Great park! Fun, accessible playground. We came during the winter season so some things were closed - would def come back during better seasons to enjoy the carousel and petting zoo within steps of the playground, sandbox, and climbing station. Easy parking and restrooms available. Also within a few min drive of restaurants & shopping (ie Montgomery Center) and lodging (ie Flamingo Resort) so a convenient activity in between other plans.

I've been here before for the NAMI walk. I really explored this visit and was surprised at this truly magical park. It is excellent for families, great playground for kids. I'll have to bring my granddaughters. I enjoyed being a kid again by, riding the train, going through the petting barn and a spin in the carousel. Delightfully impressed with every park employee being so nice. Teenagers in the pet barn were especially easy to talk to, very personable and informative. The carousel was a little fast for me, but the kids loved it. Be sure to visit this GEM of a park. PS I went for a hike and added all the other stuff. I didn't want to leave.

This park has so much to offer! We stopped by for a quick picnic and was surprised to see all the different activities here. We ended up renting a paddle boat for 1 hr for $12, which I think is a great price and plenty of time to paddle around. There was a waitlist during the holiday weekend but you can walk around and explore while you wait for their call. Get the paddle bait with the shade if there's availability! There is an upper and lower lot for parking, both free. Did not have an issue finding a spot. Lots of picnic tables but they are a little dirty so bring something to cover the table or extra wipes. This park has a train ride, carousel, trails for walking or biking, tennis courts, playground area, a boathouse for rentals/fishing, and so much more. Good for all ages to visit!

Played pickle ball there then went for a nice walk around the lake. We really enjoyed seeing the wildlife there as well!

Born and raised in Sonoma County , I can tell you this is quite a gem of a park. Great place to come hang out with friends, BBQ, Canoe on the lake (where you can also fish here), bring your kids to play and, all in all, take in nature with its beautiful lakes, trails, and surroundings. I especially enjoy the multitude of trails available to walk, run, or bike. They have trails with asphalt and dirt/gravel, some uphills and downhills, lots of benches and shady areas. Restrooms are available throughout howarth park and spring lake area.

Now this is a PARK!! On the weekends, there is a carousel, little choo-choo train and boats for rent for the large pond there. Fun experiences for such little money! Bring your kids or the kid in yourself!! Tons of picnic areas available for reservations and they do get reserved! It's a sprawling park connected to another lake. Lots of paved walkways, lots of offroading bicycle trails and long horse trails. It's a good walk/bike mecca as it goes for a while and has lots of winding ways.

What a great park for kids, older and younger! Our kids are 3-12 so it's great to find a place that accommodates all of them. I'm impressed by the creativeness of this park and the different themed play areas. The entire park is an Old West theme, with a downtown area/pretend shops, tepees, railroad type play structure; it's really a lot of fun. I'm sad we didn't get to walk the trail, but I hear it's stroller accessible! There were a lot of happy dog owners strolling through the park as well. There is a carousel (closed, winter). There's a rock wall climbing area which is very cool! I walked the dirt trail around one of the lakes and the kids loved it!

Where can one go on the weekends for under $20 a person and experience a carousel ride, mini train ride and rent a canoe for 30 minutes! There is a snack shop near the rides. If not, the long trails, parking, bird watching, parking, playground and nature are FREE! A popular park to reserve large picnic areas. Some picnic tables and benches dot the expansive premises

    Beautiful views of the lake!

Definitely a gem of a park in this area! I feel like I spend so much time wine tasting and eating out here that I often neglect visiting this area for other reasons (such as hiking, recreation, and nature walks). Welp, this park definitely has all of that! From your easy to moderate hiking trails, to spacious grassy fields, to super relaxing rest benches that overlook the beautiful duck filled lake; Howarth Park seems to truly have something for everyone to enjoy. I actually ended up here by way of some friends. We had just finished a day of.... yep, you guessed it; WINE TASTING! Story of my life! We needed a place to unwind after all of that vino. Howarth Park was the perfect place for that. There's plenty of parking, lots of recreational space, and tons of picnic tables and benches all throughout the park. The views of Lake Ralphine are truly stunning. We saw lots of people on paddle boats and in canoes traversing the lake. Although there were quite a bit of people there, everyone seemed to maintain their distance. It was actually quite peaceful. The ducks swimming in the lake. The wind rustling through the trees. Just a very enjoyable place to truly relax. I didn't hike any of the trails, but I did see many of them in the distance. There are trails here that climb through ridges and small forests, and trust me; it's on my list of to-try hikes. There's also a nice walking trail that runs pretty parallel to the lake. Also saw a small pier/deck that looks like it may be used for fishing (can't confirm this though). It's really a wonderful little spot. If I were a local here, I'd def be hitting this spot up on a regular basis. I'm grateful that my friends exposed me to this beauty. Once I get over this wine tasting addiction (HA!), I'm hoping to come back here to explore those beautiful looking hiking trails.

