Islam Food was only a few blocks away from the Kowloon Walled City Park so we decided to check it out before heading over to explore. There are two locations in Kowloon City so don't fret if one is packed, there's a chance at the other.
The staff were friendly and efficient, always made sure that our cups were filled. We ordered scallion pancakes, beef pancakes, curry beef stew, curry ox tongue, and curry beef fried rice. The scallion pancakes were perfectly fried with a handful of green scallions in each bite. I love it when they fry it to perfection, leaving no piece soggy. The curry dishes started a party in my mouth because of how rich and savory they were. Each dish was a big portion for a good price. The samosa were also crispy outside and packed with savory and fragrant beef. The beef pancakes were on my bucket list for awhile and I was glad to have tried them. The beef is extremely flavorful and juicy. The pocket that held the beef held so much broth in it I thought it was similarly delicious to a soup dumpling. The steam coming from the pancake was so aromatic that it could attract someone down a street away!
There are so much more items to try and I'll come back whenever I'm around the area again or even would be willing to come back just for the beef pancakes. read more
