Their plates are like tapas style, each piece is unique, and not oversized. Tagliatelle with Foie Gras Meatballs is our favorite. Just when you thought you were full, and debating... we ordered the mocha mousse, OMG, you would regret if I you didn't. It's so smooth and delightful. Ambiance is dark and trendy. Haven't been here since probably 2019. I loved coming here because of the crab salad and figured I'd come back again for it. This time around it wasn't as good as I remembered. The portion was definitely smaller than what they used to give and it wasn't as crisp and fresh. It still had good flavor but the leafy greens were more softer and a bit wilted. I loved loved loved the cauliflower fritters that I could eat a whole bucket! Drinks were really tasty! We decided to share the pasta dish and that was really good ! I do enjoy that they still offer complimentary olives and sweet and spicy nuts. My fiancé is allergic so I ate them and gave him the olives. We did not have a reservation but we're able to get seated upstairs at the bar which is my go to. It started getting more packed after 6pm. The ambiance was a hit and miss as o felt the music was having a bit of a personality battle. We would go from classical music to techno robotic music to rap to softer music and just didn't know what the vibe was for the night. We were sat upstairs by the window which I thought had a really cool ambiance. We ordered the 112 Beef Tartare (not pictured- unfortunately phone did not eat first in this case) it was one of my favorite tartares I have ever had. I ordered the Nori Encrusted Bavette and it was cooked perfect medium rare and the ponzu sauce was delicious. My husband ordered the Tagliatelle and was also very impressed. I came here for a work dinner and there were 11 of us total. 112 Eatery did a great job of accommodating us by seating us in a private room, and allowing us to pre-order wine and appetizers. Our server was very attentive and never left a wine glass empty. All of our appetizers, entrées, and desserts were fabulous! Everything was very flavorful. For appetizers, you'll definitely want to get the country love with whipped butter- fresh bread with really good salted butter, what could be better?! For my entree I ordered the Nori Encrusted Sirloin with Ponzu. The char on the steak was perfection! My favorite side was the Pan-roasted salsify with lobster velouté. It wasn't at all what I was expecting, but the cream sauce over the root vegetable was so tasty! Don't skip dessert and definitely order the Tres leches cake. Unfortunately we had a disappointing experience here. The food ranged from just okay to really bad, the servers were all very busy and running around but also forgot about us a few times and slow service. The vibe from service was hurried, chaotic, and anxious. It felt inefficient to have so many wait staff running around to the same tables. They were walking really fast and bumping into each other a lot, covering the same ground - seemed like there were more efficient ways to plan service, even in a small space. Even before the bad food, we commented on how we could feel the stress from the staff. We were seated in an awkward spot between the elevator and where the kitchen entrance was (we had to move our table to stop getting bumped by each hurried anxious server running past). The food was unfortunately not good across the board. Appetizers: Octopus: was burnt on the outside, really dry. Only redeeming quality was the avocado sauce (small amount). Blue Prawns: fried, tasted like bar food - the breading was very basic and had a bad aftertaste, like the oil was old. Mains: Halibut: was so dry that it was almost inedible - we didn't finish it and the wait staff threw it away. Only redeeming quality was the lemon made it taste slightly better... but it was really really bad even with the lemon. Tagliatelle with Foie Grad Meatballs: the pasta was really dry, and the meatballs were just okay. Maybe a swig of olive oil would have helped, or extra pasta water or a bit of cream. This was the second best dish we had, unfortunately. The best dish - the only dish that we enjoyed - was the olives and nut mix at the start of the meal. The cocktails were nothing special, just okay. Our servers were kind and offering to comp us dessert for the long waits - specifically for when they forgot a drink entirely. This was kind. The desserts were okay. Unfortunately they missed the fact that we were celebrating both of our birthdays from the reservations, but we were ready to get out of there anyway. We were looking forward to it, and were surprised to have such a disappointing experience after reading so many positive reviews! We think there are lots of places in the twin cities offering better food and better service. read more

