My favorite place to belly up at the bar, grab a smoked Manhattan and a bite, It's been my local spot for years!

We went during half off time. We ordered 5 steaks, some appetizers and whiskey so not everything are half off. From 5 steaks that we ordered (we all requested medium rare), none of them come out the same way; same got their steak rare, medium, etc. For establishment that are offering steak only during half off, that's unacceptable. read more

Ok I understand the under 4 stars now. Service was non existent. When you have to ask twice multiple times for everything, that's a problem. Recommended two items on the menu and then guess what they are out. How are you out of beer can chicken at 4:00 and that's your big recommendation? I'm only giving 3 stars because the food is actually decent. But the service is about 2 stars. The first time we went, the service was horrible. The server didn't even come to us for over 15 minutes and he would often disappear throughout the meal. We were there for 2 hours just waiting for our check at the end of the night. We recently went again because we were impressed by the food. The service was good at first but disappeared towards the end. We waited for 20 minutes on just lids for our sauces and ended up leaving without them since no one checked on us. You would think someone would stop by for a quick check in when seeing we were sitting there for so long. Nope. They kept avoiding us. A friend loves this place cause steaks are half off after 9 I think, so we went. It was my first time, very cool looking bar and nice patio. Walked in and got seated immediately, it wasnt very busy. Staff was super friendly but the service was pretty slow. Ordered a couple drinks, wings and a steak. Everything took a little while to come out, especially the food. When it finally did come out, I did enjoy everything I had. My date said her steak was cooked a little too long but it wasnt terrible. We also waited a while to actually get our check. Gorgeous venue - handsome inside vibes, and fun patio area with heaters available to extend the patio season. Food and drinks are great. I would definitely stop in again if I'm in the area. Here's what I tried: Duck Wontons (5/5) loved the crispy wonton wrappers and the delicious sauce, only came with 3 wontons, but were very filling. Steak Bites (5/5) delicious! A few pieces had too much pepper, but I loved the crispy onion strings and spices in the steak. Brisket Smokehouse Nachos (4/5) Pretty in Pink Cocktail (5/5) sweet and refreshing, served with a pretty orchid Mule Cocktail (4/5) good flavor. I liked the slice of kiwi that accompanied the mint leaves Aperol Spritz (5/5) perfect summer drink Smoked Manhattan (4/5) fun presentation in a smoke box, but not sure it's worth the $22 price tag. Fun to try it once. Service was just hit or miss. The bartender inside was excellent. I met up with a friend for her birthday. This place was nice, dark, intimate, huge wall of whiskeys. They have a book of whiskey as part of the menu on every table. Bbq and smoke house type of food. The beer can chicken is what caught my attention. It's good and juicy. Ribs were flavored and moist. Service was great, my server answered every question we had and was attentive. Limited to a Sunday brunch, the food was excellent, the ambiance about right for the steak-and-whiskey theme, and the table service was adequate. As a former member of Team Whiskey (it was time to cut back), I found the Wall of Whiskey at WI simply stunning. I gawked at it like Sam Neill first seeing a T-Rex in Jurassic Park. The array of bourbon and scotch and Irish whiskeys is awesome. Worth the trip. Didn't spot any rarities (Pappy, Weller, etc) but the quantity of deep cuts among the Islays was impressive. For brunch, the Avocado Toast and Cheesy Hashbrowns were excellent. I do plan to head back to WI for a thick steak, the only way to truly judge this place. We also enjoyed the friendly, if somewhat leisurely, service. Docked one-half star for the coffee, which, while fairly tasty, came to us very slowly, and one cup at a time. But WI is not a diner, so I understand coffee is not their thing. Still, this is an excellent eatery and one worth supporting when anywhere near Savage. read more

The unique menu at Whiskey Inferno caught my eye on a day when I had no idea what I felt like eating and I'm glad it did! First up was the Charred Vidalia Onion French Onion soup boasting charred Vidalia onions. The soup was good, lots of gooey Swiss cheese melted on top but I was hard pressed to find onions! Lots of bread from the sourdough croutons, but it should have been chock full of onions and it was not. I even chased around trying to find onions to see if grilling made a difference, so that was disappointing and knocked off a star. Next I tried the Grilled Walleye Sandwich. A nicely grilled filet was served on a toasted baguette and was a sloppy, delicious mess. Because it had time from the restaurant to my house to soak in the lettuce/tomato/mayo, I wasn't able to pick it up. I cut a bite and liked it but gave up on the soggy bread and focused on the walleye. It was nicely cooked, had a few stray bones, but very flavorful. I dipped my fork into the tartar sauce accompaniment but it tasted like straight mayo. Not a fan. I should mention the fries, also soggy from the trip to my house, were a huge portion and they tasted good. Finally a side of Balsamic Roasted Zucchini and mushrooms was very good. I love roasted veg (I'm roasting whole carrots tomorrow) and these were nice. I'll definitely revisit Whiskey Inferno. I'm hoping they find more onions, lol. read more

