I had dinner earlier this evening, and I have to say that I was very disappointed by the poor service. Once we completed our order, it took about 15 minutes to get our appetizer, and once it was competed another 20 minutes to get our caesar salad which was nothing special. Another 25 minutes later we got our entre, which was good, but by the time that we got them, we were already frustrated from the long wait and poor service. I asked for a second glass of wine to be served with dinner, and finally got it when I was nearly finished. Needless to say, I will not be back anytime soon. For the prices that are charged, the service is not acceptable and I would not recommend this restaurant. For the same price point, I would recommend Fiddle Heads over 11 Central anytime. read more

Great food! Great service! Only downside is they don't take reservations, and the space does not fit a large group easily on a busy night. We had a group of six and had to wait about 30-45 minutes for the table. Once seated though, the service was fast and efficient. I'm troubled by our most recent visit as I observed an employee being spoken to very harshly in front of guests by what might have been the owner? I don't know what the issue was as this was our server and had been very professional and attentive as they all are. We were in Bangor for the American Conference College baseball playoffs and wanted a fun local place. 11 Central was an exceptional experience from the hostess to the server. The food was local, fresh and yummy. We started off with mussels which were cooked perfectly and the bowl seemed endless with awesome toast for dipping. The firecracker shrimp was a huge serving as well and was spicy and tasty served on pineapple. We shared a Mediterranean pizza which was to die for! Drinks are inexpensive and atmosphere is awesome!! Such a great experience from the time you walk in! Seated promptly...our server, Kelly was at our table promptly taking our drink orders and welcoming the five of us to what would be a great evening. We opened with the crab cakes and prosciutto goat cheese crostini appetizers and they paired perfectly with our starting wine. Our entree orders were brought to the table shortly...New York strip with lobster topping, New York strip with scallops topping, two orders of grilled scallops over pasta and a filet mignon with a gorgonzola bacon sauce...all were perfectly prepared and the flavors were what we hoped for and then some! The owner, Anne Marie stopped by our table to check in with us to make sure everything was to our liking and we gave her five thumbs up!!! Rude! My husband and I went a couple of years ago for New Years Eve. We live an hour away so we called to make a reservation. We were told they don't take reservations so we planned it to get there when they open...4:00 pm. We walked in at 4:10. There were several tables full but there were 3 empty tables. We told the hostess we had a party of 6. She asked the owner, Ann Marie, how long it would be to seat 6 and she said "I can't". I didn't understand, so I asked how !ong the wait was. She said " I can't accommodate you the who!e evening" !! I was stunned. They had been open only 10 minutes and there was no one else waiting for a table, and there were 3 empty tables! I asked about the empty tables and she told me she had a few "select reservations" . I told her I called to make a reservation and was to!d they didn't take them. She said they were for family and friends! Unbelievable. She would not even !et us wait for a table. She basically told us to go somewhere else. She offered us the bar. (Lol). 6 people can't interact at a bar, even if hers is "curvy". She bought me a drink while we tried to find another place to go. I've never been treated so poorly and I will never go back. After I posted a review she responded and said to contact them so they could make it up to me. She should have offered that while I was there. I would suggest Evenroods. I wanted to love this place! Bangor so desperately needs a nice go-to restaurant. I went with my parents for my father's birthday. It was nice to see the place packed on a Monday night, but lot of the food was disappointing. Drinks: My mom had a bellini, my dad a beer. Both pretty standard. I had a rum cocktail that was far too sweet. Appetizers: My mom and I had the goat cheese and prosciutto crostini. They were OK. I thought the strawberry was a bit odd (a jam would have been better) and I was surprised by how low quality the prosciutto was. My dad had the crab cakes. They were a bit too dark and he said there wasn't enough crab. Salads: Definitely the low-point of the meal. The caesar salads had virtually no dressing, and the croutons were too hard. Dinner: My mom had the pork chop and loved it. I thought the smoked gouda mashed potatoes could have used more creaminess. My dad's sea bass was spectacular. A must-try for sure. My hawaiian pizza was again, just OK. Decent crust and sauce, but nothing I'd come running back for. Service: Wonderful. Very attentive waitress. Never had to wait a moment for more water. Overall, it was a nice experience, but a bit of a let-down. We will definitely be back because places like this just aren't in the area, but I wish the food was a bit better. read more