Been wanting to try this place for awhile and decided to go for a birthday celebration. It was quite busy for a Thursday night dining so make sure you make a reservation. The atmosphere is casual, small, with a bar. They have 2 floors. The entrance is a bit not obvious lol. You walk in and there is no reception area but just stand next to the bar and someone will come greet you. For a $$$ restaurant, it definitely gave a different vibe. We were seated on the second floor where you have to go out and take the elevator upstairs. Enjoyed some complimentary almonds while our main dishes came out. Started with the recommended Khinkali dumpling. For $12, I'm not sure if it's worth it. You get 1 dumpling. The inside tasted like ground beef for taco lol. Basically to me it tasted like an overpriced beef taco dumpling. So not really recommended. 2/5 Tagliatelle with Foie Gras Meatballs: at first I thought just another meatball pasta dish. Wrong. The foie gras meatballs were soft and delicious. Can definitely taste the foie gras and the tagliatelle really went well with it. Favorite fish for the night. 5/5 Steak: fusion like sushi flavor. An interesting taste but it was good and soft. 4/5 Cauliflower fritter: soft batter on the outside. An interesting taste as well. I think it's an ok dish. 3/5. Overall it was a good experience. I've been a 112 eatery fan for about 13 years, give or take. I only have two complaints. 1. The menu hasn't changed much in this long time span... then again, why fix it if isn't broken? 2. Parking (downtown street parking) is a bummer. It is what it is. Otherwise? 112 eatery remains one of my favorite steadfast and true fine dining restaurants in the twin cities. Most recently, we went for my little brother's birthday. As always, the service was phenomenal. You barely have to wait at all before food starts appearing in front of you. The atmosphere is romantic, with dim lighting, candles, etc., well, it wasn't romantic for us but you get the idea! My FAVORITE things to order: -Sweet Burrata Toast w/Walnut Pesto ($19): Bear in mind this dish is true to it's name: it is a bit sweet, but I think the saltiness of the pesto works perfectly with it. There's almost a bit of an orange marmalad-y flavor. That might sound a bit weird, but it's actually super yummy. And it's easily big enough for four people to share. -Lamb Scottadito w/Goat's Milk Yogurt ($19): We've been getting this one since the beginning! The meat is always cooked perfectly. I just wish they gave you more yogurt, haha. It comes with three pieces, but you can request a fourth. -Tagliatelle w/Foie Gras Meatballs ($29): The meatballs in the dish are so good they should be illegal. We LOVE them. This is another dish that we order 100% of the time. -Scallops w/Oyster Mushrooms ($31): We didn't get this last night since it only comes with two scallops (a bit of a crime), but it is definitely a winner and we often order it. The mushrooms are out of this world. -Blue Prawns w/Rooster Mayo ($21): Very good and I never regret getting them. That being said, if you skip any dishes on this list, I'd recommend it be this one. -Steak Tartare ($23): Got this for the first time last night and was surprised that I loved it. Definitely will order again! -Tres Leches ($13): If you eat one thing at 112 eatery -- and I'm not kidding -- let it be this cake. It was the FIRST tres leaches I ever had, and even all these years later, it remains the BEST one I've ever had. Creamy, delicious, big enough to share, with the best whipped frosting (kind of like marshmallow fluff), and topped with a piece of white chocolate... divine. I DO NOT ORDER: -Khinkali Dumpling ($12): I lived in the republic of Georgia for a month and LOVE khinkali... but these? They are not those. Not authentic at all... Sorry! -Pasteis de nata: These weren't bad, but if you've had these tarts in Portugal, 112's attempt will disappoint you. Chewy when they should be flaky. Must try: Khinkali Dumpling and Gnocchi with Lobster! Why: The baseball sized dumpling was big and shareable. Meaty inside full of flavor topped with dill for additional flavor. That white sauce went well, and after cutting the dumpling in half to share with my friend, we covered the meaty inside with the sauce. I really enjoyed the Gnocchi Lobster with the red Arrabbiata Sauce. Each bite melted in my mouth. I washed everything down with my a refreshing False Pattern Pale Ale. Notes: The bartender was awesome! We sat at the bar corner and he was super helpful providing his recommendations. He was friendly and chatted with us. He did forget to submit our dumpling order, and our entree came first so he gave us the dumpling on the house - great service! The hostess was also friendly. The restaurant was clean. The bathroom clean and spacious, and was fun walking through the kitchen to get to. Overall, superb dining experience! There were 7 of us, we had a variety of dishes and everything was perfection. Every ingredient could be tasted and the each dish is handled with