Although their principal business is fishing charters, we take the Kraken out sometimes on seabirding and/or whale-watching tours. Captain Richard is extremely accommodating and pleasant to work with. His father was (and is) a sea captain as well, so Richard grew up on the sea and is super familiar with these waters. He knows the places where fish, birds, and marine mammals tend to congregate and can get you exactly where you need to be. He is patient and friendly and so are his deckhands. Highly recommended.

Captain James and deckhands worked very hard to put us on fish. Limits for almost everyone. Nice size rockfish and lings.

July 23, 2018, my son and I took my two oldest grandsons out for salmon fishing on the Ambush ...10 year old was his birthday. Both he and 8 year old got limits and nice size fish. In fact, everyone got limits that day, 26 salmon total. I got a 20 and 26 pounder. The crew was amazing. Can't wait to go out again.

Went out again with them this past Saturday. Great as always even though I was sick, again. Third time out with them and the captain Richard is great. He is really knows his stuff. The ocean was crazy rough with huge waves but still felt safe. In a previous negative review lady was pissed off charter was cancelled. I totally get it, but if they cancelled it was for good reason and it must have been crazy unsafe. Crew is a little green but both of them were super nice and attentive. Missed tattoo Mike lol. Been sick 2 out of 3 times and still book trips. They are the only ones that called back the first time and they were very understanding when I had car trouble the second time and had to cancel a trip the week of. They also will go further out or move to keep you on the fish. I've always caught my limit and love having my freezer full of fish.

2 lings, 2 cabs, 2 China, 2 blacks, 2 blues. An amazing spread

Went for a my friend Kristine's birthday, I've never had such a fun captain and deckhand these guys not only put us on fish but were fun guys to be around. The boat is immaculate and beyond well kept. I've seen some other reviews on here clearly from people that don't know anything about fishing. DONT LISTEN TO THE HATERS they don't realize that fishing is fishing and you ever know just how the bite is gonna be. However I will tell you that when the bite did slow down we picked up and went to a prime location. These guys do everything they can to put you on fish. We had an amazing day on the water and I promise if you guys go with them you will too

We had a great trip. The boat hands, especially Taylor, were a great help. My boys were first time ocean fisherman and I am not that comfortable around live fish. Everyone of the staff were right there to help with ratted lines, stuck on the bottom, and any other problem that arose. I look forward to using Anchor Charter Boats in the near future.

This was about my fourth deep sea fishing experience... this boat was wall to wall people only the people in the back were catching the salmon. The rest of us SKUNKED ! The deckhands only paid attention to only the guys in the back of the boat that were catching all the fish. There were six of us in our party we got one nibble. If you ever go on this boat be sure to line up at 6 a.m. To go in the morning and get the back of the boat only

I attempted to make a reservation for the harbor tour with Captain Dan for my anniversary. When I called I reached a voicemail inbox and began to leave a message, but in the middle of it someone picked up - no greeting or other info, just a very brusque "hello?" Out of simple curiosity I asked if they ever do whale watching trips at other times of year, but was abruptly interrupted by the person shouting, "why doesn't anyone ever look at the website, we don't do that here!!" I was so taken aback that I apologized and hung up. The tour genuinely looks like it would be lovely and I was interested in what Captain Dan would be able to tell us about! But I'm not about to risk continuing to being treated so rudely on a special occasion.

My fiancé and I went on a private Noyo Harbor Tour on Monday. This was such a great experience. Booking online was super easy, we were sent a confirmation email with a number to call to confirm our tour time. Since the availability of the tour in really dependent on the tide, we did call back a couple weeks ahead to confirm and pay for the tour. Kristin helped us though the process and made it really easy and painless. Captain Dan was super nice. I appreciate all the stories and knowledge he shared about the harbor, who does what in each boat, the surrounding properties, his time in Alaska, and more. Such great conversations. We got pretty lucky because there was a couple boats selling tuna and cleaning fish so there was a lot of sea lions and seals around waiting for fish. We were on an electric boat, so it was really quiet and didn't scare away the marine life and we were able to get up close. We got to see lots of beautiful birds, he had even told us which ones to watch because they dive down and catch fish. And we did see one catch a fish! It was so cool. Such an amazing experience we'd go again the next time we're out in the area. I definitely recommend!

Please speak to either Kevin, the owner of The Fish Peddler or Michelle Gagne-these two helped my Mother and me obtain the freshest wild salmon just caught from their boat! Also, if you want to catch your own wild salmon, go make reservations to go fishing on The Fish Peddler's Charter, "Rumblefish." It is well worth the trip to go fishing here because up the street from the Fish Peddler is Perko's Restaurant and the Perko's Hotel located on the same property. So call Kevin or Michelle to book your reservations to go fishing on Rumblefish-$75.00 for half-day fishing (you can catch a lot of fish for a half-day O=:-D ) or if you do not have sea legs, just order your seafood of choice from the Fish Peddler. I am positive the Fish Peddler does aim to please all their customers, including my Mother!

At the same time, they gave us our space to explore and just take in the beauty of the redwood forest. I do recommend dressing in layers as the morning half of the ride was cold and the return trip was warmer than expected. Bring gloves if you plan to be the driver because your hands will be exposed to the cold morning air due to controlling the speed of the electric assist controls. Make sure to use the bathroom before you leave. The only stop with a bathroom was at Camp Noyo, which is 12.5 miles from the start. It took my group of 3 rail bikes about 2 hours to get there. Don't be scared of the 25 miles because the electric assist made it an easy ride. I think we were able to pedal, with the assist on, for 90% of the trip. We used the full electric option for about 3-5 minutes total because we wanted to relax our legs. Overall, I recommend the experience, especially if you like being outdoors and surrounded by nature.

With the full length of the tracks not currently open to Willits, it didn't seem worth it to partake in the shorter train rides. However, once I learned about the rail bikes, I was in! There are two options for the rail bikes. The shorter, two hour excursion is to Glen Briar from their downtown Fort Bragg Depot (the Pudding Creek route) is about 7 miles round trip. If you want a full day adventure, there's the Noyo route which is 25 miles and departs from Sherwood road and is noted as a more stenous excursion. Given I was short on time, I opted for the Pudding Creek route. However, I would definitely do the rail bikes again and try the Noyo route. For the Pudding Creek route, we arrived about 15 minutes before our 10 am departure time. There's a small lot for guests and a short walk over to where the bikes are. Instructions are easy to follow and the staff is amazingly helpful and thorough. With the motor assist, pedaling along the rails was rather mellow. At the end of the line, we stopped at a scenic pavilion in the redwoods and had the option of a short guided hike or to just chill and enjoy the picnic area. I had time to do both and it was a really enjoyable way to spend the morning. There's a basket on the front of each bike to store your backpacks and drink holders for your water bottles. Back at the depot, there's a cute gift shop and behind it, a model train exhibit that was pretty cool. I love a good kitschy attraction and this was a fun, touristy thing to do while visiting the area. I enjoyed it so much, that I do wish the route was longer (hence my hope to go back and do the longer Noyo trip.) Sure, it's pricey, but if you can swing the cost, come in with the right expectations and you'll have a fun day, while also learning a bit more about the area from your guides.
