Great views, good food & pretty pricy but worth it. But the service & noise level was not great. The food arrived out of order - appetizer in the middle, vegetables in the beginning - plus we had to ask for water 3 times. The place has a process problem. The noise level (loud) was not befitting a place like this. Maybe it was because it was Friday night. I may come back. But perhaps a week night when it's not so noisy and the staff can keep up & deliver the food I the right order.

We had our fancy HK meal here. The Peking duck is 5 star quality here and the best we've ever had anywhere. At 468 HKD ($60.39 USD), it was a relative great value. I'll always remember this place as the place to have world class Peking duck with a view of the HK skyline. Those two items are what you are paying for here. The rest of the meal and service and everything else was on the ok 3 star level, so overall 3.5 - 4 stars here because it is a pricer type place. To get a window view which we requested, there is a 500 HKD ($64.52 USD) pp minimum charge. And because we needed a larger 4 person table, we were actually one table row away from the window. Anyway, we coincidentally did get to enjoy the daily 8pm HK skyline light show from our table, so the premium was still worthwhile. As far as the food, the Peking duck was by far the big star. It also needs to be ordered a day in advance. The duck meat was succulent, skin very crisp, and the slices came with just the right amount of duck fat. In addition, we ordered a pre-set dinner for four for 1480 HKD ($190.97 USD). This meal consisted of: cucumber appetizer cold steam chicken appetizer chestnut soup shrimp with bean curd Chilean sea bass cabbage and fried rice mango tapioca pudding dessert The sea bass was quite good, but the rest of it average for the price. We found the servers for such a place to not be particularly good or friendly. The lady server that poured my beer let it foam over significantly, not something you expect at a higher end place like this. They also charge for every single thing you see - the shrimp chips placed on your table that you didn't ask for, and water that you might ask for (they don't just bring one, they bring four and charge you for the pot). There is a 10% service charge already added to bill, but they hover closely over you for additional tip pressure (and which I did not succumb to) as you are signing for the bill. Server (the final one, as they rotated in and out though the dinner) told me the 10% goes to the "company" and not the servers. For a high end place, they could learn some western culture etiquette. Overall, nice place to have experienced particularly for the Peking duck and dining view, but we won't ever be back.

Nanhai no. 1 provides one of the best vantage points in Kowloon to gaze at the endless skyscrapers on Hong Kong Island. When you pair this with higher end Chinese banquet style cuisine, you have winner in my book. Get the perking duck! Not only is it my favourite dish, but Nanhai no 1 prepares it especially well. The only dish I didn't like was the chilli chicken, the chicken meat tasted funny more like tofu textured than chicken. Otherwise each dish was great though not standout-ish. Typical of most HK resturants this one is perched atop of a vertical shopping centre (iSquare). It's a bit confusing as not all the lifts service the 30th floor. Assuming you can find your way through the shopping maze, be sure to allow for time to have a quick drink on the outdoor terrace before starting your meal. All I'd give NanHai no 1: 3.5 stars for the food and 5 stars for the view.

This is a love place located on the 30th floor of the I square in TST, the place is very relaxing and the food is good, the most impressive is the million dollar view of the HK Harbor from above. I would come back to meet friends and family.

This review is for Eyebar only, which is adjoined to the restaurant (i.e., it is the restaurant's bar area). Now, if i were to rate the bar on solely the view, 5 stars, without question. Ambience was nice (mind you it was happy hour on a Tuesday night, so didn't have to deal with crowds, which I suspect might plague this spot on the weekends). I was sadly underwhelmed by the two cocktails I selected. Overly sweet and didn't taste as interesting as they looked in the menu descriptions. That being said, I'd still go back just for the view and simply order wine instead. Best view of Hong Kong Island, without question.

Good service, good food, good view. I love this place since I can go shopping afterwards in Harbour City. Variety of Chinese food you can choose from or even the set lunches are great! Remember to order their siu mai cause that's my favorite dim sum haha.

The 8pm light show as seen from the terrace at Eyebar. Not the best view because it was a cloudy night, but still pretty!

