The staff was great. The facilities (not that I'm an expert) seem spacious and clean. The staff obviously care about the animals and are knowledgeable. They spent a lot of time explaining all the health care the animals have available. The tour was definitely worth the price. I read some of the negative reviews. These seem to be from a few years ago, so they are listening and correcting. The ONE thing that irritated me, my wife and others (judging from comments at the time): They start showing a documentary before the tour (show up at least 30 minutes early). They don't finish, but you can watch it all on streaming. The irritating part is they are preparing for the tour during the documentary. Lots of us would have liked to hear, but the manager and employees were all talking (or shouting) preparations. Maybe they could do this BEFORE the documentary or OUTSIDE?? But it is definitely five stars, even with this little glitch. Check it out and help the animals! read more

B. Bryan Preserve is a wonderful organization dedicated to protecting African wildlife. My partner and I did the self-guided driving tour in our own car, which was a great way to see some of the species up close. We went on a Saturday morning in February, so the experience was peaceful, quiet, and calm. While not a whole lot of animals were out during our slot (just doing their animal thing!), we were still able to see a nice variety of species. The absolute highlight was getting to feed the giraffes at the end of the tour! They are such majestic creatures, and it was a fun, interactive activity. We finished the tour fairly quickly since many animals weren't right up against the fence that day, but it's a fantastic activity to add to your itinerary if you're spending a full day exploring the coast. You can truly tell that the caretakers value and care deeply for these animals. It's a great experience that supports an excellent cause! read more

What is not to like about this hidden gem in the town of point Arena. The town of point Arena is full of eclectic individuals that are warm and welcoming and make you feel at home. The preserve is within walking distance of the town definite plus make sure to stop by the arena market. Back to the preserve we stayed in the Chapel cottage, which had an upstairs full-size bed that was comfy and clean downstairs had two single beds in the bedroom a fully functional kitchen with a small refrigerator small stove, small microwave coffee pot toaster all the cookware utensils you would need to make meals. Outside is a beautiful deck overlooking Lily pond with a hot tub. Check instructions were easy. The cottage was easy to find the staff was friendly, warm and welcoming. B Bryan Preserve in Point Arena is such a special place. They are a 110-acre private conservation preserve, and offer a most unusual and uncommon wildlife experience, akin to a safari. We did the Range Rover guided tour and were not disappointed. Endangered African animals like Nubian (Rothschild's) giraffes, Grevy's zebras, and Sable antelope roam in large pastures overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The preserve focuses on breeding and conserving species that are threatened or endangered in the wild. The guides are very informative and obviously take pride in what they're doing. I would suggest, as they do, to not take very young kids as they may lose interest. Maybe a lot of snacks will help? :) If you want to visit, reserve well in advance! read more

This preserve is doing great work! The things I learned about giraffes has been vast, such interesting and majestic creatures they are. I recommend taking the tour! You get close up views and get to feed the giraffes at the end. If possible, stay in one of their cottages - It is so quiet and relaxing AND you help to support the preserve in doing so! A win-win. Hands down, one of the best experiences ever! While they don't have a huge variety of animals, the ones they do have are in big numbers, they have buffalos, zebras, giraffes, and a few others. We did the self-guided tour, and you are required to stay inside your car the whole time (except at the giraffe area). Our reservation was for 10 AM, but they kindly let us in around 9:45 with no problem. The kids loved it so much we drove through multiple loops -- especially watching all the zebras. The highlight is at the end with the giraffes, you can get out and feed them. The lettuce is included in the ticket price. It is an amazing photo op, and the staff never rushed us, which makes the experience even better. They give you until 11 AM, which is more than enough time for the whole family to enjoy. Totally worth every penny, and I would say a must visit if you are in the area! There's a small gift shop with wooden toys, fridge magnets, zebra earrings, and other cute souvenirs. What a unique experience located in a small town! My best friends and I opted for the guided safari tour, which I would highly recommend. They have a small fleet of vintage Range Rovers where you feel like you're on an actual safari. The guides were very knowledgeable and I learned so many things about all the animals located here. In our party of - most people have come before! The docents are great- knowledgeable and caring. And interns are part of this group, so young people are helping out and learning hands -on skills. We had booked the VIP tour and had a great experience. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the animals in the preserve and they answered all our questions. The lodging was good, the cottage we stayed in was rustic (from the early 1900s) and we got to enjoy the beautiful views of the landscape. There was only one bathroom though, so if you are coming here with a large family, you might have issues taking turns using it . A few gripes we had was the cleanliness of the dishes in the cabinets, and also the lack of restaurants in the preserve or in the town. It would be nice to at least have a vending machine in the preserve. All in all, I would recommend visiting at least once. read more