My wife and I decided to do takeout from here as most of the time we enjoy their food. Knowing it was Valentine's Day we figured that it would a longer wait time too. Well it wasn't, their website said 15 mins and it was ready when I got there. The host asked me my name and brought my order out. When I got home it was still very warm I live about 10 minutes away.y wife got the brisket burger with fries. I got the ribs and brisket combo with Mac and cheese. My wife said the fries were still crispy and the burger was good but needed just a little more bbq sauce on it. My brisket was moist and the ribs were great without any sauce and had just enough of a tug that they didn't completely pull off the bone. The one bad thing was they forgot my Mac and cheese. I called and Zach was very apologetic and gave me credit of a side off my bill. Which I appreciated. We also got an order cornbread. It was really good and the butter they serve with it compliments it very well. The only other minor thing was I wish the website had some better descriptions and pictures of their food. read more

We got there on a Friday evening and the place was dead. TV's were not on and no music. It felt like we were walking into a library. The menu looked decent and had some good choices. However when our food came out, it was lukewarm. Nothing was hot. I'm seeing that is the case with a lot of people. Why is that? Shouldn't the food be hot and fresh? This may have been the worst meal I've ever had. My wife and I showed up at about 6pm on a Sunday, there were maybe 3 tables with people seated, a far cry from busy. I ordered a brisket sandwich, fries and a side of Cole slaw. My wife ordered a meat plate with ribs and brisket, with a side of their Mac n cheese. Despite having ample time and no rush to get the food out fast, my food had an identify crisis of temperature. My sandwich barely reached room temperature, and the slice of cheese on it hadn't even begun to melt. The meat was cold and dry. My fries managed to be at the right temperature, but still somehow were limp, soggy and not fully cooked. I nearly choked on the bite of my wife's brisket, which had the temperature and texture of shoe leather. Her ribs were some new cut of char and heel. Both meats were also cool, slightly above room temp. The meat in the ribs was so tough that they caused toothaches. The mashed potatoes were a single ice cream scoop of cold mash. I am thankful to say that the Mac n cheese was excellent, but $8 for a single scoop is a stretch. The cornbread that came as a side was also very good, but neither could save the meal. The ambiance was also nice, but didn't improve the quality of the food whatsoever. We spent nearly $100 for food that lacked seasoning, heat, and portions. I took my leftovers mostly out not wanting to explain to the waiter why I didn't eat more than half of my plate. Perhaps air frying my food will save it. In either case, if you are looking for a meal that you will need to finish seasoning and cooking at home, this is the place to be. For anyone else looking for hot, fresh or flavorful bbq, look elsewhere. This is a prime example of a zero star experience. read more

Went here on a Thursday at 7:30. Had a dude playing guitar and singin' tunes. It was a bit too loud as the place was kind of empty (not enough bodies to buffer the sound) Other than that the place is great. Nice ambiance. Friendly, speedy wait staff. Very good food and a fantastic selection of whiskies. Wine and beer selection, less so but perfectly acceptable. It's pricey but well worth putting it into your dining out rotation. read more

Whiskey Inferno is a nice option for non-chain restaurant dining in Savage. My husband and I usually go for a few cocktails and an app as the entrees are a bit overpriced. That said, their cocktails are SO good and they mix up their cocktail menu. It's got a fun ambiance/atmosphere and the decor makes it feel a little edgy. It gets pretty crowded on weekend evenings so prepare to wait a bit. Plenty of parking though. Whiskey Inferno is a great spot for a date night or to meet up with friends! read more

We were so excited to try this spot, but it didn't quite live up to our expectations. Originally, we were going to visit Saturday afternoon but noticed their 1/2 off Steaks and Whisky after 9pm on weekdays, so we went right around 9pm on a Friday. It wasn't particularly busy, even with this stellar promotion. The whisky list was WILD! 7 pages?! Talk about overwhelming, but in a good way. When we tried to order our whisky, we were advised our preferred options were (or likely were) unavailable. Ultimately, we were able to find a couple we were interested in, and at the 1/2 off price - they were certainly worthwhile. The Brisket Artichoke dip was tasty, however not particularly flavorful. We enjoyed it, but it wasn't what we expected it to be. The steaks were sufficient, but not the most tender -- they didn't have the marbling you come to expect with a ribeye. One came out under cooked and they were prompt to cook it to our preference. The bleu cheese topper was a nice complementary flavor to the steak. The chosen sides were alright, but nothing to run back for. Honestly, the mashed potatoes were the star of the show. They were creamy and garlicky - we couldn't get enough of them! Part of a group of restaurants from the same owners all in the south metro, Whiskey Inferno is my go to local place for late night 1/2 off steaks entrees & 1/2 all their whiskey menu offerings (4-5 pages worth) daily starting at 9pm. That means their steaks are discounted down from $37-40 to like $18-20 including two sides. Ribeye (14oz) and NY strip (12oz) are the value options. I usually ask to substitute the mashed potatoes (while still good) to any of the sides on the menu. All sides are actually very good including the artisan glazed carrots, sautéed green beans, baked beans with beef brisket, sweet potato fries, or onion rings (slight up-charge for onion rings but very tasty). Have had the nachos (huge), chicken wings, crab cakes, popovers, beer can chicken - good but not why I come here. Patrons can also rent liquor locker on site for their own liquor to consume when they come to dine. read more

