details other guests described--such as personalized menus with guests' names at each place setting. Instead, we were given standard menus with no acknowledgment that we were celebrating a special occasion. While this may seem like a small detail, it's those thoughtful touches that often elevate a wine country experience and make guests feel valued. It was disappointing to see that level of hospitality missing, especially after booking so far in advance and reading such glowing reviews The property is beautiful, and the horses were wonderful and appeared well cared for, but the inconsistent customer service, lack of attention to guests, and overall rushed experience left us disappointed. Given the premium price of this experience, I expected much better hospitality and consistency. Unfortunately, I wouldn't choose to return or recommend it based on this visit.
