I'm happy to announce I had an absolute blast during the private tour. We got to ride these open vehicles that really made me feel we were in the safari. The tour guides were knowledgeable and fun! During the tour, they stop at the various animal sites and let you get out to see the animals while they share more about the animals and their history. For anyone seeking a very special unique experience on the California coast that is a hidden gem of beautiful animals and great people, visit B. Bryan Preserve. They care for some of the most beautiful African animals and have created an environment for preservation and fun education. They have at least 3 species of Zebra in addition to species of antelope and 4 of the most handsome giraffe, the tallest at over 18 feet tall. There are multiple tour options but the most immersive private tour will bring you face to face with zebra and giraffe....it is well worth it to have such a personal experience. It should be on your bucket list! On site are also the coziest cottages with incredible vintage design, very comfortable furnishings and a view of the giraffe paddock. We went outside to walk to downtown for breakfast (a very short walk, about 10 minutes) to find 3 of the giraffe munching away on some tall branches in the morning sun. Very cool. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, warm, kind and informative. They welcome all of your questions and address them with kindness and a wealth of knowledge. If you want to plan a special trip, B. Bryan Preserve is worth it. It will create lifelong memories while helping an incredibly organization that relies on guests to fund its mission. It's a win-win for everyone. We did the VIP tour and we are so glad we did this instead of the self guided tour. The animal keeper gave us tons of information about all the different animals, plus we got to be closer to the animals than if we were in our personal car. The best part of the Preserve is being able to feed the giraffes. This was by far the favorite and the highlight. If you are staying in Fort Bragg it is a trek with windy roads. read more

What an absolutely outstanding place to visit ! We were able to visit this hidden gem while driving along the California coast line ! All other hotels in the area cost the same amount , so we are always more than pleased to choose an option surrounded by giraffe, zebra , antelope and more ! You get your own cottage, private hottub , kitchen and more ! It's a very private experience too, feels very personal and overall a great way to get out of town for a bit ! We were so excited for this Safari tour with our children and grandchildren, but left extremely disappointed. Because our group couldn't fit in one vehicle, we arrived in two cars and had no idea parking was limited. Instead of being welcomed, we were met with hostility from a staff member named Judy. From the start, she was abrupt, dismissive, and rude, when we tried to compliment her accent and ask where she was from, she snapped that she didn't have time. Throughout the tour she rolled her eyes, barked orders, shouted at guests (including children), and scolded our driver Cassidy for trying to make the experience enjoyable. Cassidy was wonderful, kind, knowledgeable, and great with the kids, but even her efforts couldn't make up for Judy's negativity. No patron/ family should have to endure that. Unless there's changes in management that addresses Judy's behavior, removes her from being near the public, I cannot recommend this tour, especially for families with small children. read more

We had a really great time on the self-guided car safari. We showed up about 5 minutes early and they provided a map and some directions. Be sure to move over to allow other cars to pass as everyone shares the same road. There were so many different animals on the property. I loved that they had so many places to roam about. Feeding the giraffe was really fun. We were able to learn all about the preserve from the worker who was supervising the giraffe feeding. They are doing great work supervising and breeding these endagered animals. read more

Visited the B Bryan Preserve on our drive home from Mendocino. Made reservations prior for their 3:30pm tour. There isn't much to do in Point Arena so I would just recommend a quick stop here on your drive up/down the 1. We had such a great time. We were driven in jeeps and a blanket was provided to keep us warm in the car to share with others (it was SO cold, my feet were frozen after the tour). We were educated about the conservation of their animals. I learned a lot from this tour and applaud the preserve for making sure these endangered species are well taken care of. The most exciting part of the tour was the interaction with the giraffes. Everyone got a chance to feed them and kiss them even (which I did of course!!) When was I ever going to get that chance again?! Popped a sweet potato slice in my mouth and a giraffe quickly came slurping it with his long tongue! Did you know giraffe tongues are about 18-20 inches long and they are VERY clean (their tongues are antimicrobial) despite the purplish color which actually protects them from sunburn. My partner and I booked the "safari tour", which lasted for a little over 2 hours and absolutely loved it How this works ? 1. All visitors are divided into smaller groups of ~5-6 per vehicle. As a part of the tour, each vehicle makes 3-4 stops to visit Zebras, Antelopes and Giraffes. 2. The staff provides wonderful insights during each of the stops. You'll also get to interact closely with the giraffes and feed them as well during your visit. 3. All in all, the visit lasts for ~2 hours during which you'll have the opportunity to learn about critical conservation efforts as well as interact closely with these wonderful animals. Priced at 35$ per person for the safari tour, I'd recommend it over the self-guided tour (where you can't leave your vehicle). It's also worth calling out that this place is located to the "Bowling Ball" beach, a highly recommended tourist destination and so it might be worthwhile to plan both visits as a part of the same trip. read more

