I don't know what is more amazing about this place...the food or the service. For lunch - they have the best burger I have ever had. They attribute it to their organic cut of beef. I asked for mayo and they made some for me. The brick oven pizzas are also out of this world. After having such an amazing lunch experience, I started coming here for dinner. I consistently order the Garganelli which is similar to a penne alla vodka with shrimp but better, the steak, seafood ravioli and the pasta with veal Bolognese. The service is out of this world, I've never, ever had a bad experience there and on several occasions, the owners will come around to make sure everything was perfect. I almost forgot appetizers! The duck sausage is out of this world and so is their crostini which has smoked ricotta, duck and orange. This place has a NYC feel and is very swanky...a must visit! read more

I found zuppa before they were very popular. First two times I was there it was amazing. its hard to find good Italian that is worth the price they charge. Most Italian are not as good as home cooking. I was pleased to find an italian restaurant where i could say "No way I could make it this good" however the 3rd time when i decided to bring my parents to introduce my girl friend, there the food was pretty bland, and their waiters were attending to a large party. This was interestingly enough after they re did their menu. portions got super small, food got less creative, and more bland. The lamb was raw not med-rare. (Yes I know the difference between bloody and raw, I am an expert lion, i eat my meat bloody, but cooked there is a difference) had to send it back to be cooked again. Seems like once they got a steady stream of customers quality went down hill. I would love to give them another shot but I can't gamble a good meal especially for the prices they charge. read more

Had a 7:30 reservation, but wasn't seated until 8:30 (no apology for the hour wait)... Our party grew later in the evening from 5 people to 8, which to their credit, they were able to accommodate. The waiter, who didn't write any of our orders down, brought out an extra appetizer that we didn't order, and then charged us for them (owner claimed that because we ate it, we should pay for it). This place is truly amazing! My bridal shower was hosted here and I can't imagine it could have gone any better. The owner Nando was very responsive and accommodating throughout the whole process. The ambiance was perfect for the bridal shower. They set up music that was fitting and the the food was AMAZING! Everyone cannot stop talking about how good the food was. Hors d'oeuvres were delicious and the wait staff was amazing! We had wine and mimosas passed as well and the bartenders made sure everyone had a glass in their hands at all times. This establishment exemplifies everything that's wrong with restaurants today. The food is so-so, the prices are high, and the staff has an attitude problem. I mean, big time. It gets loud when full, even though the tables are well spaced. And TVs are on over the bar all the time, distracting attention. Of 9 dishes (4 appetizers, 4 entrees, 1 dessert) that four of us ordered the other night, one was good, six were just OK and two were unacceptable. My grill-charred octopus appetizer was dry and chewy and came with dry garbanzo beans. I managed to eat it by dipping it in a vinaigrette I made from the olive oil on the table and lemon juice I squeezed myself. My friend found her soft-shell crab, a special that night, equally dry and unpalatable and asked about the white wine sauce that we all heard the waiter describe. "We don't make it that way!" was his answer. With an attitude, as if there was something wrong with us, the uneducated diners with unsophisticated taste buds. He was the kind of waiter who at the same time was obsequious, nodding in agreement to our choices, but never present when we needed him. That's because he was spending most his time -- as was the manager, it appeared -- chatting and flirting with younger diners at other tables. One of the most annoying things in life is a waiter who asks, "How is everything?" and then turns his back and walks away before you have a chance to answer. And if you manage to get his attention and say something like, "Actually, this crab is dry and chewy," he starts to argue with you, that you don't understand fine cooking. Lesson learned: I should have sent it back. In our entire meal, nobody thought anything was delicious, except maybe the molten chocolate cake. Even the bread and the oilve oil were not exemplary -- which they should be in a place where you are kept waiting a bit too long for your appetizers to come out. All said and done, nobody wanted to come back here and spend more than $200 on a dinner for four like this. read more

Wow! Four years have flown by since we last went. The place has expanded and is bigger. The service was good on Mother's Day. Food came fairly quickly so pleasantly surprised. We ordered three different pasta dishes (one was a special) and they all were surprising not large quantities and each were simply prepared. Each had one vegetable or meat. No focus on presentation of dish. And more shockingly, there was not much flavor in the dishes. Maybe they held back on salt and pepper on Mother's Day? Not sure but we were so hungry we ordered two desserts...so small entree portions..not a bad thing normally. read more

