This is one of the best food spots in Oahu! I never leave reviews but I had to for this place. We came on a Wednesday and their special was kalibi short ribs & fried shrimp served with white rice and side salad. Sooo good! I had their Filipino lemonade that had bits of pineapple. Simply put, the food and the people here are amazing! Couldn't even take a picture because I literally inhaled the food. Definitely coming back to this spot before we leave back home to Cali. read more

Such an awesome place! Made my order early that morning, got a call back to confirm my order, and came into the shop at the time I said along with my mom . The lovely hostess greeted us and asked you look like a Shanna. I felt so much excitement Inside me. Lol! I ordered the brisket musubi and the empanada. Lovely hostess sliced the empanada in half for mom & I . So ono! I plan to go back and try what my kids love from this awesome place! Also thank you Chef! read more

This is a terrific little spot with super tasty, fresh food highlighting local ingredients. Perfect for first lunch in Hawaii after getting off the plane at the nearby airport. It is easy to get to, and easy to miss, on a crowded little side street off Nimitz Highway. The humble exterior gives no hint of the friendly service and excellent food. We had the spicy ahi roll (served with small green salad and homemade turmeric dressing) and a side of Okinawan sweet potatoes. The roll is huge, with a fried nori wrap - a melody of flavors punctuated nicely by the crunchy exterior. Best of all, the extremely friendly service makes you feel so welcome. read more

Its been a while since I've posted a review though today's lunch was such a treat I felt compelled to write one. I had the truffle fries and pork belly bowl with the Olena rice. Can I say that its been a while since I've been "delighted" by a dish? Look at it, its beautiful! And it has the taste to match the beauty! Rose in an amazing hostess and her attention to customer service is pretty phenomenal. I feel cared for when my order is being taken and even being served. This dish was exactly what I wanted since the pandemic has been affecting my ability to get luscious food. This is one of those, eye candy and belly candy places. Im looking forward to going back tomorrow for the prime rib special and on Friday for the loco moco with red wine sauce. Location is pretty awesome for me being that I work in sand Island. Parking is good with about 6 spots in a hard to find parking area. Line is set up well for pandemic best practices and food is brought out quick served in quality containers. I'm totally smitten by Olena's...highly recommend!! read more

If I can rate 6 stars I would. I had the seared ahi sandwich and it ranks definitely in my top 5 ahi sandwiches and I've had a lot. Ahi was perfectly seared, crispy onion topping was tasty and the side of truffle fries was a perfect complement. Good portion size too. The staff are so friendly and took time to share some favorites. I'll will definitely be back soon....so many things to try. read more

you get what you pay for. here you are paying for fresh, delicious, healthy, nutritious, flavorful food in addition to friendly, kind, lovely service. Rose and Chef Ron are so personable, take time to get to know their customers, and are super thoughtful about their menu. I can't recall all the deliciousness I've had here but it includes a hearty irish beef stew, scrumptious banana poi bread, light pesto pasta salad, amazing spaghetti bolognese. My colleagues have mentioned really good bibimbap during their korean week. also they have good coffee! and italian soda! easy to pay with credit card. overall, i'm really happy they've come to JABSOM and hope they're here to stay. read more

Really love the service here! Really nice & helpful! Lots to order including our favorite filipino lemonade, chicken jook, rib eye katsu special. Parking can be tricky at lunch time but there are 3 areas available to customers. I do advise calling in your order for pickup since most things are made to order. There's a few grab & go items like the salad or turkey wrap, but I prefer the fresh made stuff. read more

The Mediterranean Quinoa Salad is well blended with flavor and fresh crunchy chopped veggies. The texture of both fish and salad was just right. Wow, where to begin? First off, the staff is extremely covid friendly. All food was packaged well, hygiene was perfect, and all staff wore masks properly. Second, the food was delicious. The burgers were well cooked and seasoned. The truffle fries were the perfect accompaniment and balanced out the rest of the food with some gentle earthiness. They were not at all greasy, which tends to be my complaint with most truffle fries. I ordered the sushi roll - it was yummy and had a very mild kick to keep it interesting. The calamansi lemonade was refreshing and cut the savoriness of the main dishes - definitely a must have! And to top it off, the staff was incredibly courteous. A very nice Auntie brought my halo halo out to me and was excited to have a Filipino from the East Coast test her halo halo. Well, Auntie, I can safely say that the halo halo is delicious, the Ube flan was a unique and delectable touch, and my only regret is not ordering two! If you're in the area, please consider supporting this restaurant! read more

'Ōlena by Chef Ron Simon is located inside JABSOM's Cafe Waiola and shares space with Simply Ono. The regular menu changes weekly and can get festive during certain holidays. For example, last week Chef Ron served an Irish beef stew, which was basically regular 'ono local style beef stew. I appreciate 'Ōlena because it deviates from your typical plate lunch fare, and Chef Ron focuses on providing QUALITY food vs. being able to sell large quantities of food. Too bad for you if they run out of something. Go back earlier the following day or pre-order (hint hint). I have consumed various items from their week to week menus including the chili, some soups, the pork loin, salmon, and carry-out items such as the wrap, bentos, pea salad and musubi. I thought I would get bored with this place, but every week is a new culinary adventure. 'Ōlena can get a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Fresh, quality dishes, prepped, cooked, and served with Aloha. A must visit if get lost in the Kaka'ako area. read more

