A great new bar and grill in North Brewer! During these times we've seen a lot of favorites go under or new projects stop due to financial issues- it's so wonderful to see the successful start to a new business! Mad Kat is definitely worth a stop in- formerly Jester's and City Side Restaurant, the new owners have done a fantastic job cleaning the space and upgrading it cosmetically to make a welcoming, fresh spot. They certainly mix the same strong, good ol' drinks of Jester's, that's for sure! Everyone working was so sweet and attentive, and were extremely safe and respectful in following COVID protocol. So nice to feel a little bit normal again and feel like the world is coming back to life, slowly but surely. Stop in and support a small business when you feel comfortable! MORGAN'S BATHROOM REVIEW: As the sign says, "Amazing Experience- 5 Stars, Would Poop Here Again." Felt very safe and free to pee in peace in this ultra clean bathroom. Stall door was a little bit sticky and made me panic and think I would be stuck in there for forever for a hot second. Assertive automatic soap dispenser. Great water pressure. 10/10 would pee here again. Thank

The temperature in the dining room was about the same and despite a large number of customers wearing their coats at the tables, the staff did nothing to remedy the situation. The place was clean and cute, dog-themed and decorated for Halloween, and the menu is basically all burgers, salads and sandwiches. We split a classic naan breadsticks, which turned out to be a naan flatbread pizza that tasted and looked like a crappy frozen pizza from a gas station. We also shared a classic cheeseburger that was pretty good; definitely above average and comparable in taste and size to Smashburger. The men's room was clean, service was okay, and that's about it. Prices were comparable to other places in the area, but given the uncomfortable HVAC, waitress upsell, and lousy, inauthentic naan we won't be going back.

It is a narrow space, but it seemed like a larger one. The food was excellent. I got a gouda burger and ended up taking half of it home. The app filled me up--four nice sized egg rolls stuffed with reuben ingredients. Yummy! The only sticking point I had was the unfriendly service. When I thank a person for every little thing they do, I kind of expect at least a smile. Not happening. Perhaps if I had bought alcohol it would have been friendlier? That kind of is off-putting. Nonetheless, great food.

We walked over from the main strip of downtown and loved the vibe as soon as we arrived. Walking down the stairs to get to the brewery versus the glass blowing shop was so cute. With apples on the ground from the apple trees, it couldn't be more "Maine". When walking in, you order at the bar for both food and drink and then there is a booth/trailer out back where the food comes out. The inside is set up for open mic night and then outside they have a full stage where they host live music. There is plenty of seating outside at the picnic tables as well. We ordered a couple beers, the Margherita pizza, the potato chips, and the Carrot Top salad. I cannot tell you howwwwwwwww amazing the salad was!! I have never had a salad like this and I ate every last bite. The roasted carrots were so good, combined with the crispy onions and the dressing; it was heaven. The chips were incredible and the dip that comes with it just elevates it that much more. I believe it was a pickle dip of some sort? I can't remember specifically, just that I needed a vat of it. Then the pizza?! We couldn't finish it but man did we want to! Add all this tasty food to a beautiful backdrop and we were the happiest little foodies in Maine. Hands down best stop in Ellsworth!

(is what we screamed as we were walking up the stairs) Notes: * Right above Ipanema's, I believe another party -- but more dancy -- bar. * This is where early to mid 20s year olds get their party on. * A friend of a friend had a whole history lesson for us of why this place is called The Reverend Noble Pub. There's an actual history here, but unfortunately, I cannot remember. He had helped named the pub and thus, our trip to the party bar to check it out. * I thought service was quick. * It's a long narrow space. The bar flushed to one side, high tables and chairs to the other. We had several awkward instances of people trying to pass ("oh you're going left, oh right, oh oh"). * I'm assuming this place fulfills its mission, just not something I'd be down for on any other night.

Located upstairs from Ipanema's, the space consists of one long bar and a bunch of tables around the perimeter. Service has always been pleasant and attentive. The only downside about the space is that it tends to get pretty toasty, but luckily the windows on both ends open, allowing for some cross ventilation. I usually order beer or cider (I prefer Downeast), but last night we tried a flaming Volcano bowl, which knocks the socks off those sugary Scorpion bowls and their ilk found elsewhere. Mixed drinks also seem to be generously poured, but don't expect anything terribly out of the ordinary. An added bonus is that you can order tasty snacks from Ipanema's kitchen. I've sampled their flavorful jerk wings and crispy coconut shrimp - both were satisfying, though not life-changing. They also offer a mug club (you earn your mug by trying every beer on their extensive list). Definitely worth a stop on any tour of Bangor's growing downtown drinking scene or as a destination for a chill night of catching up with old friends! I'll be back.

The restaurant is tucked away from the main road and has plenty of seating inside and out. Nice little bar area decorated very nautical and cute.
