My burger was cooked well and the fries were delicious. The burger was pretty basic and didn't blow me away, but it hit the spot. The patty melt was also great and my friend ate all of it. It was all great! The restaurant space was clean and had plenty of space to move around. It smelled good too, like garlic and butter. The bathrooms were single-person and gender-neutral which I appreciated. There is plenty of street parking so you shouldn't have a problem finding a place to park to get here. I just drove up and down half of the Oregon coast and tried several different supposedly "the best" clam chowder and verified what I already know; out of all of the best, this is the best best. It's real chowder, everything in it is delicious and you could have it as a meal with nothing else. I'll give it a 3.95/4 because I'm going to continue to try to find the best. The atmosphere is also very unique, with all of the firefighter memorabilia, and pub style. But I've never had bad service here and I've been coming back for the better part of 20 years. I would not have put as much on my oysters. The main course was a total home run. Slumgullion clam chowder. Basically, clam chowder with Oregon Bay shrimp on top. This place is known for their chowder, with the same family recipe being used for decades. It was an excellent chowder. Thick and rich. There was even a little pat of butter on the side to add to the richness. The shrimp gave the chowder another dimension. It made it more of a seafood chowder than just a clam chowder, but both the shrimp and the clams played very well together. For dessert, Noel mentioned that they had marionberry cobbler. I decided to go for it. The filling itself was amazing. Lots of berries, and it wasn't overly sweet. The only problem is, the dough on top wasn't cooked. It was just a little flap of uncooked dough. It was getting late in the evening, so I just ate around the dough. Like I said, the filling itself was absolutely amazing. But come on, how did this get out of the kitchen? Overall, for what I got, the price was reasonable, and they do offer a military/veterans discount.. everything was overall good, there were just a few glitches here and there.