We stayed in the Carriage House and took the tour in the land rover the following day. As a couple others have mentioned, I am happy to support their efforts so I give some slack to the fact that they are first and foremost an animal sanctuary, not a Marriott. The tour was fun but pricey, my son got a kick out of the giraffe feeding and that the loud zebra Elvis. I consider the higher price a donation to the cause. The tour guides were knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. The carriage house needs some refinement however. It was reasonably clean, the main bed was comfortable, and my son had no issues with the twin in the nook. Full kitchen was good for saving some money by cooking in (great little market walking distance away). All that being said, entry to the unit needs a little bit more of "I care". We liked the two ATV type units that looked like they were being worked on but if the place is going to be rented then some appropriate direction would be helpful and what seems like the appropriate way to the hot tub leads past a room with garbage on the floor and general disarray. The grounds are nice and it would not take much to charm most of the guests with a little effort there. Overall, no regrets about staying there or taking the tour and I support what they are doing. I hope others continue to support them and that they can spend a little more effort on the carriage house. read more

My mom and I did the self-guided tour from our car and we had so much fun! The animals are beautiful, and they tell you to take your time. We were the last car, and one of the zebras came all the way up to the fence to say hi! It was incredible! At the end, we got to feed Mozzie the giraffe, who was not only stunning but so friendly! We can't review this experience as we were basically scared out of it and made extremely uncomfortable by the owner Judy's reaction to me having made the mistake of not completly understanding the pet policy. Below is the email I sent to the owners. I would like to apologize for briging my dog onto the preserve today. My understanding was that pets were not allowed on the tours. It was not my understanding that having my small dog leashed in the parking lot would be a problem. I also didn't observe any signage posted informing me otherwise. All this aside, what concerns me most is your approach to the whole situation. As a customer of your experience, I don't appreciate the aggressive nature to me having my pet on site. No hello, no welcome, just a verbal push backwards out of your facility into the parking lot. I think there is a more sensible approach to addressing customers regarding this issue or any issue for that matter. I was trying to get my animal back into the car, but needed the keys from my partner who was using the facilities. She was also accosted, by Judy coming out of the bathroom stating " you're with the man with the dog at the car" "Go take care of it". I've worked in customer service since I was 14 years old, and even on your worst day which we all have sometimes, you can't come at customers with it. I realize that protecting those animals is your first priority, but I can assure you I was not trying to get away with anything, and once I was aware of what I was doing wrong, I was trying to resolve the situation as quickly as I could. You're delivery was aggressive and unnecessary. I felt shamed. I'm not even mad, just hurt that I was made to feel so uncomfortable, as well as missing out on the opportunity to experience the amazing animals. I did revisit your website last night and read the no pet policy again. If you don't want pets on the property at all including the parking lot, then it should be a little more clear, especially since most families travel with their pets these days. read more

Got my NYE kiss from a giraffe! B Bryan Preserve is simply magical and such a unique experience. I stumbled across this gem while looking for things to do during our Sea Ranch weekend. B Bryan is located in Point Arena just 25 minutes north of Sea Ranch. We booked our tour online for $35 per person for an hour long tour. This price is literally a steal for what you get. You start in the barn where they have a small gift shop and a video playing about giraffes. They then give a brief overview of the history of the Preserve, the animals that are housed there, and some basic ground rules for the tour. Then you're loaded up into land rovers to start viewing. They only have two tours a day that are held during feeding times to help ensure you see the animals since their pastures are huge. At each animal's pasture we were able to get out of the cars, assemble around the fences and listen to the guide explain the differences in species we were looking at and answer any questions. Housed at B Bryan are zebras, giraffes, and antelope. We were lucky enough to see three species of zebras, two different antelope, and meet two giraffes. The highlight of the tour is definitely at the end when you get to feed the giraffes. Everyone is handed a pile of sweet potatoes and guided through the easy feeding process. If you're brave enough you can even put the sweet potato in your mouth and when the giraffe receives it you receive a nice slobbery kiss. read more