I've never been to this park before and was pleasantly surprised with how large it was!! It wraps around a lake and there's a bunch of trails!! The only downside of this park and all their different types of playgrounds are the massive amounts of poison oak!!! Unless you stay on the concrete trails, the dirt trails that are made up have poison oak along both sides of them. I am highly allergic to poison oak so I kept in the middle of the concrete walkways. I love the old fashion playground with a pretend town that looked like the old country/western days! How nostalgic for these young technology-based children to see how the Western days were! Hee

Perfect for a five year old.

Ask the Community - Howarth Park

    Are dogs allowed?

I took my dogs when we went walking on the trail. I would be leery of smaller dogs or hairless dogs, anything off the trail is covered in poison oak!!

    Is there a bike trail?

There's a walk/bike trail, yes. It connects Howarth Park and goes around Spring Lake. Mostly paved.

We discovered it thanks to my dad's passion for trains, and it quickly became a favorite. The station is well-maintained and easy to navigate, with convenient parking nearby. While the café we visited isn't located inside the train station itself, it's close by and offers tasty, reasonably priced treats, perfect for taking a break and refueling. We were also able to buy Bring-A-Friend discounted tickets at Discovery Kingdom even though our home park is California's Great America. In comparison to California's Great America, I found the employees here much more pleasant and efficient in loading rides and doing safety checks. Waits for rides (included kiddie rides) didn't feel as long and it made a huge difference in our experience! My husband got the Fast Lane Ultimate and had a great experience squeezing in about 15 rides with no long waits. Mainly just needed to wait his turn as a car finished up. As for food, if you plan to stay a while and eat there, highly recommend the all day dining plan. The premium all day dining plan includes free refills (ICEEs included) and we totally got our money's worth within two meals! We shared food from two dining plans for five adults and a young toddler and were pretty full by the end of the day. There were plenty of tables with umbrellas for shade, so didn't have trouble finding a spot on a Thursday, but can see it being a problem when it's more crowded. Restrooms were very clean and plentiful. My husband and I accidentally forgot our diaper bag and thankfully, the shops had emergency diapers kits. Overall, very pleasant experience going on a non-peak day!

Between the batting cages, go-karts, and arcade games, there was never a shortage of things to do. My kids had so much fun that they never wanted to leave, and I loved seeing them enjoy themselves and burn off all that energy. These are the kinds of memories you cherish forever--watching your children grow up and celebrating special moments in a place that always delivered a great experience. To me, Scandia isn't just a family entertainment center; it's part of my family's story. A few of the machines were broken, so after the machine took our points with no play we approached the counter and were credited via the play card. There were racing games with cars and motorcycles, shooting simulators, street fighter/mortal combat style games, asteroids, pac man, air hockey and more. The Fast & Furious racing simulator is the best, power ups, nitro packs, the setup of the steering wheel and pedal felt real, the interface was super engaging. We waited about an hour just to get into the park around 11 a.m., and then another hour and a half for food later in the day. It was definitely crowded, but still manageable if you come prepared. My biggest tip is to arrive as early as possible if you want a good shaded spot with chairs. Those fill up fast! I'd also recommend bringing a blanket, a small pop-up tent or portable umbrella for extra shade, a waterproof phone case, and plenty of towels. Those little things can make a huge difference on a hot day. Keep in mind that outside food isn't allowed, but if you're trying to save money, you can always keep a cooler or lunch in your car and head out for a break before coming back in (if your admission allows re-entry). Also, don't expect a giant dessert--the funnel cake was much smaller than we expected, which was a little disappointing. Parking is another expense to plan for. It was around $30-$35, although it's free if you have a Gold Pass, which is a nice perk. Despite the crowds and long waits, the water attractions kept the kids smiling all day, and that's what made the trip worth it. We'll definitely be back--next time we'll just get there much earlier and be better prepared for the weekend crowds!

