I came here for a 90 minute Swedish massage. To be honest everything would've been five stars had it not been for this mishap. However my follow up interaction changed that. During my visit it was very peaceful, clean, friendly, and accommodating. I was given a mimosa in the waiting area, shortly after I was lead into the massage room where I could change. The masseuse even suggested I used to the restroom prior so they were pretty on top of everything. My masseuse was very easy to talk to. She was helpful in allowing me to record my experience and she did a really good job on my massage until....there was part of the massage where the used the towel to turn my head instead of using words or hand gestures. Because my head is covered during the massage I really couldn't see what was happening next. I think that's where the issue for me arose. Having to forcefully turn your head without prior warning, can lead to a tense neck. Causing me to sort of strain into the movement. In the video you can see she then presses on my head toward the table. In the moment I felt sharp pain. I was not relaxed before her next move. She repeated the movement on the other side. Something felt wrong. She also had the towel around my neck like a sling pulling my head away from the spine.
I just feel like particular movements should be left to Chiropractor's specifically! Mind you, I did not have any injuries prior to this massage. Which I have also been to. Two things went through my mind. I'm either really tense and need to trust her. Or I'll be paying for this in the end and the pain is not suppose to be there. I'm not new to getting massages so I know you're not really supposed to be in pain. There can be some soreness yes but pain NO! I actually hung around in the waiting area contemplating whether or not I should bring it up again because they are professionals. I decided to trust the process. I figured I'd take it easy the next couple of days to see if my neck pain would go away. The pain persisted and I am now thinking I might have to go to urgent care for a sprained neck. I called the facility back to explain the situation and just to let her know what happened and to have a chat with the masseuse to prevent this from happening to future guests. She didn't ask me if I was okay nor did she have any follow up questions about my experience. I shared this with her anyway. She only stated that she'd chat with the person who made my appt. I felt completely disregarded and that my unfortunate experience did not matter. So now I am writing this honest review to bring attention to this concern. I think the masseuse went well and it wasn't her intention to hurt me however I was hurt. By sharing my experience she can now be more cautious moving forward. read more