My wife and I were looking for something different to do while vacationing In Mendocino county. She came across B Bryan Preserve. We decided to try this African hoofstock preserve on the Mendocino coast. Reservations were easily made through the website (reasonably priced), we chose the guided tour for 3/21, arriving about 15 min prior to the start time, we were welcomed by the staff, and started the tour early as we were the only two guests that had registered for the tour. It's busier on the weekends, according to the staff. The docent (Tay) was very informative and willing to share with us her knowledge of African hoofstock. To top off the tour we were able to hand feed one of the 4 gigantic giraffes B Bryan has on its preserve. It's well worth the price o f admission. read more

My mom loves giraffes so we brought her here for her 85th birthday. We stayed 2 nights in one of the cabins they have on the property. The cabin was very cute and had everything we needed to be comfortable during our visit, including a well stocked kitchen. Staying in the cabin was very similar to being at a very well run Airbnb house. The animals were amazing! We could watch the giraffe's from our deck and the bedroom window! The tour was fun and informitive. Feeding the giraffe's at the end was awesome. It is very obvious that their main focus here is to preserve the species and make sure the animals are living their best life, unlike some other places that have a "zoo or petting zoo" type of vibe. We reserved for my birthday and unfortunately myself and my son woke up really sick, we called to see if we can exchange dates but person was extremely rude and didn't even care. I explained to him that we didn't want to get any body else sick or make other people not have a good time but he didn't care and said if we didn't show up we would loose our money. Preserve and Report A private preserve that's dedicated to breeding and preserving African animals that are either endangered or critically endangered, including two species of zebras, antelopes and giraffes. The Good: *Def a worthy cause and a place animal lovers should support. *Staff was friendly and seemed to genuinely care for the animals. *Get pretty up close and personal with the animals, but you're always plenty safe with the fences. *Get to ride around in these sweet old UK Land Rovers® *Animals are well-cared for. *Giraffe feeding was fun and pretty much the only reason most people visit if we're being honest. The Meh: *While the Land Rovers were fun, it wasn't fun being squeezed in elbow-to-elbow w/ strangers--esp during The Covids®. If you're squeamish, then maybe take a soft pass. I personally don't care about The 'Rona but not a fan of no personal space. *When we first arrived, nobody greeted us, and there weren't really any clear directions about what to do. We ambled into a dusty, dark gift shop along with the other bleary-eyed guests that were watching some strange video about animal preservation. It honestly felt like we were about to be indoctrinated into some weird cult. The Ugly: *Unfortunately, your enjoyment of the program is directly tied into who you're paired up with in your Land Rover. We had a couple of families with young kids who knew no boundaries and had no etiquette. You try not to let other's behavior affect your mood, but when all you can think about is shoving your foot up the parent's ass because they don't know how to discipline their kids, it kind of spoils your mood. #AngerIssues TLDR: Fun, a little pricey but overall worth it. read more