Disappointing experience, especially for the price…read more We visited Hurricane Harbor Concord on 8/9/26 and unfortunately left very disappointed, especially considering how much we spent. We paid $300 to rent a cabana, and no one ever checked our reservation or checked us in. We asked an employee how we were supposed to check in, and they didn't know. At no point did anyone verify that we had actually rented the cabana, which made us wonder why we paid $300 when it appeared we could have simply walked in and sat down. The cabana itself had tired, worn furniture and offered no additional service or amenities that we could see. Essentially, we paid $300 for a place in the shade. We also purchased the $20 unlimited-refill drink cup, but within a few hours the refill station had run out of ice, so the soda was warm. When we asked whether there were other refill locations, staff couldn't tell us. Even the water bottle filling stations ran out of water about halfway through the day, which was especially frustrating at a water park on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, the lack of helpful customer service was a theme throughout the day. Several employees seemed either poorly informed or uninterested in helping. When I asked the employee stationed outside the regular swimming pool whether it was open, she simply shook her head "no"--no explanation, greeting, or even a smile. Most of our interactions with staff felt unfriendly and dismissive. The ride operations were also frustrating. While waiting for Tornado, we realized there appeared to be only four four-person rafts in circulation, despite a line with hundreds of people waiting. It was incredibly inefficient and made the wait unnecessarily long. The rental tubes for the lazy river also ran out before the day was even halfway over. We expected crowds and lines at a water park on a summer weekend. What we didn't expect was a shortage of ride equipment, rental tubes, ice and even drinking water, combined with staff who often couldn't answer basic questions. For the amount of money a family can easily spend here in one day--especially after paying an additional $300 for a cabana--the overall experience simply did not feel worth the cost. Hurricane Harbor could be a really fun park, but the operations and customer service need significant improvement.

After we got our tickets, we went up the escalators to the second floor and walked inside. There was no wait. We sat in the top row, and we could see the edge of the screen. If you have the option, I would recommend choosing the bottom row. Note, if you're super, super afraid of heights, this may not be for you. The guard rails go away and the platform slightly lowers during the ride. I'm afraid of heights but this was nothing for me. However, my two aunts told me they were gripping the handles tightly the entire time. The experience was really short, about 5 minutes or so. For the price, video quality, and duration, I wouldn't pay to do this again. Definitely not worth the $14 per person.

The walkway towards one entry of the dog park was flooded through during my visit, but there's another entry after crossing a bridge. I loved that the dog park was filled with tanbark so the dogs doesn't get muddy. There wasn't any benches, but there were several mismatched lawn chairs for people to sit. Half the dog park was shaded by trees and the other half was nice and sunny. The fall atmosphere was really pleasant.

But that place was closed on this particular Saturday. As we walked through the park, there was a lot of overgrown grass and weeds, but my puppies liked all the smells! As we walked further back towards the dog park area, there was a great little pond and a little waterfall that sounded whimsical and beautiful except I noticed it was all runoff water! Lol I'm not too sure what that does within the sewer system or maybe it was a clean drain pipe, but it looked a little off to me or dirty? Lol. Nevertheless, my dogs like the area and when we got to the dog park, there were three different entrances. I didn't realize that at the time, and we walked in the entrance closest to us once we crossed the bridge. That was covered with hay, which sadly I'm allergic to, and my throat was closing as we walked towards the back where the Half of the dog park was closed due to mud. Guessing they put hay over the entrance by the front because it was muddy, but goodness! My dogs like the area and they're paused. Did get a little muddy, but they didn't really find any friends although there were a number of different dogs there and cute little community circles! People seem to know each other since this park is in a local neighborhood and I'm sure they walked from the neighborhood. Not sure if we'll go back to this dog park. Maybe when it's not raining, so I don't die from the hay. Lol.
