They have carpet on the decks outside so you don't burn your feet walking in the sun, and the pool is refreshing and cool, not cold but just right. The staff are very hospitable and friendly, and everyone just keeps to themselves in the hot spring area. This is a clothing optional hot spring, and I was the only one wearing a swimsuit, but I felt comfortable there. If you come here bring a cold water bottle as it gets hot in the summer. In terms of value, there were only 3 hot tubs and it was "nice" but I feel like you are paying more for the special privacy afforded by this place. Anyway I'm glad I came here.

Not worth it at all. I know it's subjective but the "healing" feeling just wasn't there for me…read morelike the other hot springs. Tried it twice. Too expensive for a 7 hour "day pass" and definitely to overnight with two night minimum and super high prices. No cold plunge (it's a small tub with cold water dripping in but gets almost luke warm as the day progresses) so you can't do hot cold therapy. The pool is also not a "cold plunge" and smells like chlorine, anyway. The water is way too strong, it burns off a layer of skin. Super drying also. Didn't feel like just hanging out and relaxing either time. The water therapy doesn't feel as effective without a cold plunge. Really nice kitchen and indoor spaces. Those are the strengths.

Here is my run down on the place: Check-In: (4 Stars) very nice at the front desk, but found out later they had wine tasting from check in at 4 to 5pm. Why not offer a glass? I came to find out that the wine taster never showed. Customer Service Texting: Love that they have CS texting, they are very responsive and informative about things going on including how to check out. Room: (4 Stars) Bed: comfortable, good quality, high off the ground Pillows: 2 per person Night Stands: Space for tech and water, both sides had USB plugs Bed Lightning: individual reading lights on each side of the bed Extra Seating: 2 chairs and small table Mini fridge: plenty of room for your stuff Outside bathroom mirrors: full length on the closet door The in-room AC unit was very loud and doesn't turn off automatically after the temperature is reached. Bathroom: (4 Stars) Toilet didn't have its own closet (removed 1 star), slow close seat was nice, but no fan. Walk in Shower with plenty of room. Great water pressure, shower head on the wall, no water fall which is good, no shower wand but still good shower Sink: only 1, counter space limited for 2 people. Only 1 towel rack holder and a hook. Make up Mirror was nice No tub which is fine for this type of room Closet: (4 Stars) No Iron or iron board but they have seamer Hooks: none Hangers: plenty, good quality, some men's and regular plus 2 ladies. Robes: good quality, full length, no slippers Umbrellas,Flash light, small camping lantern, nice touch Maid Service: (4 Stars) no issues View: (4 Stars) nice gardens, well maintained, with a rock feature fountain up the hill Outdoor Amenities: (5 Stars) Pool: one very large natural spring water heated pool and an adult pool that's a little cooler Pool bar: water station, food, snacks, cocktail That's it, enjoy your stay...

I rarely leave anything but 5-star reviews, so I hate having to write a negative one--especially…read morebecause I've always loved Indian Springs. But I also hate spending my hard-earned money to be treated poorly. My mom has been coming here since she was a teenager, and our family has continued the tradition every summer. My husband and I love Hill House so much that when our wedding was canceled during COVID, we even eloped here in 2020. That's why this stay was so disappointing. While relaxing by the pool, my family was eating a small bag of pretzels. Other staff members walked by, checked in on us, and were warm and friendly. Dylan, however, stopped solely to tell us to put the pretzels away. He was unfriendly and condescending; and we later found that he didn't put forth the same effort to tell other people who brought outside snacks. We ordered poolside food and drinks from another, much friendlier server. Unfortunately, Dylan delivered the order and then informed us that our small speaker also wasn't allowed, even though it had been playing quietly the entire time and the pool was nearly empty (see the attached photo). I disagree with the rules here, but there's also a way to enforce policies without making guests feel unwelcome. We weren't disturbing anyone, we were simply trying to enjoy a family vacation. One employee's attitude changed the tone of our day. If you're deciding where to stay, we've had wonderful experiences at the Bungalows of Calistoga across the street, and for a more premium experience try Carneros Resort which has an even better pool, incredible cottages, beautiful views, outstanding service, and Domaine Carneros just across the road for champagne tasting. It's amazing how one interaction can overshadow years of loyalty. And also, management should ensure staff enforce policies with kindness, professionalism, and hospitality--especially when guests are paying premium prices to be there.

We stayed in one of the soaking rooms and it was wonderful. We were provided with towels and salts to use specifically for the soaking tub. The tub was conveniently located in the main room with a view of the large screen TV which also could be pulled out from the wall and angled towards the tub and bed. We were a little confused about how the tv worked since it seemed that other guests were signed in to the streaming platforms, but that was likely user error. Perhaps a little note about logging in to streaming services next to the TV might be useful for others in the future. We were also able to access live channels. The room was clean, and had a microwave and mini fridge for our leftovers after eating out or for small grocery items from CalMart. The location is great and a short walk to downtown Calistoga. We were provided with robes at check in which were useful for the hot tubs and pools. There are two mineral water hot tubs of different temperatures and one large mineral pool for swimming. There are showers and changing rooms available in the pool area as well. They provided bicycles and helmets that we could take to ride during the desk hours. We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived in Calistoga and checked into the hotel and spa. While a few of us checked in for our massages, my daughter and partner checked into our room. The massages were wonderful, we were very relaxed and went back to the room to change to swimwear. Note: The flavored waters near the spa are delicious, try them all. Our room was a really nice renovated King Suite, that also has a Queen bedroom attached. A little kitchen area, fridge sink and table, then the restroom area with added storage and seating. The pool is amazing, the water is so fresh and relaxing. The two hot tubs are heated to separate temperatures, it was just so nice to spend time going there. I found the early morning swim to be the best way to start my day. On my departure day, I decided to try a mud-bath treatment with my sister and although it was not my first time, I realized that mud baths are just not my thing. Staff was great, the spa was fantastic, hotel and pool were so relaxing. I would definitely book another weekend at the Golden Haven and recommend you treat yourself too.

We parked at the lot along the road and then crept down the craggy, crumbling, nearly vertical litter-strewn trail. At last, we found a tiny flat spot where we were able to lean against the rocks and write out our last wills and testaments before stumbling upon the musty skeleton of some poor sap who foolishly came before us (see photo). It was a miracle when we reached the bottom. We knew we were close when the foul stench stung our nostrils. It was an olfactory assault akin to smelling salts. Ahoy! There it was! A small, tepid tidepool inhabited by salty Stinson Beach derelicts and one small baby great white shark. We held our noses and waded into the dank tarn. The water clung clammily to our shivering skin. The joy! So unappealing! A sea anemone kissed me on the cheek and I had had enough. We hiked away in shame and somehow we had to climb straight down again to get back to the car, this time aided by a thin, antique rope (see photo). The best thing to report about this trip was that we made it back to our car! I loved it so much I'll be back next year!
