I'd definitely say 'best Indian food' I have had in some time now and I live in California. We landed up in Zyka for their lunch buffet ($20 CAD + taxes at the time of writing this review) and left super happy. Their buffet is small (3 veggies + 1 chicken & rice and bread) but delicious. The veggies punch flavor and the chicken dishes are delicious and the meat is well marinated. The lunch buffet changes everyday and it doesn't get any better than that. They even managed to nail down a hot & sour soup taste which most restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area struggle to do. The desserts are delicious and fresh. The service is attentive, warm and friendly. Plates are cleared quickly, water glasses are filled up fast and sometimes the naan is directly brought to the table. If you are in Banff, and craving good Indian food; then make a beeline for this gem of a place (and avoid the others). You will not regret it. We went as a group of 29 for lunch buffet and the entire group enjoyed the place to the fullest. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor and provided both indoor and outdoor seating which allowed each one of to choose based on our preference. The food was yummy - the Corriander chicken was everyone's favorite and close second was mushroom mutter. The icing on the cake was the Indian Chai which was very close to home made taste. Fantastic food. Everything from the Naan to chicken to vegetarian dishes are clearly freshly made and delicious. The service was great - your water glass will only get down to about half-full before it is refilled. There was not one empty table - it gets packed, and the servers are moving very quickly. So, make a reservation in advance! Also, because of their location, they have stunning views of mount Rundle- a nice plus. I highly recommend Zika! read more

Superb Indian restaurant in Banff. The taste is so authentic, compares with very good restaurant in India. We had dinner twice during our visit. Had lamb Rogan Josh, shahi paneer, chicken tikka masala, malai kabab. Each dish was superb. Rogan Josh was especially good. Service was also very good. I was visiting Banff and had absolutely no clue what to get, and saw this restaurant tucked away near the Food Court in the area. Little did I know how delicious and hospitable the place ended up being! During the time of my visit there was a lunch buffet going on which allowed me to try the full extent of the menu (all of which was insanely delicious). Every menu item tasted like it was crafted with upmost love and respect, delightfully befriending my taste buds. You HAVE to try the butter chicken, completely knocked my socks off, and the service was phenomenal the whole time. If I ever return to see the crystal blue lakes, I'm definitely returning to Zyka as well. read more

This is great Indian food. They had a sweet and sour soup that was unlike any I've ever had. Spicy yes, but thick with cabbage. It was delicious. The smoked eggplant was also perfect. Best I've ever had. Eggplant is easy to screw up and most places never figure it out. This place has worked it all out. We also had excellent saag paneer and masala paneer (different visits). The staff was also incredibly sweet. One of our friends, who was not super comfortable with spice, had the sweet and sour soup (against my recommendation because I didn't think he could handle it) and when it was pretty clear he was about to combust, our server came to his rescue with a mango lassi. I love it when people think. It's my favorite. Anyway, that was his fault. We ordered everything else low spicy just for him and he just needed to stay in his lane. read more

Tikka Tacos - Pretty good, interesting concept Methi Chicken - Amazing, one of the best chicken curries I've ever had Paneer Makhani - Very good Chicken Biryani - Very good, so flavorful and the chicken was so tender Hakka Noodles - Also really good, great flavors We ordered extra to take home and eat after our hike the next day and this food tasted just as amazing re-heated the next day. Zyka has a halal lunch buffet that we took advantage of. Every single item was delicious. Especially their raita, that had black salt, and the mint chutney. The owner is extremely gregarious, and immediately made us feel at home. We decided to sit outside, which has a gorgeous view of Sulphur Mountain, and is right on the main street. The naan was delicious and buttery. It went great with the tomato based paneer. The spicy chickpeas were another favorite. There were also off menu items you could have ordered. A few little birds came up to us while we had lunch. The meal was filling after a long hike, but not heavy enough to send you into a food coma. read more

