Highly recommended 20lb lingcod
Rebecca F.

What an awesome day on the water! Captain and deck hand awesome. Thank you Sean and River

My grandson with the lingcod he caught.

Such an amazing day!! Took my daughter and grandson, our first time ocean fishing. The captain and deck hands went above and beyond to make sure everyone on board had a great time. They were running the entire time helping everyone!!! We will definitely be booking again!!!!

Best crew and captain! They were so kind, patient (I forgot to sign up online and we misread the time we were supposed to be there ) and offered tips and were just so helpful and friendly. Super cool experience and a really good time. My first time fishing in the ocean did not disappoint!!

Great charter! The seas were too rough to catch fish, but the Telstar team filled limits of crab for everyone on the boat. I brought 5 scouts with me on the boat and the crew was great with the boys!

This was honestly the best charter I have ever been on! Not only did everyone on the boat catch lots of fish, but Captain Sean and his crew were more than what we could asked for! Don't waste your time looking elsewhere. These guys are the real deal, hilarious and just awesome! Great job you guys! My son will never forget this experience and we can't wait to be back!

Look at all of our salmon!

These guys are great! They really know what they are doing. Quite frankly, if you don't catch a fish, it's probably your fault. Work as a team with the rest of the people on the boat, help each other out and listen to what these guys tell you. We've gone out twice with them and had a ton of fun both times. We had to miss this year, but we will be back next summer. Make sure you tip the crew. They work their butts off!!

Super fun time fishing. Waters were a bit rough for a few of the family. Caught our limit and the fish has been delicious! Great family time

Great captain and crew. Knowledgeable about whales, and stayed out extra time to make sure everyone got some great views of the whales.

Always had a good time with this crew. Works to find the fish for you. The deep trips are fun but a workout for your arm

At the same time, they gave us our space to explore and just take in the beauty of the redwood forest. I do recommend dressing in layers as the morning half of the ride was cold and the return trip was warmer than expected. Bring gloves if you plan to be the driver because your hands will be exposed to the cold morning air due to controlling the speed of the electric assist controls. Make sure to use the bathroom before you leave. The only stop with a bathroom was at Camp Noyo, which is 12.5 miles from the start. It took my group of 3 rail bikes about 2 hours to get there. Don't be scared of the 25 miles because the electric assist made it an easy ride. I think we were able to pedal, with the assist on, for 90% of the trip. We used the full electric option for about 3-5 minutes total because we wanted to relax our legs. Overall, I recommend the experience, especially if you like being outdoors and surrounded by nature.

I've made the trip up to Fort Bragg several times over the last 10 years and had always seen the…read moreads and signs for the Skunk Train. With the full length of the tracks not currently open to Willits, it didn't seem worth it to partake in the shorter train rides. However, once I learned about the rail bikes, I was in! There are two options for the rail bikes. The shorter, two hour excursion is to Glen Briar from their downtown Fort Bragg Depot (the Pudding Creek route) is about 7 miles round trip. If you want a full day adventure, there's the Noyo route which is 25 miles and departs from Sherwood road and is noted as a more stenous excursion. Given I was short on time, I opted for the Pudding Creek route. However, I would definitely do the rail bikes again and try the Noyo route. For the Pudding Creek route, we arrived about 15 minutes before our 10 am departure time. There's a small lot for guests and a short walk over to where the bikes are. Instructions are easy to follow and the staff is amazingly helpful and thorough. With the motor assist, pedaling along the rails was rather mellow. At the end of the line, we stopped at a scenic pavilion in the redwoods and had the option of a short guided hike or to just chill and enjoy the picnic area. I had time to do both and it was a really enjoyable way to spend the morning. There's a basket on the front of each bike to store your backpacks and drink holders for your water bottles. Back at the depot, there's a cute gift shop and behind it, a model train exhibit that was pretty cool. I love a good kitschy attraction and this was a fun, touristy thing to do while visiting the area. I enjoyed it so much, that I do wish the route was longer (hence my hope to go back and do the longer Noyo trip.) Sure, it's pricey, but if you can swing the cost, come in with the right expectations and you'll have a fun day, while also learning a bit more about the area from your guides.

