    Tobi teaching us the ropes

Been here twice & amazing both times. Tobi is a saint for her extended patience and accommodations. Such a rad experience to ride healthy horses on the beautiful vacant beaches.

We are regular customers here, my daughter really enjoys horseback riding, especially on the beach and in the water. Quality/Quantity - Option of beach or mountain redwood forest ride. This is a slow relaxing 90 min ride/walk down a hill and on the beach. Tobi matches your riding ability with the proper horse. These horses are so experienced, I usually just sit and let the horse do the riding, LOL. Helmets (free) available if wanted. Private beach, short ride back and forth from the beach. Today was high tide, so we spent some time in the water, which made my daughter so happy. She also picked the horse (Caddy) that likes the water. BTW Caddy likes to be the last of the herd. My horse Hemy dislikes water... But I am easy going. Oh, and Hemy also likes to be in the back, next time I will pick an alpha horse like Tank, who you are not allowed to pass on the ocean side. :) Atmosphere - Open 7 days a week by appointment. 10 am, noon and 2 pm ride times. Service - Tobi is very professional and patient. Price - $60 per person, but 5/1/22 it goes up to $70. Accepts credit and debit cards. Owner Suggestion - Tobi Ross, the owner, is GREAT. She has 14 horses.

Tobi was an Amazing guide. Her horses were well maintained, well mannered & I felt safe the entire ride. She gives a great run down of the course or trail and even explains the horses tendencies. My horse, Hemi, liked to walk rigghhhttt on the ledge. Would recommend to anyone !

What a fun experience!! We were visiting Mendocino from Sacramento for the weekend in January and even in the midst of rainy season this was an awesome adventure. Rain was expected all weekend but Tobi and the horses were ready for a rain ride if we were! She provided helmets which was expected, but she also had gloves for us to wear since it was rainy and chilly. So nice and thoughtful. Bundled up, we rode down a switch back trail on our horses to the beach. We crossed multiple little streams, and the horses loved the water! They were all very well behaved and easy/comfortable to ride. Highly recommend, great ride!

I was up at Fort Bragg and looked for horse back riding places to take my wife for a quick day date and there was several different ones that showed up on my maps (iPhone) and this one was not only the cheapest but she had a great response time and very communicative (Tobi). Tobi is the owner and operator of the business and you can tell she loves her horses, her passion is horses. The views were amazing, pictures don't do it justice especially with a beautiful horse underneath you. The ride time was approximately an hour and a half, the price for the time was very well worth it. There are other places that were charging $135+ a horse for 1 hour. 10/10 would like to come back and bring my kids for this experience as well!

Beyond fantastic time. Super nice hosts and son's 1st time horseback riding - he is ready to do it again! Thanks for an awesome time, we will be back again!!

5 stars for scenery, location, and care of the horses. 4 stars for the ride being in a crowded straight line at a slow walk which isn't the most fun for folks who ride regularly. Also because although Tobi and her daughter are great horsewomen, they were a bit prickly. When you arrive, they ask if you'd like a helmet (it is also a question you have to sign off on on the safety waiver)--Tobi made a condescending comment about the customers only choosing to wear helmets "because they see everyone else wearing one." No one should ever be judged for choosing to protect their skull while riding a 1000 lb animal, especially when they've never ridden before. This rubbed me the wrong way but can be forgiven as Tobi clearly cares about safety-- she took great care of the kiddos and newbies on the ride I was on, and there were a number of them, which I assume is why our ride was so slow and cautious. All that said, don't be afraid to ask for a helmet! The likelihood of anything happening on these seasoned, well-trained horses is very low, but still, just in case: you are not uncool if you value your brain. Be advised that there are some pretty steep hills/cliffs to climb up and down to get to/from the beach. If you're afraid of heights or nervous on horseback, this might be a little challenging but nothing too crazy. We enjoyed it! The beach ride was indeed GORGEOUS and my husband and I had a great time and would return. The weather was perfect. Heads up that Google Maps took us on some winding treacherous death rode to get there-- DO NOT TAKE MOUNTAIN VIEW ROAD if you're coming from the south. I wish they did private rides because I'd love to go for a lope on this beach (if it's safe footing, of course). Really appreciate them taking pictures for everyone! Recommended.

Ross ranch was amazing at accommodating our last minute reservation! We went on their beach trail and even though the fog came in, we had a great time!!

