We just moved to Yonkers and my son got a gift certificate to Zuppa! We had an absolutely wonderful experience! Ambiance is lovely and warm. The food was great and the service stupendous. Very friendly staff and they all survey the restaurant tables and pitch in serving, replenishing drinks, serving food. They all work together to give the customer a 'wow' experience! The hostess was also friendly and accommodating. We had the grilled octopus (so good and the chickpea purée was scrumptious), Mediterranean salad, veal bolognese and the carbonara. I am not sure what type of cuisine it is but the food was lovely. They have an eclectic selection of items and we tried a lot of them. The calamari was crispy and the marinara sauce had a little spice to it. The little croquette balls were a nice start to the meal. The branzino was a big portion and had a flaky delicious flavor. Best Italian food in Yonkers! The menu has a variety of options to choose from. I had to go with the homemade pasta and bolognese sauce and it did not disappoint my 14 month old daughter or me. Everyone at the table ordered a pasta dish that we enjoyed. The atmosphere is great, my martini was dirty , staff was beyond friendly, and the bathroom was very clean. I first heard of Zuppa when my parents dined here a couple of weeks back. They had good things to say and suggested I try it out when I had the chance. I was making plans to catch up with one of my friends and since we were at a stalemate as to where to dine, I suggested we try Zuppa out - so off we went. Zuppa is located in Downtown Yonkers, adjacent Getty Square among a number of other businesses. Street parking can be a challenge, but they offer valet and there's a municipal lot right next door. Walking in, you're almost immediately welcome by the main dining area with a smaller room off to the side that I assume can work for private parties. I wouldn't say the space is super big, but the high ceiling makes it feel super spacious. The bar in the center serves as a focal point, and the exposed brick throughout gives the restaurant an upscale yet approachable aesthetic. The menu features a good variety of Italian dishes, with sections dedicated to bites, apps, salads, pastas, and mains. Before food, though, we got a drink. I decided on their Zuppatini cocktail which had good summer flavors and set a good tone for the meal ahead. We were looking to get some apps but nothing too heavy, so we decided to explore the bites section and chose the arancini and the cocoa puffs. The arancini were just okay - they were the cheese kind but I was struggling to find flavor. The cocoa puffs were better - there's no cocoa to be found, but in its place were flour-coated chickpeas and fava beans tossed in a truffle oil. I thought these were a good bite - the oil wasn't heavy so it was good to eat with your hands, and they had great flavor. For my main, I decided on the Chicken Palermo. This was a panko and parmesean-crusted breast served with string beans and mashed potatoes with a light lemon-based sauce. I really enjoyed the dish - the chicken had good flavor, and the potatoes were a good complement. I appreciated the fact that the sauce was light, since a heavier one would have pushed the dish over the top. Service was good - everyone was friendly and the food came out at a good pace. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at Zuppa; the solid food, combined with the aesthetics and service make it a place I would return to if the opportunity arose. read more

The room is lovely, the service is quite good, the plating is attractive, and that's about it. The noise level in the front room is so high you can barely hear the person sitting next to, let alone across from you. The light level is low but you can brighten the light on the table. Wish I'd known that sooner. So, the food. If it tasted anywhere near as good as it looked the meal would have been great. We're a family of sodium-phobes yet each one of us reached for the salt for every dish. The cocktail-sized four cheese arrancini were as cute as anything but I'm not sure there was even one cheese in them. No salt, either. The onion spaghetti - oh wait, they called it carbonara - also looked nice in the bowl but tasted of nothing at all but onions, which don't even belong in carbonara. It would have been a good idea for someone in the kitchen to keep an eye on the pasta which was way past al dente on its way to mush and arrived in prettily swirled clumps that show that no one bothered to stir it while it was cooking. There was plenty of speck in the bowl but it had no flavor at all. No cheese had been added initially so the paltry amount the server sprinkled accomplished nothing. It was ill conceived and simply bad. Another pasta dish had an opposite problem. The pasta was almost crunchy. The person who ordered it had to add so much salt, cheese, and red pepper that I have no idea what the kitchen intended it to be. He said that almost made it good. Considering that the dish was supposedly based on nduja, that's inconceivable. Nduja is highly seasoned on its own and it's flavor is distinctive. It is not cooked like sausage which I'm pretty sure was what was actually used. I had no desire to stay around for coffee or dessert nor is there any reason to return. read more

I had high hopes for this place but don't think I'd return. I'd tried ordering from here once before but they were closed for a private event. The ordering process was painless and the food was only 15 mins from being ready. Parking for pick up is terrible but expected. When I was placing my order, I asked the hostess if the menu on the website was right since I did notice it said 2020 and wanted the roasted chicken entree. I gather this is likely a staple for them in rotation because she said yes. The problem is, I was expecting to get polenta and carrots with my chicken and instead got quinoa and asparagus; neither of which I'm a fan of Unfortunately, I didn't realize until I got home so I had to find something else to eat. When I called to ask about the mix up, I was told that the menu was right so when I checked again, that was when I found the discrepancy. There are two different menus on the website (pictures attached). Kitchen said they didn't even have polenta. I would have even been happy with potatoes but no resolution was offered. My friend got the Troffie which is just pasta with beef ragout. She said it was okay but the beef was sparse. Also, when I was paying for the food, I handed the hostess two fifty dollar bills to cover my $51 bill; to which she replied "Thanks; good night!" Not sure if a "tip" that large is customary here but it was pretty awkward asking for my change. If you're ordering from here, be sure to navigate to the drop down to find the correct menu since it doesn't seem like they keep the website links updated properly.
