This ranch was located just 20 min North of our B and B in Mendocino. They had a slot on the public tour for Sat at 930am and we ended up being in a group with 4 other people. Upon reserving they do ask for your height, weight, and age so they can get you on an appropriate horse and possibly due to weigh restrictions, didn't ask. Emily was our wonderful guide. She was always smiling, engaging, knowledgeable, and gave friendly instructions on guiding the horses. She led us safely across the road and then into MacKerricher State Park for a little trail ride through the woods and then along the beach and even onto the beach for a little bit. She will get off her horse and take pics of your group if you want. We could even see seals on the rocks in the distance! The whole experience lasts around an hour from saddling up to sliding off (purposefully, of course!) It was $60 a person and tip. My equestrian experience is limited but my wife barrel raced as a youth and we both thoroughly enjoyed, so this is definitely a fun time for all levels.

We took the 2 hour "beach ride" and it was just my husband and me with our guide. The 2 hours included time putting on the free helmets, mounting our horses and getting instructions, then the ride out and back. 2 hours was just about right. I had reconstructive hip surgery 13 years ago and I could feel it on the horse. Any longer than a 2 hour ride and my hip would have yelled at me. I had Jazz and he had Poncho. Jazz was pretty mellow and Poncho was a bit more rambunctious but not scary. My husband actually had to manage Poncho, not just sit passively while the horse slept through the walk. Poncho tried to eat grass or go his own way then would need to trot so they could catch up to us. Jazz also had to be managed but she was easier than Poncho. Our guide kept the instructions short, easy to understand and very useful. The ride included both a forest and beach ride. We got down for a ride in the sand but most of the ride was up on a trail along the beach or in a forest and along a paved road. I hadn't ridden in at least 40 years, so it was a little intimidating at first but I got the hang of it as did my husband. There was no galloping, just walking.

We had a BLAST riding horses at the Ricochet Ridge Ranch. When we showed up, we were greeted by the cutest ranch dogs. Our guide was so sweet, and friendly. I wish I got her name, she was awesome and made this day an amazing experience that we will never forget. We rode for an hour along a path with ferns and trees, then we rode along a beautiful beach. I'm definitely coming back to do this again! We all loved it and had a blast.

I took my tour today around 1pm with two of my friends. We drove a little under 4 hours to Fort Bragg for the weekend and my friend had done these tours before and signed me up as a surprise! I pulled in and immediately was unsure of what I was about to endure. We did the one hour trip through Mackerricher State Park and I have never in my life been to such a beautiful & relaxing place. Growing up on the East Coast this gorgeous landscape was something that was totally new to me! The guide Harl was so kind and remained calm during the entire trip. He conversated with us but not too much where it had taken away from the overall experience. I have not been on a tour like this before so I don't have anything to base this off of but i really did enjoy my time and would recommend this trip to anyone who is thinking about it!! Thanks again!

My 7 year old daughter and I had a wonderful afternoon beach ride. The staff at Ricochet Ridge Ranch was friendly, professional, and experienced. They provided a memorable experience for my daughter's first interaction with horses. The staff was patient with beginners, and made an effort to introduce new riders gradually to their experience. They made safety a top priority. This was a beautiful way to experience something new with my daughter and we are grateful for the thoroughness and thoughtfulness of the staff. We met some wonderful people.

One of the best trail rides I've ever done. We walked down to the beach and then along it, for a total of one hour. The views were breathtaking, especially the waves crashing against the rocky coast. We also saw adorable baby squirrels, deer; and lots of interesting plants and dunes. There was a little bit of waiting while the horses got pepper for the ride, but it was well worth it. There's no trotting so a total beginner can handle the ride.

We had an amazing experience here with Harl yesterday. Great guides I highly recommended this place if you are around Fort Bragg or the Mendocino area. The trails are along the coast with a beautiful view

Was planning on exploring Fort Bragg over the weekend, and I found a deal for Ricochet Ridge Ranch through Travel Zoo. I called on a weekend to make a reservation and the man on the phone picked up right away and was accommodating. Overall a very easy process. The day of our ride, our two guides were welcoming and very knowledgeable about the horses. I like that they provide helmets and they make you watch a safety video beforehand. Our guides seemed to truly love the horses and knew so much about them (such as their personalities). I rode Voltaire who was a bit of a slow poke who required a bit of prodding but overall he was a sweet fella. Our ride was smooth sailing and had incredible views of the ocean. At the recommendation of the guides, since it was very windy, we only spent a few minutes on the beach itself, but they were able to quickly get pictures of everyone. Overall, for the price and the fact that the horses seem to be treated well, I would come back again! Pro tip: Bring some apples to thank your horse after your ride! Makes for some good photo ops as well.

Ricochet Ridge Ranch provided my daughter with a wonderful Birfmas experience. The rates were reasonable and the guides were very pleasant. One caveat, if you are a fluffy individual, such as myself, there is a weight limit for riders. This is ok. The health and vitality of the horses are definitely more important.