We decided to celebrate a birthday at WI. We had large party that ordered a wide variety of apps and entrees. The salads were either over dressed or underdressed. The brisket was a stringy mess out of the freezer- clearly was not freshly made. The waitress filled our water glasses as we were paying the bill. The birthday boy was charged for the birthday dessert. What a bummer of an event all around. The prices are not bad - but I guess you get what you pay for. It was extremely busy so would definitely recommend getting a reservation ahead of time. We were sat on the opposite side of the bar and it was a snug and cozy feeling with the bookshelves near us! Literally everything we had was incredible - the drinks, the food, the service. We're already planning our return visit! Honestly, I would have liked to give this restaurant less than 1 star. I came in on a Friday afternoon at 2pm. Before I start, keep in mind I am a 28 year old African American. Should not have to be said, but it does here. I sat for a few minutes before I was greeted by a blonde woman who served me a water and proceeded to venture off for the next 10-15 minutes. There was another server who was a brunette who I made direct eye contact with who did not say anything to me or offer any service as well. I finally received some sort of service once I got the attention of a gentlemen working. He took my order, I received my drink immediately and my appetizer a few minutes later. Another 10 minutes go by, the blonde from the beginning finally asked if she could grab me anything. I said I'm ready to order. You would think at 2pm on a Friday she would know I'm coming in to eat. The Mac & Cheese and Sausage were good. My mashed potatoes were cold, and the meat was average at best. 0 out of 10 would not recommend. read more

Had a wonderful experience at Whiskey Inferno! A friend and I decided to try the nearby restaurant since I hadn't been there before. Transformed from an Applebees but you wouldn't really be able to tell for the interior changes besides the layout of the restaurant. The decor is sleek and they had a cool wall of liquors displayed on the far wall behind the bar. To being I chose to order the Underwood cocktail. It reminded me a lot of a Paloma but more complex. They flavor was great and refreshing! We started off with the Buffalo chicken dip as a starter and oh my gosh it was delicious! Buffalo dip is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint! It had plenty of chicken throughout, it was extremely creamy and had a melted cheese crusted topping. This would be easy to share for a group of 4 as well. For my meal I opted to go with the Crispy Clucker Club - say that ten time fast haha. It was pretty good. The chicken tenders were crisp and obviously hand breaded which I liked! I would've preferred a little more of the pesto but that just my opinion. The fries were very crisp and had good flavor. My friend chose to order the Bacon Double Mozz Burger and omg that thing looked amazing! It had a giant friend mozzarella "patty" on top of the burger and had plenty of the bacon jam to make it a super flavorful burger. He really enjoyed the burger and also got a surprise with his meal! Apparently if you order the signature burger at this time they throw in complimentary pork belly bites, those were delicious! Throughout the rest of our meal I ordered a Tequila old fashioned, this drink was phenomenal. Was dense with flavor but nothing too over powering and had a slightly sweet finish, I think this is my new favorite drink! Whiskey Inferno was a great place to eat on a Saturday night! We called ahead for a reservation but were told we could walk in and be seated. The four of us got there around 6pm and were able to be seated right away. They have bar seating and bar tables in the middle of the restaurant. The surrounding areas are regular party booth and table seating. The service was very good and we didn't have to wait long to get our food! What we ordered: -The Smokes Wings Dry rub and asked for the sauces on the side. You get five wings but wow they were very large! -Brisket Grilled Cheese This sandwich comes with a lot of brisket! I had so much I took some home. -Full Rack of Ribs Very good and again a lot of meat on the ribs! This location is great and easy accessible. The staff were very nice and welcoming. I'll pass on another visit to WI. I was expecting more of an upscale steakhouse with a hip bar. Rather it was more like a "Steak Ranch." Seating is very very close together and certain dining areas were way too loud due to restaurant music. We had a great funny waiter but even he couldn't cook the food too. Ordered medium rare NY strip and got a piece that was closer to rare with center red and cool. If you have no other options I would sit at the bar. I'll pass. read more

This is one of my favorite places. The food has always been good no matter what we've gone, although we usually get the steak and potatoes. Their drinks are good. The service is friendly and personable especially the bar tender who normally has been our server as well. The ambiance has been quiet and nice the times we have been there. Went tonight to celebrate my hubby's bday. Service was excellent but the food was less than par. I had the $22 lobster roll. Marginal at best. Cheese curds for an app would have been better at the state fair by far. My husband had the brisket which is his favorite cut and it was extremely fatty. And the side of Mac and cheese was warm not hot. We spent a total of 1 hour there tops. When you order your food is there within minutes meaning it is all predone and sitting there. We went here for a birthday dinner and it was great. We had our own little nook near the bar, definitely social distanced from others. It was very cozy. The birthday boy tried a whiskey. I had a drink called Test of Time. Not being much of a whiskey fan, I found it quite smooth. For dinner I had pan seared walleye with Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The relish on the fish had a little bite to it. Very good. Others at the table had a mushroom Swiss burger, fillet, ribeye and, of course, we had to try the beer can chicken.