This is a little gem! Nestled right next to Simply Ono in the John Burns Medical school (see their review). This place has the most friendliest staff I've ever seen, you feel simply comfortable standing their waiting to order as everyone says hi! The menu is a weekly thing, so it runs all week and then changes so it's kind of like Christmas every Monday. As for the food, everything is fressssssssssh and gravitates to healthy palate. For this review I had the tomato bisque and grilled cheese, omg I literally cherished every bite it took me an hour to eat! I will be back! read more

OlenaHi - I want to bathe in that soup cup...omg! - Salad Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

We were headed from the stadium to haunama bay and were looking for a convenient spot on the way. This happened to pop up with great reviews, so we decided to give it a try. First off, the location is on what feels like a secret little local street. When we walked in, everyone knew everyone, they recommended another small business across the street, and there were obvious regulars in the place. Their menu is very simple, and they offer a lot of help in deciding. If they have any empanadas left, please get one, you won't be disappointed. You can also call earlier to have them hold some for you, they're worth it. My boyfriend got the burger (so juicy and awesome) with truffle fries which were crispy and flavorful. I got the lemongrass tofu and WOW it was the best tofu I have ever had. I paired it with the basmati rice (which is my favorite) and I ate every last bite. It's a pretty big bowl but I couldn't put it down. It was a great experience - the customer service, the speedy service, the great food. Anyone would love this place. read more

So...... didn't eat here ate at the food venue next to Olena. Didn't realize that it was two separate food areas. So we grad our food and sat down. Needed condiments so we got up to get some. As we are using it a lady in a RED JACKET and BLUE SHIRT said we needed to go back to the other counter to use condiments. We didn't know. Full ATTITUDE!!!!!! But sitting and eating I see a man order food from the same place as me and used the same condiments as me. She never say nothing just was really nice. Do I need to work here not to get attitude. read more

My husband got the fish and chips, and daughter got the Angus beef burger and both were very happy with it. Try the Filipino lemonade and the butterfly drink you won't regret it. Ōlena has fresh food made on site with prime ingredients. The 'ahi today was so fresh, red & soft! Chef Ron prepares all his food with love, no cutting corners! You can tell by how moist the banana poi bread is, each spoonful of soup is tasty & the cafe drinks are deliciously crafted to your palate. In a rush? They have grab-n-go bentos, musubi, fruit cups & same-day baked muffins, flaky pastry & cookies. Or call ahead to avoid the lunch crowd! For visitors like me, there are metered parking stalls nearby, a quarter for 20 mins. As soon as you see the 3 flag poles in front of John Burns School of Medicine, walk in and you will see the cafe to your left. Menu changes weekly, but I guarantee you will like whatever they make! read more

First time in Hawaii and what a better way to start off our trip than with the hospitality from Olena! Ordered the pork adobo slider and truffle fries. I really really wanted to like this place because there are so few lunch choices in the Dole Office Building/Dole Cannery. And to be fair the food was pretty good. Unfortunately, I didn't think it was $56-for-3-plates-good. Those are restaurant prices, not food-court-grab-and-go-for-office-workers prices. $18 is a lot to spend for lunch more than once or twice a month, so it has to be worth it. The beef stew tasted pretty good but the veggies and meat had broken down so much that I would guess it was leftover from the previous Friday (I went on a Monday). I'm will admit that I'm picky about beef stew. And the dressing for the toss salad was, well, weird. 6 of us tried it, and none of us could agree on what was in it. The brisket was good, but I don't like fruit with my meat, so I wished the cole slaw wasn't sitting on it. And both came with rice, that was kind of wet and a little pebbly. Portions were not great given the price. The brisket bowl was mostly rice, and I'd guess that was 4 oz of brisket, so at $16 a bowl, that'd be $64 a pound. The stew portion was decent, but I wasn't full when I was done. Maybe I would have been if I ate the rice and salad. The fish and chips were good, but again, for $18 the fish portion was small. I had to feed the guy that ordered it a spam musubi afterwards. They are very nice there, and I really do wish them well. It'll be a hot minute before I drop another $56 on 3 lunches in the food court, but I will probably try again at some point. The place that was there before them had several dozen plates ranging from $10-$16. I just don't see this crowd paying that kind of money every day. But I'm happy to be wrong. Good luck to you Olena! read more

AMAZING FOOD, AMAZING SERVICE! If you're looking for something to eat after you hop off the plane, skip the airport food, and come HERE. My boyfriend and I had a 3 hour layover and decided to leave the airport for some food and oh ma sugar, what a treat! 'Ōlena had the best food I've had in a really long time! We got an angus burger and pork ribs- literally TO DIE FOR. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, flavorful. The ribs fell off the bones-packed with flavor! Washed all down with the Filipino lemonade with caramelized pineapple. Next time on Oahu, definitely stopping here first. read more