Highly recommend this spot for some beautiful horseback riding through the woods and the beach. The staff of the ranch were all extremely courteous and helpful with the different levels of experience from the riders.

Our guides, Travis and Atlas, provided an educational and interactive experience. At the same time, they gave us our space to explore and just take in the beauty of the redwood forest. I do recommend dressing in layers as the morning half of the ride was cold and the return trip was warmer than expected. Bring gloves if you plan to be the driver because your hands will be exposed to the cold morning air due to controlling the speed of the electric assist controls. Make sure to use the bathroom before you leave. The only stop with a bathroom was at Camp Noyo, which is 12.5 miles from the start. It took my group of 3 rail bikes about 2 hours to get there. Don't be scared of the 25 miles because the electric assist made it an easy ride. I think we were able to pedal, with the assist on, for 90% of the trip. We used the full electric option for about 3-5 minutes total because we wanted to relax our legs. Overall, I recommend the experience, especially if you like being outdoors and surrounded by nature.

With the full length of the tracks not currently open to Willits, it didn't seem worth it to partake in the shorter train rides. However, once I learned about the rail bikes, I was in! There are two options for the rail bikes. The shorter, two hour excursion is to Glen Briar from their downtown Fort Bragg Depot (the Pudding Creek route) is about 7 miles round trip. If you want a full day adventure, there's the Noyo route which is 25 miles and departs from Sherwood road and is noted as a more stenous excursion. Given I was short on time, I opted for the Pudding Creek route. However, I would definitely do the rail bikes again and try the Noyo route. For the Pudding Creek route, we arrived about 15 minutes before our 10 am departure time. There's a small lot for guests and a short walk over to where the bikes are. Instructions are easy to follow and the staff is amazingly helpful and thorough. With the motor assist, pedaling along the rails was rather mellow. At the end of the line, we stopped at a scenic pavilion in the redwoods and had the option of a short guided hike or to just chill and enjoy the picnic area. I had time to do both and it was a really enjoyable way to spend the morning. There's a basket on the front of each bike to store your backpacks and drink holders for your water bottles. Back at the depot, there's a cute gift shop and behind it, a model train exhibit that was pretty cool. I love a good kitschy attraction and this was a fun, touristy thing to do while visiting the area. I enjoyed it so much, that I do wish the route was longer (hence my hope to go back and do the longer Noyo trip.) Sure, it's pricey, but if you can swing the cost, come in with the right expectations and you'll have a fun day, while also learning a bit more about the area from your guides.

I attempted to make a reservation for the harbor tour with Captain Dan for my anniversary. Out of simple curiosity I asked if they ever do whale watching trips at other times of year, but was abruptly interrupted by the person shouting, "why doesn't anyone ever look at the website, we don't do that here!!" I was so taken aback that I apologized and hung up. The tour genuinely looks like it would be lovely and I was interested in what Captain Dan would be able to tell us about! Booking online was super easy, we were sent a confirmation email with a number to call to confirm our tour time. Since the availability of the tour in really dependent on the tide, we did call back a couple weeks ahead to confirm and pay for the tour. Kristin helped us though the process and made it really easy and painless. Captain Dan was super nice. I appreciate all the stories and knowledge he shared about the harbor, who does what in each boat, the surrounding properties, his time in Alaska, and more. Such great conversations. We got pretty lucky because there was a couple boats selling tuna and cleaning fish so there was a lot of sea lions and seals around waiting for fish. We were on an electric boat, so it was really quiet and didn't scare away the marine life and we were able to get up close. We got to see lots of beautiful birds, he had even told us which ones to watch because they dive down and catch fish. And we did see one catch a fish! It was so cool. Such an amazing experience we'd go again the next time we're out in the area. I definitely recommend!

We had emphasized to our guests to be on time for their shuttle pick ups using the schedule provided to us by the company. One of the shuttles was EXTREMELY late for the pickups (between 30 and 45 minutes for some of them). They told the guests that the schedule didn't make sense to them and so they made their own schedule up. This led to a ton of confusion on the wedding day. Some of the guests had actually gotten into their cars to drive themselves because they didn't think anyone was coming by the time the shuttle showed up. One of our guests wanted to go home a little after 11 PM. A different (female) shuttle driver told him they only wanted to go back to his Airbnb one more time so our guest would have to wait until the rest of his party was ready to leave. He ended up waiting two hours later than he wanted. This is absolutely not what we had agreed. In our calls we had discussed multiple times that the shuttles would be running continuously from 10-2 AM to all destinations. All in all, the day was a complete mess from a transportation perspective and fell completely short of the services that we had agreed to and paid for. Before posting this review, I brought these events to the attention of the business owner who did not apologize for our experience and scapegoated his team.
