Back again at the Home 2 Suites. We go about every 6 months to visit family. We eat out a lot. By far, the Blue Skye Lounge is the best place we go to. We went to "family Restaurants", local pizza place, Sea dogs by the water, McLaughlins (great food but man, they need umbrellas over their tables!!). Anglers was also good but kind of far. The food at Blue Skye Lounge is excellent! One wouldn't think it would be so great at a pub style lounge but one would sadly miss a good meal by not heading into this lounge. Yes, service can be a tad slow, but the bar is always quite busy, so tables wait a bit for service. We go in with our grandchildren. They LOVE the mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders and the pizza! It's the best around, I swear, and at a VERY reasonable price. During happy hour, you can't beat the prices. Chicken tenders are always perfectly cooked and at $8.00 an order, it's the best deal around. Mozzarella sticks? They love them and at $5.00 an order, it makes the grand parents smile We went several times during this visit. Our last being Wednesday evening. (Our Wednesday morning flight had been cancelled!) Our food was great and set us up for the day and our server was hilarious and wonderful. Would highly recommend.

We are staying in town for a few days and went there for breakfast. We were given menus, we ordered coffee and no one ever came back. Even if they were making a fresh pot it wouldn't have taken that long. There was a bartender and two other servers that passed by us numerous times and no one acknowledged us. After more than 20 minutes we left. Very unfriendly place. Service is crappy at best. read more

This lounge is conveniently attached to the Bangor Grande Hotel. After a busy day, it was nice to be able to have dinner right on the property. There was a free band on a Saturday night. The music was located in a room off the bar, with plenty of dancing space. We opted to stay in the main bar area, as it seemed that there were no waitresses going into the music room. Our waitress seemed new. She wasn't really able to answer any questions without checking with others. My daughter ordered the dessert special but was told they were all out. She switched to getting some nachos and the waitress wasn't sure if you could order them at a time that wasn't happy hour. She apparently thought that food listed on the happy hour menu was only offered during those times. I explained to her that typically you could still order those dishes, they would just be full price at any other time. After she consulted with another employee, they confirmed this. My son got the kids pasta and I got the wings. The food was pretty basic pub food. Nothing mind blowing, but a decent bite to eat at a reasonable price. Once we received our food, our waitress didn't return for at least 30 minutes. We waited a while before she came over to offer us boxes and our bill. Once she dropped those off, she quite literally disappeared. My kids got so tired of waiting that they just walked back to the room. I wasn't terribly upset because I was enjoying the music. However, after waiting another 30 minutes, I decided to track down the one other waitress to see if she could cash us out. There was a main bar/pub area and then seating in the back that was set up more like a dining room. Instead of having one waitress on each side, they had both bouncing back and forth. It was clearly too much for anyone person to be spread so thin, especially seeing how my waitress was new. That was no fault of hers, but just completely disappearing and never coming back seems like something even the newest server would recognize as inappropriate. I genuinely don't know how to rate this bizarre experience. Getting a bartender was an abysmal experience. I appreciate a few that worked themselves to death and were incredibly friendly, but we kept getting bypassed by people who were in a server well (weird because in every other bar I've been in, that's a huge no) when we were sitting at the bar. Fights breaking out with no one to intervene on the behalf of safety of customers. We just got handed our tab instead of anyone calling last call. So many others around us complained about the same experience. A poorly run hotel bar in a poorly run hotel... seriously, just skip it. read more

We came here for breakfast on a Monday morning. It's adjacent to the Bangor Grande Hotel where we were staying. Our server was super nice. They had a good selection of menu items for breakfast. We ordered: blueberry pancakes, french toast, eggs scrambled with cheese, a side of corned beef hash, bacon, and ham. Everything was tasty. The only thing I did not like was the corned beef hash. This was not the corned beef hash I am used to. This was a mixture of shredded hash browns and bits of ham. It was not bad. It's just not what I know corned beef hash is to be. Decided to give this place a try because it was close to the airport and we were flying back home that night. We walked in and no one greeted us.. after a 5-6 minutes we went ahead and put 2 tables together for our group. After that we finally got service. It was a party of five. I ordered the baked Haddock with stuff crab meat. Side of rice and ceaser salad. My rice was cold and hard so I asked for a side of spinach instead and that was too salty. The haddock was good because of the sauce. Other than that the drinks were good. A nice place for drinks and watch sports and killing time while waiting to fly out. read more

I just deopped by at this car in Bangor, Maine. This place look not bad, like usual bars maybe a bit better. Prices are ok too. The bartenders are very helpful very nice. Try some local beer such as Allagash, some food. Everything taste good, and feels good to be here. Really recommend this place especially if you're traveling trough and you're hungry or just staying at Bangor and like to drink something. Super 8 is walkable if you drink too much and this is the Really nice motel here also Stephen King's home just about 6 min drive. So location wise it's really great play to stay to. It was New Years Eve, and the event was sold out. We had a nice dinner then proceeded to the lounge. Eventually, we found two seats at the bar. The bartenders were attentive yet incredibly busy getting drinks for patrons and servers. We realized that the lounge and restaurant only had one POS register to process orders and bills. This caused a backup and additional stress for bartenders and servers. The facility should have been better prepared to handle an event such as this. Other than this hiccup, it was an enjoyable evening and we would come back. read more