We were seated in a front room with glass windows and a view of the charming town street and a majestic snow covered mountain, so atmosphere alone made this place a win. Get there early to snag one of the good seats! We ordered samosas, naan, chicken chetinad and chicken tikka masala and everything was delicious. Will note that the spice level was inconsistent - we ordered both dishes "medium" and one was mildly spicy and the other was pretty darn hot. The chai tea was also dreamy. Great ambience with seating that overlooks the main road! We came here for a late lunch, and were told they were only doing buffet. Decided to give it a go and honestly surprised with the spice level, usually buffets end up being super bland but definitely not the case. The food is ok but the service is abysmal, which is weird because it seems like they have 8 waitstaff running around and their only purpose is to make sure your WATER GLASS is full. The head hostess (the person that took the orders) is uncomfortably awkward, and gave terrible suggestions. We waited 45 minutes between appetizers and main course and probably drank about 5 gallons of water with the frequency of water refills but there was explanation of the delay. My family visited Banff last week and had a fabulous time. Zyka was one of our top dining experiences. The owner/manager was extremely kind, memorizing our order, the service was incredible and the food was the most delicious Indian food we have ever eaten, every dish was excellent. I especially loved the vegan palak with tofu instead of paneer. The appetizers were also delicious and some were novel to us. Highly recommend!! read more

We arrived a little after 7pm and I asked the hostess if they could accommodate my nut allergy. After speaking with the manager the hostess assured us it was not a problem, then directed my husband and I to sit at a table and wait for an open spot at the patio. 15 minutes went by and numerous parties (without reservations that arrived after us) were seated, so my husband went to speak to the hostess. The hostess denied ever having spoken to us and did not know why we were sitting at the table she had directed us to. We were then put on the waitlist and after another 20 minutes the hostess told us she had a small table in the back of the patio, but it would take at least an hour before our food would be ready. Hands down THE BEST Indian restaurant in Banff. My in-laws are Indian and our entire family of 11 dined here last night and ordered 5 appetizers and 10 dishes and they were all delicious. The medium spice level was perfect. Just enough to give you that kick but not overwhelm the palate. The meat dishes were so tender. Their tandoori chicken was the most tender and moist I have ever had. The view of the mountains is amazing from the restaurant. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. We also went there for their lunch buffet and every dish was cooked to perfection. I heard they just opened 6 months ago. We had a buffet lunch. Amazing foods! Every dish they served on the menu is delicious. We really wanted to try Dosa from the menu but we were too full with yummy delicious food. A small suggestion, chicken pieces are a little bit too big for butter chicken. Servers are super friendly. We are so glad we found this place. The host was good. The wait time was too long (1hr+ from entry to food on the table) and the food was so-so. As a tourist, a 2-hr dinner trip here is not worth it - I'd either go to a place that serves food faster or spend the time in a place that serves better food. We went on a Sunday afternoon. They were only serving the buffet. It had raita, cucumber salad, veg spring rolls, rice, naan, daal tadka, 2 veg curries, 1 chicken curry, a dessert, and lemonade. All the food was great! They made space for us in the area with a view. It was a fantastic spot to pop in, get lunch, and head back out to explore! My husband and I visited Banff (again) and decided to try Zyka because we love Indian food and the reviewers are raving about how delicious it is. It's an elevated Indian experience and the drinks are certainly reflective of that, as well as the food. We eat a lot of Indian food and Zyka is by far the best we've ever had. The menu is rather large and they have a lot of traditional dishes that our local places don't (San Francisco area). We enjoyed our food so much that we brought the leftovers home with us and that says a lot because we never do that! The staff is incredibly gracious and attentive. Our waters remained full throughout our entire meal which is in important factor when you enjoy your dishes spicy. I called about a week prior to our arrival and made a reservation over the phone. It was super easy. We booked our dinner for 5/4 at 6pm and it was right before the dinner rush which happened while we were eating (about 6:30-7).