We dined twice now at Zuppa's, the first time was a Monday night, and again this past Sunday night. Both times we were treated to the valet service. Both times we had a romantic seat for two in a corner. Both times we were served most charmingly by Alex. All of our multiple courses were tasty and fresh. First of all, my parking meter ate better than I did. I put in over an hours worth of quarters and I had to go back to put more in...and fight off a dude outside asking for change. They were that slow and all I ordered was a pizza and a pasta. The service was really friendly and nice, but I thought they were also over priced and the food wasn't spectacular. The mozzarella was super fresh. I don't have any desire to return though. read more

The people here are so nice, I am a fan. Their menu is kinda weird for an Italian restaurant. I am more used to "peasant Italian," I suppose. It's nouvelle Italian. The bar snacks, whole wheat bow tie pasta sprinkled with cayenne pepper is addictive. Hummus comes with your bread. Their salads are small enough that you don't have to split them. I just want me some appetizer size mussels one night. Or a meatball. Or some primavera marinara whole wheat pasta. But, I like Raquel, Robert, Nando and Eddie so much that I will indulge my friend's crazier-than-mine food habits, drink good wine while he has happy beers and overload on that crazy bow-tie pasta bar hook food. read more

Very mediocre, I only enjoyed my appetizer, lamb meatballs with creamy polenta. My pasta dish was very bland and hardly had any sauce. Desert was terrible, red velvet cake in a way to sweet strawberry syrup and it had no frosting on it, so I would not even consider it a red velvet cake. We did unfortunately go on Valentine's day so the menu was limited but even with a broader menu I do not find the price worth the dishes they are putting out. Zuppa is by far the loudest restaurant I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. Granted it was a Saturday evening, and full of large parties, but my small party of six literally had no hope of conversing. I found myself having to yell to communicate with the person seated right next to me! All but one of our party was very happy with his or her food. Four of us had excellent made-on-the-premise pasta dishes. Another had perfectly prepared Bronzino. The dinner who was not happy with his meal had ordered steak, which he found to be tough and overcooked. The service was excellent. The valet parking was a welcomed perk, as spaces on the street are extremely limited. Would I ever return? NO!!! read more

We had our wedding here in October 2016 and prior to this have eaten here about 3 times for dinner. The service is spectacular; the food is delicious; and the atmosphere is gorgeous. We chose this venue for our wedding of 100 people because of the high ceilings and romantic vibe of the place. Edi did an AMAZING JOB just being there for us and calming our fears. Beautiful decor, and contemporary Italian fare. The atmosphere is very glamorous but cozy and cool. Great place for dinner over the holidays- very classy Christmas decor. Nothing kitschy. Beautiful Christmas tree. Went there with my parents (who are picky) for XMas Eve, and service was great! Myself and my dad had the special Nutella braised short ribs, and my dad actually said they were possibly the best short ribs he ever had! My mom had the brick pressed chicken special with polenta, and said it was delicious! They also have these awesome seasoned and baked bow-tie pastas to munch on at the bar! Free valet parking! This place was actually really better than what I had originally thought. Great live music playing (I'm guessing on some nights.. went on a Tuesday night for a birthday dinner) and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The vitello (veal) was great, very tender, and the sauce was wonderful. I tried out my friend's pork with scalloped potatoes and asparagus (it was a special). If you've worked in a restaurant, you'd know what they have those specials for (partially *wink*), so I tend to stay off course as far as that goes. But the panna cotta was great; you can't really go wrong with that. read more

I went here in mid-January 2008 with my husband on a Wednesday night. We had 8pm reservations and when we walked in the place was pretty bare except for some people at the bar and 2-3 tables in the dining room. I was unfamiliar with that area of Yonkers so I was thankful for the valet parking. The restaurant itself is larger than I thought and nicely decorated. The bar area (which is huge with tables of its own) is separated from the dining room. Despite the "I couldn't care less" attitiude of the waiter, I enjoyed the restaurant and I would go back. The reason? The food was great. The chef obviously put some thought into the menu and the specials. I started with the papardelle ragu and my husband had the grilled barbque octopus. He didn't care for the octopus but my pasta was out of this world. I was very impressed. For my main course I had the cod entree special and my husband had the veal cheeks pastrami with mustard butter. Both were phenomenal. Before they served our food they served us a complimentary beet (yes beet, not beef) and it was interesting...I think I liked it. The thing I liked the best about this place was that I felt that the chef was really trying. There was a definite effort put into the food and it paid off. I just hope this restaurant makes it and the chef continues to have an opportunity to impress. Definitely worth the trip to Yonkers and worth a try. Nice wine list too. read more
