Ordered the beef tendon noodle and a bowl of shrimp wontons. Both were served up within 3 minutes and it felt like I inhaled them equally quick. Noodles were chewy and flavored with the sauce from the beef. Fantastic. All wontons had good chunks of crispy shrimp. The only complaint was that the soup base was on the heavy/salty side. The prices were great as well, especially when considering the area. Despite the fact that it's in an alley, the place was still really clean and the a/c was blasting to help keep the humidity down. Will definitely be back.

Most kids will probably have a blast eating them. Our daughter (who loves to eat) enjoyed every bite and had fun 'playing with her food'. Our boy (who loves animals) thought they were so cute he didn't want to destroy them. So he just ate some noodles... with beef. Every dish we tried from beef chow fun served in a stone skillet to the animal shaped dim sum was really tasty. You're just paying more for the food experience than anything. totally worth it if you have kids or if you just like playing with your food.

The walk-in line is always short and the pricing is "relatively" more affordable. The menus of HK and NYC DTF are more or less the same. Read on for the comprehenaive review of all my favorites: ＊Steamed Pork Soup Dumpling 小籠包 After all these years, DTF's xiao long bao still has a special place in my heart -- thin wrapper and juicy meat fillings. The temperature and dumpling size are just perfect. ＊Spicy Pork & Veggie Wonton 菜肉紅油抄手 ＊Fried Pork Chop Egg Fried Rice 炸豬排蛋炒飯 My second top recs are the spicy pork & veggie wontons + fried rice combo. My taiwanese friend taught me to drizzle some spicy sauce over the fried rice -- chef's kiss. The scallion egg fried rice is flavorful and the pork chop is grilled to perfect tenderness. ＊Spring Onion & Soy Sauce Dry Noodle 蔥油拌面 If you are more into noodles, you should definitely get their scallion mixed dry noodle. It is bursting with flavor and I saw many tables ordered the same dish. ＊Braised Wheat Gluten 上海烤麩 ＊Braised Beef Soup 紅燒牛肉湯 Our go-to sides to enjoy with the dumplings and mains. ＊Steamed Taro Paste Dumpling 荔芋小籠包 ＊Steamed Mini Black Sesame Bun 迷你黑芝麻包 For dessert, it is interesting to try the taro paste xiaolongbao. It is not too sweet and the taro filling is smooth. The mini black sesame bun is packed with nutty and earthy flavor.

You might even hear me say it's THE place for beef brisket noodles. Other (likely amateur) things tourists like me say: My favorites are the broth, flat noodles and on occasion, tendon. I think most people would go for the broth or curry. E-Fu noodles seem to be the most popular, often being sold out. Once they even sold out of broth. I'm lucky or an unpunctual eater or very late to the Kau Kee club as I've never waited in a line. Know that long queues have been said to be the welcome. The first time I visited was thanks to its Michelin recommended status. At the time of writing this review it has since been awarded the Bib Gourmand. The experience was quintessentially Asia. The two of us sardined on a table with a family of four who were either local or no stranger to the land and culture. Normally patrons respectfully dine quickly in silence and leave. This group was indeed quick with typical stoic expressions but also gifted us a smidge of their efforts when looking up from their bowls for the slightest seconds, pointing at their drinks: cokes with lemons, wordlessly suggesting we try some and gesturing their hands to show us how to. Lemon first on the ice, coke poured on. Of course we copied and it was the most extravagant part of our meal. ;)

They gave us a booklet along with the paper to fill out, and most of the dim sum was the classic dim sum that I'm accustomed to. Their chiu chou fun gor was alright for me. They did put a good amount of peanuts in here but the exterior was a bit heavier on the dough side. Their siu mai and har gow were pretty good. Their cheung fun wasn't the silky light type, so I was just alright with it. Their Chicken with Sticky Rice wraped in Lotus Leaf was huge though, way bigger than those in Los Angeles. Their fresh mango custard roll was my highlight though, as they had chunks of mango in the middle and it was sweet. Would try this again. I think the one other aspect of this place is the interior is really clean, and they have a decent amount of tables inside. Service is a bit more attentive as the area isn't as large. I was most certainly full upon completion of this meal though haha.

Squeezing bao until they ooze out their "mouths" is a lot of fun. Sometimes they ooze out their butts -I'd give more stars just for that. And then ALL the stars for the aesthetics (10/10). Cute cute cute. How cute exactly? The bbq bao is decorated as a pig! Ahhhh. So you see the concept is definitely adorable, and the menu is inspiringly creative, but I thought the actual execution and taste were just okay. Mainly I didn't care for the buns and texture, so I don't think I would need to come back, especially not with all the authentic dim sum around. That's my advice -worth it to check out at least once for the cutesy baos. Do it for the gram. I came in during a rainy night and was seated rather quickly. I ordered the shrimp dumpling with rainbow translucent skin, the pineapple bird pastries, and the green tea steamed buns with faces. While the shrimp dumplings and the green tea steamed buns were pretty yummy, the pineapple bird pastries were just a bit too dry for my tastes. Too much pastry, and not enough pineapple filling! Everything was really beautiful though, and arrived nice and fast! I would definitely recommend coming here if you are a tourist, the menu is really tourist friendly with lots of pictures and accurate written names for the dishes. YUM! CHA! :3

The food was good (especially the massive wontons) and came out fast enough. Portions were good and we didn't feel hungry once we got to our next destination. However, their place felt cramped, as there wasn't much room for our child's stroller, and the staff informing us that they had no child seats, forced us to take turns eating. This place, while good to eat, definitely isn't as family-friendly as we hoped. Space issues notwithstanding, we will keep this place on our shortlist for the next time we are in HK, though the next visit will have to be with grownups as it's not an ideal choice for families with small children.
