Let's begin with the ambiance! Schoodic peninsula is gorgeous, we rented hybrid electric bikes and ended at the Pickled wrinkle, which was suggested to us from a local. The restaurant is tucked away from the main road and has plenty of seating inside and out. Nice little bar area decorated very nautical and cute. The star of the show was the blueberry margarita - WOW! That alone was 5 stars. The food was decent, we got a salad and some chicken tenders and then the Brussels sprouts. As you walk in, they note that it might take extra time to make your food because it's a small kitchen made to order but we were pleasantly surprised at how efficient they were! One of a kind establishment. Something that you really should try. We were here 8 years ago and are back since we were nearby. So the wrinkles are carnivorous sea snails. They are pickled. The story goes that years ago as the fishermen were starving during a bad fishing season..., the locals survived on pickled wrinkles. This is likely the only place on the planet that serves this unique delicacy. Don't miss the chance to try it. The crab cakes are delicious too. The place is rustic so the ambiance is pure Maine. We stopped in hoping to get some seafood based on past yelp reviews and pictures. Their menu was definitely more Pub/American style as they mainly had pizza and burgers. They had a crab roll special and a crab cake special. We got the crab cakes. They were delicious but barely a small amount and was $27. We ended up down the road at Bunkers afterwards to actually get seafood and it was MUCH cheaper and very good. The local draft beer was good and they had a great selection . Just ate here for lunch and it was a delightful surprise. The servers were very friendly and don't mind providing recommendations if asked. Since it's almost Halloween, they had fun Halloween decor inside and outside. They had a cute candy station by the front door and cobwebs, skeletons, and purple lights hanging inside. I ordered the Wisconsin cheese turds as an app owns they were perfectly fried and cheesy. Don't sleep on these curds. For my entree, I got the Nautical burger with fries. It came with 100% natural Maine beef, sharp cheddar, bbq sauce ( My fave) , and crispy bacon. It was a delicious bbq burger and did not disappoint. I would definitely order this again. My friend got the black and blue salad which was also delicious and highly recommended. They have a full bar so you can pick your alcoholic beverage of choice. I ordered a blueberry margarita which was refreshing and not overly sweet like other flavored margaritas I've had in the past. My friend got the blue Cosmo and she gave it an 8 out of 10. Great place in Birch Harbor for lunch or dinner, or supper like we did! My friend has been stopping by regularly, but it was my first time. Lots of seating options, and friendly, prompt staff. We both opted for the bacon cheeseburger and a side of pickles. Curiosity had us inquiring about a quick appetizer as we were told there would be a little wait time. The fresh local ground beef hamburgers were cooked to perfection as well as the accompanying fries. Plenty big enough with a nice portion of fries. The cream of the crop was their crab flat bread. Loaded with crab and melted cheese it was extra delicious. Definitely recommend this place for any park loop travelers and be sure to head next door for sone ice cream to finish off the meal! We had a good supper while we stayed in Winter Harbor and toured the coastline. My partner's gluten free pizza was very good except the standard gf crust distributed by Sysco and similar companies needs to be improved. That's not this restaurant's fault but their supplier needs to do better. My crab roll, one of the specials, was nothing short of amazing and considering current rates for crabmeat, fairly priced. To me the 7 PM closing is too early but maybe their customer base fades as the evening progresses. We met a couple from Colorado who chose to eat there, but too late. One evening we chose it but then found the early closing and we ended up elsewhere. This is my only negative vibe! The interior atmosphere and our waitress were fine and there was acceptable outdoor seating. We'd love to be able to return. Alas, we live and summer too far away. read more

The Pickled Wrinkle is arguably one of our favorite restaurants from our weeklong honeymoon in Maine. Not only did we scope it out ahead of time, but the owners of the cabin we stayed at also recommended them. First of all, as native Wisconsinites, we are very particular about our cheese curds. These cheese curds were incredible. The breading was delicious, and the curds inside were piping hot but did not stretch and still squeaked. They were utter perfection. We asked for a side of aioli with them and that was the perfect pairing. The fall cocktails were also incredible. The blueberry cosmo was so delicious. That's a drink you could keep having throughout the night and enjoying. Not too sweet and a great wild blueberry taste! My husband and I shared 2 entrees and both were incredible. The fresh crabmeat roll was the best one we had all week, and the fries were yummy and plentiful (took some home for a late night snack). The scallop flatbread was perfect with the balsamic and bacon. The food, atmosphere, drinks, and staff were incredible. The one regret is that this place is so far from our home! read more

Being a non seafood eater and visiting Maine (I know I know haha), options were limited for decent food. This place delivered. And they had cheese curds!! I love cheese curds and good ones are hard to come by! I had the PW burger, kids had the pizza, hubby had the drifter. All rave reviews. I agree with other people about the porta potties (I honestly would've rather my dgt pee on side of the building then use them) and I hope they open up soon. The service was friendly and fast. And if we ever venture up there we'll definitely be back! But if you're going up to Schoodic point definitely stop in it's on the way back! It's also worth a drive to just to get food. Wow! Ventured here in a recommendation from a crewman on the Arcadian Boat tour and he definitely did not steal us wrong!!! Still not open for indoor seating we sat on the deck with heaters. Super friendly server and Oh the food!!! We had 2 different flatbreads-the special that day of Sausage, fig and blue cheese and then the bacon and scallop . Based on a 4-Pack of Hefeweizen from a bar in Ellsworth we tracked this place down and made a day of it driving over from Southwest Harbor. Well worth the trip despite being "Pick Up" only on a chilly & blustery late February afternoon. We were able to order a large Herbivore pizza at the walk-up window - along with several packs of the aforementioned Hefeweizen. Wandered in two days ago while in Schoodic excellent blackened haddock, and the Brussels appetizer perfect crispy and tender a yummy delicious with balsamic reduction sause as I drank the Schoodic Sunrise from Airline Brewery and John had the Night Nurse stout from Fogtown in local Ellsworth. We took the ferry from bar harbor to Schoodic to hike. Then the bus to this restaurant. It doesn't open til 1 which seems odd to me for a lunch restaurant but I digress.