care and perfection. I had the lobster gnocchi (pillowy, great chunks of meat, and crusty bread) and the others had the prosciutto halibut. We were able to grab last minute reservations for an early dinner and were pleasantly surprised by our whole experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was quaint with 2 floors of seating and the service was impeccable. There wasn't a time that we waited more than 2 minutes for our waiter to check back in on us which we appreciated so much. We ordered the 112 steak tartare, the lamb meatball tagliatelle, and the pastales for dessert. Everything we ate was delicious with the bill ended up being pretty reasonable for such a fabulous time. Ambiance was nice. Food was so mid. My friends halibut was over cooked but the mash was nice and smooth - well seasoned. My tuna tartare - it took some breaking apart and investigating, but the tuna was well mixed the sauce they had on it was good, but the bread it was served on was somehow both burnt and over salted... It was extremely overpowering and unpleasant. The scallops were like 10 seconds undercooked and the mushrooms were tasty, but overall the dish was missing some acid to help balance it. What was frustrating to both me and my guest was the waiter was rushing us the whole time... we're not even finished with our meal and he was trying to rush us out the door and offering to box food. He came back twice, I was still eating both times. Then we said we were gonna take a few minutes to finish our cocktails and instead of offering us dessert or another drink he brings our bill. Mind you there are plenty of tables and a full bar open so it wasn't like they were waiting to get other people in and it was well before closing and we had been there less than an hour so I have no idea what the rush was. The food, the service, the drinks, the atmosphere...all top notch. Started off with cocktails, which were recommended by our server. Moved on to the menu right after and selected a bunch of plates to share. Steak tartar, octopus, the burger, tje halibut, and the gnocchi. All of these dishes were splendid! We had a lovely experience here the other evening! We had came from a distillery that had less than satisfactory food options so we were excited to have some snacks that felt upscale and delicious and this more than satisfied. I wish I had caught our servers name but we had a server who was woman presenting with light hair who gave us great service and was very friendly throughout! We had a great booth spot in the bar area and thought the place was beautifully decorated. Volume was a bit loud because it was full but we didn't mind at all. They have great mocktail and cocktail options. My partner got a boozy drink and enjoyed it and because I was driving I got the envy me mocktail which had a great little zip of spice, I would definitely get it again, very fresh tasting and beautiful as well! They had a great variety of appetizers and mains available and we ended up getting a pasta with foie gras meatballs that was beautiful! We had an appetizer we enjoyed but the real star for us was the butterscotch budino for dessert which we paired with one of their recommended dessert liquors. Dessert was so amazing that we will definitely be coming back to try more! We spent around $100+ for the evening but it was well worth it for a nice date night. I went back to 112 Eatery over the weekend and the food quality held up to my last visit. I still think the stringozzi with lamb sugo is one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. My husband and I also tried the octopus which was fantastic - it was perfectly cooked and lightened up with the avocado purée and herbs. I highly recommend this dish! We also tried the sweet and sour crab salad and shrimp with rooster mayo, and they were both good. We agreed the crab salad needed some fat to cut through the zip of the dressing, but still very tasty. The restaurant itself was very busy with lots of diners and staff. The rooms were dimly lit and the decor was nice. Where this visit lacked was service. I will preface this by saying we were 5 minutes late to our reservation which is annoying, especially during peak weekend hours. The hostess was very kind, but our server was rude. We were rushed through the service unnecessarily. A few times he tried to clear plates that had food on them and glasses with wine still in them. There were open tables, so we didn't think this was necessary. Additionally, when we asked how he recommended we split out the dishes between two of us, he offered no help and walked away. A solid spot for dinner! Make sure to make reservations even on a weekday cause this place gets packed. For starters, they give you this really good complimentary roasted pecans that's perfect as you munch away while reading the menu. My fave was the 112 beef tartare. The difference between this and the regular beef