Captain Dan is great with kids !

What a great little boat tour- on a great little boat- the Noyo Star. It is clean, quiet, and comfortable. Captain Dan was terrific with our restless toddler as he told us about the Noyo River, area history, wildlife, and even a few restaurant recommendations. We departed at 4:30pm, which was dependent on the tide charts- so call ahead to determine what times are available. The ramp down to the dock is pretty steep- so folks with limited mobility may have problems. You certainly want to wear shoes with a good grip.

Five stars for Dan and his tour! A last minute call, while we ate lunch in Noyo Harbor, and Dan had us on the water within an hour or so. He was patient with my not so thrilled three year old, when we boarded. And explained fishing, boats, etc... as he drove us though the river and harbor. He made sure my daughter got to see many sea lions on our tour too! Lastly, the boat is immaculate and rather toasty with the windows up. It was very relaxing!

Had a great time touring the harbor with Captain Dan today. An excellent way to celebrate Mother's Day. Thank you Captain Dan for your patience as these two river novices asked many questions. You made us feel right at home.

I had a fantastic time with a friend on this scenic tour with Dan! It's a very relaxing and comfortable ride in Dan's brand new and very clean boat. I had no idea what to expect going into this experience, but was pleasantly surprised by Dan's friendliness and knowledge of the harbor and boat world! What a fantastic way to drink a glass of wine and enjoy the views! Thanks Dan!

I let them know we could do Thursday or stay with Wednesday and was told they would get back to us early Tuesday. Well at 4:45pm on Tuesday we reached out and asked if we were on for Wednesday and was told it is a no go and they are still working on putting something together for Thursday. I get it Charters are in business to make money and just a few folks on an outing isn't profitable but to leave booked clients hanging until the 11th hour and not reach out to them is not good business. What gets me is we saw them leaving the harbor twice on Wednesday. We're assuming it was for Ash scattering based on the attire and somber faces of the passengers and the lack of visible fishing gear both times. Not a bad turn for them at $500-$600 per trip (if the rates I recall are still them same); less time, less work... Bottom line is they didn't have the courtesy to call/text us to let us know we should look for another charter, we had to reach out to find out... Too bad, we have quite a few buddies who love to fish and we'll continue to go with the charter that got us in last minute and put us on our limits...

Our experience using Mendocino Insider Tours for our wedding transportation was unfortunately…read morecompletely substandard. We had emphasized to our guests to be on time for their shuttle pick ups using the schedule provided to us by the company. One of the shuttles was EXTREMELY late for the pickups (between 30 and 45 minutes for some of them). They told the guests that the schedule didn't make sense to them and so they made their own schedule up. This led to a ton of confusion on the wedding day. Some of the guests had actually gotten into their cars to drive themselves because they didn't think anyone was coming by the time the shuttle showed up. One of our guests wanted to go home a little after 11 PM. A different (female) shuttle driver told him they only wanted to go back to his Airbnb one more time so our guest would have to wait until the rest of his party was ready to leave. He ended up waiting two hours later than he wanted. This is absolutely not what we had agreed. In our calls we had discussed multiple times that the shuttles would be running continuously from 10-2 AM to all destinations. All in all, the day was a complete mess from a transportation perspective and fell completely short of the services that we had agreed to and paid for. Before posting this review, I brought these events to the attention of the business owner who did not apologize for our experience and scapegoated his team.

Also, if you want to catch your own wild salmon, go make reservations to go fishing on The Fish Peddler's Charter, "Rumblefish." It is well worth the trip to go fishing here because up the street from the Fish Peddler is Perko's Restaurant and the Perko's Hotel located on the same property. So call Kevin or Michelle to book your reservations to go fishing on Rumblefish-$75.00 for half-day fishing (you can catch a lot of fish for a half-day O=:-D ) or if you do not have sea legs, just order your seafood of choice from the Fish Peddler. I am positive the Fish Peddler does aim to please all their customers, including my Mother!

This would have been a five-star review except for one thing; beers come with a head on them! Yelp…read morewon't let me give an extra half-star, so four it is. Being a craft beer aficionado, and living in Sonoma County - arguably Craft Beer Mecca - no respectable beer server put a head on a beer unless it's requested (some people claim to have a preference for a head on their beer, for various reasons), but North Coast has a policy of doing just that. At least that's what the bartender told me. An imperial pint glass holds 20 oz. A 3/4" head on that beer brings your 20 oz beer down to about 17-18 oz. Not horrible, but not what I paid for. To their credit, when I took my beer back to the bar (it had been dropped at our table by our server) and asked that it be filled to the top, it was. And the next one was delivered correctly filled. That's all the "bad". The good: I had the fish & chips, and the Beer Battered fish was some of the very best I've ever had! Fries were cooked perfectly as well. The fish was so good I was tempted not to put any lemon OR malt vinegar on it for fear of ruining such perfect fish, but in the end I added both and it just amped up the greatness. Overall, it was one of the best fish & chips meals I've had, flavor-wise. Portion was GOOD on the fish, not great, and there were lots of fries. The slaw is about as lackluster as any I've ever had. Some malt vinegar helped it, but couldn't really revive the bland mix. It was the fish that made it, great fries also made it better, bad slaw took off a point. My friend's cod sandwich was said to have been excellent as well. The beer was good, but not Russian River Brewing Company good. The highlight of the visit was the service. The bartender seemed surprised that I'd ask her to fill the beer, but did so without complaining, and remembered to do so on the second one. Our server, Abigail, was friendly and very efficient and helpful. Pleasant folks, those we interacted with. Excellent Fish & chips, excellent Cod Sandwich, two large beers each and a $20 tip brought the lunch total up to $100.29. Not cheap by any means, but I was happy with the experience.