    My whole heart family‍

I've ridden with them twice and both times it was an amazing trip ... can't wait for my best adventure

We had the most AMAZING time on our horseback ride on the beach. Tobi was so patient and sweet and very personable during our ride. The horses were calm and good for us beginning riders! We went on a rainy overcast day but everything was perfect. We can't wait to book with her again and do their trail ride.

Came up from the Bay Area for a quick spring break trip with my 7yo and we had the best time horseback riding. Tobi was responsive, knowledgeable, professional, and all around kind. It was a great experience!

It doesn't get more magical than this!

Wow! What an amazing experience it was to ride the horses from Ross Ranch from the bluff overlooking the beach, down the steep cliff, and then along the beach. The setting could not have been more beautiful. We saw glimpses of whales, seals and sea lions all frolicking off the coast and enjoyed picturesque vistas under blue skies with crisp autumn air. The horses were all well kept, sweet natured and a joy to be around. Tobi, who runs the operation, was incredibly sweet and a great guide for our two hour ride along the beach. Absolutely will go again next time we're in the area and can't recommend this enough!

The counselors were fun and supportive. The activities were engaging. Thomas loved the food. This year he encouraged a friend from school to join him. That boy had a great time, and they both made new friends too. Thomas came back with greater confidence and displaying more independence too. We can't wait to get back the pictures he took with his disposable camera! What I love best, besides hearing the stories about him getting up early to care for the horses that he once found intimidating, was the call we received from Dawn mid-week. We weren't worried. We've had great experiences at Cloverleaf. We know the ratios of campers to counselors allows for attentive care. Still, the mid-week phone call telling us how his week was going just reinforced how much the staff really cares. For this reason, Cloverleaf will continue to be a Cremidis family tradition for many years to come. Next year, little brother will be old enough for residential camp and he's already making plans for how he'll spend his time.

I didn't feel comfortable with this arrangement and am glad I didn't sign my daughter up for sleep-away camp. She enjoyed the day camp but the staff seemed more concerned with protecting themselves rather than allowing parents to protect their children. I was expecting some nice local horse riding girls to mentor her and instead had to leave her with boys who wouldn't tell me their names. She won't be back.

I understand it can be challenging for trail groups when there's a mixed group like ours - one advanced, some intermediate, and the rest beginners - but Five Brooks made it so every single one of us had an enjoyable time! We chose the Salmon Creek 1.5 hour ride and had a blast with our guide, Jay. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get that close to the creek as I thought we would from other reviews and the description on the website, but maybe it was due to our group size (7 + guide) or our mixed levels of experience. We did get a few opportunities to trot, and the sights were gorgeous. I may have fallen in love with my horse, Cody, a beautiful palomino (which is saying something because I have a palomino of my own at home) but he was so responsive that I really enjoyed riding him. I have family in the area, so I'm already trying to plan my next trip so I can go ride with this group again!

Five Brooks is the riding stables that provides a variety of group or private guided horseback rides, with a view of the ocean and includes rides along Salmon Creek or on the beach ! We choose the Picnic private ride along Salmon Creek which included a up hill majestic overlook ride where hawks and Ospreys were, and a duck pond where Herons and Egrets were seen, all beautiful and natural landscapes. We lucked out as it was a cloudless day with 7 mph winds as this area can be more windy and foggy. Andrea our guide was super helpful, friendly, accommodating and so easy to ride with, explaining the personalities of our horses. They help you mount and dismount, fit you to the saddle and encourage you to pet and talk to your horse. We rode up hill and down and the horses were very fit and in good health and eager to trot up the hill! I weigh 207 lbs and my horse Cody was not lazy underneath me a they have horses that will accommodate larger people. The views were spectacular and the trotting was fun. After our ride we came back to the ranch stables for a picnic on a park like table in a meadow that was tasty deli sandwiches, chips, Gatorade and some Snickerdoodle cookies, we brought our own wine which is allowed. It was a great ride, nice pace and the horses were fantastic, easy to ride, steer, and very easy going but energetic and not tired as they can be in public riding stables. Next time I go back I want to do the beach ride! Everything went well overall, the only minor hick up was my triple E width boots were too wide for the stir ups but they just moved them to a sideways position and adjusted the length and was fine. Leave earlier than GPS says as it takes longer on rural roads to give yourself time and there are speed bumps on the entrance road to the Ranch, so it's a slow approach. Cowboy Up!
