I had to challenge them on charging my two kids. When they said they could offer hot boiling water instead (they don't have room temp or cold/ice water). I questioned their judgement in suggesting to put an open cup of boiling water in front of my 3 yo and 5 yo. The server insisted it was company's policy but he was willing to remove the charges (I think just to get me out of his hair). Overall - We wanted to eat Hong Kong food as our last dinner. But it ended on a "meh".

First off, we must start off with the pork chop. It spans nearly the entire dish, and best of all, the bone only comprises a small portion of it! One of my annoyances when eating any protein with bone in it is when it lacks the protein itself--it feels like you've been ripped off. Cafe de Coral does not skimp though, no siree. This pork chop is not only massive, it is also juicy and succulent. On all three occasions, I have had enough pork chop to accompany my spoonfuls of rice from beginning to end. Next, let's turn to the sauce. The tomato-based sauce is on the sweeter side (but not sickly, and this is coming from a savoury-toothed person), and is thickened with a layer of melted cheese and generous portions of tomatoes, pineapples, and peas. Now, I normally prefer to have my tomatoes diced or thinly sliced, but the tomatoes here are roasted enough that they are soft to the touch, oozing out their sweet centres. Of course, you can't have Baked Pork Chop Rice without the rice, and I'm happy to report that the rice here is well-portioned to the sauce and ingredients given. I believe the rice has been lightly fried as well, which is a nice touch in addition to being baked. To wash down this food coma inducing meal, I must again recommend ordering an Iced Hong Kong Style Milk Tea. Although a drink is not included with this meal, it's hard to go wrong for an extra $10. Be warned though, the caffeine and sugar in it is unlikely to prevent you from dozing off later (or, at the very least, from feeling this heavy meal begin to digest in your stomach)...

You might even hear me say it's THE place for beef brisket noodles. Other (likely amateur) things tourists like me say: My favorites are the broth, flat noodles and on occasion, tendon. I think most people would go for the broth or curry. E-Fu noodles seem to be the most popular, often being sold out. Once they even sold out of broth. I'm lucky or an unpunctual eater or very late to the Kau Kee club as I've never waited in a line. Know that long queues have been said to be the welcome. The first time I visited was thanks to its Michelin recommended status. At the time of writing this review it has since been awarded the Bib Gourmand. The experience was quintessentially Asia. The two of us sardined on a table with a family of four who were either local or no stranger to the land and culture. Normally patrons respectfully dine quickly in silence and leave. This group was indeed quick with typical stoic expressions but also gifted us a smidge of their efforts when looking up from their bowls for the slightest seconds, pointing at their drinks: cokes with lemons, wordlessly suggesting we try some and gesturing their hands to show us how to.
