Then even our teacup poodle had the doggie meatloaf ! Did I mention Dogs are welcome !!! We even met Gus the owners new white puppy and our lil buddy had a nice meet and greet ! With a storm blowing in we were craving some clam chowder. Homegrown did satisfy that craving! Unfortunately, service was a little slow because there was only one waiter. Luckily, we were in no rush. Appearance - The warm string lights created a nice, cozy vibe. (Maybe the rained helped too!) Overall, the food was plated well. Taste- Garlic Parmesan fries- mmm so delicious with a yummy aioli to dip them in! Would highly recommend! Caution if you're sensitive to garlic... be aware that the parmesan can easily be mistaken for garlic chunks! Steamers- My husband got this and said it was very fresh and he enjoyed the broth. I tried it but I'm not a huge wine person and to me the broth was very heavy wine flavored. Fried Fish Cod Sandwich- Unfortunately I learned on this outing that I don't really love cod. The fish on this sandwich was not very meaty.

We had such a great experience at Pono Hukilau--this place truly delivered on every level. From the…read moremoment we walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed, with that perfect coastal Hawaiian fusion vibe that just fits so well. The food was outstanding across the board. The kids' fish and chips were a pleasant surprise--made with real rockfish, which you don't always see on a kids' menu, and it was done perfectly. Emma loved her sushi roll, and LaRue's shrimp sliders were packed with flavor and cooked just right. I went with the panko fried prawns along with the Hawaiian pulled pork, and both were absolutely excellent--crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. Even the appetizer set the tone for the meal--it was clear right away that they care about quality. What really stood out, though, was the combination of great food and great service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable without being overbearing. Overall, this was one of those meals where everything just clicked--food, service, and atmosphere. We'll definitely be back, and it's an easy recommendation for anyone looking for something a little different with really solid execution.

The Hukilau is a fun, festive classic staple in Florence, Oregon. This restaurant you walk in and…read moreit just feels fun. It feels welcoming. The staff are so wonderful. The attitudes are positive. This restaurant feels like a good time. The prices have gone up. I blame the economic conditions rather than the owners themselves. The food sometimes I feel like the sauce is too much or the food is too sweet or too salty. I don't feel that the food is super consistent every time I go. I love supporting local business owners. I love the story of the restaurant how it started as a food truck. I just wish the food was more consistent when you order.

I said we went there with our grandkids. Not knowing it was inside the casino was a little overwhelming. But we were hungry and hot, and hoped for the best. It was actually a really good experience. The staff seated us immediately, and didn't turn their nose up at our family with a toddler and a baby. Luckily, it was mid day and we had the room pretty much to ourselves. The wait staff quickly delivered drinks and special ordered chocolate milk for the toddler. She even brought extra napkins without asking as if she knew what to expect! Our order was taken quickly and the food, as is the norm in a casino, came fast and was delicious. The Mac and cheese worked best for our grandkids, of course. My hubby had fish and chips. Two pieces of fish and a huge stack of fries. My DIL had the spicy chicken sandwich. It wasn't as spicy as you'd expect, and was served dry. But that was actually our preference. My son had a huge burger which he loved, and I had the slider flight. Three sliders are served, of which you can mix and match from spicy shrimp and coleslaw, pulled bbq pork, or American cheeseburger. I tried one of each. The shrimp was my favorite and this time it was spicy. The pulled pork was served with a sweet bbq sauce which was a nice blend. The cheeseburger....meh. it was overcooked and dry. Thankfully it was just a slider though. I'd recommend the other two options if you try this dish. I'm not sure it's a place we'll bring our grandkids to on purpose again, but in a pinch, on a hot day after hours of driving, it did a pretty amazing job.
