Tuna melt, fries and a stout
Elena K.

We have had beer (cans purchased in a store) from this brewery and like them so we decided to stop by for lunch while visiting our UMaine student. I had quickly scanned reviews and I did see that it was "not much to look at" from the outside but wow was I taken back. It's attached to a yucky motel. My husband said "we can turn back now and go somewhere else" but we were feeling adventurous so we went in. You step into the lobby of said motel and then go through to the pub. The hostess was super friendly and seated us immediately. We had a choice of inside or out and we chose outside as it was a little rough around the edges from what I could see. Our server was very, very nice and our beers came out quickly as well as the waters we also requested (lots of places neglect the water when requested). We all had a different item for lunch and also ordered some bone in wings for an app. The wings were meaty & crispy. No complaints there. The fish sandwich was not enjoyable and the onion rings were soggy. The tuna melt was okay but the tuna lacked any flavor and was too watery for a sandwich (drain the tuna more or add less mayo?) My son and his girlfriend did not complain to us about their sandwiches but they looked similar to the others. The fries were crispy and tasted good and the cole slaw was great. We really like the beers but decided this was a one & done solely based on the food quality and bizarre location. Personally, I would give it another chance for wings and beer but I was outnumbered by the "never again" majority. I think they should consider a facelift to the restaurant and a revamp to the recipes.

Typical pub food. I wanted more - but left feeling underwhelmed. The food was decent - not spectacular. Like I said - typical pub food. I told my husband I wished we would have eaten elsewhere and just stopped here for a drink.

Cesear salad with shrimp

Even with the mixed reviews, we decided to try it anyway. Everything was great! The atmosphere and staff was friendly. The food was on point. I had a cesear salad with nice big plump grilled shrimp. Plenty of dressing on the side, croutons, freshly shredded mozzarella and crisp romaine lettuce. Ooh, and if they offer you a roll. Take it! You will not be disappointed. My boyfriend had the ham club with the Zippidy-Do-Dah fries. He thought it all was delicious. We will be back. :)

Does not look like much from the outside... But, inside it gives the traditional Irish pub vive. The menu had a variety of food not just Irish fare. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had the pretzel and beer cheese which was delicious - the beer cheese has a unique taste which makes it worth trying. Their boneless wings were really good and the pound is about rright for sharing with 2 people. Over all I don't think you could go wrong having dinner here.

We stopped by on our way to Bar Harbor. Food was good. Desserts were great! Lots of Irish decor and great service.

Top bread greasy. Not grilled

Usually my safe go to place. Partly been sliding. We got rake out. Wings great as always. My Reuben was not good. Greasy bread. Bottom 1/2 sandwich cooked out. Top not cooked. We asked that fries be cooked well done and they were just right. I used to love their Reuben .

Hi Friends, My favorite go to joint before any event at the Cross Insurance Center. Whether I sit at the bar or am able to score a table, I've never had a bad meal here Last week, I Bebopped to Bangor to catch Dear Evan Hansen, and for the first time I sat at the community table, which is available on nights where there isn't a large group in need of the spot. What a pleasant surprise I got the smoked Reuben (off the specials list), and the sandwich was terrific. So many times, I am reluctant to go with a special for fear the place is just trying to move nearly outdated food. But Geaghan's is always busy enough that I did not believe that the case And I'm glad I made that choice The pub has a very American Irish public house feel to it, with an extensive list of beers to wash down the food. I've never had a bad server or a mediocre meal. Just a heads up, if you're thinking of stopping in on your way to the Waterfront for a show, plan on getting in there early to ensure a spot to eat. The rooms fill quickly, but fear not, the kitchen does a bang on job on getting food out quick even on busy nights See y'all at the crossroads

Pub cheese

A staple in Bangor that has been around for years. Known for their wings and their pub cheese. The wings are fantastic. This time we got the pub cheese and it's okay but most people love it. Large dining area and big bar area. Pub food that's good. I got the Buffalo chicken quesadilla and it was really great. Service was really good. Worth a stop!

Classic Reuben with sweet potato waffle fries, coleslaw, pickle and side of Ray's yellow mustard.

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeted by a friendly host and promptly seated. The pub area had a wait, so we dined in the side section, which offered comfy booths. Our server, Ingrid, was polite and accommodated a substitute for a side order. My husband and I both enjoyed our "Classic Reubens". The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly and my husband loved the Irish Nachos. Geaghan's offers a full bar and well-rounded selection of beer as well. I asked for a side of yellow mustard and was happy to see they had Ray's Mustard (a local favorite). Overall, great service, great food, and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you Ingrid and Geaghan's for a good experience!

Everytime my family eats here it's always been delicious. I definitely recommend this place to try.

Stopped in for a drink with the gals after a show across the street. The wings are SO GOOD! Our server was very attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable

We get together one a month to chat about old times and our retirement. We take turns choosing a different breakfast restaurant each time. After a few years we had tried most of the regular places in the area. I was looking for another centralized place when I drove by The Hilton Garden Hotel in Bangor, Maine. They have a breakfast buffet every morning from 6-10 AM. I was greeted promptly, seated and options explained. The buffet, which included the coffee, seemed just right. The serving line had all the usual offerings: scrambled eggs, French toast, pan cakes, sausage, bacon, home fries- not the shredded potatoes, etc., and a fruit bar. The best part was the 2 chefs who prepared to take your order for anything else. I got the omelets with bacon, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and cheese. The waitress was very pleasant and checked frequently for coffee refills or if anything else was needed. The omelets were outstanding, same with the fluffy pan cakes, soft French toast, especially the crispy bacon. I have been back 3 times since January of 2026. Great chefs, staff and food. If you are in the area, you can not go wrong by giving them a try.