My friends and I decided to go to Eyebar in TST to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was all of our first times there and we didn't order any food, so I can't discuss that. The drinks and the ambience were good and I would recommend anyone who's looking for a nice bar to go to to check out Eyebar. One of my favorite things about Eyebar is that they only charge a cake cutting few of $18 per person (there was five of us in total so the total charge for it was $90). This was one of the reasons why we chose to come here, actually, as we were planning to bring a birthday cake up. Other bars or restaurants charge upwards of $100 or $150 as a cake cutting fee, which is quite annoying because all they're doing is providing us with plates and utensils to cut and eat the cake. If you're searching for a place to celebrate someone's birthday and you intend to bring a cake, definitely consider Eyebar! We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and some beers among us. They do have a happy hour special, but unfortunately the promotions aren't very extensive and are only limited to some wine bottles, martinis and beer. Eyebar has an outdoor terrace that overlooks the whole of TST. The view was unfortunately not great because it was quite a cloudy evening, but on a less cloudy day I can imagine that the view from the terrace would be quite stunning. We actually planned to sit outside at first but it was particularly windy that day, so we decided to just sit inside. Overall, I'd really recommend coming to Eyebar on a birthday or special occasion because the bar has a very 'special' feel, in that the place is quite upscale and the terrace has a great view of the city - and you can also take advantage of the cheap cake cutting fee! Note that Eyebar and Nanhai No. 1, a Chinese restaurant, share the same space. I've not tried the restaurant, but wouldn't it be nice to finish up a lunch or dinner at Nanhai and then just move on down to have a drink or two?

Sportful Garden (what kind of a name is that?) does a pretty good job, creating new dishes as well as refreshing the staples, like the super long spring rolls. If you can hang on for a little bit and come in after two, you get the happy hour price which is 40% off many dishes plus some staple dim sum dishes for HK$14-18 (like, US$2). Early birds before noon gets a discount too. They also have roasted pigeon for $33 (US$4) each, and even provide gloves for you to enjoy with your hands. While I very much want to order the super-instagram-worthy birdcage dim sum set (I've taken a pic of the menu if not the real thing), my sensible mom insisted that we order from the discounted menu. I managed to get the piggies though (with purple yam filling). I simply have a weakness for ordering things so cute I suffer a pang of guilt eating them. My favorite is the sponge cake, so light yet creamy, but all dishes, including the noodles, are delicious.

Situated at the very top of the isquare mall in TST, it's a convenient location both for Kowloon and HK siders. The restaurant itself is a beautifully bright space with amazing panoramic views. It's quite modern/upscale and would be a good place to go for work lunches etc but you won't get any nasty looks rocking up in shorts/tshirts etc... (i went there in gym gear). The food...wow. I thought after 30+ years of eating chinese food i'd pretty much seen every iteration of a spring roll. I was mistaken. Granted it's hard to make the case for a spring roll to be the standout dish at yum cha but i've never seen them done like this (pictures attached). Each one is about 20cm long and stuffed with juicy fresh shrimp. I have it on good authority that they are also a massive crowd pleaser for kids too. Other than that, every dish was equally superb and fresh. All the usual suspects (har gao, siu mai, lo bak gou, char siu sou) were top notch; fresh, juicy, thin skins. The lo mai gai was another standout - not the usual stodgy, dense, overly sticky lump; rather it was surprisingly light and the meat didn't taste at all congealed, with just enough glutinous-ness to make the rice sit neatly. And the crispy pork cubes...oh the crispy pork cubes. I'd been craving these for over a year since the only offerings to be found in NY are better described as lumps of soggy fat with a micro film of crispy skin and occasionally a bit of pork. All in all an amazing feed. Adding it to the list of regular places to hit in HK.

We met friends for dinner and actually went to the wrong restaurant, for there is another Star of Canton just up the street at I Square too and we went there by accident. This restaurant has an expansive and striking view of the harbor, high ceilings, big glassy chandeliers and is very spacious. There is a stage and so much room that it seems like the appropriate spot to have a banquet or wedding. It is one of those large Chinese restaurants that serves a lot of people and thus the soft goods (carpet, chairs, linens, etc) seem warn and need updating. Although I did not do the ordering and did not pay the bill, in addition to special orders of hairy crabs at an additional cost, we had a set dinner with like 7 courses for around $400HKD (which seemed like a great value, knowing all the delicious food we had). The set included their highlighted dish of Braised Whole Japanese Oma Abalone, in addition to marinated sea cucumbers, shrimp, sticky rice, a great soup with bean curd on top and although small and at the very end, a seasame rice ball that was really spectacular & a party in your mouth. Found in 1998, Star of Canton insists the tradition of the canton dishes with less oil, less salt, no MSG and no artificial colour. I like that and it is a niche in a sea of Chinese restaurant options. We had a good experience and liked the ambiance of the place, so we would reccomend and absolutely go back.

