We went here for lunch with my siblings and a couple other relatives. We didn't really want to go there - nothing against Geaghans really. We had been there for dinner and it was fine. But it is one of a few restaurants along Main Street that seem pricey to me for what they offer, even compared to other Bangor restaurants. Perhaps it is their proximity to the casino and the auditorium. But my family wanted to go here and we did. The server was friendly. I ordered a burrito that came with fries. The burrito was okay, though the menu said that sour cream came with it and I didn't receive any. I didn't realize it until after her first return to check on us. The burrito seemed rather plain without it. The fries were okay but perhaps not up to what I expect at an Irish pub. Sort of halfway between shoestring and hand cut. My wife had the shepherds pie, which came in a bowl with the circle of potato in the center, surrounded by the gravy and meat, etc. I had a taste and it was very good. The roll that came with it was large and okay (so big she gave me half). The meal for two was $40, and this without any drinks. So yes, it is pricy, but a lot of places are these days and I don't have any real criticism of it. (Plus I brought some of mine home for a second, smaller lunch. That always defrays the cost a bit.) read more

We have had beer (cans purchased in a store) from this brewery and like them so we decided to stop by for lunch while visiting our UMaine student. I had quickly scanned reviews and I did see that it was "not much to look at" from the outside but wow was I taken back. It's attached to a yucky motel. My husband said "we can turn back now and go somewhere else" but we were feeling adventurous so we went in. You step into the lobby of said motel and then go through to the pub. The hostess was super friendly and seated us immediately. We had a choice of inside or out and we chose outside as it was a little rough around the edges from what I could see. Our server was very, very nice and our beers came out quickly as well as the waters we also requested (lots of places neglect the water when requested). We all had a different item for lunch and also ordered some bone in wings for an app. The wings were meaty & crispy. No complaints there. The fish sandwich was not enjoyable and the onion rings were soggy. The tuna melt was okay but the tuna lacked any flavor and was too watery for a sandwich (drain the tuna more or add less mayo?) My son and his girlfriend did not complain to us about their sandwiches but they looked similar to the others. The fries were crispy and tasted good and the cole slaw was great. We really like the beers but decided this was a one & done solely based on the food quality and bizarre location. Personally, I would give it another chance for wings and beer but I was outnumbered by the "never again" majority. I think they should consider a facelift to the restaurant and a revamp to the recipes. read more

Even with the mixed reviews, we decided to try it anyway. Everything was great! The atmosphere and staff was friendly. The food was on point. I had a cesear salad with nice big plump grilled shrimp. Plenty of dressing on the side, croutons, freshly shredded mozzarella and crisp romaine lettuce. Ooh, and if they offer you a roll. Take it! You will not be disappointed. My boyfriend had the ham club with the Zippidy-Do-Dah fries. He thought it all was delicious. We will be back. :) read more

Does not look like much from the outside... But, inside it gives the traditional Irish pub vive. The menu had a variety of food not just Irish fare. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had the pretzel and beer cheese which was delicious - the beer cheese has a unique taste which makes it worth trying. Their boneless wings were really good and the pound is about rright for sharing with 2 people. Over all I don't think you could go wrong having dinner here. read more

I tried to like this place, honestly. It has bangers, it has cute signage. It was probably a kick booty place ten years ago, but it's just old and tired now. The server was pulled in several directions and never refilled our drinks. My dinner was plopped down on the table and nothing was said. The soup was watery and lacked simple salt and pepper. Stopped in at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon in the summer. Three of us were seated promptly. I was in the mood for a burger, and one friend got a burger also. The third got the tuna melt. I was warned by the waitress that the burgers are "smash burgers" and as such they will be cooked medium to medium well. She forgot to say they would lack flavor. The tuna melt with sweet potato fries ($1 up charge) was the clear winner of the day. I knew we were going for bar food, but expected much more based upon friends reviews. It's a one and done for me. Geaghan would be proud! Geaghans Pub is a bright spot in a dark city. During my time in Bangor, I witnessed a man get threatened to be slapped in the cinema, people sleeping in their cars, and several teethless mothers. Geaghans was a pleasant outlier. Serving was impeccable and quick. The food was delicious although I may need a triple bypass surgery in the near future. I got the Irishman Melt with sweet potato fries and my bi-curious friend, Kenneth, got a burger and fries. If I ever find myself in the Queen City again, I will be back at Geaghan's, splitting the G with a few unfamiliar faces. read more