Dinner was good . Space comfortable many regulars staff very friendly. We were waited upon by Kelsey she was knowledgeable and offered good advice. Crab cakes were wonderful,horseradish sauce best choice. We had Cesar salad dressing was weak and nor much on it,but we were asked at each course if it was fine. When we said no replacment was offered. None taken .we then waited 20 min for entree but it was worth wait gnocchi and pork chop were perfect. Desert we shared flour less chocolate cake,merlot berry sauce lovely, cake not so much they said made on site but it seemed more pre packaged coffee while hot had little flavor. Over all we will go back to try pizza. Cost was high and not worth food but staff was best seen in years. We tipped at 25% because of Kelsey. I belive the owners need to look to kitchen a bit more keeping them on time and double check salads and deserts lean on less prepackaged items for handmade on site. The worst restaurant in Bangor! We have been to several in the area and has never been this much disappointed. It was my birthday so it was supposed to be a memorable night. However the service was horrible, they were unfriendly to us from the beginning. The restaurant is very pricey but that's the only thing about it to make it sound fancy. Food is mediocre. You have to ask them to bring bread and butter and they charge you for it. In normal upscale restaurant this is the regular courtesy. The staff are not friendly unless you are native. I have been to many restaurants in Bangor and other cities close by and I always thought I would never get disappointed with the food and service here but I did tonight. This was the first time I got very disappointed. There are many other good restaurants in the area. Save yourself some time and money and go to other restaurants instead of this. Very dissapointing. After reviews we were looking forward to a great meal but did not deliver. Had the tenderloin, seabass and duck. Presentation was terrible on all three plates, but tenderloin was awful. Brown gummy tasteless potatoes and a tasteless white gorgonzola sauce,steak was cooked well. Duck was good but not great. The food was really good here. Steamed mussels were perfect with the wine and garlic. We shared a "dirty hippie" pizza which was incredible. Don't let the name fool you, it's their most popular pizza. Our server Brandy was attentive and friendly without being overbearing and that made the experience that much nicer. Had tried to eat here once before on a Saturday night in the winter. We had a party of seven and the hostess/owner made it clear that seven was an issue. I think we were told 3-4x that it would be a long wait, at which time we moved to the bar only to be told we could not stand at the bar, so, we left. Fast forward to last night, tried again with three of us. We were seated very quickly and our server was very pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere is fine. I'm far more concerned with service and food quality than the perception of a "swanky" atmosphere. I had the bacon bbq steak tips; they were good. My friend had the rib eye. We are rib eye aficionados, this was not a great rib eye, for $26. You can go to Kosta's and get a much better rib eye for half the price. I think the meat itself would have been fine but it was not cooked to our liking, light brown on the outside instead of seared dark brown, not a lot of flavor. Tap beer selection seemed good. I enjoyed my beer recommended by our server. In the future, could take it or leave it. read more

I experienced a great time at 11 Central, the atmosphere is very nice, the restaurant was just about full for a Monday night and we where seated in a few minutes, our waitress was great and pleasant, we had drinks and ordered appetizer bruschetta it was extremely good , we then had a ceasar salad fresh and also very good, we later had our dinner my friend had the thick cut porkchop with homemade mashed potatoes, I had a taste and the porkchop was delicious and tender, the mashed potatoes,what a portion a lot, were so delicious. My dinner was the shrimp scampi,OMG, I was fantastic, I was totally blown away the pasta was cooked al dente the shrimp were fresh and delicious and what make the dish is the sauce and being Italian and from Rhode Island it was amazing, my complaints to the chef, kept up the good work, everyone needed to try 11 Central, don't hesitate, this is a great restaurant. read more

This place is wonderful. The ambience is the best around. Perfect for date night, as there are so many "2-top" tables. My boyfriend and I went before heading to a play and we got right in (just before 5 p.m.). It filled right up after that. Our server was great. Knowledgable yet laid back (nice considering it IS a downtown "fancier" restaurant). We had nachos and the serving was gigantic. Super delicious. Our meals came with a ceasar salad, which was also nice and light. I ordered the duck and it was the second best duck I've ever had. My boyfriend had the filet, which was also tasty. My only critique is that the drinks were pretty weak for being quite expensive. The atmosphere got us hooked. We will return. Hoping at some point they may take reservations! read more

The food had great taste. Although, the chili was cold and the sea bass/vegetables were covered in a lot of oil. But, the flavor was very good. My two stars comes more from the lack of customer service. The bartender was very rude. I had settled into my spot and had my place mat down and drink. After ordering my meal there were two people behind me ordering drinks while they waited for a table. The bartender asked me to move. I was startled so I did it. But, after more thought and after other customers told me how rude that was and left without ordering I decided to talk to the bartender. The two people didn't even use my seat and they were seated at a table shortly after. As a matter of fact half the bar was empty at this point because it was just people ordering drinks then being seated. I let the bartender know that I've never ate at a bar that told people to move to open a seat next to an empty one. She was very defensive and refused to wait on me further. I asked to speak to a manager. The bartender gathered her girlfriends together and gave them her version. The hostess walked over afterwards and said she was the manager. The whole time I'm speaking to her she's looking past me at the bartender. Absolutely nothing came from this conversation. It took an hour to get my entree. They didn't make sure I had silverware so I waited even longer for that. They pulled a server off the floor to give me my check. The whole thing was so unprofessional and rude. I paid full price which was an expensive meal with no sincere apologies or anything else to reflect that they gave two cents. I don't plan to go back. read more