We came back the following night for a REAL treat... First of all, Tony was our server. What an absolute sweetheart!! He had nothing but fantastic recommendations for us. He was definitely not your standard "waiter". He spoke to us like we were regulars, which we appreciated, considering we were from Massachusetts. We ordered three of his suggestions: wings, fish and chips and the spicy margarita. Outside of what was recommended we also got the beer cheese and GIANT soft pretzel, bangers and mash and the creme brûlée. First off- this was my first time trying beer cheese, so I was beyond excited. I hate pretzels, however. Guess what?? They were BOTH SOOO GOOD!! The pretzel was the size of my giant head and was so soft & salty. It really paired well with the creamy beer cheese. I'd come back just for this appetizer every time. The wings too, actually! I was a little hesitant because I read the word "dill" on the menu but they really tasted more like Buffalo wings with a note of dill at the very end. I think I might be in love.... On to the main event! The Smithwick's beer battered fish and chips... WOW. It was a little different than I'm used to (which was a great thing in this case). The batter was thick and crispy (I'm used to thinner) and the haddock was super moist. Very fresh! I order this meal wherever I go and this is definitely in my top 3 (out of probably 50 others). I was hoping I could switch out the chips for fries because, well, I've never had traditional chips before! I must say I was pleasantly impressed though! They were the BEST and completed the dish perfectly. My fiancé had the bangers and mashed. He said it was good and very traditional. I did not indulge, so I can't relay that in my review. Last, we ended the meal with a MUST try....the creme brûlée. LEAVE ROOM FOR THIS DESSERT! The top was a hard sugar coating while the rest was truly a creamy dream. I might have to stop back in JUST for this before I head back home! 5 stars. Definitely. 6 stars for service!!

This spot is cozy and quaint and full of friendly local staff members. It was Kentucky Derby day and a lot of folks we were watching it as we walked in, ambiance was jovial and loud. Greeted immediately by the hostess and bartender and waited a short while for a table to open up. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the Reuben. He is Jewish and loves Reubens, gets them all the time. He said this one was really, really good. Great texture to the meat. Now, my Chicken Sandwich - was the best I've ever had in my life. I told my husband, I will be holding any and all future chicken sandwiches up to this one as the benchmark. The breaded chicken breast was huge and delicious quality white meat. It was dipped in buffalo sauce, and had fresh slaw, pickles, tomato and blue cheese sauce. It was DECADENT and it really hit the spot for me after a long day. I could not stop eating it. YUMMMM. Oh, we also ordered the pub fries - loaded with aioli and cheese and greens. Fries were delish but a bit too much aioli for our taste. Still, wonderful! Huge portion. Overall, food was yummy, out quickly, service was great and we loved the vibes. Easily a fav for us on this trip and we'll be looking forward to coming back again some day!

The music was located in a room off the bar, with plenty of dancing space. We opted to stay in the main bar area, as it seemed that there were no waitresses going into the music room. Our waitress seemed new. She wasn't really able to answer any questions without checking with others. My daughter ordered the dessert special but was told they were all out. She switched to getting some nachos and the waitress wasn't sure if you could order them at a time that wasn't happy hour. She apparently thought that food listed on the happy hour menu was only offered during those times. I explained to her that typically you could still order those dishes, they would just be full price at any other time. After she consulted with another employee, they confirmed this. My son got the kids pasta and I got the wings. The food was pretty basic pub food. Nothing mind blowing, but a decent bite to eat at a reasonable price. Once we received our food, our waitress didn't return for at least 30 minutes. We waited a while before she came over to offer us boxes and our bill. Once she dropped those off, she quite literally disappeared. My kids got so tired of waiting that they just walked back to the room. I wasn't terribly upset because I was enjoying the music. However, after waiting another 30 minutes, I decided to track down the one other waitress to see if she could cash us out. There was a main bar/pub area and then seating in the back that was set up more like a dining room. Instead of having one waitress on each side, they had both bouncing back and forth. It was clearly too much for anyone person to be spread so thin, especially seeing how my waitress was new. That was no fault of hers, but just completely disappearing and never coming back seems like something even the newest server would recognize as inappropriate. I wish her luck, just don't know if she's at the right job.

The vibe is chill speakeasy/library; there's a comfy bar area with tables and then a warren of other little spaces where you can hang out as well, with books and games strewn about to peruse. I love that they have a small, curated menu, which makes it easy: Maine oysters (two kinds, both awesome) got me started with a martini (well OK two martinis; friendly bartender makes them *perfectly*), and then you can extend to dinner with a few rotating options. I got lucky because whoever is making this delicious food decided that bolognese and lasagna should have a baby and be served in a piping-hot dish with some bread and salad on the side, and who could be mad about that?! (NB get some red wine with it). And they feature the fabulous Maine martini (aka Allen's Coffee Brandy, to which I have been converted), so there's your perfect nightcap. Sometimes when you go to bars with small menus the food is so-so, but not here: everything was insanely good and the perfect portion size. Who knows when I'll be back in Bangor next, but I'll definitely come here again when I am. Check it out!