tartare that's listed on the menu is that this one is already "ready to eat" meaning you can just grab and spread. The other version on the menu apparently requires a bit more work since it's deconstructed but we opted for what sounded like the easier option with the 112. The stringozzi tastes like spaghetti with a thicker type of noodle. The scallops were alright but the mushrooms its came with got a little too salty for me towards the end. Was so excited to try this place! Had been closed for awhile during and after COVID but hadn't had chance to go just yet. We made a reservation a week or so out and had no troubles. Highly recommend a reservation and being on time! When we checked in a lady ahead of us was 25 mins late and they gave the reservation away, which I totally agree with. We got seated in the upstairs area which is small, intimate and cute. There's music playing but it's still quite noisy, however, not too noisy to be enjoyable. Service was slow to start and our drinks took forever which was part reason for my four star review. Food was quick though which I appreciated! Food ratings: -Burrata with walnut pesto: 10/10 - this was hands down my favorite of the evening. There's an orange marmalade on it so it's sweet, salty and savory. It's a lot on the bread and was a little heavy so just warning but it was immaculate! -Khinkali dumpling (spelling?): 8/10 - this surprised me with the meaty red inside. I thought it was going to be more creamy, cheesy like the outside but exact opposite. It had great mixes of flavor but thought it was just good -Parmesan Gnocchi: 8/10 - this was good but I was left wanting more. Super light, yet heavy dish being gnocchi but sauce is a brown butter with heavy parm. Being 112 is a sister restaurant to bar la grassa I was curious to see how this compared to their cauliflower orange gnocchi. After trying both, that still holds the trophy for me. -Bavette steak with ponzu: 6/10 - I really was not a fan of this dish. Meat was super super rare and almost undercooked to the point of ground beef. Was a little spicy but also salty and just struggled to eat the meat with it so raw -Stringozzi with lamb sugo: 10/10 - yum!!!! This dish was perfect. Pasta couldn't have been done better, light red sauce with the right balance of lamb chunks to pasta. This was my second favorite! Good portion size for dinner too. Menu: I get that it's cool and hipster and upscale etc - but just a one line menu item with no explanation is silly. Even if in small letters under it says " Italian noodles * lamb in sauce" If it had done that way - I would have known that the cheese plate was just a blob of Brie? with burnt toast. If I hadn't just eaten walleye and potatoes for lunch, I would have gotten the halibut. It looked good and my friend devoured hers. I sort of wish I'd tried the nori crusted beef. Mango mole marg and Spring Scotch cocktails were both tasty. Server was great. Only con was that it was really really loud when we first arrived at 7pm. This place was magical! If you plan on coming here, you should definitely make a reservation beforehand because it will fill up fast once they open. Sweet Burrata Toast w/ Walnut Pesto: the bread was toasted and had a really good crunch to it. The pesto was light and tasty, I enjoyed the fact that the pesto didn't have a strong taste of basil, which allowed other flavors to shine. The mozzarella was very light and melted in my mouth. The best part of this dish was the orange marmalade, the subtle sweetness from it came through and enhanced the other ingredients in this dish. 112 Steak Tartare: this is a must get. If you're not open to trying raw meat, you're definitely missing out. This dish was creamy, smokey, and fresh. The bread was well toasted and created a beautiful base for the meat to sit on. The fried onion added beautiful flavors and a slight crunch to the meat once mixed. This is a MUST get! Tagliatelle w/ Foie Gras Meatballs: the tagliatelle was well cooked and has a nice soft chew. The sauce had a nice subtle meat flavor to it. As for the Foie Gras Meatballs, it was very soft and melted in my mouth. Overall, this dish was delicious and everything was well balanced. My only complaint is that the noodles underneath kind of clumped together, maybe if I had more butter or oil that would've prevented that from happening. The meatballs were delicious and soft, but I know they could've done more with the flavor profile of the overall dish. It was a good experience but I don't know if I'd get it again. Mole Mango Marg: was really good. I love that it wasn't too sweet, and the mole bitters made it memorable. It was simple and yet complex at the same time, while being different than your typical mango marg. As for atmosphere, it was very cozy and romantic. I love the decoration of the entire place, very simple but very well decorated at the same time. Maren was a phenomenal server.
