Service was quick, we were there very shortly after they opened. It had a cool vibe inside, I liked the music pictures. I had the Cuban sandwich and enjoyed it, had good flavor. Also got a side of seasoned tots which we did not like. Tots for me should be crispy and light but these were soft and thick. My friends got the burrata and the pretzel to share and raved about each. We are staying at an Airbnb just above this place so we decided to give it a try. Great happy hour specials. Food was great! Beers were even better. One of us had a flight (liked them all) and one had a HUGE 1L beer (also great). The cookie dessert was fine, but not great (a bit too dry). Service was attentive but not pushy. I came to Nocturnem Draft Haus with two friends after an event at the Penobscot Theatre Company. All of us were from out of town, and we did not realize how hard it would be to find dinner after 9:30 on a Tuesday night. We walked into Nocturnem at 9:41 after striking out at Paddy Murphy's, and were relieved to find we could order until 9:45. The place was small and inviting, with beer logos decorating brick walls. We sat at the bar and got fast, polite service from the bartender on duty, who took our order and split our checks before we even thought to ask. We filled our bellies, hung out for a while, and had an all-around great time. I ordered the brats and kraut for dinner, a hearty plate of housemade brats with Morse's sauerkraut and housemade cold potato salad. I washed this down with one of the beers on tap. These were mostly Oktoberfest brews, and I got the Weisenstephaner Festbier--not local, like some of the others on the list, but it hit the spot. I liked Nocturnem, and I'm very grateful that it fed us when we were hungry, with no other choice but to starve until morning. I'd recommend it if you're looking for food and drink in Bangor, especially if it's getting late. read more

This is a fine establishment right on Main Street. Unintimidating and a cozy atmosphere. Though it was mostly empty upon our early arrival, it filled up rather quickly on a Thursday evening. The most beautiful woman I ever did see was working as a server this fateful evening, doing nothing more than elegantly placing a skillet of potatoes swimming in cheese on our table. But the gods only decided to tease me with a glance, as it was the barkeep who tended to us and not one of the regular servers, due to our early arrival. A friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable young man, an ideal personification of what service should be like! He gave the most excellent advice on the complex decision of which burger I should select. The Gouda Burger, with a nice slab of cheese and the perfect amount of bacon and spicy relish, was absolutely delicious. And the kaiser roll! A lot of bürgermeisters underestimate the value of a good bun, but all the elements of this burger were perfect. I dare say it is among the best burgers I've had anywhere, and that's spinning a mighty yarn! The aforementioned Poutine Potato Wedges were also delectable; undoubtedly I lost at least a day of my life consuming such lardy goodness but YOLO, amirite? 100% would return. read more

This is why going local can be so wonderful. First, the staff is friendly and funny and characters in a good way. Second the beer selection is nuts, I didn't know where to start but both I ordered were wonderful. I was tempted to try a cocktail as they looked so nice going by, maybe next time. Food: I tried their spin on a Cubano sandwich and it exceed expectations and potato salad tasted homemade. My daughter had the meatball trio and she found it tasty and ate it all. Just confirming other reviews, this is a cozy pub with good food and many choices for beer. In town for doc appt, caught an early dinner here. Honey had the house brats with potato salad and kraut. Brats were not overly spiced, so they paired well with quality mustard. As a Mainer, she's picky about all things potato. Said this one was excellent, with firm cubes, crunchy veggie bits and dressing that wasn't too sweet or too vinegary. Paired well with a surprising find, mead! I had fish tacos. Happy to taste fish that was seasoned but not battered. I couldn't tell what the spices were, only that they blended really well. Plus i grabbed Honey's kraut. Yum! Oh, and a local brown ale. Needless to say she was wretched and made us feel uncomfortable, after bartending and managing at bars and restaurants I would never allow this behavior as an owner. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We drank absinth, which was fun. The food was ok. I got the waffle fries as a side. They were cold. I asked for more, but I realized that they bake them in the oven or something. Most of mine were toasted on one side and not cooked enough on the other side, and generally tasted dehydrated. I didn't eat the fries and would recommend you get the chips. My burger was good. They actually cooked it medium as requested, which is hard to find. My wife's tacos were good but the tortillas were similarly cold as my fries were. Go here for the drinks, not the food. read more

Found this place on YELP and was not disappointed. Taylor greeted me at the bar and was a gem! She served up great drinks, not just for me, but I watched her with other patrons. Wow! I had been traveling around the these states, checking out breweries, and there were two breweries that I was not able to visit: Oxbow and Lost Nation. And then, I got to Nocturnem and guess what? They had a tap take over from Oxbow and Lost Nation. Seriously? That's five stars right there. It was late at night also, and not many other places open. Nocturnem has also a food menu, and I was able to get some chicken wings, which were deliciously well cooked. These were some good chicken wings! if it wasn't because I was tired, I would've hang and eat more. This is a cool place. I got to talk to some travelers, the bar tenders were awesome too, this place is like a college bar where the staff has the charisma of Tom Cruise. My husband and I are new to the area and have been trying out a local eatery at least once a week. We are so glad we happened upon this gem this evening! They have a pretty outside dining area set up and, since the weather was perfect, we decided this was the right time to try it out. They have an impressive selection of drafts and the menu is full of great choices. We had a hard time making decisions! My husband chose the French dip sandwich and fries, while I went with the Burnt ends tacos, after our waitress suggested them. Words do not exist to accurately describe the deliciousness that showed up on our plates! The French dip was on a freshly baked baguette and the meat was tender, juicy, cheesy and the fries and pickle spear were excellent sides! As for my tacos...where to begin? The burnt ends were cooked on site in their smoker to perfection! Then they were topped with a creamy slaw and pickled onions and served with a side of tortilla chips and house made salsa. We decided we would take a bite and then snap a picture of our plates but we didn't stop eating long enough to get to the pics. We both agreed that, if we had one super power, we would want time travel so we could go back and have that experience again from the conversations with the friendly and helpful staff to the full bellies! She said if I wanted to grab a seat they would be right with me. Not. I then went out and grabbed a single seat by a barrel to avoid taking up a whole table. The first server came out, but not to me. We also tried the cheese curd and morse's meat app. The ratio was way off, a goblet full of cheese and a coupe piece of meat. The draft list and all the local brews are where they shine. They have a rotating selection including foundation, dogfish, bissel brothers, winterport brewery and more. They even had a wonderful raspberry lambic that I wanted to drink by the gallon. Got takeout from here and was not disappointed at all. Most things were starting to close up around 9 so thankfully this spot was still open. The food is solid but some of the prices are just absurd, mainly the wings. $15 for 8 wings is just absurd, we would've ordered more if they were actually reasonable. Other than that, it's hard to complain. The burger was super tasty, a bit greasy but that was likely overstated because it was takeout and sat in a carton for a bit. Maybe they just dont know how to serve bbq the north east but when someone orders bbq they expect a PILE OF MEAT. The potato salad was FIRE tho! Thumbs up on that sh!t. Very spicy & creamy & the potatoes were perfect! Still hungry tho, so i order wings. They come in the half or full pound.
