On the side, I had the rice noodle-wrapped fried doughnut. Drizzled with a bit of soy sauce, it was a little on the salty side. However, the rice noodle had good texture (not too sticky or chewy) and the fried doughnut was chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Overall everything tasted very fresh and delicious! This shop may be small, but service was quick and friendly. Despite a line, you'll be seated within a few minutes. This is a great place in Mong Kok for a satisfying meal for under $40 HKD.

My local friend brought me here while we were in the Mongkok area and this is just a little mom and pop shop on the street. I had the sliced pork jook and it was really nice on the palate, not overly salty as some places would make it. The taste of the pork was clean and flavorful and came through instead of being hidden by white pepper and salt. The fried donut wrapped in rice noodle was among one of the best that I've ever had. The donut was lightly crispy with a chewy center. The rice noodle was warm and embraced the donut. The sweet soy sauce soaked in nicely and made every bite super tasty and savory.

Dimsum: I like the bamboo trays the dimsum came in, each of them had a cool metal plaque on it I haven't seen before. The taste was fantastic and it's the first time my family got to try dimsum in Hong Kong, though it is as at the airport it was still higher level than most of the dimsum we get back home.

The set meals are a pretty good value as you can choose from a variety of entrees (noodles, rice porridge, etc.), a side dish/dessert (like vegetables, fried wontons, dessert soup), and a drink (hot soy, hot teas, etc.). I didn't go for the fried wontons but the fried fish balls were quite good. They were very hot but soft with a slightly crispy exterior. There wasn't a fishy taste to it, so it seemed more fresh. The choy sum was okay, though the broth it sat in was a seafood-based broth which wasn't really my style. Waiting is a common past time here, so try to aim for a pre-noon arrival. Their stuffed toasts are legendary and are indeed the real deal. The salted egg yolk toast is fun to eat and film, but the taro custard (香芋流沙西多士) is next level good. The lava that flows from within makes this the ultimate dessert item, and should be on everyone's table. Their XO stir fried radish cubes (XO醬炒蘿蔔糕), along with the XO fried rice rolls (XO醬炒腸粉) are two of my favorite items. The dim sum items are fairly standard (especially the shrimp dumplings), but the shrimp stuffed rice rolls are very good. The shrimp toast is not my usual kind of order, but this place definitely specializes in it. The service is warm and very quick with everything: taking orders, bringing food, and getting the check.
