This restaurant is in the bottom of the holiday inn. I wouldn't say I would pick here to come unless I was staying at the hotel but for a hotel bar it was good. Limited menu but I got the burger and it was really great, and the fries were good. I also got a dirty martini and it was good. Price point was cheap on drinks and food. The service was super friendly and quick. If I ever stay at this hotel again I would for sure get food here. read more

Was staying down the street at Super 8 which unfortunately had no restaurant or bar. After a torturous travel day I was in need of both!!! Pete & Larry's did not disappoint It looked nicer than a normal hotel restaurant and the food was really solid. I had a Caesar and Burger with fries, both about as good as my normal trendy burger joint back home. Bartender was the perfect amount of sociable and pours a great shot of Jaegar which proved the perfect nightcap after 3 double IPA.... Hotel bars often have a reputation for being boring and expensive. This joint is in the Holiday Inn and it's neither. Bangor, ME is not the end of the word but it's in the neighborhood. I was there on business last Thursday and Friday and visited P&L's both evenings. You could do a lot worse than to have an adult libation or two here. * I experienced two different bartenders and they were both veterans. They were competent and friendly. * They offer a M-F early Happy Hour form 3-5 pm. I was there on Friday and enjoyed three substantial glasses of the house merlot. The bill was $8.88! That definitely made me happy! * They have free freshly made popcorn all the time and during Happy Hour they add a lite hot nibble or two. * Live music on the weekends. It's under construction, but you'd barely know it. Music and TVs, dimly lit. Ambience is nice. I was excited to get seafood from their specials menu, since I am visiting Maine. They waaay overcooked the scallops. Red potato mash is delightful. Service is good. I'd rev sticking to the bar food. read more

For what it is I'm giving it a 5....cheap, good eats. We arrived late 10:15PM...they accommodated me, my son, daughter. They where free (12 and under) and ordered the burgers. They where huge...8 oz....they where cooked over flame and good. I ordered haddock and it was decent for frozen. The bartender was on it and even brought my daughter oranges from the bar. I've eaten several meals in here this past week that I've been staying at the Holiday Inn. I would not normally give a place like this 4 stars; but the food really is very good, and the prices are not too bad for a restaurant attached to a hotel. So far, I can say the clam chowder is on par with any up here in Maine, the French onion was delicious, the boneless wings were great, the burger was decent. But really, most of all, their lobster BLT was to die for. If you like lobster rolls and you like a classic BLT even more, than this is the sandwich for you! It was 20 bucks, but really, the quality was there, and I was stuffed after. This sandwich alone is the reason why I'm leaving this review. Today is my first day in Maine. My goal is to have lobster every day in some form or fashion. Tonight I started at Pete and Larrys which is attached to the Holiday Inn in Bangor. I had a local IPA and the Lobster Stew - apparently a new addition to their menu. IT WAS SO GOOD! A great start to my lobster eating vacation! The restaurant only has about ten tables along with the bar seating. One waitress, Meghan H, did a good job covering them all. The lobster stew was a tasty bisque base. I was afraid there wasn't much lobster in it at first but soon discovered spoonfuls at the bottom -big enough pieces that I had to chew it! Yum! yum! After a long day of flying to get here I am very tired and this place fit the bill. $22 for the lobster stew and a local draft beer. I don't see anyone else with the stew but they are certainly making happy sounds with whatever they are eating. read more

The bartenders are competent but not terribly friendly and the menu is akin to Applebee's or any other American chain- medium prices for serviceable food if you're traveling. On the plus side, I was loudly serenaded at the bar by a regular who knew every word to the (very loud) 80's themed radio-show and that's something you don't get just anywhere. read more

We got free breakfast vouchers from the Holiday Inn and expected some crappy continental spread, but we were more than pleasantly surprised here. The dining room is nice and modern, with friendly staff (loved our waitress Hillary). And the bacon. You need the perfectly crispy yet juicy thick cut bacon made by Chef Chris. Lobster benedict and French toast were on point as well. This brunch was so delicious we had to return for round two the next day. So I normally am very positive and complimentary with my reviews. But this place is absolutely atrocious. Between the lack of service..ie 1 hour to get extra salad dressing and forgetting 2 appetizers 2 hours before I just can't even describe my disturbing experience. I ordered lobster bisque(in Maine) and it was frozen lobster in their clam chowder soup. So then I sent it back to replace it with their French Onion Soup. More like onion bread pudding. We had breakfast and it was excellent. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the breakfast potatoes were crispy on the outside and well seasoned. The service was excellent. I will definitely eat here again. read more

One of the worst dining experiences I have had in 2013. Despite the fact the place was empty, service was slow. The popcorn in the bar was old and reheated and had a strong rancid oil taste. I had a whiskey sour, but I think they forgot the booze and my wife's martini was watered down. Who puts water in a martini? The food was horrible. I had bourbon beef tips and was asked how I wanted it cooked, okay that's fine. What arrived was not beef tips, but more like a stew without veggies, with a sickly sweet sauce without a hint of bourbon. Tasted more like a cheap BBQ sauce. My wife's salmon was over cooked and dried out. What a waste of good fish. She could only eat the baked potato, which is real hard to ruin. French fries had a weird taste as if they sat for a while and were retried. Stay away from this place unless you want to drink and like weak crappy well drinks. read more

Since all holiday inns now have the same menu of garbage that all tastes microwaved I can only give 3 stars. That aside, this is the rare holiday inn that adds a local menu as well. I had the blackened scallops one night and they were excellent. Another night I dad the lobster roll. It was surprisingly good. Not much filler but still a little small. If it were only an all local menu instead of standard menu I could do 4 or 5 stars. The bartender, Megan is very pleasant and even though she was a little overwhelmed by serving a nearly full restaurant by herself she still delivered great service. I would give her 5 stars alone. She even put up with an obnoxiously drunk dude with muppet teeth without any problems. Thanks Megan! read more