I attempted to make a reservation for the harbor tour with Captain Dan for my anniversary. When I called I reached a voicemail inbox and began to leave a message, but in the middle of it someone picked up - no greeting or other info, just a very brusque "hello?" Out of simple curiosity I asked if they ever do whale watching trips at other times of year, but was abruptly interrupted by the person shouting, "why doesn't anyone ever look at the website, we don't do that here!!" I was so taken aback that I apologized and hung up. The tour genuinely looks like it would be lovely and I was interested in what Captain Dan would be able to tell us about! But I'm not about to risk continuing to being treated so rudely on a special occasion.

Booking online was super easy, we were sent a confirmation email with a number to call to confirm our tour time. Since the availability of the tour in really dependent on the tide, we did call back a couple weeks ahead to confirm and pay for the tour. Kristin helped us though the process and made it really easy and painless. Captain Dan was super nice. I appreciate all the stories and knowledge he shared about the harbor, who does what in each boat, the surrounding properties, his time in Alaska, and more. Such great conversations. We got pretty lucky because there was a couple boats selling tuna and cleaning fish so there was a lot of sea lions and seals around waiting for fish. We were on an electric boat, so it was really quiet and didn't scare away the marine life and we were able to get up close. We got to see lots of beautiful birds, he had even told us which ones to watch because they dive down and catch fish. And we did see one catch a fish! It was so cool. Such an amazing experience we'd go again the next time we're out in the area. I definitely recommend!

We didn't have a hard time finding the place, but just as a heads up, someone stole the business sign so as soon as you turn on to the correct street it is the first ranch on the corner! We were quickly greeted by Russ and were pleased to find out that my friend and I were the only ones who made a reservation for the day so it made our first horse back riding experience that much better! Russ was informative and shared previous experiences from past riders to help us feel more at ease for our first time. You do have the option to wear a helmet. You can bring your own, use one of theirs or opt out. Regardless of choice you will have to sign a waiver. Once the waiver was complete we picked a helmet and a horse. I chose Walter my friend chose, Zez. Russ demonstrated how to properly get on and off the horses as well as how to halt and guide the horse while riding. This was so helpful to us! There is a stool to help you on and off the horse especially for shorties (like myself). We chose the ocean ride. To get there we crossed the road and went into the woods for a bit and took the same way back. Russ was patient with the both of us and helped to make this experience unforgettable. Walter was patient with me and I was so grateful to have gotten to ride him! Zez has a sassy personality of her own and fit very well with my friend lol! Once we got back to the ranch Russ and his son Andy introduced us to some of the other horses on the ranch as well as the ranch cat, Thor and the two ranch ravens. The whole experience was great. Thank you Russ helping us knock this off our bucket list!

Russian River Railbikes is part of the Golden Gate Railroad Museum, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to maintain, restore and run historically significant railroad equipment from the San Francisco Bay area. The guides are all volunteers from the Golden Gate Railroad Museum. The guides were friendly, helpful, and informative. You will get somewhat of a workout, although this is not strenuous. This is an activity that you can really do at any age and they are kid friendly. One of the guides stated that they have had someone in a car seat before (they have seat belts on them similar to a car) and a couple in their 80's has gone multiple times and they arrange ahead of time to have two guides on the railbike to help with pedaling. This truly is a great adventure for all ages! It's about 1 1/2 or two hours total and you will pass by a vineyard and farm. You will also go through a tunnel and stop half way where you will get out and stretch your legs. You can relax at a shaded table, dip your toes in the Russian River, or view a collapsed tunnel at this half way point. You will also have the option when you book this to purchase lunch ahead of time that you can enjoy at the half way point if you would like. It's recommended that you wear comfortable clothes, wear sunscreen, and bring any water and snacks with you on the railbike. We each brought a water bottle that came in very handy. You will have plenty of time afterwards to explore Cloverdale. An all around great experience that I highly recommend!