Hi Friends, My favorite go to joint before any event at the Cross Insurance Center. Whether I sit at the bar or am able to score a table, I've never had a bad meal here Last week, I Bebopped to Bangor to catch Dear Evan Hansen, and for the first time I sat at the community table, which is available on nights where there isn't a large group in need of the spot. What a pleasant surprise I got the smoked Reuben (off the specials list), and the sandwich was terrific. So many times, I am reluctant to go with a special for fear the place is just trying to move nearly outdated food. But Geaghan's is always busy enough that I did not believe that the case And I'm glad I made that choice The pub has a very American Irish public house feel to it, with an extensive list of beers to wash down the food. I've never had a bad server or a mediocre meal. Just a heads up, if you're thinking of stopping in on your way to the Waterfront for a show, plan on getting in there early to ensure a spot to eat. Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeted by a friendly host and promptly seated. The pub area had a wait, so we dined in the side section, which offered comfy booths. Our server, Ingrid, was polite and accommodated a substitute for a side order. My husband and I both enjoyed our "Classic Reubens". The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly and my husband loved the Irish Nachos. Geaghan's offers a full bar and well-rounded selection of beer as well. I asked for a side of yellow mustard and was happy to see they had Ray's Mustard (a local favorite). Overall, great service, great food, and welcoming atmosphere. Cute spot. Has that vibe of an Irish pub. We tried sample flights of the local beers which is what I enjoyed most of this place. Great selection of beers for sure! The food was another story. We tried Fried Pickles, Smoked Wings, and the Shepard's Pie. The wings were actually good- well smoked and a different flavor which was a hit. The fried pickles were in too thick of a batter so not up to my standards (because I LOVE fried pickles). And the Shepard's pie was a total flop- much too wet, more like a stew. This is more of a place you go to relax and hang out and also have food, not a place you go because of the food. The staff were very lively and they clearly know each other well enough to make inappropriate cracks at each other. The pub cheese was a cold cheese spread, not what we were really expecting. It was a mixture of cheese spread and shredded cheese, and I wasn't really feeling the flavor. The Dublin coddle wasn't what I was in the mood for either, too much creamy and not enough savory depth of flavor. I don't know what Irish sausage is like, but it's not slices of Italian sausage or seasoned ground meat, it was more like chunks of hot dog. read more

Fun tavern/restaurant! We sat in a bar booth and our waitress was fantastic! A bit sassy and sweet like you would expect at a local Irish bar! She made great beer recommendations for a flight and was perfectly attentive without hovering at all. We kept it simple with a couple of fish & chips dinners - excellent! Fish tasted fresh, perfectly cooked, slaw, fries and a homemade dinner roll - with the bastard sauce - wow! No room for dessert! In town on business and a local co worker took us here for lunch. This place is awesome! Great little pub restaurant. Friendly staff and great service. I actually went back again on a Sunday because I wanted to try something different on the menu. First time I got the Fish and Chips though I subbed onion rings. The breading was not too thick and the fish was flaky and moist. The dipping sauce was awesome. The second time I got Smoked Rueben from the specials menu. This was fantastic good smoky flavor. The bread was greasy. I also got a beer the Refueler a nice hefe. I hope to head back one more time. Definitely recommend this great little gem in Bangor. read more

Off you are looking for a place where the locals go this is it. They are a brewery, and have a great selection of beers. I do like the brown ale, which is the main ingredient in their house made mustard. You have got to get the pub cheese to start-it is addictive! Wings are a star here, and you can't go wrong with the Reserve sauce-a zesty/sweet combination that pairs well with ranch. The Angry Irishman sandwich with its pepperoni, shaved steak, and jalapeños is a fav if you can handle a bit of heat. The fish and chips is amazing, and you can't go wrong with the shepard's pie. Look for the rotating specials in the back of the menu. The staff is typically on it, but they do get busy. The decor is eclectic, all Irish themed with many local ties. read more

Just a short walk from the casino/hotel, Geaghan's did not disappoint. A very nice crowd greeted me and opened some room at the bar for this visitor. The large menu, think "War & Peace", made my choice very hard. Everything looked delicious and was nicely priced. I just popped a flare and looked at what others were ordering----finally honed it down to 3 selections: The bartender made the choice for me. I could only finish 3/4 of the meal. The leftovers were nicely boxed and made for a wonderful lunch while flying across the U.S. Geaghan's Pub is not only a wonderful venue, it is loaded with a very friendly crowd. Geaghan's is attached to the Fireside Inn which we stayed at while in town for business. It was so convenient to walk down from the room to grab dinner. The atmosphere was loud and fun but the hum of activity didn't distract from the experience. The restaurant stayed busy but the wait staff and kitchen seemed to have no trouble keeping up. The food was great! We ate here two nights, tried something new each visit and wasn't disappointed. When we visit Maine again we will definitely make Geaghan's a stop. read more

Great place if you are looking for pub food and wide beer selection. Our waiter was very friendly and recommended some of their more famous items to try. My son (13) really liked the fish & chips. This is a favorite for us every time we are in Bangor! Right next to Hollywood Casino and right off the exit. If you are a beer person - the beers are fantastic. For me, it's the food though, and the food is phenomenal- my husband said the fish and chips is one of the best he's had anywhere - ever. The shepherds pie is a 20/10 for me - it's perfection. If you've ever enjoyed bread pudding, this is the BEST place to get it. Served warm with whipped cream, it's heaven every time. Any of the melts / sandwiches are wonderful as well. If you are waffling on getting the pub cheese starter or anything with pub cheese in it - just do it! Word to the wise on timing - if it's a night they close at 9, be there before 8:30, or you likely will not be able to dine in. We were running later than we normally do one night and were 5 minutes too late at 8:35. Staff have always been super friendly and very attentive. Nice pub ambiance. Absolutely love this place, it's a local gem and you should 100% visit. If you go once, you will keep going. It's THAT good! read more