We enjoyed our ride in an open air vehicle and our guide Brooke was extremely knowledgeable. Our visit at the preserve was the highlight of our weekend!! It was fun, educational, and interactive. Feeing the giraffes was my favorite part, which they were super gentle. Surprisingly giraffe toughs feels weird, kind of like a cat. You got to see the other animals close up. Some of them at day were a little shy though so we observed from afar, but overall, we learned some pretty cool facts about the animals. Now for the COVID update- Masks in the entire time. We were seated in open trucks (see picture). There was a clear plastic in the middle of the truck (hanging from the roof and hanging down). I believe they sat the guests in the trucks by group. So only the same group sitting in the same row. Overall, I felt comfortable and safe. I recommend bringing sunglasses because when it was windy the dirt picked up and would get into your eyes frequently (they had dirt roads). Also recommend bringing your glasses if you can't see far away..... definitely found it useful (ha ha!). We tried the middle option for $35 each adult. The whole thing is about 1.5 hours. 100% recommend!!! read more

What a cool experience this was! If you arrive early, just walk into the barn. There is a little gift shop & cool knick knacks about. Have a seat in one of their chairs and watch the video on giraffes, it's very informational. Roll call is taken and the groups are split up. There were three range rovers on our tour. We were assigned the blue one with Zane as our driver. He said he had only been working there for 3 months, but I would've believed him if he said he had been there 10 years. He seemed to know so much about the animals and the park. He was an excellent tour guide! We had several stops and everyone gets out of the rovers and Zane spoke about the animals that they have there. A really cute black & white barn cat followed the vehicles around. He wanted attention too! My favorite part of the tour was at the end where we got to meet and feed one of the Giraffes. Up close and personal you really get a feel of how LARGE they really are. We were given yam slices and the giraffe would take it from our hands or our mouth. I stayed away from the mouth feeding (LOTS of slobber!) but lots of other people did it. $35 for an hour long tour. It was something different and unique. Plus supporting a great cause is always a good thing! I would highly recommend this tour! read more

This is the Giraffe manor of California! We loved every bit of our stay at the Bridge cottage. It was so magical to wake up and get to see the giraffes from the steps of the cottage. I will never get over that. We really felt like we were out in the wilderness. The cottage felt like an antigue and was decorated with many vintage pictures on the walls and pictures of the animals at the preserve! You could tell that everyone who works there really enjoys their job and it shows during their tours of the animals on the preserve. We just left and I'm already wanting to plan our next trip. We all loved it that much. My son couldn't stop talking about the giraffes and how he fed them. We also fell in love with their cat, Amis! He hung out with us a few times at the cottage. What a great little adventure right here in NorCal! We took the guided tour, where you climb in the back of a vintage Land Rover, they drive to each animal enclosure, you hop out and get to look at the animals right up close while the guides tell you all about them and answer any questions you can think of. As you can kind of see in the picture, the seating area in the Land Rover is not very big. Any adults will definitely have to hunch over because there's not sufficient headroom, and the limited leg/knee room meant you had to turn to the side. I was worried it would soon become unbearable, but it turned out fine, as you're only sitting for about 3 minutes at a time. Due to Covid, they put up a plastic barrier down the middle, between us and the other couple in our vehicle, and made sure we all wore masks the whole time and stayed distanced from other family groups (there were 3 groups total). It was an awesome tour, well worth the price, I only wish they had more types of animals to see! Being able to feed a GIRAFFE at the end was a once in a lifetime experience! I highly recommend B. Simply Amazing. We booked a Private VIP Tour for our visit and it was the best way to experience the preserve. It was just the 4 of us (VIP tour accommodates up to 8) riding in a very cool vintage Land Rover. We got up-close and personal with the animals, fenced inside their enclosures, and our guide, Sarah, was like an encyclopedia to everything related to the preserve and animals. She's professional, personable, and great with kids. The VIP tour lasted for about an hour and allowed us to go on our own pace, such as spending more time at certain stops if we had more questions. Final stop was feeding the giraffe and it was truly magical. Their commitment to conserve and support wildlife can truly be seen through how the guides interact with the animals. I visited the B Bryan Preserve last week and absolutely loved it. I have never been up close and personal with wildlife in the US. I have been near elephants in India, but never near animals like the Giraffe and Zebras and other African hoof stock. Hats off to the founders of the Preserve for their efforts to keep these endangered species in the environment that they are primed to be in.
