Standard Korean BBQ fare, everything was right on point. It wasn't any better or worse than any other Kieran BBQ restaurant. Solid pick when you have a big group. Great ventilation in private rooms, didn't smell like BBQ after the meal.

The Sorabol has been in the Miramar Shopping Center for some time now. The location is not the best because it's located on the fourth floor and you could only get there by elevator. Only recently they added a hidden escalator after extensive renovation at the Miramar Shopping center. The setting is simple and decor is typical for a Korean restaurant. Staff is not too attentive, friendly though. Service slowed down the more tables filled. Our first round of beef was still cooked by the staff which they advertised on their homepage. The second round we cooked ourselves because the staff was too busy. The menu is classic for Korean BBQ with all different cuts of beef as well as some seafood, pork and lamb. Food wise I was disappointed. I tried the Sorabol on Percival Street already many times and was never disappointed. I expected the same quality here. The beef short ribs were marinated nicely but the meat was just not tender enough. Same for the prime sirloin. It was just too chewy. The marinated pork was the best meat dish of that night, juicy and tender enough. All side dishes were done nicely, no complaints there. The vegetable for wrapping was fresh and crispy. Beer and Sochu go best with Korean BBQ. Given the fact that Sorabol belongs to the more expensive BBQ restaurants I'll probably won't come back especially with so many alternatives in that area.

This is a somewhat upscale Korean BBQ restaurant which is known for its high quality meat and other…read moreingredients. Every dish is ordered a la carte, and depending on what you order, it could get quite pricey. We opted for the set menu "C" for 4 people at HK$1,250 (approximately US$160) which included: -- A large variety of banchans which were actually quite similar to what you'll find in most Korean BBQ places in the US. Personally, I'm not a big fan of banchans but I did like their version of potato salad and kimchi. The kimchi wasn't too hot and spicy like some other ones that I've had, so for me, it was good. -- Korean raw beef plate (see picture). I can't remember its Korean name but it's the equivalent of a Carpaccio. This was da bomb and was the star of the night. It was absolutely fresh, beefy, flavorful, and delicious. Tip: Dip it lightly in the sauce so it won't overwhelm the natural taste of the beef. It was not exactly raw like Carpaccio or steak tartare, as you could tell from the edges that it's been quickly charred and seared before it's sliced. This's actually the way that I like and prefer. This was beyond yummy and it was so memorable that two weeks later, I can still remember what it tasted like as I am writing this review. -- Three dishes of raw meat for BBQ which included beef ribs, pork and scallops. The quality of the meats was good as expected, and it was also lightly marinated so the natural flavors were retained. We were so tired that night that none of us wanted to lift a finger to BBQ and it was such a relief that our server offered to cook for us. That was awesome. The BBQ meats were good, but nothing spectacular, especially after the stellar "Korean Carpaccio" plate. -- Soup noodles. To save time, our server was preparing our soup using a stove at the empty table next to us while we were eating the BBQ food - that's so cool! (How did she know that I was ready to fall asleep?) The soup noodles were meh and really nothing special, and the portion was rather small. My only issue with this place was that the portions were really small - even by Hong Kong's standard (which is infamous for tiny portions). The soup noodles, when divided into four bowls, were literally 2 soup spoonfuls of noodles for each person. The portions of the BBQ meats were also quite tiny. Moreover, I suspect that they didn't know how to do basic math - the pork plate came with 3 slices of mushrooms (see picture) and the scallop plate came with 6 scallops - and this was a set dinner for 4 people! This was really a 3.5-star experience - it's better than ok but I'm not a fan yet. But based on the portion size (in terms of HK$ and in terms of HK's standard to be fair), I'm rounding it down to 3 stars.

I've been to Sorabol in Seoul but don't know if it's the same owner. Nevertheless, Koreans eat here…read more& from my 2 years covering Korea & many meals in Seoul, I can same the tastes here are consistent with my meals in Korea. I was here for a "set lunch" which felt made ahead of time which is the reason for 4 star & not 5. It was good, but not piping hot.