My husband and I meet here over 20 yrs ago when it was a nightclub. We hadn't stepped foot in the building since then, and would frequently mention how we wanted to check it out whenever we drove by. We went a few weeks ago, and it was definitely nostalgic! Before going, we checked the website and it said the restaurant was open. It wasn't, so we went into the lounge. The bar and decor are close to how I remember it. They built a wall to split the large room in half that they open up during large events. Not sure if the old dance floor is still there. We decided to sit at the bar, and the bartender explained that the restaurant wasn't always open due to staffing issues so they only had a bar menu. We ordered fries, Thai chili wings, and the chicken quesadilla. The food was quite tasty and fresh. The quesadilla was stuffed with a generous amount of well-seasoned chicken and came with a side of fresh salsa. We appreciated the generous pours in our drinks, and the bartender was friendly. There was a guy singing and playing guitar, and we appreciated the fact we could have a conversation without yelling because the volume was just loud enough. It was a Monday night so the place wasn't packed, but there was a decent turnout of people-definitely some regulars at the bar. We're looking forward to trying out the restaurant once it's open, as there are some good-looking dishes on the menu. I'd also return for drinks at the bar. read more

Terrible place. Terrible service. If you are getting takeout here check your food before giving them your card! I got pork fried wontons and the wontons were total mush topped with about 2 tablespoons of tiny pork cubes and salsa (I wanted the salsa on the side but they put it on the food anyway) Macaroni and cheese was noodles floating in very watery liquid which they had dropped the side of bread into making it complete mush. I did not take the food and was told that my card would not be charged. It was charged anyway and when I called and spoke with someone they said that a manager needed to be called in (which the server did not do, he watched me leave empty-handed and had not gone for a manager). Me and my family stopped and stayed the night at the Bangor Grande Hotel that this restaurant is attached to and decided to have supper here. We came to eat at 7:30 in the afternoon and basically had the entire dining room to ourselves, though there were several people at tables and the bar which are located in the restaurants lounge. I've been told the hotel and restaurant have recently undergone renovations, so that could explain the lack of customers. The service was very polite if a bit quiet. I ordered the Mac 'n' cheese whereas my other family member ordered the Classic Burger, a Strawberry Pecan Salad with chicken, and the Broiled Haddock with small red potatoes and a side salad. Portions were great and the taste of the food was excellent as well. Definitely would recommend for dinner, though I believe they also serve breakfast and brunch. read more

Outstanding! Delicious! Maybe the best meal I've ever had in Bangor. I had steak tips with rice and zucchini. The service was also top notch. They didn't have a full glass of the wine I ordered but brought me a half glass and recommended a very nice substitute from the "bottles only" menu. The atmosphere here is relaxed and fun. I have visited this lounge several times in the last 2 months, and I do like the bar and atmosphere. The one problem I would complain about is their BLT sandwich. This should contain bacon, lettuce and tomato but when I ordered one to go, I got Pork Belly, lettuce and tomato. When I told them that's not what I ordered they told me the fine print under the BLT on the menu said they use Pork Belly by default unless you specified bacon. That's not the way it should work. Bacon by default and Pork Belly on request is honest. Pork Belly is just a big piece of fat. Guess they had extra Pork Belly they needed to get rid of so that's a good way to do it. read more

My wife and I came back to Blue Sky Lounge to try the brunch. (An employee I met this past week told me about the weekend brunch hours) My beloved wife and I ate here a few weeks ago for dinner. It was amazing! I rated it 5 stars. No joke! 5 stars. I am NOT easy to please. So for my brunch I chose Eggs Benedict with pork belly. So... here's the deal. The mildly negative here... and I do mean mildly..... is, the hollandaise sauce was broken (a bit overworked) and the poached eggs were a bit over cooked(not nice and runny as expected). BUT! Here's the thing. The flavors were spot on! Yummy to the bone! I can forgive a bit over on the eggs. I can also forgive the very mildly broken hollandaise sauce. I still give my brunch a 4 out of five. I have faith that this was a fluke after my first experience and first impression with Blue Sky Lounge. I WILL be back! I WOULD STILL absolutely recommend this as a place to eat. Trust me when I say, "This place is worth your hard earned money." I also want to add that I was very pleased to here the young man who waited on us this Saturday morning say, "I've been trying the dishes on the menu so I know what we serve." (As close as I can remember) This was a breathe of fresh air to here. It is a must for wait staff to know what the food they serve tastes like! Great job! I wish I remembered his name.