Getting to try it in Hong Kong, the home of Dimsum, I thought this was going to be a 10/10. Yeah, not quite. The wrapping of each dishes were thicker than most places, so that was already offputting. That plus the taste of the fillings inside the xiao long baos, it's like you eat one and you already feel fed up and over it. And then there was no Har Gow in the menu, one of the most essential in a dimsum restaurant... Price was also much more expensive than your typical dimsum places in Hong Kong, and then some outrageous charges like $12 for tea per person, when it's literally one teapot at a table... and adding an additional 10% if you want to take the dishes to go if you don't finish... (Prices mentioned in this review are in HKD, divided by 7.75 would convert to USD)…read more We have been eager to try the Spring Moon which is a Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant located on the 1st floor (equivalent to 2nd floor in the US) of the Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong.  We treated 6 members of our extended family to dinner, with us, it was a party of 9.  Hubby did a great job choosing 4 starters, 9 other main courses, and let each person pick a dessert of his/her choice.  Please see the receipt that lists all the items.   The restaurant was set up to resemble those in the 1820s, and has an antique Shanghainese feel.  I appreciated the antique feel, but would prefer better lighting especially for photo taking of the food!  The majority of our table was in a shadow as it was mostly under the balcony, so, that was trickier to take good photos.  Also, the tables were pretty close to each other, except for the wider area in the middle leading to the tea bar.  For some, it is a stunning looking restaurant, depending on whether antique Shanghainese is your cup of tea or not.   Service was very good, but not impeccable.  It was like standard for a good restaurant.  Sometimes we did have to flag down a waiter.  But they were all nice and polite once you got their attention.  We had to remind them several times about the second course of the Peking Duck, which was the Stir-fried Minced Duck Served with Lettuce, that they might have forgotten.  However, we really need to give a special shout-out to our main server, who was friendly and was very familiar with the menu.  He gave my hubby good advice, such as the Green Lobster would be too small for 9 people, and he suggested 2.25 orders of Wok-fried Prawns with Yunnan Ham and (crispy) Bean Curd Sheet.  That was a very good recommendation!  The green veggies were placed through the huge prawns, the whole dish was fresh and tasty with beautiful presentation!  He did not up-sell us, as this choice even came up cheaper than the original Green Lobster!  He also advised on getting 1.5 orders of the Suckling Pig, 1.125 order of the BBQ Hungarian Mangalica Pork with Honey, and 1.125 order of Star Garoupa so that they would be enough to feed all 9 guests! Moments like the captain carving the Peking Duck by our tableside; a team of servers bringing individual servings of King Crab Meat Sweet and Sour Soup to us; and a team bringing individual servings of desserts, were truly impressive!  It was fun that all those bowls came covered and were opened at about the same time. The food was phenomenal!  I have been craving for the crispy skins of the Suckling Pig, Peking Duck, and Crispy Tea Chicken since we left Spring Moon!  Those were so light, thin, and crispy... a true delight to enjoy!  The Pan-seared Star Garoupa(Grouper) was also memorable!  It had a light batter that had a nice crunch, the Grouper meat inside was so fresh, tasty, smooth, and cooked to perfection!  The Steamed Crab Claw with Egg White (although a bit pricey at HK$428 per person) that we got 9 orders of was a must try!  The Crab Claw was so big and plump, the meat fresh and flavorful, and the steamed egg white was smooth and tasty!  This dish really impressed everyone!  The only dish that I did not try was the Garlic Broccoli.  Why?  I have to save some room for dessert!  So, it was either broccoli or Baked Sago Pudding with Chestnut Paste, which is a labor-intensive yummy dessert that not too many restaurants have chefs that could/would make nowadays!  The pudding was so good, it had the right amount of sweetness, and the chestnut paste in the middle was creamy and tasty!   I already wish to have the above dishes again when I go to Hong Kong next time!  Actually, the whole dinner was a delight! The other dishes Crispy Bean Curd Rolls with Carrots and Black Mushrooms, Cold Jellyfish with Dark Vinegar, Signature Fried Rice, Vermicelli with Crab Meat all worth an honorary mention!  And we even got complimentary desserts!  Each person got a bite size piece of mango pudding cake, and an almond cookie, that was so crispy and fluffy and smelled so good! The Spring Moon is famous for its vast variety of tea.  We ordered Jasmin and Oolong to go with our dishes.  Each guest picked one of the two, that paired with the Cantonese food well. All in all, the dinner at Spring Moon was worth the money!  We were all stuffed with good food!  Everyone was happy and we, as hosts, were proud as well!