I spent two nights at B Bryan in the "Bridge Cottage" which is in a row of small houses separated by trees and fence from the nearby giraffe enclosure. I'd like to focus on a few key areas for my review: RESERVATIONS & COMMUNICATION Reserving the cottage via the website was easy -- very clear to see availability, and heaps of photos and descriptions that made it for a difficult choice between the cottages. I had a question about reserving a tour and got an immediate response by email. All my questions were answered by SMS by Judy while I was on site. Everyone who worked there was super friendly and informative. ACCOMMODATION All the cottages have access to a hot tub, as well as small kitchens. Bridge Cottage has a wood deck that wraps around both sides, with a narrow gang way / raised boardwalk to the hot tub. There's a small shed adjacent to the hot tub with extra firewood. A trail runs along side this cottage that cottage guests can use to walk to the Zebra Crossing Gate for their tours. The cottage was gorgeous -- it was full of personalized touches from Fillmore concert posters & photos of the animals on the walls, to a pair of robes and beach towels for the jacuzzi. The kitchen is stocked with essentials -- sugar, salt, pepper, coffee and black tea, as well as tea towels, foil, plastic containers and the usual glasses, plates, utensils. There are knives but they are stored point down in a box under the sink -- if you're fussy about knives, bring your own knives. There are even some plastic bowls and a sippy cup for wee ones. The bed was pretty comfortable and had the right combination of light and heavy blankets, along with a couple extra fleecy blankets. It was very quiet though there was a bit of noise from the upstairs bedroom closet generated by some HVAC/hot water system or something I couldn't identify. The stained glass windows provide privacy and also allow for ambient light in a way that was not disturbing -- it was perfectly lovely TOUR & PRESERVE It was chilly and rainy when I arrived -- but one of the giraffes peeked out of the barn and I was very excited to get a peek. Giraffes don't like cold weather and will go in and out of the barn to warm up and eat. Zebras don't care about the rain - they just hang out and eat and do their thing. The antelopes, kudus, roan and other animals likewise didn't hide out from the rain. I signed up for the guided tour my first day. Animal caretaker Zane lead the guided tour that I attended. He was knowledgeable, informative and friendly (I spoke with him earlier in the day after returning from the beach). Please check out the website and find out more about the animals -- this is a great place to learn more about the animals and to just admire them. Giraffes, zebras, antelopes, musk ox and even a young doe named Duh who showed up to share a paddock with a retired stud zebra named Elvis (she's no dummy!). My second day, I signed up for a self guided tour -- the map and brochure provided were beautifully designed. If you haven't done the guided tour before -- I highly recommend it. I was able to recite some of the statistics and trivia that Zane shared to a friend who joined me on the self-guided tour. FELINE HOSTS Finally, I can't leave out the feline hosts of the property. Ginger tabby Andy met me at the Zebra crossing gate at sunrise for pets and love. I found out that his littermate, Amos, a black and white tuxedo, loved to stay with guests. After my guided tour, I carried Amos back to my cottage from the "general store." (Note: none of my own cats would tolerate me carrying them for the distance that I carried Amos back to Bridge Cottage.) Amos was very good company - he let me know when the wood fire needed attention, let me rub his belly and let me know when he wanted to go out. He also let me know when he wanted to go back in and stayed the night with me. I'm looking forward to returning in warmer weather to see more of the giraffes (and Amos!). read more

We did the self-guided tour in our own vehicle. You are not allowed to get out of the vehicle until you get to the giraffe site. I would not recommend the vehicle tour since they only have four different types of animals to see, it goes pretty quick. At the end of the tour, you get to feed a giraffe, and it was pretty cool for my two kids. The giraffe guide was very nice and informative. On the other hand, the gift shop personnel are not friendly at all. They really do not care if you buy something or not. read more

Such a wonderful place! I truly can't say enough. We stayed two nights in the Giraffe Cottage. There's easy access to the beaches, light house, and nearby restaurants of Point Arena. The price was reasonable for a private cottage, that was roomy but cozy, and perfect for two people. Especially when it comes with a private deck and hot tub. More importantly, where else in California can you open your window in the morning to see Giraffes, just 30 feet away, having their breakfast while you sip your coffee? It was incredible! The staff were all amazing, their care of the animals and passion for what they do is inspiring. A safari comes with a stay at the preserve. We were able to learn about the different animals at the there, ask questions of staff working directly with the animals, and it ends with an opportunity to hand feeding the giraffes, an experience I highly recommend and will never forget. my son and i were there last Tuesday. we enjoyed meeting Elvis the zebra and Massy the giraffe, among the many 4 legged friends we have met that day. We rode in safari jeeps, driven by experienced tour guides. we learned new things about these beautiful animals. the cherry on top of this tour was, we were able to feed, up close and personal, one of their oldest giraffe. it was quite an experience. the drive up to that place was scenic, pulling into their driveway, seeing that video, standing a few feet away from these animals......it was quite an experience! thank you!!!! read more

Well furnished cabins, able to cook your own meals so you can stay put and fully enjoy the surroundings, including the hot tub on your private deck and yard. Tiny wood fireplace with pieces of kindling/wood provided. Just magical, sitting in the hot tub looking at the giraffes just yards away.
